Our favorite meal in Lisbon so far. We had the clam appetizer (delicious sauce with bread), octopus entree (very tender), seafood paella, tiramisu (not too sweet), port wine, and complimentary ginjinha at the end. Our waiter Youzin was very nice, and the owner was very attentive and even topped our glass with wine. I can’t recommend this place unfortunately, and I honestly don’t understand why its Rating is so high. For instance, we got a chipped plate (see photo). This is no go! Food: everything that we tried was mediocre. Grilled salmon was very greasy, and paella was very far from the real paella. I understand that we are not in Spain, but come on, you could at least use fresher ingredients. Interior is a bit outdated, the only good thing was service. Our waiter was honest and very polite. This place has little to do with real Portuguese food, nobody working there is Portuguese, most of them seem Corean, Nepalese and Indian. The dishes are Portuguese but except for the polvo the quality was not good. Industrial bread is put into the microwave to make it appear freshly baked. Staff is friendly but the atmosphere is not great. The hygiene in the toilet was totally disgusting. While you can never prove it, I'm quite sure they're buying fake Google reviews too get such an unreasonably high score, just look at how everyone says they were served by Prabhat or Sapana. Personally I have no idea what our waiter was called, it's none of my business and no way that 90% of the people would mention this in a review. It's just a template. Most of their reviewers have only written one or two reviews. Take my advice and pick an authentic Portuguese restaurant. As soon as we entered the restaurant, we were warmly received by the owner and waiter SAM. Without us asking any questions, SAM took the initiative to provide us with the wifi password. Years ago, when we visited Lisbon for the first time, we stopped here and loved it! This time we weren't disappointed either! Even though I don't like fish, I found my favorite food here: chicken breast! The meat was beautifully prepared and the potatoes were wonderful. The octopus was also great! We were there yesterday and it was the worst meal of our trip. We ordered the food and had to wait a long time (around 35 min). We were warned of this before so this really wasn't the problem. We ordered Paella and it was not fresh at all. Chicken was dry, fish was okay. Rice was not seasoned properly, just a few chunks of seasoning were in there, not evenly distributed. On the other hand the service was really nice and attentive and asked of allergies beforehand. Only problem is that today I'm very sick, eventhough I have no food allergies, and I'm very sure it's the paella. I was profoundly unimpressed by the food, which was shockingly mediocre and definitely did not match the high prices. The waiting times were long, despite a relatively empty restaurant and the food portions were unacceptably inadequate. Ate here for the 3rd time. The first night Sam was our server and last night it was Youzin. Both guys provided great service. The food was really good. I had the rice seafood the first night and the octopus last night. My partner had the Bahcalau the first night and Sea Bass last night. Highly recommended. The only upside is that the restaurant is large, so if you are absolutely desperate and everywhere else is full then maybe you can consider this. Great seafood restaurant in the heart of the old town! The staff were very attentive and kind, there was a good selection of drinks and food on the menu and overall the restaurant felt very homely. I really enjoyed hearing about the way each dish was made and our waiter was very friendly. He engaged in some small talk with us, which added to the homely vibe. The octopus I got was very well made and my friend loved her chicken. We ordered some ginja after dinner and also got some port wine for free as our waiter explained the ginja is homemade and is complementary at the moment. I had the pleasure of eating here on my last night after traveling solo for a few days through Portugal. Prabhat took my order and was an absolute pleasure and breath of fresh air. The food was delicious here, and the service warm and helpful. Great location. There did not appear to be an outdoor dining option (in March anyways). Nice decor. We had a bottle of red, the Cartuxa EA which was good. Ordered the bread basket and olives (both good) and shared the Paella Negra (very good, it was not large but adequate, with two small mussels, two tiny clams, 2 or 3 medium shrimp/prawns, and only two thin slices of squid — a bit light to us but the ink sauce / flavoring was super tasty), and the Bacalhau à Brás - Codfish "Brás Style" which to me was worth flying here from Seattle, just so yummy and simple. The portions were just right for two people to feel pretty full. We ate at 14:00 which was a slow time of day for this place. Our patient server spoke very good English which was helpful to us on our first ever day in Portugal. At the end of the meal we were each warmly served a complimentary shot of homemade cherry liqueur which was so good. Gosh we wish this place was near us back home. Probably we will come back here to try some more items. Total bill was about $60 US. So glad we found this place. This was a great place to eat. Superb food and fantastic hosts. The owner looks like he is preserved perfectly from the 1970’s with gold chain and polo neck adds even more atmosphere to the place. Not really sure what the hype is? Food is good but not mind blowing. We were directed here after trying to sit at its more busy sibling restaurant. I liked the black seafood paella, but there was not the crispy rice on the bottom as I expect with typical paellas. The normal seafood paella was a little bland and had really salty parts throughout. Avoid this restaurant, food is not fresh. We went to this restaurant because the Nepal manager from the other popular restaurant was really friendly to us and he led us to this restaurant. After reading such great reviews I had high expectations, unfortunately was really disappointed. The bread basket which were ordinary dinner rolls were stale , I took one bite and did not finish . This restaurant is an experience in itself. I honestly believe it is not just a meal. Prabhat was so awesome and helpful!! He recommended some really delicious dishes and we even got a shot of cherry wine on the house at the end. We ordered the seafood paella, the black paella, the octopus. The seafood paella had a lot of mussels, shrimp, and clams on top and was served on a pan. The black paella was the same as seafood paella but with squid ink. The black paella tastes pretty similar so I would just order the seafood paella in the future. The octopus was so tender and fresh—our waiter told us that it just came in earlier in the afternoon so it was so delicious. There were three tentacles on a bed of potatoes, carrots and these things I thought were couscous. My favorite was definitely the octopus. Wasn’t sure if I wanted to order but so glad I did. This was one of our favorite restaurants that we went to in Lisboa. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by the owner who was very sweet and welcoming. The staff made a special slate sign with our name on it since we made a reservation. Our waiter, Prabhat gave us exceptional service. we (group of 11) originally went to taverna alfacinha but because it was a very small place, the staff offered our group to this place, around 260 meters away, same owner, same food, same prices. Food was very good. we tried different paellas, gambas, bacalao codfish, seabass, steak. The steak wasnt very tender, someone in our group found his chicken paella on the salty side, although he did say the middle bottom part tasted saltier than the sides. I did try his paella to compare to my mix paella and found both quite good. Highly recommend this place to try authentic Portuguese food. When a place doesn’t have pictures of the food with a simple menu you know you’re in for a treat. The place was clean and accommodating despite being full on our arrival. We were guided here after their much smaller sister restaurant was full. The menu is exactly the same and is short but covers all the Portuguese classics. Found this place on Google as we were visiting as a tourists. The reviews are not much given to the fact that the food is so authentic and the service is so good. The staff are very accommodating and friendly and go through with the menu with you if you have any questions. The wait for the order is reasonable and you don't have to wait for long. The restaurant has just enough seating making it not too cramped and overwhelming. The food prices are fair and serve one person for a main course dish. The food tastes great. There is no parking available outside the restaurant and card payments are acceptable. The menu just has enough of a choice to choose from. The location is very ideal and a few minutes away from the train station. The restaurant even offers a shot of the traditional ginja drink on the house before giving you the bill. The staff was super sweet and attentative! The place was cozy with cool air breathing in. We ordered the mussels and I thought it had good flavor. There wasn't a lot of mussels compared to some of the other places. The dishes that we ordered (seafood mix and the grilled sea bass) were delicious. The best restaurant ever. I was only in Portugal for 1day and it was the last dinner of my long trip. Honestly, I didn't have high expectations for Portugal because I didn't know much about it. Our group of five had a mind-blowing dinner at a Portuguese restaurant. We started with Amenjoes, Mexilhão, Sooa Dia, and Gambás a Guilho, which were pure flavor bombs. As main course we had Grilled Octopus, Bacalhau Lagareiro, Palha Mista, Palha Nigra, and Arroz Polvo com Gambás. All of dishes were really delicious. The portions were huge, and the presentation was top-notch. The staff was super friendly, giving us great recommendations and making our night unforgettable.
