  The staff were very good and spoke multiple languages. Restaurant itself looks good and is in great location. The food was ok, which was disappointing as we had been recommended to this restaurant. The mussels were rubbery, the rest of dishes were ok. But this was most expensive meal we had in Madeira and I'd hoped for more.   On our last day of our holiday, we decided to treat my sister in law to a meal. Ordered espada fish and chicken piri piri. The fish that arrived was off and you could smell this quite obviously. The chicken was no better than 2 left over thighs in a tomato soup with dry chips. On complaining to the waiter, we were met with just stares of aggression and contempt. We paid the bill for what we had consumed but still got not even a simple apology! Avoid this place at all costs. Try Mozart’s in the old town. Similar prices and 5 star food and service.   Had a brilliant meal here, I had the game meat sausage to start and black scabbard fish for main and my partner had octopus vinaigrette to start and pork cheek for main, the taste, portion size and presentation where all perfect.   Food was very nice, most of the waiters were great, unfortunately we had a waiter that seemed new, forgot our order then forgot our request for the bill at the end. I know mistakes happen but at a finer restaurant was quite a hit on the experience. Overall nice restaurant, not sure why they chose to put a tv inside, seemed odd considering the style of resteraunt. It's not cheap but they provide you with the level for this price, while some others give you bad experience for the same price.   The actual fish was of high quality but everything else on the plate was pretty tasteless and poorly put together. The purée had no flavour, the potatoe slightly undercooked and not much flavour etc. We went for the fish of the day which was lovely but there was no mention about it being 2x the price compared to everything else on the menu.   Went there for dinner mid January. Ambiance and decoration and great. The waiters are very polite and speak multiple foreign languages (at least french and English). Portions are generous and the food is very tasty and very well presented. Got a grilled octopus and mango cheesecake. My partner took the grilled vegetables with pesto and chocolate mousse.   One of the best restaurants on the island. We ate catch of the day, which was a sea bream with vegetables and potatoes. It was perfectly prepared. The terrace has really nice views and the atmosphere of the place is really enjoyable. After lunch we went for a swim on the beach right next to the restaurant.   Attended on 03/11/2023. Food was unreal along with the 10/10 service. The vibe and everything was done with compassion and desire to please. I cannot fault anything they have done. However, only and THE only criticism I have is that outside you could use with over head heater as the sea wind was getting chilly towards it the end. None the less, for the price one of the best experience I had. Two gentlemen that were waiting outside on the day were incredible. The options on the menu were great. We ordered a traditional espada - fish filet with salad and then some seafood (fish, squids, octopus) with vegetable on a stick with sweet potato. Both options were incredible! The seafood had perfect taste - my taste buds were literally dancing!!! The garlick dip perfectly sat the potatoes! Even the fish had really great taste - very well chosen spices! The salad dressing was incredible as well! I think the prices suit the quality and everything - plating, serving, taste, local sources.   The seafood here is fresh and delicious. The lobster salad appetizer is absolutely incredible. Very similar to a ceviche in preparation. We also had HUGE mussels (as big as large oysters in the States), before enjoying the Red Snapper as the catch of the day. This place is world class for a very reasonable price by western standards.   My fiancé and I went around 6pm on a Tuesday and there was no wait. We parked in the parking lot below the restaurant (note they are not associated and do not validate - that said parking was very affordable, 1€ per hour). It was that good) 1/2 sea bass (catch of the day) 1/2 tuna belly (catch of the day) Sweet potato side Mixed green salad side Drinks: Poncha with orange Poncha with passion fruit Camomile tea Complementary desert: Maderia wine Passion fruit liquor Overall, we aim to try local foods whenever we travel and we got a variety here. The star of the show was the garlic bread. It was absolutely amazing! The fish was also cooked well and came out soft and moist. The tuna belly was salted a little too much but I just paired it with the bread. I did not like the Poncha with orange (very alcoholic tasting) but the passion fruit one was good (smooth taste). We also tried their complementary desert drinks and we were only able to drink a sip before passing on them. There’s a good chance we’ll be back to get a couple more baskets of garlic bread!   I was looking for something good to eat on a sunday evening, when I stumbled across this beautiful restaurant near the sea.   Nice hidden gem & a must visit! Dined here twice with hubby & friends & I'm really sorry I have no photos but we were too busy eating & drinking 😅. The food has been exceptional both times, we had the Black Angus Steak & Pork Ribs which were cooked to perfection. The Madeiran wine, 5 years, medium sweet with a subtle aroma of liquorice was divine. Staff are very friendly, knowledgeable about the menus & very efficient.   Homemade Bread is very, very delicious as well as the sweet potatoes. No long waiting times and very kind service. Steak was perfect for steak fans. I am just not a big fan of medium cooked meat. But was my mistake as I have chosen it. But in total minus 1 star as the food was not spectacular. Otherwise it would be 5 Stars. Another good point for the restaurant is the fact that the portions are really big. So in the end we had lots of stuff over cause we could not eat everything.   I want to give this place a higher rating because the fish soup we ordered for our appetizer was good and also the fish we had as a main was solid but the service was just unbelievably slow. We had to remind the waiters multiple times that we had ordered another bottle of water and asked them when the food will be read (we had been waiting for a while) for both courses. To be fair, the restaurant was pretty busy but no table should wait 15min for a bottle of water.   this place is nothing if not overrated. the ambiance was rather unpleasant and the food was worse. we ordered "steak" and espada "traditional". the latter was unapologetically bland which was actually nice. the sides served with the meat came with different degrees of unbalanced seasoning and the steak was made from a not-steak-appropriate cut of meat. to top it all off, we got severe stomach ache not even an hour after the meal and were seriously considering seeking medical attention. would avoid.   I've ordered a Picado of beef and was told by the waiter that it was enough to share between 3 people with some garlic bread sides.. it was a CHILD size meal for the a very expensive price! Hardly any meat and a lot of super skinny and crunchy fries! 19,50€ for a plate of "crisps" really! Complained and was told there's nothing we can do! Service was nice but very disappointing meal!   Tasty food, very friendly staff and a good location; a place recommended by the locals. The fish of the day is very fresh with price on asking (make sure to ask at first as it varies by the kg of fish, the parrotfish pictured was in excess of €30), with the skin grilled to perfection; probably one of the best grilled fish meals I've had. The meat skewer (not pictured) was very well cooked and a very good portion at a reasonable price. The mussels were okay, not watery, but were a bit too much of a delicate flavour for the garlic butter that unfortunately overwhelmed some of their flavour. The bread and olives are a nice starter to share. It would be a great place to eat outdoors and watch the sunset if you know you're going to get a good one, otherwise bring a jacket, as the sun set we were offered a seat inside, which I'm glad we took. Nice wine selection on offer with a great selection of local drinks, it's definitely a place to come back to more than once!   Probably the best restaurant visit for our whole stay in Madeira (one week). I ordered the mussels for starters, as well as the skewers with a side of sweet potatoes and all of it was absolutely delicious. The seasoning of the mussels was great, the skewers were perfectly medium and the sweet potatoes were a creamy delight. The service was also really good, our server was professional yet genuinely funny. He even tried one of the snus (Swedish tobacco) that I offered him, but I am fairly certain that I enjoyed their goods more than he liked mine. All in all we had a great evening here!   Everything was super - the view, the food, and the service. I happen to know that octopus is a difficult dish to make right. Stewed octopus here was perfect - enough texture to keep it interesting, yet very tender. Another dish I highly recommend is black pork cheek. The meat is super tender and sauce gives it a regular taste explosion. The service is prompt and polite. Last but not least, everybody speaks English.   This is the nicest restaurant at the ocean front in Ribeira Brava. The views are gorgeous and it's clearly popular. The service took quite a bit longer, too, because there were so many customers. The food itself came quickly. I had an amazing Thai chicken curry here. Totally unexpected to find this dish plus the quality of it. Highly recommend coming here.   Nice semi-secluded location away from the main town with outdoor space... Had the Thai prawns which were large and seemed fresh. Not very Thai but tasty and good selection of vegetables.   Spectacular views, spectacular food. If you are looking for a place for a special occasion or just to have drinks to watch the sunset, I can really recommend Muralha Terrace. Prices are a little bit upscale as you would expect from such a location, but it’s definitely not the kind of place where you’re only paying for the view. The food is excellent.   The food here is ridiculously good! We have been here couple times and everything was great. My special recommendation goes towards the giant prawns, garlic bread (the best I had in Madeira) and the sea bass. A must place to eat at in Madeira.   Restaurant is located at the edge of town a bit elevated from street level. Has a terrace overlooking the ocean. Decor inside is modern but with a local twist. We opted the catch of the day which was sea bass (30 euros a kilo). The fish was very grilled and seasoned right. It tasted exceptionally well. Still moist, fell off the bone. One of the nicest cooked fish I ever had. Salad was very well done, fries could have been a bit better. Overall exceptional meal. Staff was efficient and friendly. Price quality is good.   Great restaurant with excellent price quality ratio. Try the lapas and the mussels appetizers, with fried corn. Amazing. Great view and service. The fish is fresh and well prepared. The only negatives are that sometimes the food takes long to arrive. But oh well, it's worth it. Friendly staff is a great plus. The view is spectacular. You can see the sunset and the horizon and the ocean. Fantastic! Note to management : the lighting could be better. At night the lights on the vertical support beams on the outdoor dining section are very annoying. They put light right into people's eyes.
