If I could give 6 stars I would. The experience was absolutely amazing. This venue had more personality then any other eatery ive ever been to. Watching the chaos and the eccentric atmosphere of the kitchen was absolutely enjoyable. Come with patience and enjoy the show,the food is only part of the journey! Recommend! Go early and be prepared to line up (takeaway may be the move given that the space inside is quite tight). However, as other reviews have mentioned, this place is run as a one person operation. If you go to this spot understanding that you'll need to be patient and play by the owners rules, you'll be fine. I came in based on a suggestion from some friends and also having read reviews, so I knew what to expect. She's not being rude! She is juggling a lot and has been doing this for a long time. This is a one woman show, so come prepared for that! Some of the best food I’ve ever had. She can be intimidating to interact with, but she just means business because she is busy. Have a good idea of what you want to order before reaching the counter. Arrive 30 minutes before opening to help ensure you can get a seat. This place is takeout only!!! We waited outside behind a couple other small groups waiting for one of the two tables inside and we waited out there for a very long time as more and more people kept going in and lining up for takeout, until we were next for the open available and as we tried to sit down the chef yelled at us that we need to get in the same long line as all the other people who got there after us and just wanted takeout so we ended up leaving disappointed. I had difficult time recalling the name of this restaurant so I utilized the geo information/Google map to find this hidden gem (again). Just like other local Portuguese eateries, the restaurant is not 'covered' with big awning, so use your Google map wisely to get here. This placed hooked me up on the periperi seasoning and the wood fired grilled meats. As expected, wood fired grilled meats are not the most tender meats, but the flavors! Oh boy!! The meal I had here with my family is still one of the memorable meals I eve had. Due to limited seating at the restaurant, I utilized the takeout option to bring the food to the nearby park. It was more magical than watching fireworks at the Disney's Magic Kingdom. You should try as if you get a chance to visit the Bairo Alto area. The food is absolutely delicious, and so affordable with big portions (if you manage to have it). I've read many comments about the "horrible service". It's true that the feeling of the service can be very personal. We were the first in line that evening and we looked at the menu beforehand, so we got food quickly and the owner were super nice towards me and my friend. She was taking phone calls for reservation while cooking and preparing before opening, and she got impatient which can seem to be rude. She was motherly and generous to most people, but ruthlessly impolite to the ones who rubbed her the wrong way and considered unworthy of her succulent chicken. Excellent chicken and sides. We arrived not long after opening time and queued up for around 40 minutes. When it was our turn to be served, there weren’t any free tables (as to be expected) and so we took the food to go and ate at a nearby park. We ordered a whole chicken (spicy) which was really good. For sides we had curry rice, mashed potatoes and also a mushroom and eggplant side. All were delicious. Between the two of us, we spent €21.50 which also included two beers. Would recommend. The lady running the place let some friends of her skip the line even if I arrived much earlier and I was waiting for 1 hr. Even if I should have, I said and did nothing but reading my Kindle, and the owner started 1) accusing me of making her nervous 2) started being very hostile towards me 3) later when I was eating, talking behind my back in Portuguese with a friend thinking I couldn’t understand her (truth is I can speak Portuguese). This location came highly recommended. It's a small, cozy and very intimate restaurant that accomodates about six diners. We arrived at roughly 6:05pm (25 min before it opened) and a small line quickly formed. Most patrons got take away - since we arrived first, we were able to secure indoor seating. Of note, we had our hotel call ahead and the owner reciprocated. This might have been important if it were busier. The restaurant is a one-woman show and she's a bit eccentric. Perhaps with behaviors she's acquired in response to demanding customers. I found it detracted from the experience but the chicken was good. We ordered a half chicken, tomato salad, and vegetable rice. All were very tasty. The chicken didn't pack any heat (spiciness) but had a lot of flavor. Everything plus bottled water came to 12 euro (quite a deal). Even so, I wouldn't rate this a must-have dining experience. The food reminded me of home cooking and came at a very affordable price. I suppose this makes it a local favorite but it doesn't warrant all the hype. Certainty not waiting in a long line. Disappointed with the service we got. Please just hire some staff… I understood that this place is popular and small so I called in advance to make a booking. I only spoke English so perhaps it got lost in translation, but the lady was rude and before I could state my confirmation on my booking she hung up, so I did not get a booking. Nevertheless, my partner and I decided to give it a try and walked from the city centre to the restaurant. The place was DIFFICULT to find because the store has a different name to what was said on Google Maps. And maps was unclear of which street it was. When I tried to explain how I couldnt get a booking,the owner just told us they can’t take any walk ins today, but only takeouts even though there was no one else in line. This was even more frustrating as a kind customer who was finishing their meal early offered to let us come in and have his seats soon instead of standing outside in the rain. Not worth standing in line for one hour watching this lady serve a couple of tables while cooking and at the same time running the cash register. Also very rude, absolutely no manners, yelling at people in line what they want to order and getting upset if you order too much, at some point she even pushed me over when she went over to serve one of her tables. I would’ve walked out in a heartbeat but my husband really wanted to try this place. The chicken was super salty, and the tomato salad was just meh. Also if you’re concerned about cross contamination, this place is not for you…She uses the same tongs to flip over the cooked chicken and same ones to put the raw chicken on the grill and then she touches money, then goes back to cooking. Probably one of the best places in Lisbon for BBQ Chicken. The tomato salad, creamed spinach, and fries are very good as well. This place usually has people queueing outside to eat in, it is highly recommended to make reservations. Note: There is a separate entrance for take-out, which is super fast. Whilst the food tasted great, i suffered food poisoning from this meal.. I know this because i had to queue for an hour and was able to observe her cooking in the process. I saw how she had cleared the table, then proceeded to rub salt onto the raw chicken, followed by using her finger as a stopper to shake the vinaigrette dressing. All whilst not washing/sanitising her hands in the process. I understand that it isn’t easy to handle the customers on her own, but i believe it shouldnt be a reason to lax up on the food hygiene standards. Hope that the owner chef can consider sanitising/washing her hands more when handling both the raw and cooked food to prevent cross-contamination. Incredible peri peri chicken and sausages! I strongly recommend queuing up in the mid-to-late-afternoon if you don't want to be waiting over an hour to get served. There's a park nearby that you can go to with your friends or by yourself to enjoy the meal, so it's an easy take-out place, provided you plan around it. Me (British Indian guy) and my girlfriend (British Hong Kong girl) decided to test this place out…apprehensively to be honest as we saw the tag ‘racist’ in the review. If she was racist this would be the perfect test…a melting pot of the East to discriminate against whilst we sobbed eating Chicken, thankfully that wasn’t the case. The owner runs the show, she cooks, she serves, she cleans and anything else you have to do when handling a very in demand small restaurant with a continuous turnover. Her clientele is mainly tourists from what we saw and they’re all looking for the best Peri Chicken spot (in my opinion this is the one). The food is THE ONE, it’s tasty, juicy and DELICIOUS. We went for platter 2 which is Chicken, Sausage and ribs and we ordered loads of side - great choice, do it, it make everything work also go hot/spicy it makes the meal. The service was on point, although a little bit blunt, I guess you have to be when you’re doing everything. Some people can take it the wrong way but you’re not there to make friends it the best chicken place…focus on the food! Would I go back? 100%, loved it, it’s in one of my favourite places to eat. Let me put it out there - all those negative reviews absolutely should be ignored. Do NOT let those prevent you from sinking your teeth into some of, if not THE most incredible chicken I’ve ever had…and I have had a LOT of chicken over the years in all different countries. The flavour and perfect amount of smokiness from the charcoal mixed with the sauce is just delightful. The value for money is also incredible - just €24 for 2x chickens, 1 sausage and 1 large garlic rice. This wonderful woman is a modern day superhero, handling the ENTIRE restaurant herself. We listened to the reviews and arrived before open, 30mins early to be exact. It was pouring rain and although we hand umbrellas and stood under the awning, she invited us in and let us know she actually was full tonight but we could do takeaway. When I said 2x chickens for just my wife and I she was reluctant to fulfil the order as she doubted how much I can eat (way more than 1 whole chicken!). She is such a sweet woman who is clearly a hard worker and is very determined to put out the best quality she can. 10/10 would recommend. I finished 1.5 chickens and 1 sausage and wanted to keep going but wanted some left for the morning! Sadly we found this on our last evening in Lisbon. Would come back to Lisbon just to eat here again. I had dinner here 2 nights in a row it was so delicious. If you want delicious food from a one woman show, this is the place to be. There are not many seats inside so be prepared to wait or get food takeaway if its busy, I would recommend arriving 15 mins before opening. The first night we were first in line and able to be seated, the second night it was too busy due to reservations and a couple in line ahead of us so we got takeaway. I disagree with the comments that the owner is racist and rude. If you are respectful, patient and trust her process you will have no issues. She was lovely to my partner and I both encounters! Loved the food and absolutely adore the owner, chef, waiter, and chief bottle washer, Sonya. The chicken was tender but with a delectable crunchy skin fresh from her small grill, and had just the right amount of spice. The sides of plain rice, which wasn't plain at all as Sonya generously spooned some delicious sauce on it, and cooked mixed vegetables were a perfect pairing. We came here on a recommendation from Iz Harris with Eater during our trip in Lisbon. We checked reviews prior to coming and found that many were dissatisfied with the service found here. As an American, I often get caught up in the same expectation of expedited service that seems to define other reviews of Frangasqueira Nacional. However, as I waited for my takeaway, I saw Chef treat her patrons like family. Ensuring they were well fed, laughing, and making happy memories in her kitchen. Needless to say I was enchanted by this Chef and her restaurant, and I hope you are too. While the speed of service may not be what you are used to, as you wait for your meal you are invited into the warm loving kitchen of a Chef who can and will do everything to make you feel at home. Despite my trepidation in the doorway and my fumbling like a typical American, Chef took care of me and made sure to set us up with a takeout meal to make everyone else in the park jealous. She personally guided me by the hand outside and gave me directions to her favorite park at the end of the street. Steel your patience and wait for takeaway. She was so lovely, she saw I was the first in line and went to get a seat, then other people went and lined up in front of me, but before serving them she looked around for me and asked me what I wanted because I was before them. Sonia is a legend. Such an amazing friendly atmosphere, it's like a home away from home. It's a super tiny place (seats maybe about 8), but takeout is available. If you're willing to pre-book or wait for a space (or come back later) it's definitely worth it. I'd be tempted to say that tourist guides should include this as a must visit location but that may impede on the 'hidden gem' atmosphere. Her food is amazing! So flavoursome and amazing - prepare yourself to backwards haggle on the price as she must attempt to undercharge. There is no way that we just ate as much as we did and paid so little. Now I’m only rating the place, not the food. After about 5 minutes standing in line, the women owning the place started shouting and geting angry at a customer due to a problem with the sauce. Probably a communication problem between the two however the customer were respectful and calm all the time. On the other hand the women owning the place might have a had a stressful day or something happened in her personal life, we don’t know. First of all, the food: we had the chicken, the ribs, the rice with veg, the garlic potatoes and the tomato salad. All of it was excellent, the chicken a high point of our time in Lisbon. It's the sauces that make it, the green garlic laced one packs a real punch, there's spice too but it's not overpowering. It is by far the best piri piri we've had here. Second point: I'm baffled by any talk of service being rude. She's LOVELY. Eccentric, perhaps, but both front of house and chef at the same time in a packed, tiny restaurant where she's really keen to make sure you eat well. There's no bias to anybody, that we saw. Turn up, know what you want, have some basic manners, enjoy the best chicken in town. Glad we came here on our last night, and arrived early, as otherwise we'd have kept on coming back! Reviewing this a year after my visit. Simply the best peri peri chicken we had in Portugal. The sauce was amazing and chicken was both tender and charred nicely. The lady owner-chef is a maestro. 1 person handling everything from cooking 5 whole chickens on grill to collecting payment. I had the privilege of standing right in front of the grill and it's a wonder how all the chicken were cooked beuatifully even though they were on the fire for a pretty long time. IIRC, the owner does not speak much English, but she was really nice to us. Recommend you plan for takeaway. Don't bother waiting for a seat if you are not the first few there. I would love to be able to review the food. Unfortunately I cannot. I arrived a bit over an hour after opening and waited for 45 minutes in the queue. After the wait, the owner came outside, looked at me, and let me know that she didn’t have food for me and I should leave. She said the same to anyone else in the queue who didn’t look local. I left and had a lovely meal somewhere else, as did other people in the queue. Maybe the chicken is so good that this is worth it, but it seems that visitors to Lisbon might never know. I came here in 2020 with my wife. We both loved the amazing grilled chicken! The lady is a character. She made some borderline racist comments about both me and my wife. Food was just average don’t know what the fuzz was about and the staff there were totally racist towards (at least) Asians and blacks. My husband and I went there and the female cashier ignored me during the entire ordering process but would only speak to my white husband. Mind you, she was super delightful and smiling and polite to all the white people in the store. A very interesting and unforgettable dining experience. The single lady manning this entire restaurant takes on a lot each day. It’d be interesting what she could do with fewer things on her menu or even one more helping hand to take orders or package items. To comment on the “racist” aspects, she clearly demonstrates preferential treatment towards repeat clients and customers (we were first in line but got served 4th or 5th), and can be fairly abrasive as well, but I wouldn’t consider this behavior to be racist. I also don’t know why we weren’t offered a table for 2, I consider this place takeaway unless she really likes your group. With respect to her food, the chicken with spicy sauce is her best seller. I also liked both the traditional and blood sausage. Everything else is fairly forgettable - the tomato salad was alright but I’ve had better. It’s good to order to cut through the meat but I wouldn’t go out of my way for it. The mashed potato had lumps in it and didn’t have enough seasoning for me. Just a weird consistency overall. The chicken was really tasty, great sauces and really succulent, as was the rice, salad and spinach. However….. it was not an overall pleasant experience. The line had only 3 people on front of us, yet we waited an hour and a half to be served. There was obvious favouritism to locals and friends, even when we have been waiting an hour and they just arrived.. they were served first. The chef was pleasant at times but also very impatient and rude in some other moments. Give it a go if you dont mind waiting.. but dont go here expecting a good overall experience, and to receive good service, as we felt rather let down and to be honest. Amazing! The lady who works here does it all by herself. She’s lovely and the food is amazing. Get here at 6:30 or before this to beat the queue. We got here at 6:30 on the dot and she has already started serving. We waited about 40 minutes but it was all worth it. I found out about this place through Mark Wein's Lisbon guide and wanted to give this a try. There was no coke zero or any ice but we did not mind as we had our own water bottle. I would not be expecting full service for 1 person to do all this work but what stood out was the will power, the conviction, the food quality, and her genuine love for cooking which made this place seem special. I have seen other comments on poor service levels and my comment is not take things too personally, we live once and should try and experience something new and to put aside the comments and to just order a chicken and try it while your still in Lisbon! We went there at 1pm only to find that they were not open so made a reservation with the owner/lady to come back at 630pm, all I can say is this Piri Piri Chicken so succulent charred just right and that piri piri drizzle it's flavour is amazing it is, me and my partner had a whole Chicken, ribs, rice, salad and it was just fantastic and outta this world must be the best chicken I've tasted in my life and she agrees also we will be going back and I would especially come back to Lisbon from UK especially for that. Delicious! One of the best meals we had in Lisbon and super reasonably priced. Very minimal seats, probably better to get takeaway, get a bottle of wine and go and eat in the park. I’ve seen lots of reviews about the lady being rude, she was so lovely to us. It’s pretty much just her cooking and serving and her English is limited so just be patient and polite and you’ll be fine. It’s cash only, you order a chicken and/or sausages, and choose what sides you want. Expect a bit of a wait, get there close to opening time (6:30pm) be patient and just enjoy the experience. Should be 10 stars. We ordered mixed 2. 1/2 chicken, 3 big sausages and 6 ribs. Plain rice and curry rice on the side. All only €21.10. Not much service but totally understandable. The owner is the cook and 1 busy server never stopped taking orders and packing food. You can see all your food at the big grill, fresh. The owner would serve customers when she is not busy cooking. Ignore the reviews that say this lady is racist. I am Asian and she was very pleasant to me since I knew what I wanted to order. Has nothing to do with race. The people she was starting to get agitated with were those that were indecisive and couldn't figure out what they wanted, holding up the line. Understandable for the temper/stress she's under for a one-woman operation. Now on to the food - absolutely delicious! Standouts for me were the sausage and blood sausage. I never knew sausage could taste this good. Grilled to perfection with a nice amount of snap as you bite into it. Chicken too was delicious with a nice smokey flavour from the grill. This place is amazing!! The owner is a great woman, straight talking and running a very busy restaurant solo most evenings! The chicken is the best I’ve ever had, went back 2 days later as couldn’t go home without getting more. Also got the life changing mash potatoes and delicious tomato salad. I was told that this place was a must-visit when in Lisbon. I was also advised to know exactly what I wanted and not to ask any questions. We arrived at the restaurant early and had our order ready, assuming that we would have to take it to go. However, we were pleasantly surprised when we were told we could dine-in. We ordered two Mista Ones, one Mista Two, a side of blood sausage, wine, tomato salad, rice, garlic mashed potatoes, and were even given a complimentary side of cabbage and beans. The proprietor may seem tough, but she runs the place on her own, so it's important to be patient and offer assistance with setting up and cleaning. It was truly an honor to enjoy her delicious food! I have been here a few times so I think I can give it fair review. Don’t bother. The food is incredible - especially the salsa verde that comes with the grilled meat. 5 stars for food. However the experience is so terrible it isn’t worth it. The wait is long and it’s a one woman show which would be worth it for the food alone but the owner is the problem. Every single time I’ve been here she’s been screaming at customers, aggressive, rude and very racist and sexist. It’s difficult to stand waiting for your order for such a long time when she creates such a horrendous tense atmosphere. The last time I was here she was clearing the table inside for us to sit at and she screamed at me that I was in her way and went to aggressively shove me out of her way by the shoulders. She managed to stop herself at the very last moment - perhaps she’d because she’d had a full on meltdown literally 2 minutes before in front of all her customers, this time screaming at a pregnant lady just trying to rest on a chair. I’ve felt so incredibly anxious every time I’ve been her in presence that it’s genuinely not worth it going in there. She could hugely benefit from having another person to take orders and money so she does not have to be customer facing. But due to her foul racism I cannot support this business anyway and I suggest you do not either. There are plenty of other great churrasqueria’s in Lisbon that I’d rather support. Our second time visiting this spot, and we’re equally as satisfied by her cooking and her ability to run an entire restaurant on her own. Her barbecue never disappoints, she’s a master of the grill, no doubt about it. We always get the mix platter number two, which has chicken, sausage and pork ribs. This is the best plate you can order for a party of 2, BIG TIP, show up knowing what you want she’s not fond of recommending you what’s good. So save yourself the trouble and just go over the menu beforehand. The salads are a great compliment to the meat, just our favourite restaurant in Lisboa. This place is a one-woman show which has a great grilled chicken. We ordered one chicken and by the suggestion of someone at the line the ribs. But the ribs were pretty mediocre. If you go there don’t bother with anything other than the chicken. The line goes very slowly and you may see people coming and picking up food ahead of you apparently by pre-order. So go there with the expectation that you will be waiting for some time. We were one of the first people in the line when it opened and still when it was our turn she ran out of the tomato salad that we wanted. The chicken itself is marinated and then grilled on a charcoal grill and after she picks them from the grill she rubs a few different sauces on it. I think the herbal and garlic sauce that she adds is a bit too overpowering, so you may want to ask for a bit less of it if too much garlic and herbs is not your thing. Visited in Fall 2022. We had the chicken and rice which were both super delicious. Get the spicy sauce (it’s not too spicy). My wife and I loved this tiny place - like super, 3 tables, tiny. Of course there are a couple tables outside. The food is excellent and very affordable. The owner is also the sole cook and waitress, so she is super busy cooking, taking orders, clearing tables and cashing people out. Seasoning and leg meat tasted nice and moist but the chicken was small and quite bony and the breast was dry. My friends liked the sausages but mine was underdone. Mash was fine, a tad lumpy. This place comes with some swag but gosh that was all worth. It was my longest wait for a meal but the result at the end was worth every second. Read a lot of reviews on the owner’s attitude and I personally don’t mind it as it’s seams to be the whole experience of the place and if you are too stuck up this isn’t the place for you. What a gem of a spot. Come here for takeout only since seating inside is extremely limited (10 people max) and two small tables outside but that’s for the takeout crew if they wish to use them. The woman who works there (presumably the owner) is extremely impressive the way she runs this entire restaurant by herself with no help and she's clearly passionate about her food. Simply amazing. Be patient: it took us about an hour to get our food, it's kind of crazy because this one person runs her place and takes orders, cooks the food, and clears tables. However, the food was worth every minute! A half chicken is perfect for one person, and I suggest to get some of both the ribs and chicken and share with a companion in order to try both. The piri piri meat is perfectly grilled and seasoned! Very very flavorful and delicious. And the "spicy" version was not too hot for me. Best Chicken of my life! Be warned very tricky to get a table and you have to be patient and hang in there, but it was 100% worth the wait. It’s awe-inspiring to see this one lady running the entire thing, she was so generous, giving us extra food at the end and refusing any extra payment. We (2) shared the Misto 2 (1/2 Chicken, 6 ribs, 3 sausage) as well as the homemade crisps (!), tomato salad, rice (coated in rendered chicken fat…🤤) and 4 beers which was more than enough food and came to €20 total. If you could only eat at one place in Lisbon, this has to be it! The restaurant is a one-woman show but that adds to the authenticity of the place. Eating here felt like eating at home, as you hear the lady sing while cooking and personally deliver the dishes to your table with aplomb. The superb food is grilled to perfection over charcoal. The chicken and ribs were juicy and flavorful—and when paired with the spicy basting sauce used in grilling—was out of this world! Meanwhile, the selection of salads were a great match to the grilled meats. I hope more people get to experience eating at this place as it was truly one of a kind! It was pretty much the highlight of food experience in Lisbon if i can say so. I strongly advice to come as early as you can, so 6-7 pm. We came at 8pm the first time and there was no food left by that point. The lady is an army of one man, as she does everything alone. The food was amazing. We had Mix 1 and two types of salad, which was more than enough for 2 people. The lady is lovely and helpful, she'll advice you good. There is a constant bossa nova music going on. Great vibe, price and food. The owner of the place loves what she does. It was hard to find the place because there was no visible sign outside but we finally made it. The two dishes of meat were 11.75 Euros, with the rice and chips as side plates plus some beverages it all came down to ~18 euros. The owner was singing and really enjoying herself while she was cooking, bringing food to the tables and receiving payments. She only takes cash. The food is delicious, and the owner who works here works alone tremendously hard. You can tell she cares about the business as she runs around from client to grill trying to keep everything afloat. Trying to find the menu online is a challenge and trying to understand the hours is also a challenge as they are closed on days which normal businesses/holidays are not. After searching the internet for a place to eat chicken peri peri I stumbled upon this restaurant. Since many people said to go early due to the minimal seating we did just that. The restaurant itself is tiny. Maybe 6 people at the most are able to be seated. However the majority of the people came for take aways. The menu is small but has everything you can ask for. We ordered a mixed meat platter and were definitely not disappointed. All the meats came straight from the braai and were afterwards drizzled with the peri peri sauce. The fries were a bit strange. We received chips in abrown paper bag. But they were also tasty. The atmosphere was very homelike. The chef cook was pleasant and interacted with each of the guest bringing the food personally to each table and still preparing the take aways. After eating here and trying other restaurants in comparison I must say this restaurant served the best chicken peri peri. Food is very good. And the owner is a sweet lady. That said, this not a place to come for a quick service or predictability. We got there 10 min before opening at 11:50am. The team was busy preparing for the opening. I don’t understand Portuguese at all, but what I gathered is that they were dealing with some equipment issue, and an oil spillage on the floor. We along with others could see that they were busily grilling food but they also wouldn’t serve us after 12pm. They seemed very overwhelmed, and there wasn’t even a long line of hangry customers so I can understand how some other reviewers had much less positive experiences. After a rather long period of confusion, we eventually got to put our order in, which was one full chicken, small sides of garlic rice and tomato salad, and blood sausage (yea.. we ate A LOT). Since it was just us and a couple other take out customers, we were able to eat outside at the lone table on the street. I think we started eating close to 1pm. Food was very delicious and affordable (less than €15 for all the food we ordered). I really liked everything. And even though there was a language barrier, the owner was very sweet and attentive once we started eating. It added to the experience. But this is not a place for a quick in and out operation. Best food experience for my 3 day trip to Lisbon. I originally went there on a Tuesday and she told me she was closed. I told her that i will be back the next day and dont forget my face. I got here right when it opened and got to talk with the owner before it got busy. She was quite authentic and added to the overall experience. The chicken was so amazing ended up coming here 3 times over our 5 days in Lisbon. Expect to wait as all the previous reviews have mentioned but grab a beer from the fridge and make the most the most of it. It’s worth it. Tried the Mista 1 to sample everything. The ribs and sausage were good but the chicken is the star of the show and we ordered just the chicken for our return visits. Don’t forget the piri piri sauce. The garlic rice is also amazing. If you’re going for lunch, there’s a lunch special that’s not listed on the menu. Not sure how much it costs but saw some people order it and it includes 1/4 chicken and some sides. Before I visit a city I search for food recommendation ok the web. I took time and effort to get to this place just to be greated with a long waiting line, chaotic delivery process and rude staff. While we can all be understanding and everything few things. This is their business, it should have some standards. If they can't meet them that's a problem. The chef isn't our Aunt who had a bad day. From other reviews I see she has bad days quite often. As a slav I'm used to rude service but in this place you see that she is doing a lot of things on purpose. Food is good, nothing "wow". This level of food is easy to replicate. They got from me 3stars for food. If I wasn't used to bad service it would be zero stars. To summarize, ask someone to stay for you for 30min-2h in queue so you don't have to experience the rudeness so you can enjoy your food in some other, nicer place. I had such mixed experience about this place. Satisfied by the foods, angry by the 2 hour wait, tired by the queuing, sympathised with the cook who was so overwhelmed by their own disorganization. On one hand, the food were great value of money, but definitely not worthy of the time and effort we spent to actual get it. Grilling is supposed to deliver fun, happy vibe but this was too awkward of a situation where we just didn’t want to wait anymore but it was already 1 hour so we had to go for it. The service can be considered rude or neglecting at times, but considering you have to stand next to a grill for hours , take order and payment, it’s understandable. This place has great charcoal cooked piri piri chicken, pork ribs and sausages. The price is amazing and the food is fresh off the grill. Food was absolutely delicious. The mista #1 came with plenty of food for two of us even after a long day trekking around Sintra. It came with 1/2 chicken, 4 ribs and a sausage. We ordered rice and salad on the side and had a cold Sagres to wash it all down. The chicken was juicy and well season with a hint of spice and just the right amount of salt. The ribs were incredibly and marinated in the same or similar sauce they used for the chicken. The sausage was good but can be skipped if you're looking for just the top elements they serve. The rice was cooked with garlic so had a nice flavor to it as well. Recommend coming right when it opens if you plan to eat in. Space is only big enough for about 6 people total so most get takeaway. Of the 5 days I spent in Portugal, I can say that this is easily the #1 meal I've had, both in terms of taste and value. The service might be a little slow, and there will be a queue, but it's all worth it. I came out of the store smelling like grilled chicken but it's all worth it. I ordered Mista 1, which includes half chicken, 1 sausage and 3 ribs and one portion of rice. Sausage is average, ribs are a bit better but boy oh boy, the chickens here are to die for. This place is absolutely amazing. The staff are so lovely and the food is hands down, something I will come to crave when I'm back home and be sad that it's so far away. My personal favourite is the chicken, the sausages and the couscous (even more droolworthy when you pour the chicken sauce over it). Also, this place is really designed more for take-away so there is very limited seating. There are only 2 small tables up against the wall, and at best can maybe squeeze 5 people in for a sit down meal (though realistically, 4 is more comfy). The chicken is top notch. We went right at 1800 so our chicken was as fresh as it gets. As we waited they brought us some homemade chips to snack on. We had a full chicken, 1 blood sausage tomato salad, chips, and a coke for €15.40. Can't beat that price. Service was wonderful. The chicken, marinade and peri peri was sooo delicious. Sonja (the owner) was personable, funny, and lovely and the food was perfect. Best Portuguese chicken I’ve tasted in Portugal - tender, flavoursome and the perfect amount of spice. If you are in Lisbon, do yourself a service and walk/drive/taxi here, order a mix plate of meats (1/2 chicken, 6 ribs, 3 sausages) with rice, tomato salad, and chips. Lastly, make sure you use all that chicken oil fused with garlic on your rice. The chicken is juicy and tender, the ribs have a nice bite yet moist, the sausage has an amazing snap with tons of flavor. Absolutely excellent. A feast for an unreasonably inexpensive price. Ribs and chicken were superb - seasoning was perfect. The tomato salad was unbelievable, the homade crisps, the salad, and my God the rice. Everything was fantastic.
