  We dined here twice and it was brilliant on both occasions. High quality dishes full of fresh ingredients and flavour. We ate early in the evening because we have a small child and it was easy to get a table. The food here is 10 times better than anything available to us in our hotel restaurants.   Had a lovely pizza as was was staying in the grande real Santa hotel so wanted to stay local.   We stayed pretty close to this restaurant and saw a queue every day. So we got curious and tried it out. I got to say I understand why it's so popular! Nice atmosphere, amazing food and great service. They recommended this pizza to us, which I haven't had before. But I got to warn you the Portobello pizza is sweet, so if you don't like the idea of sweet pizza don't order it. I really loved it! Staff was extra nice.   We arrived around 20:00 Friday night 25th Aug 23, with no booking. A very nice and friendly young woman brought one of the two free tables. The eating area was indoors but all windows open giving it plenty of ventilation and feeling outdoors. The was plenty of choices for the starters and main courses for the 4 of us. We all different starters, all fabulous! Warning on the garlic bread starter, it's huge! Cocktails were excellent, house white wS lovely and Stella for beer. Staff were very nice, prompt with responses and constantly cleaned their hands when exiting the kitchen. The place is spotless! Four mains were delicious. Pizza, bologna and salmon pasta. Unable to finish pizza's due to sharing of the huge garlic bread. Brought them home. Total bill: 4 starters. 4 mains, 7 cocktails, 2 glasses of wine, 3 beers. €169. Includes €1 for the box to bring home the fantastic Pizza's for Saturday lunch. Didn't get desserts as we had no room. Outstanding value and service.   Portobello Restaurant, not impressed… we visited earlier this evening following glowing reviews. I have two young boys, both are diabetic. Myself and my wife ordered drinks for ourselves. We make up the boys drinks for them, but the waiter said we had to order drinks for them. So we put their drinks away and sadly declined, when they wanted a drink with their meal we took them outside the restaurant so they could have a drink. Twice !! This is the first restaurant since they were born has insisted we cannot give them their bottles. I’m absolutely shocked.   we have just taken some pizzas to take away and I am super disappointed. the waiter promised us that it would be one of the best pizzas in the world and other reviews also say so, but in reality pizzas were terrible. Normally, I can easily finish 1,5 pizza, but this time I could barely eat 4 slices. 1) cheeze has a very poor quality 2) these pizzas are not classical Italian pizzas at all, ingredients are absolutely different 3) it reminds me home made crazy mix pizzas 4) In addition pizzas are quite expensive 5) the taste is ok 6) it was burnt to sum up, please don't order a pizza there, maybe other food is ok, but pizza is terrible.   The restaurant did well to cater for a large group of us on short notice and make sure that all of us got our food relatively quickly and at the same time. The cost was pretty good value as well. Dishes were a bit hit and miss but nothing was bad to the point that it was worthy of complaining about, just a bit disappointing.   Just a great place to eat. My family and I arrived in Portugal quite late and just wanted to get some food before going to bed. So we joined the (actually quite short) queue to get a table. I’m glad we stayed in that queue because the food was absolutely amazing, the staff was really kind and we just had a great time overall.   We visited Portobello on our first evening in Albufeira and I must say well done to all the staff. My youngest was extremely tired after the traveling and they even rushed her meal out first so she could sleep (thanks guys). The friendly welcoming staff made you feel at home and to top it off the best food we had on our visit, so much so we went back before we went home and the food was even better.   Stayed in The Balaia and had a meal on our last night here tonight and I was so sorry I only found this in my last night. We were a family of 4 including a 2 year old, and the food was top class from start to finish, starters, mains, desserts and cocktails were all top class, would highly recommend and will definitely be back. Staff were very friendly and good with kids making sure they were looked after. A really good feed and at a very good price. If your a big group or after 8pm you may have a wait Returned to Portobello 3 years on due to covid but was delighted to see it still open, still with great friendly staff and the food still being fantastic.   Ate here three times in a ten day holiday, the food was excellent the staff were very friendly and couldn't do enough for you, price is reasonable too.   This can't be called a pizzaria. Pizza's are not tasty at all. The staf is verry unfrienly. We had to wait an hour for two slices of garlicbread. Then we had to wait another 30 minutes to get two mediocre pizza's. The place wat not full at all, and there was plenly of staf. So no excuses for the long wait. We will never go there again.
