  We were looking for somewhere to try port tonic in the area but were having a hard time finding a place who would let us sit for just drinks AND who had reasonable prices. We passed by this place & saw their sign advertising an array of drinks on special for happy hour for €5-6 so we stopped by to ask about it. They very kindly welcomed us during dinner time to allow us to sit just for cocktails & I’m so thankful they did. We ordered a port tonic & a red sangria & they were both absolutely amazing, along with the friendliest waitstaff in town. Absolutely recommended!!! But the really treasure of this place is the staff so attentive and kind.   The food is very good Portuguese food and totally affordable. The service is very good and friendly. We came twice during our vacation and can totally recommend the place. We ate grilled chicken, bitoque (beef with an egg on top) and beef on a hot stone, 2 salads, drank a bottle of wine and a litre of sangria, had water and a coke and paid like 75ish euros.   It was my second time at this place and I came back for the delicious Bacalhau Lagareiro. This second time we met the owner Trudy, she’s such a nice woman with a pleasant presence. We actually went there to just get a take out but once we started talking to her we ended up staying because we just want to keep chatting with her! I highly recommend this place for the ambience, wine, food and friendly staff! Very basic, good and perfect food with such a nice change to all the fancy places around the neighbourhood. Price-food ratio is perfect. Nothing to complain about, only good things to say about this place, love the owner too. As said, I never give reviews, but I have to give 5/5 for this.   We were in the neighbourhood and decided to drop in for dinner. I'm glad we did! All our dishes were good, but I'd say the Chourico flamed at the table was the highlight.   Please do not eat here, as a portuguese person I had a very bad experience I ordered a steak with chips and salad and the chips were mold so I call the attention as we know the food inspection and quality in Portugal is hight standard. I was not happy with their attitude and solution from their part si i went strong with the manager how they can serve mold food . At the end the bill came and they still charge for one meal out of two which I wasn't happy at all. BECAREFULL DO NOT EAT HERE NOT FRESH AND FOOD STANDART IS NOT APPLYIED the restaurant has a Portuguese name but not genuine Portuguese authentic. And for sure I will send food controll inspection to see that kitchen and not having costumers with food poisoning.   We share a Bacalhau con Natas (a baked cod fish in a cream sauce dish), which was delicious. Would also recommend the green wine from Avelelda with any cod fish dish. It's not dry and has that young tasty with a very, very small amount of sparkling if you're not a huge fan of sparkling wines. Unfortunately, the restaurant is let down by what appears to be an under dressed manager or owner at the front door, which gives it a very non-Portuguese vibe. Two of the waitresses who served us were friendly and attentive and fairly knowledgeable. No music or atmosphere to go with the name: "Bacalhau" ("Cod Fish"). My personal recommendations would be to change the interior style to a dark blue (not dark red), put some music on, remove the awkward males from the front of the restaurant, and perhaps invest in a casual but consistent uniform. If you like Cod Fish and you're visiting this part of Lisbon, I would recommend visiting here outside the tourist/marine areas.   Kind of a hidden gem in a busy narrow street to eat great Bacalhau (codfish). Their menu is fairly complete with Portuguese traditional cuisine, but the star is the codfish.   The lack of sleep and aimless walking brought us to this place. Had to order cod (Bacalhau is cod in Portuguese), little did I know the plate would be drowned in oil… I’ll give it to the friendly patient staff for being so comprehensive with my slow-processing brain.   Underrated restaurant that come up as a big positive surprise. All the dishes with bacalhao are truly amazing above alle the natas. On new years eve one of the few restaurant that keep the original carte without pushing up prices. Service exceptional and very nice. 2 small improvement ( price of the bread is quite high, however the overall price are below average in Lisbon!) Probably they could simplify the menu (there are too many dishes to make happy tourist) they could just highlight more the amazing bacalhau that they make...   The worst food that I had. Salad was small portion. Soup was too salty. Sardine was not fresh. Moreover, it was expensive!!! My mouth felt numb for hours because all the food was so salty I don’t mind expensive if the food is good. Anyway, I won’t recommend anyone to eat in this restaurant.   What a find! The food and wine was exceptional! A 3 course meal and a bottle of wine for 4 people was Euro 102! The octopus was cooked to perfection and very fresh as was everything else we sampled - steak, cod and pork, followed by fantastic desserts and the most delicious bottle of a red douro wine. The waiting staff could not have been more helpful and friendly. One great chef here!   The prawn soup was really flavourful and full of shrimpy goodness, thought a bit too salty. Cod with cream was alright, it got a bit much after awhile since it was rather rich tasting.
