  Ate here tonight and unfortunately wasn’t too impressed with the experience. When we arrived for our reservation we had to wait about 15 minutes to be seated. Once seated we were offered cocktails but when we chose not to have them the waiter seemed disappointed. My meal ended up being undercooked not only the meat (was cooked rare instead of medium) but even the risotto was undercooked as well. The majority of the staff was helpful in fixing these issues and seemed very nice otherwise. Unfortunately even the bill was charged incorrectly for a cover (bread etc) however we refused the bread and the bill amount had to be changed. The food was good but nothing special in my honest opinion . My fiances food was similar. I guess I was disappointed the staff didn’t even offer a free dessert or remove my meal from bill after these issues occurred. For a normal restaurant I wouldn’t expect much but for the most expensive bill I’ve had in Portugal (150 euros) since arriving 2 weeks ago I would expect more. This is unfortunate as I was suggested to go here by a friend and was excited for a nice steak dinner. I hope this review helps improve things for the restaurant . Para um restaurante normal não esperaria muito mas pela conta mais cara que tive em Portugal (150 euros) desde que cheguei há 2 semanas esperaria mais.   I went here with my business partner purely based on reviews online. It was classy and a great overall atmosphere. We chose the tasting menu. Based on previous culinary experiences, I would say that food was good but not amazing. I enjoyed the carpaccio the most. Steak quality was not quite where it should be (for the tasting menu). I would recommend the place but it is slightly pricey for the value delivered to us. Waitstaff are very nice and speak English well.   Thats a nice meat place though in my opinion overpriced in comparison of service and food provided. I had wagyu pecanha that was little bit overcooked that is not good for the meat like that and duck that still has not properly grilled fat layer as result little bit chewy skin. Staff is caring and atmosphere is good. Has a solid meat shop with variety of dried meat. Nice place if you leave nearby and can afford it, since it’s not hard to book (I guess for the price reasons).   Toughest steak I’ve ever been served at any restaurant period, not to mention a supposedly well regarded steakhouse. Smoke was pervasive in the kitchen visible from the dining room, so I suspect the chefs were using too much heat on the meat. Tartar was drowned in sauce. Risotto was excellent, oddly enough. Hostess has a bad attitude to top it off. She tried to seat us directly under a subwoofer pumping bass when better seats were available. We notified the restaurant about the experience and the only accommodation offered was waiving the charge for bread. She was then surprised we were not pleased with that response. Avoid.   The atmosphere was nice and pretty. The staff was polite and helpful, however, many times my table had to take care of itself in terms of water and empty glasses. The food was delicious, especially the carpaccio and beef tartar. However, they had a bit more sauces than needed. I would have liked for the meat to be more plain and add salt as desired, rather than have too much sauce and salt that I cannot remove.   I ordered my dinner here once and one item was missing, tried to contact the restaurant they did not pick up the phone, next day I was able to reach them out but they told me they could not do anything. Very expensive meal to miss customers orders, don't recommend ordering food here. Edit: Dec 5th After the restaurant reply I enter in contact - again - to ask if I could order food through the app I usually use, they confirmed the information twice, they informed me that the restaurant name would be different but the food would still be made by them and delivered by a courier from a delivery service, this struck me as a way to avoid bad reviews if something went wrong with the delivery, since the restaurant's name is different from the actual food provider. I also sent an email to the restaurant about this issue, I didn't get a reply. The restaurant keeps trying to dodge the problem by denying it saying there was an 'error' on my behave. Because of this I will lower all scores. I've been to two restaurants run by Chef Kiko, and both times I had problems. I wouldn't recommend going there at all.   I was really looking forward to my meal at O Talho because my stay in Lisbon was so short and I could really only spend one leisurely dinner. I left the restaurant feeling like I could've spent my time and money somewhere else. I trust in the effort they put into their dishes and the restaurant, hence the inclusion in the Michelin guide which is how I found them. I'm not sure if it was just a bad day for us to go to the restaurant but I did not enjoy the dinner when I went. Our starters were amazing: the table service tartare, the carpaccio and the croquettas. The wine we ordered was also delicious and they very kindly opened the bottle and served it to us. However, we came at the right time of our reservation and we were told to wait; our host very insistently told us to enjoy a pisco sour while we wait without having us take a look at the menu? The service was just very strange, as if we weren't allow to pick the food we would like, and simply go by their recommendation without asking for our opinion. We felt rushed and pushed to make an order. In my opinion, this is the opposite of hospitality. The main dish and dessert was good, however forgettable. I would like to believe in people's good experiences in O Talho, which is why I went and made a reservation, I am just a bit sad I did not have the same experience when I went.   Very chic steakhouse. They are also open as a butcher shop during the daytime and sell their dry aged steaks and much more. Our server was great and made sure to check on our table while we were there. The vibe is a little more of a mix of modern and fancy. The ambiance was more dark and it gave me feelings of a club without the music or flashing lights. We ordered the Beef Wellington and it was amazing. We also ordered two different dry aged steaks and they were perfectly cooked. My favorite dish was the beef carpaccio, just melt in your mouth slices with good toppings.   First, when we came to our table, the waiter bring basket with bread and butter. Than they charge for that 8€!!! I was in shock coz we didn’t order it, the waiter brought it like a compliment what is typical for such level of restaurants! I couldn’t expect that it can happen there like in cheap touristic place and i should ask for everything that i didn’t order, if it’s free or not.Than we order steak - chateaubriand. When the waiter was taking order she didn’t ask what roasting should be done. So i needed to ask waiter again and said that it should be cooked medium well! I know that chateaubriand is such part of meat that should be cut for few peaces to be cooked medium well. I said that to our waiter that it’s fine if the chef will cut steak to make needed roasting and said two times that it should be medium well! And the result was that they brought steak, half of it was medium well, and half medium rare. So we couldn’t enjoy full steak, which cost 100€. So this place pretend to be high level restaurant but from high level they have only interior and prices.   I really wanted to give this a 5 stars. But i think it would be something between 2.5 and 3. It is featured in Michelin, super nice ambiance, and it feels special... but now lets start with the problems that cost them a better rating. I order a old vines wine which cleared needed some tine for aeration, after stating that i was not offered a decanter, and then i asked the food to be served at least 1 hour later, because i wanted to appreciate the food WITH the wine. The food literally came 5 minutes after i ordered, which made no sense as i stated that clearly, in portuguese, to 2 different people. The starter, which is supposed to be their best starter, had no foies gras whatsoever, and it was super salty. I wished the size was half as big and the quality better because there is potential here... also extremely salty. As the starter came so fast, i reminded them to avoid not bringing the main dish so fast, once again because of the wine. The food came 30 seconds after... it is really like not putting any effort into hearing your customer. The desert was okay, but also lacked doce de leite... Not worth the 110 euros per person.   A successful money making venture. We were disappointed. We didn't think the food justified the prices. We have had better steak elsewhere for less money.   Review is not pertaining to food. Two tourists visited today reservations were at 730 pm. I could tell from the beginning they were trying to bump the bill up. The brought the bread, a common practice in europe, we said no; this willl be important later. Subsequently asked us if we wanted a bottle of gin. We said no. They pushed again. We said no. Given our trepidiation we checked the bill, that had not 1 but 2 of the bread items added.. i was not surprised. We kindly asked to remove it and they did.   Surprisingly disappointing after all the good reviews: maybe the expectations were too high. The service was pushy at the beginning but the port tonic was indeed delicious, then the stew croquettes were good, lamb and pork cheek as mains were a bit too salty, heavy and frankly not outstanding, as was the side ratatouille, uninspiring. We skipped the desert, feeling a bit depressed by the experience and by the fruit flies. Then the bill: out of 135€ for two (2 cocktails, one shared appetizer, two mains, one side dish, water, coffee and tea), 3.95€ for a sachet of Lipton green tea is ridiculous for a restaurant aiming at gastronomy standards.   Service and atmosphere was excellent. My steak on the other hand was subpar. Too much gristle on the side that I had to cut off and the medium rare wasn’t soft, meat was very chewy and tough.   The setting in the restaurant is intimate and cool. Friendly staff/service, delicious cocktails - we also liked that they offered us just two really well made options, we tried both - and great wine. The butters and truffle ricotta whip to start was so nice, as were the starter dishes - particularly the ceviche. We came here for the meaty mains and they did not disappoint. Overall a tasty dining experience! Unfortunately the lost star on my review is solely down to the gentleman on duty that night who I assume is the Maitre D', who openly greeted and checked in on every single table except ours, I noticed this specifically because I was thinking surely it's time to do the same to us. It never came, neither did a goodbye even though we walked past him on our way out. He'd clearly made his own decision on who we/our table were and for some reason we were not deserving of the same service as everyone else. Very disappointing.   Last night had dinner based on concierge booking. Great atmosphere and food was not what I would call Michelin quality it was a 8 overall. Waiter was pleasant and engaging, but service was a 5 at best. What full bar restaurant doesn’t have vodka… I found one last night. The waiter was informed about a food allergy- gluten free and didn’t make recommendations and brought main course with gluten on the plate (possibly) didn’t bother asking….. they presented a beginning appetizer and didn’t explain it and it had gluten. The sommelier asked what we are having for dinner after we already had wine 🍷 … weird he should know what we ordered. The staff didn’t and couldn’t explain the ingredients to the meal as it was presented. I would go again, but if it’s not to my liking I would definitely talk to the manager.   Second visit we wanted meat so we gave a year later a second chance. The salad had fried buckwheat that was hard as rock what a pity. The meat was good but again one dish was very bad for the price they should know how to make all dishes perfect. Went for lunch, the meal had highs and lows, the low was also the end so in general a disappointing experience not to repeat. First the covert was salty the cheese was not eatable and the bread selection very disappointing. The main pork cheeks was very nice a good dish no problems. What was a very low of the meal was the dulce de leche milfoil, the cream was to runny airy out of consistency when you cut you got a splash on the plate and the cream has no strength to hold the leafs it was tasteless and the foils where also out of consistency as there was humidity in the storage. There was a decoration of dulce de leche on the plate and finally you could taste the intention but what a wast of a desert. What was more disappointing was when I pointed this out to two of the persons in the restaurant one said “yes our deserts are not good” the other did not care. If the workers in a restaurant do not care about the food and the client way should we visit the restaurant? The two stars was for the main as it was very good. Burger appetisers - dry/no sauce/boring Duck main was very well done, a little more of the contrasting flavours in the sides (the vinegar carrot or the wasabi would help) The steak, they did medium rare well. BUT not a hint of salt on the steak (served on the side). A steak house that doesn't season meat? For shame. Also I expect a strip of fat on that cut ... But to have it 2cm wide is a bit of an insult to the customer. €137 for 2 including a bottle of wine.   We went to O’Thalo for a special occasion, it was my boyfriend his birthday. He chose the place because he adores good food and especially meat. The welcome was warm and food amazing. We had the mini burgers and ceviche. If you are not a big eater you can easily share this one just to get in de mood ;) the tartare a classic dish in the restaurant was very nice but different than the one we are used to. I had the oxtail tagliatelle with truffled mushrooms a signature disk. I loved it. The truffle taste was not overwhelming and the taste of the tender meat and rest of the dish was sublime! The sommelier gave good advise on which wine to pick in relation of the dish and what you prefer. We had a lovely evening. The duck was somehow interesting, but the sweet potato and wasabi sauces did not contribute at all for a balanced tasting experience. Picanha do Uruguai was served with pineapple, green pepper and some sort of “farofa”. Interesting taste, but no other adjectives come to our minds rather than average.   One event ruined an otherwise excellent experience. The ambience, wine and food was great. We had the chateaubriand which was cooked to perfection. Loved the interior decor and dimmed lighting. The gin & tonics that are offered to everyone as welcome drinks don’t appear on any menu and turned out to be €15 each, which seems like a bit of a ripoff and a cheap trick for an otherwise nice restaurant. That wouldn’t knock a star off an excellent review though. What did ruin it was the member of staff putting on a loud show for the entire restaurant about our lacking Portuguese skills and also leaning in way too close to us and removing his mask to talk. I have emailed the restaurant about this and hope nobody else has to go through it. Very unprofessional, rude and unsafe. If our Covid tests come back positive in a few days he is the only person I could have likely caught it from. All the other staff was great; friendly, helpful and professional.   I wanted to go to a nice restaurant on my last night in Lisbon. Everything at O Talho was perfect! They have met my expectations and even beyond :) The ambiance, the service and of course the food was really really good! I had the Tasting menu and if you can eat a lot and enjoy eating meat this is the best place to go! I really liked the steak tartare and the sirloin. Special thanks to Jorge and Vasco, they’ve made my last night in Lisbon extra special and they are a real asset to the restaurant.   It has a relaxed and calm atmosphere, very cosy. The staff is super nice, kind and always available. Speaking about the food itself, it looks amazing, each dish has a lot of detail in it, interesting mixture of ingredients, that looks amazing on the plate. It has everything to be scored 5* but unfortunately it all comes down to the actually taste of the food. Didn’t amazed me, I didn’t feel a “omg it tastes really good” with any of the dishes, and I have tried all the ordered dishes on the table (4) (3 signature dishes) the same happens with the entries and the deserts… the best thing of that dinner was the Porto Wine that one of the staff suggested to have with the deserts. Because for me the most important is taste and the rest comes in second, I won’t be recommending this place or coming back there.   The wagyu rump steak turned out be served in Brazilian style slices. I find it not satisfying because it didn’t have that chewy, melting texture of a decent chunk of wagyu grilled, caramelized by the sides and pinkish rose inside. I would say it was a waste of EUR 78.3 and an otherwise beautiful piece of wagyu. I was not informed well on the way they would prepare this dish, if I had known, I would not have ordered. The other waiter / manager came and just apologized, and said he would pass this feedback to the chef so the chef could further experiment on the recipe. Paying high for a guinea-pig experimental meal would’ve been the last thing that I’d want to do 😏I regret not to try o talho’s tartare because it looks like that is something they know how to make. Most of the waiters were friendly, though waiting for 30 minutes for the main course to come was rather long. Some customers who arrived later than me, were served before me. I found it a bit strange, maybe some issues in organisation or those customers were regulars? Still I can’t justify that treatment for paying EUR 100,- for lunch. Achei um pouco estranho, talvez alguns problemas de organização ou aqueles clientes eram regulares? Ainda assim, não posso justificar esse tratamento por pagar 100 euros pelo almoço. Desculpe, mas não posso recomendar este lugar.

We just got served the wine, starting to enjoy the starters and the main course came straight after. No time to settle down upon arrival. Also, the wine selection experience was a bit awkward... the waiter could have been less casual and a bit more formal, was to much at ease.   This may have been our first visit to a Michelin rated restaurant. It was absolutely wonderful experience in every way. We arrived at our reservation time and were seated almost immediately. As soon as we sat down, we were offered a gin and tonic. We don't normally go for these but, we did and it was light and yummy. The service early on was a bit quite and it would have been nice for a few moments to catch our breath. But, it slowed down nicely over the course of the meal. We then went in for the bread and a bottle of wine. We were offered a free macaroon amuse-bouche with some sort of foie gras. Delicious. The we decided to start with the carpaccio with shrimp. My wife got the smallest steak and I decided on the Korean Chuck. The steak was out of this world good. It was wonderful!!! Everything tasted very wonderful!!! Finished it off with a chocolate brownie and some lemongrass creme brulee. We didn't prefer the creme brulee but, that's how it goes sometimes. I mean really just a perfect meal. The service was prompt and the staff was very warm and welcoming. I'm not sure why this place would not have at least 1 Michelin star. Well done O Talho!!! I would highly recommend this place. Quero dizer, realmente apenas uma refeição perfeita. O serviço foi rápido e a equipe foi muito calorosa e acolhedora. Não sei por que este lugar não teria pelo menos 1 estrela Michelin.   All three stars are for the food - it was excellent. We had tomahawk (probably the most tender meat I ever had in Europe) and tagliatelle (nicely balanced flavours) and then desserts - creme brule and dulche de leche, both were fab. For the food, I would definitely come back. However, we had a reservation at the specific time but we had to wait for our table to be ready for 45 mins (someone was sitting at our table) which I consider mismanagement not expected for such level of restaurant. What I didn't like was that restaurant is charging couvert (3e per person for few pieces of bread).   We made our booking in a hurry, without having done much research, so we didn't know what to expect. Our party of four were all amazed by the quality of the food and the design of the tastes. Unusual that every aspect if the meal was impeccable. We were offered the 'house gin special', which i now know is a standard offering (its €12, but it is good....). Skip it if you wish. The bread, and even the butter choice was amazing, and all very special (red pepper butter... ? Yum). The poppadoms suited our gluten free party member. Starters were fantastic, Carpachio and prawns, which I could have eaten all day. We all had different steaks for main, incl one Tartare, which was just delicious, against the skeptical expectations of some of the party. €242 for 4 people, an experience as much as a meal.   Beautifully decorated restaurant, with dim lights and a meat display as you walk in. The service was great - from the host to the serving staff we had a very pleasant experience. As you sit down, the offer you a gin and tonic (house specialty), to start the experience with the restaurant. The couvert was also delicious - they had a very good selection of breads and the spreads were delicious and well prepared. Now to the food: we ordered the croquettes as an appetizer - really good with a chorizo mayo very rich in flavor. Next plate was the steak tartar, which was good, not spectacular for being the house specialty. The next plate was the duck magret, very disappointing - the meat overcooked and very hard. The dessert was also lackluster - a dulce de leche mil folhas, with a dulce de leche that barely tasted like anything. It had more a taste of flat, creamy sugar, than dulce de leche. The ice cream accompanying the dulce de leche was very tasty. Overall, this restaurant is charming on the eyes, service is great, but the food was uninspiring.   If you plan a date or want to celebrate a really special occasion, this is definitely the best place to go. The place has a calming atmosphere and the dishes taste like heaven. It's rare to find such a good piece of meat, that is melting on your tongue. Tried the 5 plates trial as didn't know what to order from this tempting menu and it was so worth it. The Staff is trying its best to answer all your questions and have some amazing recommendations. Already looking forward to come again.   Update- changed to 2 stars because of the rude reply from the owner! I was being honest about the food and interior and I think I have a fair review but was shocked to have such a rude reply! Btw I didn’t even indicate my husband had diarrhoea at night and this morning (doctor has said if you have food poisoning it usually happens within 4 hours after the last meal). I would give this place 3.8 starts actually. The starters especially the carpaccio with Algarve shrimps were super good. The beef melts in our mouth. Our mains were also very good. We were not too pleased to find out that G&T were actually charged to our bill as we both heard the lady said it’s on the house. The waiters also keep coming one after another to provide bread, chef’s specials, the menu and then the wine. We barely sat down! If another waiter came along, I would definitely have told them to hold back. Lastly, the lights are really bad that it is not doing justice to their food which people now do nowadays by posting on their social media and thus giving them free publicity. In fact the toilets are even worse with their lightings (dark with red lights). Maybe they wanted to replicate the butcher house and we are actually the pigs??? Se outro garçom aparecesse, eu definitivamente teria dito a eles para se conterem. Por último, as luzes são muito más e não fazem justiça à sua alimentação, o que as pessoas fazem hoje em dia, publicando nas suas redes sociais e, assim, dando-lhes publicidade gratuita.   The dishes might not be big (compared to the Portuguese cuisine) but they are really tasteful and great looking. The place is nice and cozy but the also expect to pay well for that. When we visited, they only had one cocktail that wasn’t on the menu(that was very tasty) so don’t expect to see much of a cocktail choices here.   Overall, great experience at O Talho. Attentive service, great quality of food and a lovely warm environment for dinner. My boyfriend and I came here for dinner and we ordered the steak tartare (the restaurants specialty) and entrecôte. The steak tartare was to die for - great balance of flavor and high quality meat. As for the entrecôte, I expected better as this is a meat restaurant. The entrecôte was a bit rough to chew on and was also relatively hard to cut.   Spectacular! I must say that everything in the restaurant was very good: decoration, service, food and hygiene ( due to the current situation). The atmosphere and decorations were cozy. In regard with the service, the employees were attentive, and very methodical in the cleaning of tables, menus and every element they gave to you. Finally, everything we are and drank was perfectly served and tasteful. We had mini hamburgers, a tartar, wagyu meat, a cheesecake made with goat milk and a cocktail.   It was ok... Bread and extras were nice, but delivered without asking and then that wonderful surprise (not!!) on seeing the extra costs for all the little bites is a pretty poor experience. The sliders were excellent and the little wings with were delightful (the service and these were only reason for 3 stars and almost 4 stars, but you cannot rate a steak restaurant on it starters alone) The steak was the biggest disappointment, which considering the restaurant, is why it is getting only 3 stars. Looking at all the amazing meat in the reception and to be served such a thin steak was so disappointing. To be fair, it was seasoned beautifully although a little overcooked for my liking (was more medium than medium rare) but again, was probably because of the thickness...or should I say "thinness" of it (Traduzido pelo Google) Estava tudo bem...   Overall it was a good experience. I've started the meal with meat croquettes with chorizo paste that was quite reasonable tasting, for the main course I've had an excellent roasted piglet, it was on point and probably the best of the night. The desserts were good and quite original, the descobtructed chocolate cake was a funny ideia. Must say the house wine was quite good and went really well with the meal. The low point of the restaurant was that we kind of felt pressured to consume extras on the meal with suggestions of wanting room cocktails and digestives, I understand they want to offer a good service and experience, but our group felt it was trying to make us spend more and it was kind of inconvenient. I really enjoyed the chocolate cake which was actually broken down to its ingredients: there was a white chocolate genush as the flour, chocolate cubes, passion fruit as the egg yolk, and coconut milk as the milk.   We ordered the Tomahawk steak. The steak was good. A little too fat to my taste. The steak was done just right. The service was also very good the waiter was very kind and informative and very polite. But... The sides that came with the Tomahawk steak were a lettuce salad that had only bitter lettuce very plain. And the fries were waaay too salty. We than had the creme brulee and the "bolo de chocolate" from the deserts menu. The real attraction was the bolo de chocolate. It come like the ingredients of a cake with a passion fruit for an egg and white chocolate powder and white chocolate pudding as the flower. Very special. When I made the reservation the chef happened to be at the desk and he mentioned that they would make it special. We were sat in the middle of the room next to the service station. I asked to move to another table against a wall as I have a difficulty with hearing sitting in the middle. Basically told me that is the only table or another in the middle. Even though there were clearly 2 other tables against the wall. The service the rest of the night was not much better. The staff either do not like to speak in English or are stuck up. No one had a genuine smile or care. The standoff of the staff made me not want to sit and enjoy my night. All I ordered was a main course. Estávamos sentados no meio da sala, ao lado do posto de gasolina. Pedi para ir para outra mesa encostada na parede, pois tenho dificuldade em ouvir sentado no meio. Basicamente me disse que é a única mesa ou outra no meio. Embora houvesse claramente duas outras mesas contra a parede. O serviço no resto da noite não foi muito melhor. Os funcionários não gostam de falar inglês ou são arrogantes. Ninguém tinha um sorriso ou cuidado genuíno. O impasse da equipe me fez não querer sentar e aproveitar a noite. Tudo o que pedi foi um prato principal. Esqueça pedir uma boa garrafa de champanhe como aperitivo ou sobremesa.

  Great Restaurant with a particular Portuguese vibe. The food is surprisingly varied and the quality of the products is outstanding. Prices may be a bit steep for locals but normal for the average tourist. The only complaint I have is that the waiters gave more opinions than I asked for, but that's a problem with an easy solution.
