  Our concierge recommended Faz Frio as an authentic Portuguese restaurant and it was! The restaurant has existed since 1873. The decor has heavily worn marble floors and charcoal drawings on the walls. It was awesome. The dining areas are broken into small rooms so your party can feel intimate. The food was excellent as well. We started with a white “Invincible” wine from Lisbon. It was excellent. We then ordered the bread basket with olives, butter with paprika and hummus. The bread tasted fresh and homemade. Next came the croquettes, which are made with a mixture of pork, chicken and beef. The taste was delicious, like smoked sausage. The texture inside was a little soft/raw for me, but the taste was amazing. We then had the sautéed shrimp with a to-die-for sauce. It tasted like sausage gravy my grandmother would make for biscuits, but was thin, not think. SO GOOD. We also shared the tiger shrimp that tastes like lobster. Instead of rice, we had truffle mashed potatoes (a 10 out of 10). They were creamy with truffles shaved on top, not truffle oil that over powered the dish. We had the chocolate mousse for dessert with crushed, roasted almonds. OMG! A great way to finish a meal. I highly recommend you try this spot when in Lisbon and make time for a walk in the neighborhood afterward. They don’t take reservations, so come early if you don’t want a long wait. A decoração tem piso de mármore muito desgastado e desenhos a carvão nas paredes. Foi incrível. As áreas de jantar são divididas em pequenas salas para que sua festa seja íntima. A comida também era excelente. Começámos com um vinho branco “Invencível” de Lisboa. Foi excelente. Pedimos então o cesto de pão com azeitonas, manteiga com páprica e hummus. O pão tinha um sabor fresco e caseiro. Em seguida vieram os croquetes, que são feitos com uma mistura de carne suína, frango e bovina. O sabor era delicioso, como linguiça defumada. A textura por dentro era um pouco macia/crua para mim, mas o sabor era incrível. Comemos então o camarão salteado com um molho delicioso. Tinha gosto de molho de salsicha que minha avó faria para biscoitos, mas era fino, não acho. TÃO BOM. Também compartilhamos o camarão tigre que tem gosto de lagosta. Em vez de arroz, comemos purê de batata trufado (10 em 10). Eles eram cremosos com trufas raspadas por cima, e não com óleo de trufas que alimentava demais o prato. De sobremesa pedimos mousse de chocolate com amêndoas torradas e trituradas. OH MEU DEUS! Uma ótima maneira de terminar uma refeição. Eu recomendo fortemente que você experimente este lugar quando estiver em Lisboa e depois reserve um tempo para passear pelo bairro. Eles não aceitam reservas, então chegue cedo se não quiser esperar muito.

  Lovely and cozy vibe. We only stayed for drinks but really enjoyed sitting at the bar. The atmosphere is really airy, and the restaurant is decorated really nicely. They made great cocktails.   Food: Ordered soup and main dish. Soup was "okay", but the steak was hardly something you could call a steak - extremely bland piece of meat with a conservative portion of sides. Also floating in some sort of sauce, that wasn't great either. Below average for the price paid. I wish I could attach a photo, but I didn't even think of taking it. Service: Did not speak english well. What really ticked me off, was added "tip" fee that they didn't mention or explain - only noticed it on receipt when already paid. Additionally charged water that was served without question. Not very kind at all, the service was also below average. Atmosphere: Extremely crammed - couldn't even sit down properly.   Great foodie experience, particularly for late night dining. We had a walk in table at about 23:10 but note that although the restaurant is open late, the kitchen closes around 23:20 so we got our order in quickly. Very nice staff, great menu and nice to get a small plate of jamon and bread complimentary. Oysters were some of the best I had in Lisbon and their house wine was delicious and very reasonable.   The food is nice and very fresh! We loved the seafood rice which is similar to paella as well as garlic clams and they serve oysters! The chocolate mousse and watermelon are delicious too. However, it was very disappointed when the waiter brought a basket of bread, cheese, some hummus and butter and jam without our approval and just placed it on the table. All this little treatment costed us extra 18€ which I think is unrespectful and not nice to do towards your clients. This killed the whole vibe of the place.   I would have given an overall 4, but I am not so sure it would be deserved. I think we are around 3.5. The service is really kind but a bit slow I must say. The food is good, but it is not anything I will remember for ever. The salada de polvo is a bit to expensive for the portion.   Probably my least favorite place we ate in Lisbon. Cozy setting and loved the tiles in the restaurant but food was just ok. The octopus didn’t have enough sauce/oil and the best thing on the plate was the potatoes. The chimchurri sauce for the steak was more like a paste that wasn’t great. The croquettes were just ok.   We enjoyed the food, but didn’t think it was “wow”. We’re surprised once we sat down, we were served some bread, cheese and olives (small appies). We thought it was complimentary coz we didn’t order them. We were charged €20 for those appies which we didn’t order, at the end of the meal. Each dish was not pricey, but considering that portions were very small, we had to order a lot to be full enough. Each small fried croquette costs €1.50. We ended feeling a little “fleeced”.   I have been here for dinner with my fiancé. During the waiting for a table we were served with a daily cocktail.   One of the worst experiences in my life to be the part of staff in this restaurant to where they show fake smile to customers..when customers asks expensive drink they are serving cheap drinks charging the value of expensives one..they just create the drink called cocktail of the day with lemon juice sugar cyrup ( vodka , gin , rum ) and adding one of the cheapest sparking wine and adding fresh juices and selling it to 10 euros per glass..if it doest sell it out keeping same drink tomorrow ...so how it could be the cocktail of the day??...biggest scam in this restaurant .. if you go for the ginja ...they will show the expensive bottle but it will be filled with cheapest one to where they throw the cheapest bottle into the garbages !!   People aren't lying, this place is AMAZING! The bread and the spreads that come with it are out of this world. The Cod dish was some of the best Cod I've ever had and don't even get me started on the sauces that are used in the various dishes... They're all delicious and unique. The Chefs are true artists because not only does the food taste good, but it looks amazing as well. I will be telling everyone I know that plans to go to Lisbon that Faz Frio is a must. The waitstaff were also so extremely pleasant and funny. They must have been on their feet all day, but they were upbeat and on top of things. The only downside was it took a while to get the check, but that's something I've noticed in many restaurants in Lisbon. I'm pretty sure they just want you to enjoy sitting and chatting. They never rush you out the door. I recommend getting various appetizers and sharing a main dish. The portion sizes are generous all around. They definitely do not skimp.   OK dinner but overpriced. Finding out that the couvert cheese and olives at the start that we hadn’t ordered were on the bill left a sour taste in the mouth. The waitress took them off the bill, but given the prices of what we did order, they shouldn’t have had to resort to such tactics to begin with. Service was very good though and staff friendly.   The reviews aren’t lying. We are here last night after struggling to find a less touristy restaurant and by far it was the best meal we’ve had. They don’t take bookings so once you arrive you can sit at the bar or order drinks outside from the window till your table is ready. Yes the bread, butter and cheese is to die for but the short ribs with truffle mash and the steak with egg was just as delicious. Loved the cocktails but the second one with rum and orange was incredible. The staff here are an absolute joy, very friendly and they’ll happily recommend their favourites from the menu which I ordered.   We went here twice on our holiday for cocktails. Both times the staff were amazing, so friendly and welcoming. They went out of there way to make us cocktails that were not on the menu but based on the flavours we liked. All of these were delicious!   A very disappointing experience, I wouldn’t recommend sitting outside. Although the servers were lovely we didn’t get the glasses of wine and water we ordered until we had finished eating.   Food was good indeed, but the ethics in this restaurant aren't worth the go. First, we asked for a recommendation for the wine the waiter proposed the most expensive one and the second most expensive one, he than offered us water Wich come happened to bottled. I asked him if we could have tap water he said that it isn't the restaurant policies to give out running water. After we commended the food he insisted on us trying the couvert ( bred and butter priced at 4$ on the menu) at the end of the meal we asked the bill and we were surprised to see an extra for something we couldn't understand, we asked the waiter and it was a cheese that came on the same plate as the butter and bread. I told him that we haven't ordered cheese, his answer was " it is the law in Portland if we place something on your table and you eat it we can charge for it" waow... I was extremely disappointed and couldn't enjoy the food I had, I asked him again kindly why such a behavior he then answer " I am told to do so" .   Food was very good but service was terrible. Maybe it was just a bad night, or maybe they want Portuguese locals only. But asked the waiter multiple times for a pitcher of sangria that he never brought out but surely tried to sneak it on the bill. He did remove it off the check, but what kind of server doesn’t bring it out nor check up on you to see if you have everything. (1) they brought us food, but forgot about bringing wine and water; (2) the starter was never served; (3) they tried to overcharge me 4 EUR for the starter, that was never served; (4) when I asked to edit the check & delete the starter, I heard staff laughing at the counter, most likely due to the fact that "their little trick did not work out". My girlfriend and I stumbled across this place for a late dinner and George the owner immediately welcomed us in and showed us an amazing time. When we had him choose which food to get, he was honest and chose the right foods without trying to over charge us.   You can have a private boot in this restaurant. Had diner for 1. An experience is always personal but the people next to me,behind me and myself had the best time. Staff looked happy, quick, hard working and had a personal approach, immediately responding to my needs. My vegan dish was excellent as well as the glass of house wine and the olives with bread and butter(not vegan).   Stumbled across this place by accident and after being seated in the cosy interior we were plied with a series of exquisite morsels ranging from deliciously tender octopus to a hearty cod and chickpea salad - you have never tasted chickpeas like it.   This place was a great surprise on our recent trip to Lisboa. We went in on a whim and sat at the bar for drinks. Bartender was really outstanding and helped make recommendations based on our preferences. A lot of interesting takes on standard cocktails! Had a couple small plates as a late dinner...they we're all really good. Very intimate, might not be a great spot for a large group, but I'm not sure if there is more seating in the back.   This is a great little restaurant, with excellent service. It was sophisticated food, served simply. We had the lamb with mint, followed by a chocolate mousse with a sweet pumpkin and citrus sauce.   Very small restaurant with flavorful food and cute decor but uncomfortable chairs to sit on for the time you have to wait for everything you order. A bartender that doesn't know how to make drinks from their menu. Over 10 minutes to receive water and glass of wine. Over 30 minutes to receive soup. Over 1 hour to receive 2 dishes that do not require ample amount of cooking time. Side of plain white rice that took so long we were done eating. And a manager that guided the server on his first day of work to say tap water is unsafe to be served (in Lisbon nonetheless). What I saw today was an unorganized business that seems to run understaffed at the front and back of the house. Meals dont need to come out in 20 minutes but also not in 60 minutes. I paid for bottled water when I ordered tap. I paid for rice that i cancelled 2x and it never touched out table. I also left a regular tip for the new waiter who was doing his best but could not count on kitchen staff. We did not hear a "sorry for the delay 'or "thank you for coming".   What an excellent meal from a quality staff! My wife and I were there for probably 3 hours and were one of the last to leave. All of the dishes were outstanding. I got the Pork with Polenta and my wife got the Cod with Octopus. Each dish we had was traditional Portuguese but with modern takes. We really appreciated the authenticity and quality of the food.   This was a recommendation from Chef Helder Branco from Momento HB and they definitely lived up to this recommendation. We left most of our orders up to the advice of the servers & bartender. Ginga-style Old Fashioned cocktail was great... drink it slow to enjoy how the flavors change. The mezcal cocktail was a great recommendation from the bartender, who visited our table as well. The meal was amazing! We had it served family-style so we could all enjoy. We had the pork belly, cod, grouper, and lamb dishes and they were all great recommendations!   We celebrated my boyfriend’s birthday at Faz Frio’s “chambre spearee”, Faz Parte, on the 1st floor over the restaurant last weekend. Everything was fantastic: the service, the food and the location. Jorge and Luisa were super helpful when it came to planning the evening and they also helped me with a few elements to surprise my boyfriend.
