Very Nice people, good food but the live perfromance was a bit too much and got a bit overwhelming in the end. I think they should limit it to 4-5 songs in total not 16! Incredible magical experience. The perfect fado evening. O Corrido is owned by fado singer Claudia Duarte, so it's no surprise that the musicians love for the art form shines through. We had 4 incredible vocalists sing for us, individually and together. The breaks between the music for dinner were perfectly timed. The space is cosy and atmospheric. Very nice place with great atmosphere and good food. I have made the reservation very late and they managed to give us table - fully explaining the view “limitations” before the reservation. Later during the evening they gave us the opportunity to change the table - when other people left. But we were happy at our place. Food is good and the music and singing is great! An incredible experience from start to finish and a must do in Lisbon. I was able to book a table (must make reservations) about two hours before opening on a Tuesday in February but the place was completely packed. So definitely make reservations in advance. For €47 you get a fixed menu with bread butter olives, appetizer, entree and dessert. Drinks were very affordable, €4 glass of house wine and €3 beers. You could also do a wine pairing with the meal for a total of €75 per meal. The stand outs were clams, mushroom Wellington and chocolate mousse. We had a 7:30 reservation and got drinks, couvert, and appetizers before they started the first set at 8:30. Something unique about this establishment compared to others I looked at was each set of songs was a different singer which I appreciated being able to hear multiple performers who all have a unique voice. After the first set the main course was served and about 30 min later the second set began, lasting about 20 min. Then dessert came out during the next 30 min break with that set again lasting 20 min. Another break where people ordered more drinks and then a last set, ending around 11:15. This was almost a 4 hour experience for us which we were not expecting but were very happy to sit and listen to beautiful music. O Corrido is an absolute must go to place when visiting Lisbon. The food and service are exceptional. We had pork cheeks with octopus salad and a pumpkin salad followed by the drunk pear and chocolate mousse. The singers and musicians were so good and this made the whole Fado experience very moving. It was my wife’s birthday and the whole restaurant sang her happy birthday. The owner came and talked to us and explained about the restaurant and Lisbon. Just an amazing night. This experience could not have been more perfect and was the highlight of our trip to Lisbon. The food was amazing, the wine was great and well-priced, and the Fado was incredible. We loved this entire experience. The owners play/sing Fado along with a set of other musicians. After the evening, one owner (Portuguese guitar player) took the time to sit down with us and talk about the history and meaning of Fado in Lisbon. It was an unforgettable and special night for us. I would recommend Fado to any visitors but especially recommend O Corrido. What you need to know: Fado starts at 8:30pm and you eat dinner in between 4-5 sets of music, ending just after 11pm. After reading about a lot of different fado places in Lisbon, we expected a very short fado performance and below average food in a small, cramped space. We were pleasantly surprised in all regards. We were entertained by four different fadistas who played several sets from 8ish until after 11pm. I'm not a fado expert by any stretch of the imagination, but they all sounded really good to me as did their classical and Portuguese guitarists. We were told that if you find good fado, the food will likely be mediocre; and if the food is good, the fado will likely suffer. O Corrido has both amazing fado and absolutely delicious food - a true win-win! We booked a reservation in the morning for an evening seating and were delighted that we were able to get in -- our experience began in an intimate setting with a fabulous view of the stage then was followed up with impeccable service, absolutely outstanding cuisine (try the blood sausage and duck confit with sweet potato, they will not disappoint) along with sensually moving fado performed by three generations of fado singers, accompanied by two talented guitarists (one of which is an owner along with his wife, one of the wonderful fado singers). Lisbon cannot exist without fado! If you are looking for such an experience, one of the best choices is O Corrido, in the Alfama district, next to the Panteão Nacional. Booking in advance is highly recommended! The building is nothing special from the outside, but once you enter you will find a pleasant restaurant. The menu served during fado night includes a couvert, an appetizer, a main course and a dessert. We had a Tábua de queijos/enchidos (fried sausage and cheese dish), a Perna de pato confitada com puré de batata doce e couve, em molho de vinho do porto e laranja (duck leg with port, orange sauce, sweet potatoes and kale), a Bochechas de porco em vinho tinto, com esmagada de batata, cogumelos salteados e emulsão de coentros (red wine pork with mashed potatoes, sautéed mushrooms, coriander emulsion), finally a Mousse de chocolate com toffee salgado (chocolate mousse with salted caramel) and a Pera Bêbeda (pears stewed in alcohol), all dishes were delicious. Claudia has the most soulful voice and brought me to tears. When you go to this place they make you feel like part of their family. A stunning evening filled with fado music, good food and friendly people. It was a very well organized event that lasted 4 hours. Between the tasteful varieties of food there was four fadosingers that sang for us. And in the end three of them performed together. The accompanying guitar players were also brilliant. The staff was very kind and took care of us really well. The place itself was intimate (40-50 guests) and cosy, and that took the evening to another level. Very lively and authentic experience. The music was great, get a flavour of different artist was nice too. The restaurant is lovely. The Food was not bad. The manager is nice, he goes between the tables to see if everything was going well. But the service was a disaster, unfortunately just for us the tables next to us had no problem. It took so long to get the menu, to order, main course and we were the last to get dessert. (no issue to get the starter) Also the meat was not cooked as we requested, my desert was not the good one, I was frustrated. From the waiter we didn't any excuse to be late or even a smile. Unfortunately the service tainted the whole experience. It's not cheap and not expensive either, but it's a cost that I can't afford to do every day, in short, we had a bad experience, the waiters weren't respectful for us or for the owner who for sure enjoyed shared his art. The whole experience was out of this world. The food: We got delicious entrees - fried codfish very well prepered and octopus salad which resembled me of the sevichen fresh and yummy. Family run house of fado with great food and wine. The seafood rice was flavourful and delicious, and the drunken pear was superb. Although the star of the show is definitely the fado. The music and the singers are amazing, and the owners (Claudia and Felipe) are passionate about it. Felipe plays Portuguese guitar and Claudia is a talented singer herself. I would recommend dinner ~8pm then slowly enjoy the fado to dessert and wine. Also no flash photography or loud chatting during the performances. But most of all, enjoy! We were looking to experience a Fado show with dinner in our first trip to Portugal, and after a lot of research, found this restaurant. What a blessing to have reserved here, the owner, Filipe, was very welcoming and personable, sitting down at each table to interact with the customers. The show consisted of 4 different style singers performing 4 songs each, one of which was the owner’s wife, Claudia, and my only word is “WOW”, what a voice and performer. One of the performances was a duo between the first performer, Maura and Claudia, it was truly the BEST of the night. I would highly recommend this place and thank Filipe for this wonderful experience. You can tell the owners of this place are super passionate about music and Fado, Philip walks around and greets everyone, and tells you more about Fado music, the instruments etc. The location and surroundings of the place is great, just behind the pantheon. The dining room is extremely cosy and they space out the meals in between the performances. Our expectation for the food was low, but the food turned out to be really good too! Wow. Where to begin?! Highly recommend this lovely fado house. The food was incredible (we had cod fish cakes, clams and chorizo for entree, duck and pork cheek for main, desserts). We came here for fado and dinner with our two kids while visiting Lisbon. The experience was amazing, great food, performance and service! We ordered different things on the menu and everything was very good. There were 4 singers throughout the night and every single one of them were fantastic singers. The owner plays guitar and he came by our table to say hi during the break, shared his story and passion about fado (thank you!). The only thing that I wasn't too excited about was that they leave the entrance door open for air circulation, which is great, but some people smoke outside and the cigarette smoke kept coming inside. But that's not something the restaurant can control. Highly recommend, will visit again next time we're in Lisbon! It was absolutely an amazing experience to take part of Fado music and the authentic Portuguese food. The price was worth every penny we’ve experienced. What I was mostly impressed with was the passion of the owner of the resultant, Philip. He is also the main reason I decided to write this review. After the first part of the Fado show, Philip came to almost each table and talked to each guest. We experienced a very gentle and humble man with such a generous hospitality. He himself was part of the show, but he also presented other the singers with much respect and honour, but mostly importantly, he listened, for every feedback we had to say, and he showed his great gratitude for the support from his customers. And he was also the one who managed all details in bookings. I was amazed by his passion as a owner, and no wonder why this restaurant become this popular again after pandemic. Admittedly, I was not expecting much of the food as in these types of things, it is often the food that takes the backseat. But I was SOOOO PLEASANTLY SURPRISED by how delicious the food was. Really lovely personal experience. The Fados singers were amazing and the service was exceptional. The food was great, specifically the pork cheeks and cheesecake. I had a duck salad starter, it was okay, cured duck with some sald and vinaigrette nothing mind blowing. That said the overall experience was good and I'd happy visit again in future. We had a very wonderful experience here. A really amazing spot if you would like to listen to live traditional fado music. The owner/manager/guitarist Felipe was really humble and spent a brief time speaking to each table, which you don't see much anymore. It was our first fado experience in Portugal and we are so glad it was here. We reserved tickets online for our family of 6 for 7;45 pm. We were seated promptly in a very intimate setting. The prefixed menu was good and had enough options for everyone including a vegetarian. Our waiter was considerate and funny. Once the performance began around 8:30 I could see why this is a must in Lisbon. The guitar music, the singers. It was so moving and really spoke to me although I didn’t understand a word of it. Music truly transcends all barriers and my sister and I were moved to tears. So bring tissue if you are like me! We had to leave around 11 pm but the show goes until midnight I believe. Make sure you are ready to pay in cash or Portuguese methods of payment only. Truly one of the highlights of our trip to Lisbon and one that I won’t forget for a long time. Highly recommend!!! This place cannot be recommended enough. It was an absolute joy to experience a night of great food and beautiful music here. They offer a fixed price tasting menu with a handful of choices for a starter, main (fish, meat, vegetarian), and dessert and everything we ordered was fantastic. The fado music was beautiful and you could tell how much the artists feel the music and lyrics they sing. The owner come around the tables in between sets for the singers to discuss fado with the guests and talk about their craft. They bring in multiple singers for the night and so you can really get a great range of voices and styles of song based on what the artist is feeling in that moment. The improvised guitar playing also harmonized wonderfully with each song! It was far and away the best experience I had during my entire trip to Portugal. Do not miss out on a dinner and night here. If you can, plan on spending at least a few hours for dinner. The singing started 8-830pm and they would play 4 songs, and take a 30ish min break before playing again and I believe said they will play until around midnight, we left just a little before then. What a wonderful night we've had at O Corrido. Running a bit late and having practically run up the hill to O Corrido (a small challenge but very much worth it), we were welcomed by Philippe, a very jovial and kind host. Once seated in a cozy setting, service was quick and we were able to order without any issues. Having drank some of their house wine (delicious), the lights dimmed and we were treated with the first of many amazing fado concerts. In between our courses, we were continuously treated with concerts from amazing Fado singers of all ages. Talk about talented hosts: Philippe is not only a very lovely man who loves to chat with his guests, he's also a great musician. Not to mention his wife Claudia who certainly mastered the skill of putting emotion in Fado. Blown away... Wow, what an experience! I could not recommend O Corrido highly enough - the service was amazing, the singers absolutely incredible and food was great. My wife and I travelled from New Zealand and stumbled upon O Corrido when wandering the streets of Lisbon and were fortunate enough to be able to get seating without a prior reservation. The place was packed and I understand why, the singers were so talented and the host was so incredibly welcoming, friendly and attentive and took the time to speak with each table and educate them on the songs and history whilst ensuring they were well looked after. It must be a real challenge for the kitchen to deal with shifts between the sets, but this seemed to work very smoothly. The food itself had ups and downs. It was our first exposure to Live Fado… and the bar was set very high, singers make you not only listen but feel the Fado, we listened to quite a few other Fados during our trip in Portugal and nothing was even close to o Corrido and its amazing performers. Owner was very welcoming and singers were so approachable. Food was more than great, we enjoyed every single plate, each one of them so different from another, yet blended perfectly… so very special. The fado is worth coming for here alone. The musicians go table to table and answer any questions you may have. There were 3 different kinds of singers- first one was a girl, second was a guy, third had a duet. I really appreciated the different styles of the singing and the different singers allowed us to hear how fado sounded with different voices and songs. They sang for about 15 min with 30 min in between for patrons to eat. The whole performance lasted about 3 hrs together. For food, I really liked the clams as an appetizer and the cheesecake was amazing. We also got the octopus and roasted cod. While both were cooked well, I thought the flavor was a little lacking. One of the best experiences ever. We had a wonderful night, the host is really great, goes around the restaurant welcoming everybody and answering whatever questions we had about Fado. I have traveled a lot and I can say with complete honesty that this is one of the best things I've had the pleasure to enjoy in Lisbon! Claudia and Filipe are incredible hosts and the music is beyond anything I can describe with words. Expect to be moved, expect to laugh, maybe cry, all the emotions are there. Felipe explained so much about Fado in between the sets and honestly the performers were exceptional. The food is fantastic and I met new friends that I hope to know for a lifetime. Our hotel recommended Casa De Fado for an authentic Fado experience- and that is exactly what we had! Be sure and reserve your table early in the day, because we saw several disappointed people turned away without reservations. The restaurant ambience is wonderful and the Fado performances intimate. There are really no bad seats. This is the first time I have heard Fado, and it was amazing how the singers voice projects without a microphone. Our dinner was delicious and quite affordable. The performers explained the concept of Fado to us . We learned that "Fado is FELT, not heard ". Yes, indeed. We could not have wished for a better experience! Even though the place was fully booked we were offered a table outside that still allowed us to see the Fado performance. We were warmly welcomed by the hostess (also the owner-Claudia) and the waitress (Katerina). Both of them turned out to be singers later in the night with beautiful voices. We were treated as if we were a part of the family! Claudia went above and beyond by offering her personal(!) scarf to keep me warm outside as the weather was chilly. She also offered us a sample of one of their dishes at no charge. Not to mention, food was amazing! If you are looking for a truly warm Fado experience- O Corrido is the place to go! A wonderful place to enjoy a good dinner and listen to moving Fado… This restaurant is quite young and suffered a lot from the recent pandemic. We had a lovely dinner there with quality local food. The wine was excellent and reasonably priced. Service was friendly too. But what was really exceptional was the Fado live music. The boss is playing Portuguese guitar with tremendous agility. He is very adamant to share his deep knowledge about the roots and the spirit of Fado when visiting you at your table. And the singers he is hiring are really moving with their deep involvement into singing Fado. One of the highlights of our trip to Lisbon. Even when our group was stuck across the river, waiting for a delayed ferry and an hour late, the owners reached out and made sure we weren’t worried about being a whole hour late. The table for 8 people was set and waiting for us right in front of the performers on the main floor. We had many conversations with the owners, performers, and they even sang for my friend’s birthday with a special dessert. It was my very first experience with Fado last night and thanks to Claudia and Filipe won’t be my last one! The most wonderful, soul touching experience in my life. I didn’t understand the lyrics but Claudias voice and music were so perfect it made me cry few times. Must must visit! 10/10!! First of all the food and the service are amazing! (They speak flawless English.) I ordered a steak which in my opinion cooked to perfection, and the seasoning is on point! But the Fado, that was something else, gave me goose bumps, it was so well preformed, the singer (which is also the owner) has a voice of an angel! Usually I spend around an hour top at any restaurant, here I stayed until they closed (2 hours of enjoying excellent food, drinks and Fado). Also the place is located in a very interesting area with lots of things to see, so after food do not miss the opportunity to walk around its truly beautiful area. Our first night in Lisbon we arrived at around 5PM! Checked in and dropped off our stuff at the hotel. My wife searched for a place that serves good food and has authentic Fado. She found O Corrido. It was the perfect night and a great experience. Five stars for the waiter who was multilingual, very detail oriented, friendly and explained the concept very kindly. Also questions about the dishes on the menu he was absolutely able to answer right away. Compliment to the chefs who cooked for us the beautiful and tasty dishes. The highlight: Fado! Usually I never do reviews of places I went to, as I prefer the mouth to mouth recommendations, but this place really deserves to be discovered. I booked through The Fork one hour in advance of going there and had no idea what I had booked, only that they were supposed to have Fado music playing.. I was met by a lady with the sweetest smile and the atmosphere was there from the start, with a good mixture of locals and foreigners. Then we ordered the 12€ jar of house wine and filled our glasses. Suddenly a man with a guitar comes to our table and asks us whether we know anything about Fado, we shake our heads and he starts explaining. After going to every table like that, he goes to the corner of the restaurant and is joined by another guitarist, the lights go down, everybody gets quiet and they start playing. After one instrumental a young woman from one of the table gets up and start singing, and we are all stunned. And then the "waitress" with the lovely smile puts out her hair and goes on "stage", and the force of her voice is so incredible that tears come to the eyes. I could go on and on in this way, but there is no doubt that this must be the best place in Lisbon to enjoy Fado in world class with some good wine and food at a very reasonable price! Thank you Filipe and Claudia for this wonderful night, I look forward to returning in the future.
