  I’m so glad I found this hidden gem! The service was spectacular and the food was probably the best meal I had in Portugal. It’s a small place and it’s so cozy. We sat outside and everything was incredible! My husband and I had the octopus salad, mixed salad, soup of the day, sangria, oven roasted octopus, bread and olives, gingha shots, espresso and the grilled sea bass. So much food and everything was under $60 USD. Incredible value, generous portions, and simply delicious! I will be coming back and recommending this place to everyone visiting Lisbon.   Nice Portuguese restaurant that provides local food, a nice terrace, peace and comfort from the otherwise busy streets of the Alfama district and a bit of shade from the neighbouring trees. We could recommend the mixed fish plate that serves sardines, squids, octopus, potatoes and a salad for just 15 Euro or the tuna steak. Your kids can play on the playground nearby while you could enjoy your meal.   Super charming little restaurant (kind of) hidden in Alfama district. This was recommended to us and, oh yeah, it's good. While there we talked to a nice French man who told us about the history of the surrounding area. We had the chorizo and the codfish along with some olives. Really a good experience.   The staff were absolutely wonderful, so friendly and accommodating. We had the grilled tuna and grilled swordfish, both were really nice but the whole dish was very plain.   It’s been an amazing experience visiting this local gem in the busy area of Lisbon. We wanted to try something local, and avoid the casual tourist traps this area has to offer. The place has a cozy outdoor space which makes the experience even better. The prices are superb - about a third of the average price -, the food is nothing special but tastes like a great local meal with fresh fish. The service is top top top, managed by the kindest man, and the servers are also extremely lovely! They made our experience special!   I do not understand how this place has so many positive reviews. We went here for our last night in Lisbon and, after a month of eating so well in the city, were disappointed for the first time. The pastéis de bacalhau were obviously frozen and then overcooked. Then we had the bacalhau a casa, or salted cod. It was inedible - no flavor, no salt, chewy, and full of bones. The worst part is that they were patronizing and tried to blame the preparation of the fish - that because it is salted, boiled and then cooked, that is why we might not like it. But as someone who grew up eating bacalhau, loves it, and prepares it herself, I am well aware of the preparation method and it is no excuse for the terrible taste. I think they need to consider researching more how to prepare a good bacalhau. They did remove one of the plates from the bill because I couldn’t eat it, but we would have much rather paid full price for good food. And everything was disappointing - the olives, the bread, the sangria. A tourist trap and not an “authentic Portuguese experience” in the slightest. Eles removeram um dos pratos da conta porque eu não conseguia comê-lo, mas preferiríamos pagar o preço total por uma boa comida. E tudo foi decepcionante - as azeitonas, o pão, a sangria. Uma armadilha turística e nem um pouco uma “autêntica experiência portuguesa”.

  This restaurant has a nice location and friendly staff. It has really authentic looking terrace as well. The downside is that the food it really bland and plain. The steak was not cooked very well and contained a lot of fat. The squid was ok, but we found some hairs in them. We had higher expectations of this place.   We loved our meal here. The calamari was super fresh and some of the best we've had. Grilled sardines and grilled pork chops were simply prepared and incredibly flavourful. And the sangria was fantastic. As good as the food was, though, it was the service which stole the show. They owners were kind, helpful (with the language and menu) and friendly. We ate 5 people and had some smaller drinks. Over all it was 15Euros per person including two desserts. The fish was superb!   I’m so sorry to say that nothing in this restaurant explains the rating of 4.7. The fish was dry, the fries weren’t even real fries but they tried to frie cooked potatoes (and didnt get it), the salad was just a bit of sad green salad added tomatoes, onions and carrots with oil. The staff was not able to fullfill extra wishes (tomato salad instead of green salad - they brought pure tomatoes without everything). The wine wasnt good. Two stars because they were friendly.   Why can’t I give more than 5 stars!!! I also had the seafood in the Northern Europe. Those restaurants claim their seafood is the best and freshest. However, you can trust me that this restaurant is way better than I had tried ones which included Michelin star restaurants. I know what is the fresh and best seafood cuz I grew in a seaside village. In the meantime, their prices are fair by getting rid of the fancy decorations. However the environment is clean and tidy without the stinky stale smell. The service is friendly and nice.   Randomly stumbled across this restaurant while wandering around Lisbon, and decided to eat outside. Really enjoyed the oven roasted octopus, it was incredibly tender and flavorful. The service was also very good, and each staff member was kind and attentive. Portions are rather generous for the value (especially the house wine).   Lovely family restaurant off the beaten path. Everything was delicious and cooked perfectly. So glad we found this place by accident. We kept joking with the owner that we wanted to add our reviews to get him up to the 5 stars he deserves.   Quite awkward to find this restaurant but finally find out. It’s small inside, staff are nice and friendly. Squid rings were really good and you get a big portion for €6.   We visited the Castelo Sao Jorge and searched for good seafood places nearby. Google maps brought us to this charming, family-run restaurant with some of the best grilled whole sea bream and swordfish steak we have had. Our appetizer consisted of codfish cakes, also delectable. Dinner for two, with a shared starter, excellent fish, and half-carafe of wine, was so reasonable we couldn’t believe it.   The food tasted like what it looked like - bland. I was skeptical at first. There was no one there and the food did not look good. The server was pushy to seat us. Most, if not all, of the reviews for this restaurant are for sure fake. I am new to Lisbon, but this restaurant in comparison to yesterday's dinner was below average. We had a fantastic meal the day before, so quite strange that this place has hundreds of more reviews than a legitimate restaurant and 10X more reviews. You will feel underwhelmed at this place and wonder why the rating is so high when the food is just meh. The reviews are all fake. "If you eat the bread, we will charge you one euro." Charged us the one Euro even though we didn't touch the bread... so I removed a star for that. I should remove another star for the quantity of fake reviews... Likely, the management for this restaurant is bad.. I'd say this place is a solid 3 stars, but since they nickel and dime tourists, they lose a point.   This tiny gem is found in the little nook in the Alfama. The staff was so warm and friendly and the fish (we ordered the grilled sea bass) was literally the best I’ve ever had. Everything is so simple but so perfect. Food came out with olives and fresh bread and meal came with boiled potatoes and a simple salad.   Excellent and fresh food. My girlfriend and I tried Seabream and grilled octopus - they were fantastic. Generally, I am not into fish, but the Seabream was delicious, and I may order it for myself next time we come. What a discovery! They do french fries from fresh potatoes, so they are super tasty! The prices are more than fair, for mentioned dishes with 0,5l of house white wine we paid only 21€. The service is also top-notch, with friendly staff who make you feel very welcome.   My husband and I stopped here for dinner after spending the day traveling to Lisbon by train from Lagos. We were fortunate to grab a table outside on the sidewalk without any wait. The food and wine are delicious, the prices reasonable, and the wait staff exceptionally friendly. We sat at their lovely terrace surrounded by the picturesque streets and houses that are emblematic of Alfama.   When entering this place surely doesn't look promising, but don't be fooled! We ordered the salmon, seabass and sea bream and we were blown away. The salmon was by far the best - amazing texture and taste, you could really taste the freshness. I simply don't have the words to describe how good it was. The seabass was also the best one i had ever tasted and the sea bream didn't dissapoint either. If I had to suggest you one place in Lisbon to try some amazing seafood, it would be this one.   Worth every stair step to get there. :) probably the best grilled fish i have ever had in my life period. You cannot beat the prices. The food is literally home made.
