  My wife and I had a wonderful evening in the restaurant. Our last night in Porto, and the experience was lovely. Nice fish soup and shrimp croquettes, and for main course seafood rice. Local rosé wine is very drinkable and good value. Plus port to finish. The waiting team are super friendly, helpful and funny. Looking forward to visiting again in the autumn. We went on a Wednesday evening in February, and although many restaurants in Matosinhos we walked past were empty, these guys were full.   Our first meal in Portugal was amazing. We stopped in Matosinhos which along the water. The seafood was so fresh and delicious. We ordered the grilled octopus as our entre and also shared several of the small dishes including the fried sardines, shrimp croquets and grilled squid. I recommend every dish we ordered and enjoyed.   Very professional and friendly staff, even when it's fully booked they still take their time to help you. They gave us good recommendations on the fish and wine and it was served very fast. The sea food is fresh and you can taste that, it's one of the best turbot/octopus I've tasted. We came a bit late and it was full + 4 more reservations waiting, they told us we could wait and they would try to find a table when available. We got some champagne on the house while waiting. I think most people would have given 5 stars for fish main dishes but I don't think i can fairly rate it because i just ordered grilled sardines. They were nicely done, excellent value-for-money (7pcs for 13 eur), but not yet perfectly executed. Perhaps some lemon will help.   What a place!! The food was just superb and everything was very fresh. We ordered 4 starters and every single one of them was just amazing. Strongly recommend getting fried squid and octopus salad. Our friends were astonished by the service and the sympathy of the owner Ivo, a great friend of ours, too.   Hands down best fish restaurant in Oporto. Quality of catch is amazingly fresh but the way it’s cooked is truly exceptional. Starting with shrimp croquettes the explosion of flavours leave you impatiently wait for the seafood rice which is another burst of taste n flavour inside you. The presentation of grilled cod fish alone makes you devour it with sautéed veggies and potatoes. The fish was very fresh and the serving staff were pleasantly polite.   There are ofcourse many seafood restaurants in this area but Meia-Nau definitely is the one with a soul. The seafood was simply amazing! One of the best I’ve tried so far (oysters were so good I almost hate them, giant shrimp in a citrus sauce is to die for… and make sure to save some space for dessert!). The restaurant is tastefully decorated, offers a great range of local wines and has a great service too.   We were lucky and got a table for 2 on a Sunday evening w/o prior reservation. The Dorado and the Salmon were fresh, verrrry delicious and quite big :) Due to yummy fish we weren’t able to finish our side dishes (potatoes, rice and legumes: all freshly made and tasty). We’ve had piementos with salt and Lula (octopus) as starters which were fresh and yummy as well. The service was superb and the espresso was the best (almost no acid, very mild) we’ve had in years. Prices for fresh fish are more than adequate. We can only highly recommend dining at Meia-Nau. The caramal fondant was the dessert recommendation, which was simply perfect. It's worth the 15 minute preparation time. Staff were friendly, our waiter was new, and he struggled a little with some English, but he was doing his best and was charming. Sardines were only just coming into season, but we had no experience of them before, and they were delicious. The sea bass was amazing too. The prices look intimidating, but the two of us sardines, peppers, 4x shrimp, seabass, a big bowl of vegetable rice, chocolate torte, a beer each and a bottle of wine and it came to £75.   Great experience! When we arrived the menu seemed a little daunting due to the fact all the fish are priced per kilo. However after we were explained how it works by the incredibly helpful staff we found the ordering process very simple and effective! Not to mention reasonably priced! We had mussels and padron peppers for starter and a Dorada main course. One fish weighing around 0.80kg was more than enough for two people! The seafood was so tasty and fresh and the barbecued fish was delightful and served beautifully by our waiter. We were served a glass of wine while we waited. Upon seating we were greeted with pate, bread, and olives. The wine was perfect. Our server was world-class.   Amazing food. I didn’t want the mussels but my partner did and wow I was amazed. The squid and white sangria were also really really good. What’s great about this place is that they only serve fresh fish! We had the sea trout which was good, but honestly I’d come back anytime for their side dishes (mussels and squid etc) anytime!   Highly highly recommend. Had the clams, tiger prawns and the grilled seabass which were all cooked to the highest standard. My favourite was the sea bass which was grilled to perfection! The service was so attentive and welcoming- overall a lovely dining experience. Would honestly recommend to anyone visiting Matosinhos. I would personally go there everyday if I was staying there!   This is definitely one of the best fish restaurants of the street! We went with 4 people, had a cocktail and bottle of wine. The fish is very fresh and comes with some nice potatoes. The side dishes and cocktails are also very nice. There is nothing bad to say about this restaurant at all. Prices are also very realistic. If you don't like to wait for a table or you are with a group (6+ people) make sure to make a reservation. We waited half an hour for a table but got a free glass of wine while waiting. They are very busy so I recommend getting a reservation (we were able to do this same day). We came here based on a recommendation from a local resident and he couldn’t have been more right about how great the food and service was.   I visited Meia-Nau for the first time yesterday and will definitely go back, the food is just sooo delicious .The service is top notch, everybody is so friendly and polite and the place is always full , I guess that’s a very good sign.Caramel Fondant is to die for, it’s well worth waiting for.
