  So cool! An unassuming spot that leads through what looks like a vintage shop down to a beautifully decorated restaurant. Nice soft music playing, dim lights - the whole experience. And it was beachfront!! I had the fish of the day (sea bass) and it was sublime. My wife had a recommended vegan dish and it was awesome, too. The chocolate cake with ice cream dessert was vegan!   Beautiful place! A lot of vegan options! The sangria was so delicious. Had the seitan with fries and pepper sauce. Tasted amazing. Really impressed for a non vegan restaurant to make that good vegan food. Definitely recommend. All though a little to pricey but I guess you’re also paying for the view.   Fine VEGAN FOOD!! Wow what a treat! We were so lucky to experience some fine vegan food tonight at Safari. A vegan seitan peppercorn steak, delicious salads and sides. My husband was so happy to eat a steak as a vegan. The staff was incredible, thoughtful and kind. We sat out on the patio and were given blankets to cuddle up in. Candle lit dinner with the sound of the waves right beside us. My favorite meal in all the Algarve region by far. Great job and thank you for the vegan options!   This is honestly the best restaurant I have ever visited. We had garlic bread, bread and olives for a starter, which was so good! Then my main was Seitan in agave sauce with strawberry rice and my god, I have never tasted anything as amazing as this. I don’t think I’ve ever had anything near to the level this food was. Really good portion size too! Staff were so friendly and chatty. We will definitely be back before we leave Portugal! Thank you!!   Our favourite place to eat in Portimão! Incredible vegan options as well as delicious meat and fish dishes. We visited 3 times in a one week stay! The atmosphere is so cosy with a terrace looking out to the ocean. The staff are wonderful as well, super friendly. Josemar was a delight especially. Thank you and see you next time we visit! I'm actually glad they'd run out of the crab because my second choice did not disappoint; saitan in a sweet agave sauce with strawberry rice and a very tasty side salad. Inside is a lovely, homely and warm restaurant with a terrace looking over praia de rocha and with good tunes and vibes. The food was delicious and we enoyed it immensely whilst watching the sun set.   One of the most complete experiences a restaurant can provide. I am usually not the one for long reviews but this one wins over my heart! The owner is genuinely involved in making sure the guests feel comfortable and well attended and the staff is also equally nice and polite. No wonder this was rated so highly. Also, very affordable for the unmatched quality. We went to many other more expensive restaurants in algarve but never had the experience been so wonderful. Furthermore, to top off everything the food is genuinely delicious and tastes very authentic. Will definitely recommend to anyone looking for a great experience!   I have been coming to Praia da rocha each year for about 20 years (since I was 6!!) and we have always come back to Safari - the staff are the most lovely people and are so welcoming. And the food is absolutely amazing - I have come back to Praia da rocha as a vegetarian and they have such amazing options. I absolutely cannot recommend it enough.   Food-wise, this restaurant is among the best I've tried in Portimão, especially for vegetarian/vegan food - great creative options. Also the view is beautiful and the interior is very charming. The service is slow and not so attentive though - they tend to forget about you after bringing the mains and it can be hard work to get more drinks or even to pay your bill 😁 However, with food this great I can forgive the wait!   Excellent restaurant with some different dishes, with an African influence. Had 1 of the best meals I've had in a long time. I'd never heard of banana cerviche, but it is a little taste of heaven. We were then asked to return so they could make up for the mistake. Unfortunately when we returned we were all but ignored. Service was incredibly slow and we might as well have not been there after our main. We wanted desert but despite our best efforts to get the attention of waiting staff were ignored for almost 30mins. eventually we gave up and left.   We came across this place unexpectedly and so glad we went in. We had an incredible meal and experience with the lovely staff there. The food couldn’t of been better was a taste sensation. They had a customised clothes section in the restaurant at the entrance which had some really different cool pieces of clothes really well made/ designed and so reasonable.   We were referred to this restaurant after arriving late into town. Sure glad we went. Small little family owned restaurant that has good homemade Portuguese food. Chatted with the owner and he explained how he wanted to bring good food to town. Family owned since 1976. Small patio right on the boardwalk overlooking the ocean. The 3 helpers were very friendly and always smiling. The lamb stew and chicken curry was delicious. Highly recommend either. The house wine was fantastic for only 3€ a glass.   A party of 8, with 2 young children, we arrived a few minutes late, but as there were only 2 other tables occupied we were unprepared for the wait for our food - and the non appearance of our starter, garlic bread. Our waitress also couldn't cope with our drinks order and missed one person out. My sea bass was excellent, the prawns were good, the chicken curry was enjoyed and the 2 vegan options were good too. One child had the kids meal (chicken breast and chips), the other is vegetarian and there wasn't an option for him. Having asked for a small bowl of pasta with tomato sauce it arrived - plain. If I were marking on food alone, it would have got 4 stars (less 1 star because they'd run out of swordfish). But as our drinks took 45 minutes to arrive and due to the chaotic service it's a 3 from me.   Worst experience in Algarve. I don't understand why there are so many positive reviews... The food may be even good, but a restaurant is not made only by food. First, I reserved at 8.30 pm and the first thing the waitress told us was that we had to leave at 9.30pm because our table was reserved at that time... But they are so slow and incompetent that we could only leave at 11pm... We received the menu. It took 45 minutes to have our drinks and appetizers... Unbelievable but the waitress was not able to open our bottle of water and she asked me to open it... The waitress forgot us and she brang wrong drinks with 45 minutes of delay. Moreover, there are only 5 types of fish dishes on the menu. We ordered 2 squids. The waitress said that they had only one squid. So we ordered one squid and one swordfish. Afterwards she came back saying that the swordfish was finished (but everybody after us got the swordfish without problems)... So we changed again the order (the choice was forced since there were only other 2 dishes in the menu). We received our food one hour later after our complaints... Then we asked for the bill and with surprise they don't accept credit cards... But only cash (during covid pandemic time...) The saddest thing is that we were not the only unlucky persons... All the foreign people were in the same condition, except local people... And, for being in algarve, is very expensive... Além disso, existem apenas 5 tipos de pratos de peixe no menu. Pedimos 2 lulas. A garçonete disse que eles tinham apenas uma lula. Então pedimos uma lula e um peixe-espada. Depois ela voltou dizendo que o peixe-espada estava acabado (mas todos depois de nós pegaram o peixe-espada sem problemas). Então mudamos novamente o pedido (a escolha foi forçada pois só havia outros 2 pratos no cardápio). Recebemos nossa comida uma hora depois, após nossas reclamações. . . Aí pedimos a conta e com surpresa eles não aceitam cartão de crédito... Mas só dinheiro (em época de pandemia cobiçosa...) O mais triste é que não fomos os únicos azarados... Todos os estrangeiros estavam na mesma condição, exceto os locais... E, por estar no Algarve, é muito caro... Não voltarei mais aqui na minha vida

  Very very poor experience. 45min wait on our food and this was the plate I received. This was swordfish, which honestly was not unpleasant however I couldn’t taste the fish for so much sauce.   Food was really nice, so were the staff, but the staff were very forgetful which is why this was only a 3 star experience. If you asked for anything (e.g. drinks, Bill, etc) you would have to ask twice for it and/or wait for at least half an hour to actuslly be brought it. The restaurant is in a central location on the Praia Da Rocha with excellent views of the beach from where we were eating. It took one full hour (not an estimation, watch checked) from seating to the arrival of the dishes. If this waiting time is expected, I prefer to be warned in advance.
