  jamon jamon is located right outside the castle walls in obidos, just up the hill from where our air bnb was. we arrived for a late lunch with no reservations and the host (and proprietor?) was extremely friendly and accommodating, found a space and moved around tables and chairs for us despite the restaurant being full. we ordered a selection of tapas to share and everything was tasty, my favorites being the pork cheeks and beans in tempura. house wines were nice and everything came out quickly. would definitely recommend and suggest making reservations beforehand so you’re guaranteed a spot!   Very nice place in the center of Obidos Medieval Town serving tapas and main courses divided in Fish - Meet - Vegetables. We tried the octopus “a Lagareiro” served in a hot pan with mixed vegetables. Just note that they use a lot of oil (not a problem for us). The service is also very kind.   It was the mast day of my mom visiting me in Portugal and i want to take her to a special place. Food and service surpassed my expectation. We were coming in with high expectations based on previous recommendations and reviews, and we were a little let down as the food was ok and the service was quite slow.   Our initial lunch at Jamon Jamon was impressive. The tapas were a delightful treat, which encouraged us to book a table for dinner to explore their main dishes. However, dinner took a disgusting turn when we found a used plaster among our prosciutto slices. Such an occurrence is inexcusable and gravely concerning. Although the staff acted swiftly and apologized, the manager's response was totally inadequate. His brief apology felt insincere. In addition, the sangria we ordered was inexplicably delayed. We did not want to make a big case out of it in front of the other customers. However, the staff assured us they will make an important gesture of goodwill for the disgusting experience. Instead, the manager's offer was laughably minimal: a discount on bread and fries amounting to just 10 euros. His defense that it wasn't his fault, and that he couldn’t do more was really unprofessional. He was rude with his staff - stressing the fact that nowadays it is hard to find professional staff - who was nothing but warm and diligent throughout our dinner. In essence, while the staff at Jamon Jamon works hard and is nice, the management's approach and the incident overshadowed our experience.   Good food but really overpriced. We had 2 octopus a la “galeaga” and 3 tapas: 1 shrimps and 2 fried cuttlefish. It was all good in quality but too much expensive (12.50€ for each tapas!)   An expensive way of going home hungry. I've eaten tapas in very many places, and while this wasn't the worst, it most certainly was far from the best. Limited and unexciting menu of over-priced (for Portugal) choices, and although nothing was bad, only one dish was exciting.   Loved this place! It’s right outside the castle walls and is Portuguese tapas. I had the pork cheeks and cheese pastry. Both were delicious. The pork cheeks were super tender and flavorful and the cheese pastry was flaky and rich. The salad was also nice, I loved the nuts for the added crunch. Also, the service was amazing. We shared 4 taps, the fried cuttle, sausage croquettes, shrimp and vegetable side dish and everything was delicious. I think spent $57 for lunch for two of us several alcoholic beverages.   An amazing place! The vibe, the food, the attitude of the staff 10/10. We got here quite late and with no reservation but were able to get a table right away. We chose 5 appetizers between the two of us and it was perfect if not a little too much. Our waiter recommended 3 apps, we got all of them and were super happy. For dessert, we tried their baba de camelo and our waiter brought cinnammon saying he prefers it that way if we wanted try it on top. It was perfect and such a nice gesture!   Visited twice during a five day golf trip to Obidos and was by far the best meal with excellent value. The tapas options are the way to go and we all loved the Ukraine pancakes and pork cheeks. Great service and helpful wine choice from the waiter.   Not sure if we went to a different place than the other reviewers, but this was not good. Compared to other cities in Portugal, food in Obidos has not been that great all round, but Jamon Jamon has been the worst yet. We were so looking forward to the home made bread, which was just dry and stale. ;aybe buying it would be better. We tried several of the tapas dishes and only the prawns were ok, the others were downright bad. The croquettes were overpowering smokey, the broad beans simply batter with no taste. A simple tartar sauce is tying to cover up all taste. The waiter was super nice and did a great job in selling the dishes, so 1 star for friendly service as least.   We literally have no words. The kindness that was offered to us was incredible. We walked in to grab desserts after dinner. There were no tables available, so we asked to grab them to go. The person who works at the front desk (I wish I took his name!) offered us a table on the backside and surprised us with two DECLICIOUS desserts. He didn't even charge us for those two desserts. We were so surprised by how delicious those two desserts were!!! I hope to go back to Obidos one day just so I can dine at Jamon Jamon and have their desserts again!   Lovely restaurant overall!!! The first night I went, I ordered the pork cheeks and tempura green beans. I loved both dishes but especially the pork cheeks! The house wine was also quite nice. The second evening I ordered a Ukrainian crepe with meat filling, also very tasty! Their caramel pudding was delightful. I also really enjoyed the service, the best I’ve had in Portugal so far!   Very quaint spot conveniently located just outside the castle wall. Excellent service, friendly staff. We started with vegetable soup which was honestly the best we had eaten during our stay in Portugal. We ordered some sharing plates , tapas however, wasn’t what we imagined. The tempura runner beans were a disappointment. I guess we were expecting a tradition light crispy tempura batter.instead the batter was thicker and more like a bun….   We showed up after they were supposed to close but Simon said they could still serve us a limited menu, we ordered the sausage and chorizo croquettes which were AMAZING little flavor balls of smoke and deliciousness.   I came here for lunch during my quick trip to Obidos, and this place was perfect! It had a cute and cozy courtyard in the back with a nice view. The waiter was really welcoming and helpful - he suggested the braised pork cheek simmered in red wine and the battered beans, both traditional dishes. Since I was by myself, the waiter said I could get a half order of the beans, which was perfect! The pork dish was absolutely delicious.. It was flavourful, tender, and you could tell it was slow cooked for a long time! The beans were also yummy and paired perfectly with the pork.   This was easily my favourite tapas visited in Portugal. Tapas are everywhere in big cities & towns, but JamonJamon is quite special due to the ambiance & the restaurant has elegant interiors with a cozy old time charm. We loved all the appetizers, but the best one is the peixinhos da horta (traditional tempura green runner beans). Our server was really sweet. He let us sample some ginja (on the house).   Honestly don’t get what the hype was about with the food, it was alright but not rave worthy or unique to the area. Giving them a low rating because of extremely poor service. (I’d be forgiving if the food was anything exceptional, it average to above average at best) We arrived when the seating area was 50% empty.   All around, very basic, nothing special. All we got for a priced fixed menu was a simple salad, some french fries, croquettes, and sausage balls. The restaurant forgot to deliver us the cheese and sausage board but they charged us for it anyway, and didn't refund us after promising to do so. They were extremely stingy with the portions.   We were a bit worried about enough vegetarian options but this was our best meal in Obidos. Vitor was really helpful and made really good suggestions for what we could eat!   Quite frankly one of the best meal I’ve had in Portugal after living here for 2 months. Location is amazing, exceptional staff and food is extremely good. We tried a bunch of tapas and they were all phenomenal. Prices are also very honest.   It was lunch time during the time of COVID, and we were out to explore our new home having recently moved to the Óbidos area. Enticed by the simplicity of its name, we decided to give this cute restaurant a try. We were greeted with a warm welcome, and stepped down through a rounded archway into a stylishly minimal space, with chunky rustic tables and mismatched chairs. Our waiter, Victor, led us through the menu and directed us to choose from some of the restaurant's signature small plates.   Really delightful meal for newcomers to Portugal. Our friendly and helpful waiter suggested three yummy starters for us, the Pork Cheeks, Stuffed Mushrooms, and Baked Cheese. These three, with a side of bread, were enough food for two hungry people at lunch. All were great, but our favourite was definitely the cheese.   I visited the restaurant based on great reviews on google and it was ok. We waited one hour for the table, and the staff was nice and updated us on when the table was ready. I had the octopus which was too chewy for me, and my boyfriend had secretos. The food was ok, but nothing above the average unfortunately (and a bit pricey).   We did a day trip to Obidos from Lisbon and Jamon Jamon was our sole choice to dine at while we were in town. They offered a few lunch specials that were listed on the sign board outside, and all the entrees were very reasonably priced. We tried their salted cod, grilled pork in a cream sauce, and a pork stew which consisted of all kind of yummy pig pieces (pig's feet, sausage, leg meat, etc). The salted cod fillet was a very generous portion size and all dishes were accompanied with rice, fries, or potatoes as your accompanying starch. When we went in November, they were doing some kind of renovation on the roof, but they were completely opened so don't let that deter you from stopping in. They're located off the main streets that weave through Obidos Village but they're worth the very short walk. However it was different from what was written in the guide book. The price was way too high for what it is compare to other restaurants in portugal. Furthermore drinks are not written on their menu so we can not know the price. Finally when we asked for the bill, they gave us our table’s number and asked us to go to the counter. When we went to the counter, they told us the total amount that we had to pay. But they did not give us the detailed bill... so we could not know whether it was a correct amount. I don’t feel like going back to this restaurant next time.   Absolutely amazing. Andre and his staff were perfect in every way. He apologetically charmed us like a Spanish/Portuguese Hugh Grant, all the while curating a masters class in simple cooking with extraordinary ingredients with his relatively short menu. It was a foodies dream: complete with humor, amazing wine (which he has made for the restaurant) and simple ingredients combined together with smashing results. The prices are lower than you think they should be, even though Andre threatens to raise them as you are eating! Oh, and he bakes fresh bread every morning in a wood fired brick oven. I’d give 4 stars for their food One thing I didn’t like about this place was that their Sangria is not sangria you’d expect. It’s tinto de verano. I’ve lived in Spain before, and at least for me, Sangria and tinto de verano are two very different drinks. I wouldn’t have ordered Sangria if I had known tinto de verano would come out. I think they should explain how it’s made instead of just calling it sangria and giving people a different drink. Putting all above behind, the only reason for three stars is our server. There were a lot of good reviews towards their service, but ours wasn’t that nice after all. We would ask what’s chef’s suggestions for the day and what kind of drinks they have because they don’t say anything about those things on the menu, but the way he talked and just his attitude in general wasn’t so nice that it bothered us a little. Overall, I think it’s a cool place to have lunch or dinner at a reasonable price. Obviously it’s a bit pricey being in the town, but it wasn’t the end of the world. The most expensive dish was €25, and usually every main dish price ranges from €15-€17. We ate the cheeze which was amazing, half of our clams were unopened so not good for consumption and our rice of sea food was more of a soup with some shrimps, mussles and fake sea food (goberge).   Every single dish was delicious! We had the steak, pork cheeks, ox tail, duck, chicken wings, and sardine toast. The staff was attentive too. They brought a high chair for my daughter, as well as the baby at the neighboring table. I cannot say enough about this place. It's a wonderful place for a date or family dinner. Walking directions: At the entrance to the castle/village area, there's a parking lot where you purchase a permit to place on your car dashboard. Follow the path along the front of the visitors center. When the road forks, take the right side that looks like the path declines (goes down hill). That path will lead you toward the restaurant. (If you follow the fork left, you'll head into the village/shopping area, with lots of cute shops, including restaurants and Ginja shops where you get a cherry liquor served in small chocolate cups.) Quando a estrada se bifurca, siga pelo lado direito que parece que o caminho declina (desce a colina). Esse caminho o levará em direção ao restaurante.   Wow. I don’t think I have the words to describe this restaurant. But I’ll try ... It goes straight into my top 5 restaurants I’ve been to.   Jamom Jamon was one of the best dinners in our Portugal trip ! The service was so personal, it felt like you were at someone's home, not a restaurant. The duck leg confit was the moistest duck I have ever had, and the pork dish with orange sauce was great as well. They change their specials everyday depending on the local produce they procure.   Everything was excellent, except...First the good news: from the olives and herbed butter to the warm bread, to the incredibly melty goat cheese appetizer, the grilled green chilies - it was all wonderful, foodie-level fare. Well, it was barely recognizable as such - it looked and tasted like a fish-derived frozen concoction, inedible. We had a delicious chicken dish, pork dish, bottle of nice local wine, one dessert, 2 coffees and a very tasty home brewed ginja all for €27. Family run and very friendly.   We had dinner at Jamon Jamon this evening and it was such an amazing experience! We popped in around 4 to check there would be a table available (it's a bakery that does lunch and some evening food) and was told to come any time before 8. We we returned we sat in a little court yard which we luckily had all to ourselves. The owner and his mother were so welcoming and friendly. They do not have a menu in the evening but just run through what they have on offer and you can chose which courses you'd like. We had a homemade vegetable soup (fresh and flavoursome) with their bread made in site at the bakery. We then had a sausage with cinnamon and honey (sounds weird but AMAZING!) which is a local speciality. The main course was a sausage dish with pasta. The food was all cooked simply in homely style but cooked with passion and great ingredients. The wine was local and very good (only one choice red, white or rose) and complimented the food well. We finished with a dessert each (an amazing chocolate mousse and a custard and cinnamon pudding) and declined coffee or anything else due to being full and happy and were shocked to receive a bill of only €34!!! Everyone should visit this place if you get the chance- good quality ingredients cooked and served with love and amazing value. Terminamos com uma sobremesa cada (uma incrível mousse de chocolate e um pudim de creme e canela) e recusamos café ou qualquer outra coisa por estarmos satisfeitos e felizes e ficamos chocados ao receber uma conta de apenas 34 €! Todos deveriam visitar este lugar se você tiver oportunidade - ingredientes de boa qualidade preparados e servidos com amor e um valor incrível.
