  A good restaurant for meat lovers (but also alternatives). Price /quality for meat is great, I tried the aged beef which was delicious. Downside was the much too fast service. As soon as we sat down, they came with a selection of appetizers to choose from and while we just started eating, they already served the main course. Service was friendly but tuned to speed, leaving little time to enjoy the evening. We can really recommend the food but make sure to ask for some time between appetizer and main course.   Oh my goodness. After a week of excellent food in Lisbon, I didn’t think it could get better. Then I ate at A Carvoaria. It might be hard to believe, but I had both the best steak I have had in my life (their Wagyu steak) and the best risotto I’ve had in my life (their mushroom risotto). Everything we had was full of flavor and absolutely delicious. I skipped the starter plate selection they brought me as it felt a bit unexpected, and I’m glad I did as I wished I had even more room in me to eat more of their steak.   This has become a total tourist trap, if that’s what you want. I have been going here off and on for decades and it has become beautiful and more touristy as the years go by. The meat was never particularly good in my opinion. Always tough no matter what cut you order but I always went because friends wanted to go. I went tonight and ordered the beef loin to make sure it would be good and tender. It wasn’t loin and wasn’t tender. The salad is good and fries are fine as well as the house wine but the meat is not. And it’s a steakhouse! Last time I’ll go no matter who invites me. Too many other good places in Lisbon.   Fair prices for decent steaks, but their personnel does not know anything about steaks. They call themselves masters of steaks but cannot explain how each cut differs from another in terms of taste and tenderness. I asked for the best steak and the waitress just circled around an entire page of different steaks - thanks for the help I guess. We had aged beef for around 20-30 euros and it was tasty although a bit chewy and had a distinct olive oil taste which was strange to me. One of our friends ordered a normal cola and received a coke zero. After pointing that out the waitress claimed that our friend ordered a coke zero instead of just changing the bottles and owning the mistake. Should be common sense that a coke bottle worth 2 euros is not worth discussing over, in the end we paid around 200 euros in total. To sum it up: Not bad for the money but unfortunately with untrained personnel which is typical for this country.   We had both the filet steak 200g medium-well. Both steaks were perfect. As a side we had fries, the veggie skewer and a salad. Skewer and fries were ok. The salad was (intentionally) w/o dressing. However the bowl was rather small and the salad squeezed into it and topped to the edge. So there was no chance to mix any dressing (I.e. oil, vinegar, salt, pepper) into the salad without spreading everything over the table. A second bowl or a bigger bowl would have helped. The point is: they do not care how you manage. And this is how we felt - like a job being “processed”: sit down, eat, pay, go - and better don’t loose time finding your way through the menu when you are there for the first time. Although the food was great, we didn’t feel like having a desert or staying any longer. bottom line: if you just want to have a great steak - go there.   Wow!! Amazing steak place- lots of different raw meats which you can chose from at the counter to have grilled up on the charcoal. Prices are great too. We loved our Wagyu steaks and sides. They didn’t have the normal steak sauces (Portuguese style) but they were flavoursome enough on their own. Fish also available for non-mestres. A good choice of wines too!   This is, thus far, the best meat I've had in Lisbon. Without a doubt, you will have to look hard to find a better quality and selection of meat in Lisbon. If you combine that with the excellent service and the very enjoyable atmosphere, you find yourself in a top spot. I'll definitely go back there and enjoy a great dinner. Thanks!   BEWARE TOURIST TRAP! Went as group of 4 on Thursday night based on reviews and online recommendations. No queue outside yet nobody came so we had to let ourselves in. Zero atmosphere, very sterile, mediocre service, very pushy then forgot drinks. We had random people disturb us at our table to SELL us a "Bailey's dessert TASTER" yet we had not even ordered food yet! Sirloin is cheap because its tough and chewy, terrible quality, meat from Lidl is better! Sides cost extra, but you only need 1 per person! Waiter said nothing allowed us to order 8 sides for 4 people, massive waste of food! Rump steak was OK. Rabbit am told was great! Vegetables were not sauteed, they are boiled then smothered in garlic butter. Steaks were cooked correctly, just terrible quality meat...   Came here based on the star rating, which I now question if they are legitimate. Ordered a steak medium rare and was served blue, which is less than rare and full of blood. Potatoes were undercooked and full of oil. The solution to fix the steak was to refire it which caused it to become dry and burnt. The service was non existent which is disappointing since it was not busy. They will also serve you items you don't ask for. If you take a bite they will overcharge for the entire plate - items that are typically complimentary which you expect it to be the way it's served. Go elsewhere. There are many other beautiful restaurants to choose from in this area. Bill for one came to €51. As fast they came for the order as fast they noticed the order. We were not finished with ordering and the guy was gone haha.   Perhaps my favorite restaurant in Lisbon. Moved to Mexico in 2016 and miss so much their meat cuts, the espetadas, the great selection of wine. Tiago and Teresa are the best. When I used to live in Lisbon, I would go to this place at least once a week for the excellent quality of their food. They're incredibly popular now, but they still kept the quality, since I went back when visiting friends in Lisboa after three years in Mexico back in May.   Food was good and felt grilled flavors. I ordered and took away. When I open the box in my home, food was different as what I ordered!! I ordered mixed skewer(veal and shirimp) and Iberian pork chop but chiken skewer and steaks were in the box. Anyway food was good and fresh!!   Good place to eat meat! The veal was so tender and the shrimp is fresh. The normal sirloin is a bit chewy for me, but it does not cost much, so i guess you get what you pay for. I suggest you get their house meat. Cost more, but probably is better than the normal. The service is top notch. Our waiter was very attentive. They have an english menu!   Five stars might be a bit too much but the memory of the tender meat ("Posta Mirandesa") is an experience which for so pleasurable might bias the classification. The space is just good enough with simple unassuming decor but well organized, the staff matches the decor, nice and effective but the meat is superlative and as most of Portuguese restaurants inexpensive, with a generous dose of high quality grass fed meat being served for only 28€ for 2 persons, plus the sides (I recommend to pick "grelos" and "batatas a murro"). As dessert the egg conventual must try is the "encharcada". (Traduzido pelo Google) Cinco estrelas podem ser um pouco demais, mas a memória da carne tenra (“Posta Mirandesa”) é uma experiência que por tão prazerosa pode distorcer a classificação.   Meat had good flavour but not tender enough. Didn't tell us beforehand that they sont accept credit card so luckly we had enough cash. Expect a good restaurant in Lisbon to take internatiinal credit card too. Overall experience a bit disappointing! Waiters did not know Trinchado! My wife did find on the internet that Trinchado is actually a South African dish with very strong Portuguese influence so dont blame waiters for not knowing it.   We went twice and ordered the amazingly cheap rump. They tend to cook it on the rare side, and the second visit the medium was so rare it was trying to run away.
