  Arrived in town and couldn't check into our place so we went looking for food. Found this place on Google maps (it was almost across the street from where we were staying) and gave it a shot. Elena was our waitress and she was super friendly and looked after all our needs. Wanted to try octopus and this place didn't disappoint, it was delicious! All our party enjoyed our meals. It's hard to find a bad meal in Portugal but this place was delicious. Would definitely recommend!   TOP. Go there. Family dinner. The Manager is Mozambican highly strong person with attitude towards fusion food and experimentation . Elena the waitress did her best for us to feel at home. Atmosphere is is OK but can feel a note of something new in the air and that’s the experimental food. On the edge os old and new, these guys create marvels . Whatever we had tried was great. That’s the only place I’ve been in Lisboa is fresh live vongole clams. The meaning is astonishing . Desert - the lemon pie was a killing nail for us , amazing. Don’t hesitate and go there now. Great selection of wines . We had from Azores and it was a good choice . But the banana ceviche was a blaster. Mosquera was a masterpiece. These guys are not kidding .   Nice place and nice staff. The food is good, lots of options. Can recommend chicken breast with mashed sweet potatoes. It is a nice restaurant not far from the main street, Rua Augusta. There are plenty of restaurants around this place, yet this one was in a quiet street. To enjoy the aroma of Lisbon, we have a place in the outdoor area. It is definitely recommended.   The restaurant was easy to find and the staff was very friendly. We had a very great dinner in the restaurant, the meat we enjoyed was very good and so was the wine. We even tried one of the deserts and enjoyed the one based on natas there as well. Just as a small recommendation for the restaurant: if you have to lecture your staff how to pronounce margariTas, i wouldn't do it infront of customers in the future.   I wasn't expecting much from the location and decor. Maybe someplace for an older tour group. I was very pleasantly surprised. We really enjoyed our meal. The food was delicious and all the staff were very nice. Probably not worth a trip across Lisbon, but this place seems to be the cream of Baxia.   Truly exceptional service. All of the staff should be commended on the quality of service they provide. Nothing was too much for them and they all went out their way to ensure we had an enjoyable evening. The gentlemen who welcomed us immediately made us feel like VIPs.   Amazing experience! Went to the restaurant yesterday and today and we had wonderful time there. Incredible food and excellent service. Salmon tartar, steak, burger, prawn pasta, duck, we tried different deserts, drinks - everything was perfect and tasty!   When we first sat down we were treated very well. It was a very nice atmosphere and the employees got us her food and a timely manner. This was going to be a good review however my partner and I have spent the entire night throwing up out of both ends of our body with food poisoning from the steak tartar or the seafood salad.... We only have two days left here in Portugal and I'm spending it hugging a toilet and not able to leave the apartment.... I'm so sad.   A must go! For 3 reasons: 1) The ambiance. The restaurant itself is absolutely beautiful. It’s evident that the owner put a lot of effort in designing the place. It’s located just off the main Rua Augusta, very clean, and relaxing ambiance. 2) The food! I was given a welcome glass of sparkling wine. I ordered wagyu steak which was prepared perfectly - it was juicy and flavorful!I had the pomegranate martini and it was also delicious! 3) THE SERVICE! The host was very welcoming and friendly. As mentioned, he offered me a welcome drink. Now for the chef’s kiss…the server, FERNANDO! Oh my gosh, he definitely made my experience, not just at the restaurant but at Lisbon overall as a wonderful experience! He set the bar very high with top tier service. He would check in often and was very personable, friendly and funny. I was looking for a rooftop bar to go afterwards and he basically gave me a lay of the land of Lisbon and recommended a really good rooftop bar. He wrote it down for me and he even escorted me down the stairs, walked me outside of the restaurant and pointed the direction to the bar. Again, amazing service!!! I’m really glad I went. Ele colocou a fasquia muito alta com um serviço de primeira linha. Ele fazia check-in com frequência e era muito gentil, amigável e engraçado. Eu estava procurando um bar na cobertura para ir depois e ele basicamente me deu uma visão geral de Lisboa e recomendou um bar na cobertura realmente bom. Ele escreveu para mim e até me acompanhou escada abaixo, me acompanhou para fora do restaurante e apontou a direção do bar. Novamente, serviço incrível!!! Estou muito feliz por ter ido.

  Food was amazing, some very delicious salmon and some very good wine. Service was something I have not experienced here in Lissabon, very unexpected. The prices was cheaper compared to restaurants I normally go to. I would most definitely recommend to come here, and I am looking forward to it once again, when visiting Lissabon again.   My Fiancé and I spent our last night in Lisbon here. Everything was great the host checked up on us midway of our dinner. Fernando our server was amazing he really took care of us as well as everyone else around us he truly made it a great experience! I ordered the Beef loin which was the best piece of beef my whole trip in Portugal I also had a few drinks those were also great. My fiancé had the chicken Cesare salad which she also enjoyed.   My partner and I went here for our final night of a five day Portugal vacation. Through our time on this trip we had many fantastic meals but our final dinner at this restaurant stood out as the best. The meals we had were delicious, plated wonderfully and priced fairly for the quality we received. Our server Fernando Rios was nothing short of a class act who provided memorable service that would make anyone’s dining experience a fond memory for years to come.   The food was delicious! I ordered the octopus which was perfectly cooked, and my boyfriend got the wagyu burger which he loved. We ordered two plates of the grilled squid starters which we scraped clean too. We were sat outside and even though it rained at the end our server, Cesar, was brilliant throughout as he recommended dishes and was lovely to chat to - he made our night, though all staff were friendly.   Best dinner we’ve had since arriving in Portugal 10 days ago - so that should tell you something! The service was fantastic - Catarina was a sweetheart and was extremely helpful in giving us suggestions on what to order. The grilled shrimp appetizer was a great starter to our meal. My fiancée ordered the grilled octopus which was hands down the best octopus we’ve ever had. I ordered the stuffed chicken with ricotta and spinach over puréed sweet potato - and it was to die for! We went back for a second dinner during our one week stay in the city. The outdoor section tends to fill up pretty quickly after 7/8 PM so it's better to give them a quick call to reserve a table.   Had dinner here the other night. We moved to Portugal from Los Angeles and LA’s great eats 5 months ago. At Em Alta, the burrata was the best we’ve had in Portugal. Soft, creamy and very flavorful. Grilled shrimp starter was also very well seasoned and had more going on in it than the typical Portuguese version, which I always love. Bucatini and clams are as delicious but bucatini are the wrong noodles for this dish. Fettuccine or spaghetti would be better choices. My wife had steak. Very good.   It was a very good restaurant. Bravo to the chef - he made ordinary dishes taste and look unforgettably good. The staff was very nice and polite (seemed like some people didn’t have much of an experience but they tried to do their best) thanks to Tita for advising and helping us choose tonight.   Amazing restaurant with very delicious food! We arrived very late from the airport and thought that most places would be closed by the time of 23.30 or would not serve food, but we found this place. The personnel greeted us immediately, they found us a table and served us. The restaurant has a lot traditional Portuguese dishes which are prepared very tasty! We even came back on the other day again and even though there were no tables left outside without a reservation, they managed to seat us inside. There was a live guitar music which contemplated a lot to the romantic atmosphere. You should try the codfish, the tuna steak, the entrecote and the Sangria! Definitely recommend!   When in Lisbon... go to Em Alta Na Baixa. It's one of the best restaurants I've been to. The service is just amazing and so welcoming, having a little chat with locals where you really had the feeling they love what they do. The Manager as well as lovely Zoli were making sure we've got all we need. We went for dinner and drinks and had a wonderful time. They even gave us a shot on the house at the end.   This place is such a gem! Went here for my birthday and had delicious cocktails and seafood. The inside of the restaurant is beautiful! There was live music which just added to the atmosphere. The manager, Caterina was very attentive and we got two complimentary glasses of port and a birthday desert. To make things better, the live music was amazing and the musician took requests.   Given the prices of the food you would expect the service to be exemplary so I will not shower too much praise on this place for its service. They were attentive, friendly, the hostess knew English and happily explained certain elements of our dishes. Our food took a long time to arrive (over an hour) as they delivered everything at once (we were a table of 12 and some people may have ordered more than one item.) I tried the octopus, it was a decent attempt but the excessive use of garlic and oil could not make up for how the spinach was cooked. The spinach was boiled. Slapped onto the plate barely drained. A massive let down given how flavourful the octopus was. Everyone's food was VERY oily, it was as though the chef was afraid to let the quality of the meat/fish shine through which I did not expect for its proximity to the waterfront. I would recommend the nacional anthem (it has ginjinha) it's cherry flavour and ice makes it a nice addition to a warm afternoon meal. Note that the gin and tonic was huge by comparison. Overall a nice experience (service, drinks and atmosphere) but I would not recommend it as I think for the price there are better places in Lisbon (food.) Uma enorme decepção, dado o quão saboroso era o polvo. A comida de todos era MUITO oleosa, era como se o chef tivesse medo de deixar brilhar a qualidade da carne / peixe que eu não esperava pela proximidade com a orla marítima. Recomendo o hino nacional (tem ginjinha), o sabor cereja e o gelo fazem dele um ótimo complemento para uma refeição quente da tarde. Observe que o gin tônico era enorme em comparação. No geral, uma experiência agradável (serviço, bebidas e ambiente), mas não a recomendaria, pois penso que pelo preço há lugares melhores em Lisboa (comida).

  We went there one night because the atmosphere looked nice, and we were completely right. We got 3 meals and 3 desserts and everything was so insanely delicious. We even came back two days later because we wanted to eat there again. And the owner, Alex, even came out and was talking to the tables, and everyone and everything there was just so inviting.   We spent 4 days in Lisbon and tried different restaurants. Alta Baixa was the only one we visited twice. The level of professionalism was off the charts. We were greeted by the managers and they made us feel very special. We ordered octopus and sea bass and the mix of flavors were to die for. We will be back when we return to Lisbon.   Our favorite restaurant in Lisboa! I cannot praise this place enough :) The service is wonderful and each of the staff is very warm and kind! The food is exceptional, you really can’t go wrong with most of the items on the menu.The interior is beautifully decorated and the patio (where we sat) had heaters when it got a bit chillier at night.   Nice, though expensive, restaurant. Definitely seemed tourist oriented. Cheese and sausage board was good. Salmon tartar was not good, but they were good about taking it off the bill and seemed very apologetic. Fried squid was actually sauteed, not fried, and was very good.   Wonderful food, great atmosphere, pleasant service. We sat at a table outside and sipped wine as we watched the world go by and listened to the soft music. Our hostess was very attentive and explained the menu, patient with us though we did not speak Portuguese. We shared an appetizer of tiny clams, and for dinner we shared the dry-aged beef for two, €75 which came with a variety of salts for dipping, with sides of mixed vegetables and whipped sweet potatoes. All so delicious! At one point the manager (owner?) stopped by with a bowl of fresh chips with two dips he said were his own concoction and asked how we were doing, a nice touch. We had a 6:30 reservation on Saturday, which was perfect. By 7:30 the place was crowded, various waiters stopped by to clear our table, and then it took a very long time to get the check and pay.   My friend and I went on a extended weekend trip to Lisbon and the restaurant was right around the corner from our hotel. We tried the restaurant out on our first evening and we continued to go there for the next 3 nights. The food was spectacular (my fave was the pasta with prawns), the drinks tasted fantastic and the staff was off the scale. So nice, helpful, funny. They really made us feel welcome. On our last evening, the owner came to our table and thanked us for visiting so many times in a row and treated us with 2 glasses of Prosecco.   We were received with a lovely sparkling glass of wine as we went through the menu. The service was attentive. From the starters: prawns,fried squids and salmon tartare. The red wines were delicious especially the Reserve. For the main meal, we had the wagyu mamanha, the salmos and the pork leg. All were well prepared and tasty.   We saw this beautiful restaurant the first night in Lisbon and we decided to give it a try. The space is very well designed, and the service is the best we have had in Lisbon. From the moment Suzana greeted us at the door, to the final glass of porto, everything was perfect. The rest of the staff was lovely.   We found the restaurant casually, but it was some of the best choices we’ve done for a restaurant in Lisbon! The food was amazing, very tasty!   Absolutely and easily the best restaurant my partner and I have been to in Portugal. The atmosphere outside is filled with soothing jazz music which compliments the atmosphere. The food is impeccable; we started with the garlic shrimp and a bottle of wine, both incredibly priced and out of this world tasty. Our main courses were the Octopus and the Risotto Nero. Easily the best octopus and risotto we've had in Lisbon. Cannot recommend this more. 5 stars +++++.   I visited this restaurant with a group of friends in June of 2022. I’m really disappointed. After ordering multiple courses, none of which lived up to our expectations, mostly seafood, 5 out of 6 guests started feeling very sick. We alarmed the staff and asked for management to tell them what was happening. To our shock no one seemed to care much; they were rather annoyed we had not told them earlier. No compensation was offered, nor a sincere apology, even after I emailed management when I came back home. Management asked that we go to a doctor and bring documents to prove our “allegations”. It was difficult to explain to them that this was not going to happen as we just had to go through a rough night. Two of us ended up vomiting when we came back to our apartment. Therefore, to summarize: the prices are high, food quality is questionable (to say the least) and management shows a lack of hospitality. I would recommend to take your money and time elsewhere, especially if you take food safety seriously. *all that said, the waitstaff was very helpful and professional; props to them.   The restaurant was recommended by a local. The wait for the food was very long but the waitress was attentive and brought us some snacks. Some dishes was very nice and some were very tasteless (cod dish), I normally have a more mild palate but the dishes were too plain. Interior is beautiful and service is great.   Great service however the food was quite average. We ordered the stuffed mushrooms which had way too much salt in it that we had to leave it. Had the salmon and octopus which lacked seasoning and tasted very average for the price. Paid 50 Euros for a starter, two glasses of wine, salmon and octopus. Not worth it.   Wonderful dinner. We arrived close to 6pm and had the inside to ourselves for most of the dinner on a Saturday night. We had the octopus and pork leg proceeded by the french onion soup.
