  We had a lunch with friends at Nortada Restaurant. We had Linguado (Sole for 4 people) served with Potatoes, rice, green beans and carrots. The service was amazing. The waiter was very polite, professional and friendly. Communication was very good in English and in Portuguese. Would definitely recommend this restaurant to friends and family.   First we just jumped in spontaneously on a Saturday night and, of course, fully booked, but we directly booked a table for today and what can I say, they gave us the best table with such a nice view.   Such a great dinner!! Managed to get a booking upon arrival, we arrived earlier than the dinner start time at 6.30pm and waited in very comfy seat at the entrance, we thought we wouldn’t get a good seat or have to wait ages - but we got a very nice seat, sat up a level from the main seating area, with no other tables around us. We were seated by 6.45pm. (Originally we were told we’d wait until 7.00pm) We watched a beautiful sunset and the food was delicious! We sat down and they gave us bread, olives and cheese (which is added to the bill if you eat it) and the wait time for our food was really short. Portion sizes are huge! You definitely get your moneys worth. We were visiting from London, and the same food in London would be double the price and smaller portions. We had the tuna tartar, prawn with garlic, tuna steak and filet in pastry. All 10/10. Recommend sharing food/dishes as the portions are that big! We also had a very nice bottle of Sauvignon blanc made in Sintra, really different taste from others I’ve had! Really yummy and almost salty. We also had a really yummy dessert, recommended by the staff. It was a chocolate cookie dish with pastry and cream. Very rich and delicious. The staff were all very friendly and spoke English. Também tivemos uma garrafa muito boa de Sauvignon blanc feita em Sintra, um sabor muito diferente de outros que já provei! Muito gostoso e quase salgado.   This was a beautiful restaurant on the west coast of Portugal near Sintra. The dining room was bright and airy with open windows and an outdoor area if preferred. Many local customers. The owner was very professional and the restaurant was very clean. The menu was amazing and we had a wonderful dinner with wine and the sunset. Highly recommend the octopus and the sea bass.   Had an evening dinner with our family of five (2 adults, 3 teenagers). Food and atmosphere was great. The location is a bit of a drive for us (35 minutes), but it was worth it and we will definitely come back. Overall a fantastic evening. Food The stuffed crab appetizer was a huge hit with the entire table and was a good size for sharing across 5. The Sea Bass a Colares was excellent and the accompanying sides were delicious. The Octopus Lagareiro was prepared perfectly. The Wellington was a big hit as well, cooked perfectly. The desserts were also delicious. The only item which was "good" but not amazing was the Prawns Moqueca. Prawns were big and juicy, but flavors were just ok and didn't knock our socks off. Atmosphere and Service The location is excellent for a sunset dinner. Parking was easy, gravel lot right next to the restaurant.   I don’t write many reviews but I had to for Nortada which was the best meal we ate in Portugal. The more i think about it - Nortada in just one meal became one of my favorite restaurants in the world. We even ate at a Michelin star restaurant in Porto and Nortada was by far superior. To start the location is incredible - on a cliff bu the Atlantic Ocean with perfect views of the sunset for dinner. The seafood is as fresh as it comes and they will even show you the same day catch fish. The staff is friendly and will help with suggestions (many speak English). Now the food- the BEST sea bass I have ever eaten (I got it in the puff pastry) and my wife loved her lobster risotto (huge chunks of lobster). For dessert we had the chocolate mousse in a puff pastry and it was incredible. We even made friends with the couple sitting next to us who were from the area and work in Lisbon and gave us great recommendations. We took an Uber (15 minutes and not expensive) from Sintra where we were staying the night and had no problem getting an Uber back to the hotel. I would recommend this place if you are staying in Sintra after a long day of site seeing. You will not regret it! Para começar a localização é incrível - numa falésia sobre o Oceano Atlântico com vistas perfeitas do pôr do sol para o jantar. Os frutos do mar são tão frescos quanto parecem e eles vão até mostrar o peixe pescado no mesmo dia. A equipe é simpática e ajudará com sugestões (muitos falam inglês). Agora a comida - o MELHOR robalo que já comi (peguei na massa folhada) e minha esposa adorou seu risoto de lagosta (pedaços enormes de lagosta). De sobremesa pedimos mousse de chocolate em massa folhada e foi incrível. Até fizemos amizade com o casal sentado ao nosso lado que era da zona e trabalha em Lisboa e nos deu ótimas recomendações. Pegamos um Uber (15 minutos e não é caro) de Sintra onde passaríamos a noite e não tivemos problemas em pegar um Uber de volta ao hotel. Eu recomendaria este lugar se você estiver hospedado em Sintra após um longo dia de visitas ao local. Você não vai se arrepender!

  Just fantastic. Food and views excellent. We ordered the "Sweaty Sea Bass in Silver" which was meant to be "Steamed Sea Bass in Foil" however their English is better than my Portuguese so no complaints! Bit of a language barrier with mature waiter and he wasn't quite as slick for a man of his obvious experience (taking orders when members of party missing and mistakenly not taking wine orders for others) but I would highly recommend for others to visit here. We waited a long time for the fresh Octopus but apparently it was due to it turning the gas off! I didn't notice what somebody else mentioned about being charged for the bread and cheese starters as the bill was in portuguese and was very reasonable so didn't over analyse it. Não percebi o que outra pessoa mencionou sobre ser cobrado pelas entradas de pão e queijo, pois a conta estava em português e era muito razoável, por isso não a analisei demais. A sensação de estar em Lisboa, no entanto, é que eles vão tentar cobrar aos turistas o que puderem.

  We love this restaurant so much. It is a little bit more expensive than local alternatives but for the service and the food it should be 3 times as pricey. The staff are incredibly welcoming and they really know the menu and the wine and always make a big effort to speak English with us which is appreciated. We have eaten here for lunch and dinner and have brought friends and family who have loved it just as much as we have. Looking forward to going back soon.   So....first off we were so excited for this dining experience. View was amazing but so is the view from my hotel soooo. Wine was slow to the table. Ordered a dish and they put in the wrong order and tried to get me to take the other dish. I said no and it took almost an hour for my dish to come out. My friends had long finished their meals. Ordered another bottle of wine that never came out. In the end mediocre at best. And did not compensate for any of the errors. Embarassing for an alleged Michelen restaurant.   Lovely seting, very nice food and good service, except the waiter made a mistake with my order, brought a much more expensive dish then I ordered (14 euros more) and charged the more expensive after apologising for the mistake and saying it was his error. Yes, I could have sent the risotto back and wait another 20 minutes but my boyfriend already had his food. They had an opportunity to show good customer service, instead they just took the money.   Intrigued by so many good opinions we decided to give it a try. The local is beautifully located and me managed to observe a sunset. The food on the other hand…was decent. Was happy with the mussels and the dessert was top notch. The shrimp as well as the soup was okay but you expect much more from a Michelin recommended restaurant. The biggest issue was the staff. We could feel that we were treated differently because we are from aboard, which is a very odd behavior (the nearby city is full of tourists). The waitress at the very beginning served us cheese with olives and bread. Despite telling her we didn’t order it she insisted to take it. We thought it is a appetizer from the restaurant. Wrong. They charged us 8 euros for something we didn’t event eat. I am not mad about paying such amount of money but on the fact that we were never informed about it and I do not approve treating me as an naive tourist. Very disappointed.   I ordered Carpaccio shrimps as starter but it is actually a ceviche dish (only the carpaccio is sliced), shrimps are “cooked” in lemon sour so the texture is harder. I personally like ceviche with fish more. And shrimps raw served (as the carpaccio or tartare, ate that in Italy and that was amazing). So I misinterpreted their version of carpaccio shrimps (should mentioned it that it’s in lemon juice). Main course is the Moqueca Gamba which is great (i asked well seasoned because carpaccio has no taste so i was kind of warned). I liked the texture of the rice too (like perfumed rice a bit solid). Shot lemon sorbet as dessert because i could not take anymore a dessert (which sounds great), very tasty perfect balance sweet sour and refreshing!   We ate here 4 days in a row (it is that good!) and it was great every time. The moqueca camarones (excuse my guess) was one of the most delicious things I have ever had. Other awesome highlights were pulpo "a nortada" and the lobster risotto. We tried almost every starter-- my favorites were the tuna carpaccio (spicy! ) and the pimentos. I did not try most desserts but the bolo da bolacha was amazing and I just kept ordering it. We ate twice on the terrace and twice indoors. Both experiences offered wonderful sea views.   We are unfortunately a little disappointed with our visit today. We have ordered the fish platter for 2 persons. The fish was ok, but still everything was a bit unloving. The only side dish was 6 small potatoes, no salad or anything else. We were not told which fish it was when we served it. Furthermore we were not asked during the meal if everything is ok. For a restaurant with high prices I expect this. The menu consisted of crumpled transparent foil. On the picture two shrimps are missing, they were served additionally. All in all, one can definitely expect more for the price, either in the service as also in the presentation of the food. Bread, olives, butter and cheese are served immediately after sitting down, with the question if you want them. These are calculated afterwards - this is a little unusual.   I have been to Nortada twice and each time was really pleased with the quality and freshness of the fish we had. The side vegetables were also cooked well (sautéed and still crunchy) which is worth highlighting as it is not the case of all restaurants with many just boiling them in water. The service is friendly and efficient. And of course the views on the ocean are superb!   Great fish restaurant. Lovely and warm hosting by the staff. Expertly grilled fish. Our Portuguese friend was impressed by some of the traditional dishes. Good selection of wine. Great sunset spot too! Also accommodated our vegetarian friends with a vegetable pasta which our Italian friend didn't complain about! One of the highlights of our trip.   Visited twice in a week. Excellent fresh seafood and service. The local wine from Colares is really tasty and an added bonus that it's made up the road. If you like fish then just turn up, tell them all about your love of fish and they'll do the rest. We had two sea bream, a mega sea bass and a couple plates of octopus for a table of 10 and it was delicious. The octopus was especially a show stopper.   Excellent service, very attentive for our table of 10. Great view of the ocean. The food was excellent too, fresh fish served whole table side and prepared very well. The dessert, the chocolate mousse was very rich but satisfying and the apple pie was was a pleasent & surprising twist on a classic.
