  Everytime we go there their website says they are open. People are in the place but we are told at the door that they are closed. This has happened 3 times so dont waste your time driving out to this place.   We were here during their off season so it wasn’t busy but it was open! The drinks were good and food was good but not spectacular as it is on a higher scale of price range compared to many of the local restaurants, but the decor was really well done. There was a few vegan options which was great for our vegan friends. The exterior of the restaurant is spectacular and I could imagine how wonderful it would be to enjoy that view on the terrace in the summer. It is the kind of place you go for the view and the awe of the architecture. Over all a really pleasant experience!   I highly recommend the toasted bread with cheese and mayo- It was so delicious- The beef tips or sirloin on the starters with some Thai rice was amazing. My pork rubs weren’t very good but I’m on an island - I should have ordered fish. My bf ordered octopus and he ate the entire thing. Lovely atmosphere- service a little slow but the staff were extremely friendly. I’d say they should have more sparkling wine chilled b/c the one we selected was not, so we had to wait for it to be chilled.   The food was very delicious, best BBQ pork ribs I have ever had! Accompanied with an impressive view and nice atmosphere. However the only down side was the staff.. they didn’t even say hello or smiled a little bit.. they were just awkwardly staring and standing around until we asked can we have a table. And every time they approached with the food you could see the unfriendly attitude. But the food is very delicious though.   Was looking forward to visiting Cella Bar & having a celebratory cocktail and possibly some food after climbing Pico earlier in the day. The location & setting are very nice, unfortunately the service was atrocious, as in I can’t recall the last time I ever felt compelled to write a review. I watched two other tables get up and leave (for presumably the same reason) while I drank my cocktail. I get it, you’re busy, and 99% of your clientele are likely tourists and therefore not returning, but what I observed and experienced with the two female staff working the cocktail bar downstairs is unacceptable. Not welcoming & condescending, bordering on being actually rude. I thought for a moment I was at one of those themed establishments where the staff purposely treat you terribly as a gimmick. Great place for a sunset drink, and possibly a meal as long as you’re ok with the risk of being treated like a 5 year old who’s been misbehaving.   The pace is overrated. I called twice to make a reservation, but nobody picked up the phone. We went there at 18h45 to try to find a table for dinner, the lady on the front desk told us to wait 40 min. We came back at the time she told us, but she had already forgotten us. And if you’re trying to get hold of sourdough bread (nearly impossible on Pico), they’ll sell you some if you’re lucky. Definitely would recommend!   Rude woman at the bar downstairs is too busy to talk to you and when you proceed she suddenly stops you. She seems to get satisfaction out of her little island of power.   Food and wine was good, however, the service was horrible. I literally had to ask the server to bring out bread and olive oil to accompany the humus and food we bought, they brought out bread but forgot the olive oil, smh. The server only came around every 30 mins. Took 2 trips to get cashed out. Not a tourist friendly place either, as they were joking with the locals about my displeasure at a nearby table. The server was very passive aggressive with how he attended our table. For the price this restaurant changes, they should match with service. Such a waste of food and atmosphere.   Bar and restaurant in a very unique building, futuristic but still very well fitting into the landscape. Be sure to sit in the right room, as the one dowsntairs is only assigned to the bar and food is not served there besides a few appetizers (no sign or staff member mentioned that to us as we entered). The view from inside is amazing and the terrace must be very nice on a non-windy day. The food is a little bit overpriced and overhyped, ok but nothing really special. The staff seemed a little overwhelmed - we had to wait a bit too long to our liking and I got a carioca instead of an espresso (didn't want to point out the mistake and have to wait again for the right one).   Worst wine tasting I haver had in my whole life! The girl at the bar seems upset and annoyed, asked for a wine tasting and was expecting to, at least, explain what type of wine was served. You are serving the wines of your home just show a bit of love of your country, of what you're doing. At the request of explanation about the wines the reply was "one red, one white, one rosé and one liquor" no joke! Asked again and the reply was "you can take a picture of the bottle". Location is beautiful but staff/experience is totally ruining it. On a side note the red wine Atlantis - Syrah was totally gone bad.   Go for the view and architecture, but don't go for the food. Worst food we've had on the island by a long-shot, poor service too and considerably more expensive than anywhere else.   Nice bar, but overrated as restaurant. The location is great and so is the interior. We went there for dinner and were disappointed. Service brought first course and main course pretty much at the same time and just put the steaks on a by table to let them get cold until we would have finished our cheese plate. In addition to that, they completely forgot the order of one person of our group. Food was good, but nothing special. Getting the drinks that we ordered worked 3 out of 4 times.   Unfortunately, my experience at Cella Bar was disappointing. While the location is stunning and the building is impressive, my overall impression was negative. The recent changes to the menu resulted in fewer options and even higher prices, and the English text was difficult to read due to small print and lack of contrast. When we ordered our first item, we were informed that it wasn't available. The waiter then mentioned that several other items on the menu were also unavailable, leaving us with limited options. When our food arrived, it was nothing special and felt overpriced. To make matters worse, neighboring tables were not cleared for a long time, and a pile of dirty plates sat in view near the bar for at least 30 minutes. While the ambience was nice, this detracted from the overall experience. The worst point was when my wife commented that a large section of the floor near our table was covered in ants, which was not only unpleasant but also unsanitary. Overall, while the location and building were impressive, the negative aspects of my experience at Cella Bar outweighed the positive. Quando pedimos nosso primeiro item, fomos informados de que ele não estava disponível. O garçom mencionou então que vários outros itens do menu também não estavam disponíveis, deixando-nos com opções limitadas. Quando a nossa comida chegou, não era nada de especial e parecia muito caro. Para piorar a situação, as mesas vizinhas demoraram muito para ser retiradas e uma pilha de pratos sujos ficou à vista perto do bar por pelo menos 30 minutos. Embora o ambiente fosse bom, isso prejudicou a experiência geral. O pior foi quando minha esposa comentou que uma grande parte do chão perto da nossa mesa estava coberta de formigas, o que não era apenas desagradável, mas também anti-higiênico. No geral, embora a localização e o edifício fossem impressionantes, os aspectos negativos da minha experiência no Cella Bar superaram os positivos.

  Walked in without a reservation around 6 p.m. Shared a local cheese plate, bread, and wine tasting in the bar area (enjoying the funky architecture) before being seated upstairs sometime around 7 for a fabulous dinner of grilled octopus and vegetables. Hat tip to the fabulous local gin in our G&T. We ate inside, but imagine on warmer days the deck would be quite inviting with its picturesque views of Horta. Definitely recommend!   Beautiful views, staff were very friendly but unfortunately the food was not of the same standard. The food was overpriced for what you received, basic food which didn’t represent the menu i.e BBQ ribs was ribs with a shop BBQ sauce in a pot on the side with dry ribs and equally dry chips, very disappointing for 18e.   The downstairs bar and view is just amazing, would have given 5 stars for that! The staff was helpful HOWEVER the restaurant upstairs seemed a bit dowdy and old. The steak chosen came in a watery very acidic sauce and was well over cooked „done“ instead of „medium rare“ ordered and the sweet potato purée ordered to it not knowing it would swimming wasn’t the right choice for it - maybe rice could have been advised for it. That said the purée shouldn’t have left the kitchen and was glue like and tasteless. The salad and garlic bread were good. For an establishment and pricing like this you definitely expect a better chef in the kitchen knowing what he is doing hence the rating. Like everyone says, the building is funky and the view is great. €11 for a (single but decent) Baleia gin & tonic plus €8 for a (much better than average) negroni is normal pricing by european standards, though higher than average island prices. Not 5* for two reasons: slow service and the bar inside is incredibly stuffy and humid (windows don't open and there is no aircon). Locals brought hand fans. Pretty expensive for Portugal but we had a great octopus (polvo) dish and dessert. 4 stars instead of 5 as 25 euro for main dish is expensive for Portugal and no reservations are possible so you might have to wait quite long.   We had a very bad experience today. We went there to have dinner around 18h30. The waiter told us they were full and that we had to wait. We could have a drink in the meantime, so we took two cocktails (which were not very good to be honest). After 30 min, the same waiter came outside and asked us if we were waiting for dinner (which was strange because he was the one who told us to wait). He told us we still had to wait, which seemed very weird to us because there were at least 6 empty tables and not a lot of people!! After 5 min he came again outside and told us the waiting time would be at least 1 hour... So we paid our drinks (which were apparently more expensive than on the menu) and left. The waiter said the kitchen was too slow and that that's the reason why there was such a long waiting time, but they probably knew this already in advance. We feel like they tricked us into buying drinks knowing that we couldn't have dinner there! So very bad experience + the venue isn't that nice. Not worth going to Cella Bar, better go somewhere else. When staying there for Drinks, we asked when the kitchen will open and arrived the next time just in time. We received our started quickly and it was delicious. The main courses arrived soon after it too, so we had starters and main course in parallel but that was fine for us. The main course was very delicious. Service was okay. The prices are higher (we paid 70€ for two persons for Water, one wine each, shared starter, fish main course & vegan main course and two Espressi). We would definitely come back!   Today we went to Cella Bar. We got a nice view and we sat there for drinks and lunch with a starter. The drinks came with our ordered pico cheeses, very delicious. We ordered the garlic bread too but it took way to long to arrive (over an hour). After that we waited and waited for our main courses. We had pork ribs and angus beef but it took forever. Unfortunately the service in the restaurant does not match the picture the place is creating by the interior. Although there was a staff member who was only managing the reservations the waiters really struggled. We had been waiting for service sometimes for more than 20 minutes with empty plates and glasses and one of the waiters even said that afterwards he was trying to avoid eye contact with guests in order not to get more tasks. As they even took a table from outside to the inside to serve more guests it seems that the management is only trying to maximize the profit on the back of the clients and the waiters.   The design of the restaurant and the location is excellent. You will find a lot of place for car parking around the building. Food is OK, but not outstanding. The male waiter forgot to ask how the steak should be prepared (medium, or well done), the famous crabs were vapid, saltless, etc. We are a group of 7 on holiday. We spent 4 days on Pico.   Read mixed reviews, decided to try it myself. The service was horrible. Main course was served while the starters weren’t even finished. Staff was more busy with their phones then with helping the customers, and seemed quite arrogant towards the customers. Food was under flavored, basic, badly prepared and expensive in comparison to other places we’ve been. Their “famous” Belgian chocolate mousse had as much air in it as a concrete brick. The coffee was a cup of flavorless sludge. I normally don’t write bad reviews like this one, but I was just appalled by the lack of both hospitality and culinary craftmanship. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone, if only for the interior- and seaview. It’s pretentious, and has a lot to improve to live up to its current 4,5-star rating.   This place is stunning. Best view imaginable if you sit outside or even in the bar. Cocktails are super tasty, snacks in the bar are too. With main courses, it can be a bit tricky. Has 3 floors, plenty of space and a great view on the top. The service was surprisingly fast but our order was small. Has a small natural pool really near, its a really well spent afternoon.   We went there for dinner and had a lovely table on the terrace with a view of the ocean. Our waiter was very nice and polite and gave us good recommendations.   I was surprised about the idea of the architecture - but, even this didnt convinced me because of the materials that were used. So, nice try. Wich really disapointed me was the food. Too expensive, unprofessionell done and somehow "would-like-to-be-special&great". Even the french fries had weird herbs on top. The tables are undersized: the cutlery inevitably falls left and right down when dropping. The Service... the little man was friendly but, most of the time dreaming around. What is actually obligation, at such a restaurant, just with that view: please, clean your windows. I paid, alone..., 20,00 Euro (no wine or great extras, just the dish of the day!) I could have also made the money for a beach snack- 75% less. I would recommend: more content and really good food or, quite simply, another price level. The idea does not justify the offer.   I visited Cella Bar on a few occasions as I was staying at an Air BNB nearby. You can't beat the view of Faial and Madalena coastline while sipping on a glass of wine. I also tried the tuna, which was fresh and delicious as well as their cheese plate. Although prices are a bit higher than most other restaurants, the view was certainly worth it.   Nice location with an even better view! First we had a drink downstairs in the bar and from 6:30 pm people could eat. As a starter olives, olive oil and homemade herb butter with bread and then both had the shrimp with rosemary potatoes. Both dishes had to be ordered separately and there were no vegetables. Perhaps just too little for someone with a big appetite. For dessert pana cotta (that was in a large glass) and the pineapple with syrup, both also very tasty. Food and drinks (cocktail / wine / beer and a bottle of water) were € 100 together, for this island quite an expensive bill but the service was friendly and attentive and we had a nice evening. There is a shop where you can also buy local wines. We thought the prices were on the very high side. Average price for a bottle was 20.00 euros. Like a wooden boat entering the ocean cellabar is a restaurant and bar featuring great drinks and good food.we were there for a gin in the evening and having a quick lunch the next day.   I am not going to evaluate the food as I did not had the chance to try it. Basically my bad experience was related with how they manage the table queue. We came there before the opening and they told us that they'll seat us when the restaurant opens. Meanwhile they told us that we can seat and have a drink in the bar. We did so. 20 minutes passed, 30...40...and we were not seated down. We asked the waiter. And he said that we had to wait 5 more minutes. Then we understood something went wrong, we checked the dinning room and we realised it was full. When we asked the maitre he confessed that he made a mistake and that he gave our table to two other groups because he did not realise that we were in the bar. After almost one hour waiting there we had to leave without dinning and they did not even offer a discount in the drinks we had. Advice for the management. You should not take the record of the table queue only by writing down the number of people, without any name to link the reservation. Depois de quase uma hora esperando lá tivemos que sair sem jantar e eles nem ofereceram desconto nas bebidas que tomamos. Conselhos para a gestão. Não se deve fazer o registro da fila de mesa apenas anotando a quantidade de pessoas, sem nenhum nome para vincular a reserva. Imagine que, por exemplo, dois grupos do mesmo tamanho vieram e ambos dizem que chegaram primeiro. Boa sorte!

  We were there two times: first night we just took a salad and cheese takeaway and two cocktails, second night we did aperitif on the tarace (very nice view and sunset) but wine (white) was warm, we asked for colder one but they didn't have it. We decided to eat sth small inside, we ordered one salad and can of tuna with lime and ginger, it was really good with fresh bread but we wait for it more then 30min, I mean it was tuna from can and salad nothing complicated. 7 waiters who actually didn't pay attention. Just John from the bar downstairs was really professional, both night he did perfect service.   Despite this being a clear tourist restaurant, I had a pleasant afternoon drink and appetizer there. I tried some local white wine, though they were out of the one on the menu, there was a great substitute that I sampled. I also ordered the small local cheese board with bread and it was delightful.   We went here for the view in a cool looking bar in hope of getting a nice mocktail. They only had two boring options and it tasted like a pimped up soda, not so good. We then wanted a tasty coffee instead and it was a nice variety on the menu. The problem was they didn't have any planted based milk which was a disappointment cause then we couldn't enjoy any of the coffee drinks. Service was good though and we had some yummy olives.   The place seems a bit overrated. Yes, the architecture is very well done and the view is very scenic. However, the prices are quite high and the food we ordered was not very special.   The decor and extension here is amazing. Loved the design. The staff were nice and informative to provide us history over place. My meat platter was missing the toast and jam but still filling.   A really nice spot right by the coast, terrace with views to Horta were amazing at sun set, even with some cloud cover. Food was excellent, best we have had in the Azores so far - can recommend the octopus. Wine and beer selection are both great. Staff were all really friendly. Interesting old stone building which has been restored nicely with a contemporary curved wooden structure added to one side housing the bar and terrace on its roof. All in all a great spot, and would highly recommend.   Omg! Very good food! Buuut one of the worst service ever! Very few people in the restaurant, 3 waiters and everybody was waiting 20-30 mins to receive the menu, the drinks . Our lunch took 2 hrs and half because of this. They were coming with the next round and not taking the empty plates from the table, was not enough space but still they were coming and going for many many times without sense.   Great place with spectacular views from the terrace. We were just dropping by and had some coffee which was very good. It is clear that this place has style and class. The shape of it is also nice (a barrel). It is amongst the more costly places, but well worth the money. I would definitely recommend to anyone going to Pico.   The bread, olive oil and butter starter was amazing. Bread was super fresh and tasty. Our main meals were delicious as well! We got the risotto and octopus. Veggies were fresh!   Perhaps we visited on an off day. Building and view are gorgeous. Service is slow but friendly. Wine list is long but much more expensive than any other place we've been during our 2 weeks on the island, but that wasn't entirely unexpected. Had some local cheese which was good, also ordered the lapas which were served a little cooler than luke warm, much different than the sizzling dish we had in other restaurants.   Once you’re done staring at the epic ocean view and the intriguing building design, mosey on into Cella Bar and start your hip and trendy wine and food adventure. We got the following three food items in addition to a basket of bread: 1. The grilled limpets: this was a dish we first tried in São Miguel and were disappointed by how chewy they were. But at Cella Bar, the experience was a 180. The limpets were so tender and flavored extremely well with generous amounts of butter and freshly minced garlic. Had them with the bread and oh boy. Yes. 2. Canned tuna. Yup. You heard that right. We bought canned tuna at a restaurant. It was on the menu and we couldn’t help but be intrigued. But it was local and it wasn’t disappointing! Loved the taste of the tuna and the olive oil it was packed in was deliciously fishy for bread dipping as well. I think this is available in stores around Pico though so maybe next time I’d just get that not in a restaurant? I don’t know what prices for this tuna normally look like 3. Belgian chocolate mousse: it’s more reminiscent of a ganache but whatever you call it, this was melt in your mouth DELICIOUS. The recommendations did not steer me wrong.   Paradise, great location with great view. You have to try the sangria because it's really good. The staff was really helpful and nice. The platter that they bring out full of different meats and cheese is delicious and very filling. They have outdoor and indoor seating. It could pass as for a romantic kind of place.   the drinks are good but if you order a strawberry daiquiri you expect it to be in crushed ice and it is not its just liquid and in a martini glass tastes right but its not a daiquiri without the ice same for the margarita. also needs more snack foods. it is a pretty place though. if anyone from the bar sees this, this is what a daiquiri should look like.
