  Great friendly service but very fast. Delicious food. Small portions but surprisingly filling. I asked for mild but there was a definite kick in it. The prawns were really fresh & juicy.   We had the lunch meny and were served by a grumpy waiter. After waiting a while for the starter papadums we asked for them. The waiter looked at us with an angry face and said "Yes, you will get papadums, they come with your meal" And so they did. So we could enjoy our starters after the main course or wait for it to get cold. The chicken meals were OK but nothing special and neutral taste, although we asked the tikka masala to be medium spicy. The naan was thin and rather dry. In short: I don't recommend this place, especially as you can walk 50 m away to Indian Papadum where everything is so much better.   Not sure why it's so highly rated. I think most Indians will agree that food here isn't great at all. Tried the mango chicken and palak paneer and both were not good. Palak paneer lacked flavor or any hint of garlic, tomatoes were raw and had a foul smell. Mango chicken was just aam papad gravy with chicken pieces. No other flavor. Disappointed.   Had a lovely meal here with my mother on our holidays, struggled too find a nice cuisine and as we both enjoy Indian decided to try find somewhere appealing. Masala House was the 2nd top rated Indian in Portemiu and it lived up too this. Lovely meal and staff were genuine, friendly and attentive. Even got a taxi called for us on a busy Saturday night. We were in Portimao for a month and we dined there two or three times a week. We were never disappointed. Masala House is one reason I am eager to get back to Portugal!   Overall, good experience. The food tasted fresh, and the service was good. I would not hesitate to eat here again. They have a 8.95€ fixes price menu (see the photo), but it is only available at lunchtime (11:00-15:00). We spent 42€ for three people for simple dishes, plus rice, plus naan, plus drinks. This restaurant is on a spicier side, we got 3 stars on the scale 1-6 and it was somewhat spicier than I expected. Still tasted pretty good. Mango chicken and chicken tikka masala were a little too sweet for my taste. Chicken pasanda was great.   The naans were too yeasty and disgusting, the tandoori roti was the worst roti we've ever had. The kadai chicken paste was edible but the chicken was hard. For the prices charged the least they can do is get their breads right ! Especially since they seem to have two restaurants, that's making the same mistakes twice!   I'd been here several times and recommended it to many friends, but my last visit in November 2019 I was very disappointed. Four of us went out for a meal, unfortunately i should have known we was in for a bad night when four starters could not be served together. There was a 15 minute delay between the first two (Onoin Bajiis) and the next two coming out (Sheekh Kebab) not good when you are dining as a four. I understand fresh food takes time but there was only some 10 people in the restaurant in total. When the second set of of sheekh Kebab arrived it was tasteless not spicy at all and when we was nearly finished these a slightly spicy marinade arrived not good really. The mains wasn't great well below the usual standard not the normal fresh ingredients, this also came out in dribs and drabs. I could go on but I think for me its better to vote with my feet. But it’s not in London, it’s in a small town in Portugal, and it serves very decent Indian food, and the service is good, and it’s not expensive. So I gave it five stars for being above expectations. If you don't like the food, they are open to constructive feedback and next order is exact to your liking. My girlfriend ordered the chicken vindaloo, which I thought was so good so I ordered another for myself.   First time in Portugal. Eaten at some lovely Portuguese resturaunts. Hubby's birthday so he wanted an Indian meal. We live in France so don't get to eat at a good Indian restaurant!!!   Although the food was nice it was not as we have had before from indian restaurants the chicken somosa wasnt filo but short crust pastry and filled with a dry crumbled chicken my chicken rogan josh was rather thin and watery but tasty however there was far too much tomato in it for me. My partner left quite a lot of her korma and her chicken pakora were very different to what we were used to so they were left too. The place was clean and the prices not too bad for a tourist area.   Masala House was the most amazing restaurant in Portimao, Algarve. The ambiance was spectacular and unique. The restaurant was spotless and had a great vibe. You could tell the tourists and regulars enjoyed the food and the service. Rohit and the staff went above n beyond to cater to our needs. The food was delicious and made to satisfy the needs of the customer, Mild to hot they were so accommodating. Masala house is a happening place, you could see the customers enjoyed the tasty food. The staff were so friendly and i will go back the next time i travel to Algarve. I recommend this restaurant to anyone traveling to Portimao. They will absolutely love it, as much as i did.   I didn't go to Portugal in search of fabulous Indian food, but I found it at Masala house!! I had the chicken sagwala which was full of flavour. The pickles were great, and the waiters couldn't do enough to make us all relax. Brilliant restaurant well worth a try!   On holiday from Scotland, visited Masala House after seeing it advertised and didn't regret it. Food was fantastic, and the staff could not be more helpful. Prices reasonable (especially at lunch time) and ended up visiting 3 times on a 7 day holiday. Definitely the place to go in Portimão for a curry.
