  We had the cod with bread for three people and it was fantastic! We had four eating fish, but the waiter was super helpful and said that the dish would actually feed four to five. We didn’t finish!   Fantastic experience. The staff were amazing. Super accommodating, knowledgeable, friendly, and they were kind enough to give my friend and I free shots of a Portuguese liquor while we waited to be seated and after we finished eating.   Lovely place. The steps up from downtown are worth the food. Grab a table outside and sit with stairs up higher into the city and a beautiful view the other direction.   We would not recommend this place. Pricy, the perfect tourist trap. Food quality is poor, I ordered Picanha with fries, meat was ok but fries were not fresh, they tasted like frozen. We ordered fruit salad and it was only melon with one orange slice. They should be honest and say what you will get. Besides that, service was bad, we waited too long for everything even for paying the bill. The only good thing is the location, but it does not worth it at all. We ordered several traditional Portuguese dishes - baked chorizo, francesinha, and bacalhau a bras. Chorizo and francesinha were major hits...the cod might have been a good representation of the dish, but it just wasn't to my liking. When the waiter noticed I didn't eat much of the bacalhau, he brought me a dessert on the house - even though I made it clear I didn't think the problem was with the kitchen. That's above-and-beyond service! I had lime mousse which was divine, and the chocolate cake was a hit with my husband. I saw a few reviews that claimed this was a tourist trap - don't believe them.   Tonight was our last dinner in Lisbon and we where looking for a nice authentic dinner. Unfortunately it was our worst dinning experience. The host was a bit pushy but we sat down as we where convinced it's the best. The bread was old and when we complained we were told that all the bread is the same....the sardine pate was more of a tomato paste than a pate and the olives was not a good quality. My wife had the steak which was ok but very oily and not tasty, and me and my daughter shared the Seafood rice which was very disappointing. The dish was bland, basically rice mixed with tomato sauce and 3 black mussels and some prawns that was frozen to long, definitely not worth 28 euros. We left most of our food and nobody asked if there was a problem. We spend more than 70 euros on terrible last dinner in Lisbon. Please avoid as there are many other great restaurants.   The place always look packed so we decided to try it tonight. We sat near the cashier was it was very tight inside, the waiter almost spill beer over my shoulder when going from my back. Sorry to say that the rumsteak is so tough (over cooked) that it is one of our worst food we tasted in Portugal. I could have asked for another plate but we took it in. Their house pour red wine was good. The seafood rice was more tomato sweet taste then others we tried near the square. Not the best in my view. We didn’t stay for desert as we just want to go off.   I would give this restaurant a 10 if I could. We ended up there as it was my birthday, the waiter was amazing! He recommended the best dishes which was the cod and chorizo to start. Since he found out it was birthday he gave me and my partner both a shot of ginga on the house. When it was time for our main meal he recommended the francesinha which was out of this world! And when it was time for desert we ordered one of the biscuit cakes. When our bill came we were so surprised they gave the desert to us as a birthday treat.   Looked nice from outside even if for the position could’ve been easily a tourist trap, we decided to give it a chance. Generally it has been surprisingly ok even pricewise, we had Bacalhau and franchesinha but on the following day both me and my girlfriend had very bad stomach and had to stay in bed the whole day ruining our stay in the city.   Location is very convenient, the food wasn't that bad, but as it isn't strange in Lisbon - one more tourist trap. The most senior member of staff was very unfriendly, while wasn't happy to provide me with a receipt inc. VAT number (to avoid taxation - typical Portuguese move). The cherry on top was not allowing me to pay by card and split the bill among everyone (even though card is an option available).   I think only positive about this place is location, because it is located the way up to Rato neighborhood and you have to walk stairs to get there. In other words, it has a vibes of classic Lisbon cafe. However, service was kind of rude because we didn't order food and only jar of Sangria (which was below average). Moreover, it was very windy and they did not have blanket or anything like that. Bathroom was not very clean either. Overall, I do not recommend this place to spend your Lisbon evening.   I wanted to give these guys a 3.5, but since that isn’t possible I have to round down. I started with the sopa a alentejana. I’m very sad to say that I burned my tongue on the most bland soup I have ever had in my life. Campbell’s chicken noodle soup would have been preferable.   After walking around the neighbourhood ended up at this restaurant. We were not expecting much so the quality of the food compared to the price was a big surprise. Dishes are absolutely massive!! Prices that seemed ok where inflated by paying 5 euros for a small can of pop. Overall a poor and forgettable experience for us all. We may have caught them on a bad day, but I did feel we had been processed through not looked after.
