I go for my lunch break almost every day but is also nice atmosphere for dinner and have a good wine selection.   Uma delícia de lugar, uma verdadeira descoberta. Estamos há 3 dias em Lisboa no hotel que fica mesmo em frente e hoje fomos almoçar. Uma surpresa muito agradável. Excelente atendimento, discreto e muito prestativo, por exemplo, nos ouviram falar em espanhol e imediatamente nos trouxeram a carta traduzida para o nosso idioma. O local é muito agradável e o ambiente é muito tranquilo. A comida foi nota 10, peixe e marisco muito frescos, pedimos o bacalhau à María (especial da casa) servido com espinafres e batatas assadas e o lombo de atum (preparado à moda tataki) servido numa cama de batata doce assada e com feijão verde baby. Ambos maravilhosos. Para a sobremesa pedimos um creme caseiro estilo creme brulee e também estava muito delicioso. Um 10.

  I had a delayed flight, and therefore had to stay in Lisbon unexpectedly. After a stressful day flying, this place was just the place I needed to visit. The service is very personal and the staff can point you in the right direction with getting you the right wine for your meal. The panacotta with basil sauce was honestly one of the best deserts I’ve ever had, so a must-try if you’re going here.   TERRIBLE The greatest disappointment in restaurants after living here for five years. I chose this restaurant based on reviews and photos and was it a mistake. Don’t usually make this kind of mistake, so I’m surprised. The octopus salad was nothing special at all. The risotto with clams, razor blade clams and scallops was actually bad, with old clams and the risotto itself was waaaaay too sour and strong in the taste of turmeric. Finally, the cod fish main dish was totally dry and inedible. The potatoes served with the codfish was old, as if they were made yesterday and the spinach tasteless and dry. To make things worse, the charged us for olives and butters we didn’t consume. The only thing that was good and acceptable was the white wine. In reply to the response of the restaurant below: I packed the codfish in a container to not waste it and forced ourselves to finish up the risotto because it’s more sinful to waste. Also, I did not say to the waiter that the food was good. In fact, a waitress asked us twice if we liked the food and we said no, telling her exactly what I wrote in the review. Pegamos os dois filés, atum assado e salmão grelhado e gostamos dos dois. com peixe de alta qualidade e cozimento perfeito. O molho teriyaki deu um toque saboroso. As sobremesas, tanto o bolo de chocolate quanto o cr me brulé caramelizado na hora, foram bem feitas. Escolha decente de vinhos, nos quais confiei, sem os conhecer. O serviço foi ótimo. You can tell the staff is trying to make up for the recent bad reviews - asked me multiple times if everything is good. Would have been 5 stars if I wasn’t asked to leave a tip and review at the end.   This restaurant is a gem and worth searching out but make reservations as space is limited and it fills up quickly. We had a tremendous meal and thanks to our server's recommendations we experienced dishes we might have passed on if we only read the menu. We shared dishes and would definitely recommend the Rotten Eggs, the Fresh Tuna and Scallop Carpaccio plus the Algarve Roasted Octopus was amazing (my fourth octopus dish in as many meals, it really stood out and was special). The Stupid chocolate cake was indeed stupidly delicious and lastly don't overlook the White Chocolate Pannacota with basil sauce, sounds unusual but it definitely works (the chef's children came up with the recipe)! The food paired well with suggested Portuguese wines and everything came together for a wonderful evening with friends. A special acknowledgement to our server / guide for the evening who knew EVERYTHING about the menu and made our visit very special, muito obrigado Patricia, you're the best!   We have been her twice in the last week, and having shared 5 main courses I would say I could easily come each day for 2-3 weeks and eat my way though the menu. Service is very friendly but not the “drag people in from the street” type. The food is delicious and the plates are arranged nicely. Our son had panko fish filets with Xarém (corn flour purée) and mussels. They were happy to serve us a portion of rice cooked with rosemary, since he was not that keen on the purée and mussels. The seared tuna, the 2 types of risotto (octopus/prawn or scallops/mussels) etc. were all super tasty. The second time around they mixed up the order for the risotto. However, we were asked multiple times whether we wanted to change and get our original order, this way thought we got to try dishes we didn’t have before. In the end this was a fortunate incident! 😋 Needless to say that we were not disappointed. After a port wine on the house for the inconvenience it was another very recommendable experience. Reserving a table in advance is recommendable! Staff was very professional and carefully explained what's was on the menu and their days speciality.   Booked a table got 2 to celebrate my birthday. Arrived at 7pm, doors were closed and there were a few of us waiting outside. 5 minutes later we were all inside and seated, however, needed to ask a waiter to clean my placemats as they were dirty. So far, not so good. All the waiting staff were hanging around not doing much and after signalling one over I asked to order the octopus dish. It was my first time in Lisbon and as it was a big birthday was really looking forward to it. The waiter said the dish would take an hour to prepare, I said that was fine. He then went away, came back and said actually they did not have the octopus. Myself and my companion got up and left! What utter shambles! They should have mentioned what was off the menu as soon as they handed them over but I suspect instead they said it would take an hour to get us to order something else. This left me running around the area trying to find a decent restaurant at a later hour, nearly ruining my celebration. Luckily I came across Laurentina a few roads away. The food and service was top notch and I absolutely enjoyed it. I had the best meal ever and will hurry back in an instant. Avoid Maria's!   For appetizers, I ordered the oysters and the guillo style shrimp, and both dishes were excellent, the oysters were nicht and creamy, the shrimp was perfectly cooked with a very savoury garlicky sauce. For main dish, my partner ordered the seafood stew with rice and it was absolutely incredible! All of the seafood was super tasty, especially the lobster, all the shellfish were nice and sweet as well. I had the bacalhau with potatoes, it was very comforting and delicious. The service was super friendly, my only tiny issue was, we sat down outside and I wish we could have got blankets as it was a little bit cold at night, but other than that everything was just amazing:)!   We discovered the restaurant just walking around the neighbourhood in the early afternoon. The service was excellent and the very professional waiter helped us in the choice of the meals. We took the starter of octopus and olives, then oysters, roasted tuna and salmon ceviche. We drank water and 1liter of white sangria then they suggested us the desserts: a delicious pannacotta with basil and a superlative chocolate cake.   We had a great time at Maria Peixeira. We started with some tuna carpaccio which was delicious, and then I tried the octopus and shrimp risotto. It was scrumptious. We had white wine sangria which went really well with the fish dishes. My friends tasted the shrimp pineapple skewer, and the peixe galo fillet. Also got top rating.   This place is amazing. Tons of great dishes and lovely vibe. As many other reviewers have noted, the staff are incredible! Everyone who helped us was so thoughtful and patient. They allowed us to sit there for nearly the entire evening service and cracked jokes with us. We ordered way too much food and drinks, but it was totally worth it.   I enjoyed the food but the real highlight was the service. Multiple servers were extremely kind, personable and thoughtful. I also really appreciated that they really seemed to care about their customers and even offered sweets and Port wine at the end of the meal on the house. In terms of food, I enjoyed my clam risotto (the razor clams were a highlight! Super juicy and sweet) but I do have to admit there was a lot of risotto that I couldn't finish because it was too filling/heavy.   The food looks good but the taste has been overrated I think. We have ordered the tuna loin, lobster risotto and calms& razor calms risotto. The tuna loin was great, but the two risottos are so so. The lobster was not fresh and the ink rice doesn’t match with the lobster at all. The calms risotto was slightly better, the lemon taste was overpowering that we could not taste the calms.   This place came recommended from a friend. Could not pass on the gem enough. I have never been to a restaurant twice on the same trip before until tonight. The first time there was a mix up with the reservation and they were incredibly accommodating and managed to squeeze us in. The food is out of this world, I have dined at several 1,2, and 3 star Michelin restaurants and this place does not disappoint . The quality of ingredients and presentation has so much care and compasión given to it; even down to the cutlery as well as the beautiful plates. Phillipe and his staff were so lovely. The vibe of the restaurant is upbeat but relaxing at the same time.   Had the fish soup and grilled octopus, if you are light eater for lunch, the fish soup itself is quite filling. Need to be aware that every item on the table has a price tag to it, unless offered as a compliment by the service staff. If you did not declined anything brought over as you sit down, that's ~Euro14 in the bill to start with. Service was great, but they are stretched. Prepare to take your time and not be on the rush. None the less the fish soup is pretty amazing, but not too enamoured by the octopus. Will go back again, just for the fish soup and will declined all the items layed out.   The food was good, but my cousin and I were extremely disappointed with how the restaurant conducted itself. We were served food and drinks we did not order (some bread, butter, olives, salad, and shot of port wine), and in the past this indicated it was on the house if it was brought to you. This was not the case, WE WERE CHARGED €17 FOR FOOD WE DID NOT ORDER. On top of that, we were in the middle of eating and the server came and took our food away.   Starters were amazing, mains were OK, odd that every table was given a cling-film wrapped bowl of octopus salad without asking for it, but every table did as we did and returned it un-touched. We were told that only two of the six desserts were still available, so ordered one of each, only for a table of four next to us (locals) 20 minutes later to request the same desserts we were told were unavailable.   I'm quite suprised by the good reviews here... Are the standards really this low? We had a reservation at 9pm but our table wasn't ready so we had to wait outside for 15 minutes. After that we waited for our food for 45 minutes. The risotto was very average. I can make way better risotto at home (we had 2 different risottos). I’m quite surprised about the low ratings: fish dishes tend to be a bit more expensive, but I don’t think 14€ for a shrimp/octopus risotto is pricey. People need to check themselves! The only thing I would say, and I know this happens in many other Portuguese restaurants, is... Don’t bring starters that we haven’t ordered yet; wait until people have had a seat and looked at the menu (and ordered) before you bring anything to the table. It’s a bit forceful and it feels awkward to send the food back. Otherwise, I absolutely recommend it and will be coming back asap! The best of luck; I hope your business thrives!   Love this restaurant. We just arrived in Lisboa and I was craving seafood. The hotel recommended this restaurant which is walking distance from our hotel. The service was excellent, the staffs were very personable, food were deliciously tasty, the deserts were so good n refreshing. I highly recommend the creme brûlée(it was a family recipe) and the something basil(can’t remember the whole name), and the owner/chef(Filipe Lopes) was so nice and personable. He even recommended us what liquors to buy to bring back to the states and where to buy it inexpensively. Overall, we loved the experience! Ele até nos recomendou quais bebidas comprar para levar para os estados e onde comprá-las baratas. No geral, adoramos a experiência! Definitivamente voltaremos novamente se fizermos outra peregrinação a Nossa Senhora de Fátima.

  In the heart of Lisabona, close to the park of Gulbenkian, there is this cosy restaurant that welcomes you with authentic Portuguese food cooked in a healthy manner. Also, the host and his team make you feel one of the neighbourhood. We suggest the house soup and the sea bass as a main dish. Price and quality ratio is balanced. And everything is very clean.
