  This restaurant caught our attention while walking past due to its look, feel and breathtaking location. Luckily, the lady who initially showed us the menu said she could fit us in for lunch on their outside terrace, so we took it. Very glad we did, as the food, the wine, and the engaging service were all terrific. They were also happy to go off-menu as a favour when we requested a little cheese with our red wine (instead of having a desert from the menu) and the chef prepared us a delicious cheese platter which was much appreciated. The clean well-stocked box of condiments brought to the table at the start of the meal is also a nice touch. Obrigado to all who work at this restaurant!   I remember my first visit to BJs: walking down a dusty track, alongside a lagoon, and discovering a secret beach restaurant straight out of paradise!! Since then, I have visited BJs for many years. The staff have always been FRIENDLY, the food excellent, and the atmosphere laid back and casual. The new breakfast menu is superb.   We were told about BJ’s from the guy we rented our bikes from. We really loved this little place. The staff are so friendly and the food is great. Sitting outside in the warm winter sunshine was so nice. And to top it off we watched dolphins playing in the sea. Totally recommend the Bex Salad, so delicious. And the Double Cheeseburger.   I don't really get the hype if I'm honest. Had a nice time and enjoyed my meal but.... It's quite a run down old school shack that looks like it should sell €10 burgers but instead everything is priced at least double what it would be anywhere else. It's also on a strip of beach not near anything else. Music was okay, enjoyed it. The reviews seems to make it out like this is the best place on earth.   I had a burger which was too big. I d o not remember reading that it was a double burger...in fact the meal was big enough for 2 people. A consequence of this was that half was wasted. But my major gripe is that we were attacked by flying ants....dozens of them falling on us and into our food. Not pleasant...and I would have thought that it was an opportunity for the boss or the manager to apologise and placate us..instead it was left to the waitresses to make light of it.   I was there the other day. It was so good I went back the following day. Even though there was a wedding on the 1st day they managed to give us a table.   Very rude. Only if you want food and with reservation. Okay so first of all, when we arrived you offered us a seat and said we could have that for 1.5 hours. So I really have a hard time understand how anything you write here makes sense. Only after we said we only wanted drinks, you offered us a „seat“ in the sun, and said no without reservation. So I get it, we are not the kind of customer you wanted, you care about the money I get it. I don’t know why you accuse me of „rolling my eyes“ I certainly didn’t as you weren’t even talking to me lol. And after looking at other 1-star reviews, your responses speak for themselves, as you are clearly incapable of receiving negative feedback. Speaking badly about the customer instead of apologizing, that’s just sad. I really just wanted to enjoy a drink on my vacation at your place it was really nice there but personally I think you can learn something about customers service. Have a good day.   Fantastic beach bar and restaurant, located about a 45 min walk from the marina. Perfect place for a snack or even a nice meal, as they have several different eating areas. You can even book sunbeds and get food and drink delivered straight to your bed in the beach. Food is a little pricey, but we all felt that the quality and portion sizes justified it. The service was great by all of the team. The couvert was great, as was the peri peri chicken. They even had live music on in the afternoon.   Had lunch today. We shared a large Seabass. It was cooked perfectly. The waiter took it off the bone and did a good job, never easy when being watched. All the waiters are very pleasant and efficient. One of the waiters is named Annie.   My wife and I called in while walking along the beach front and decided to stop for lunch. My wife ordered Seabass (£24) which came with fries and salad. I ordered Giant King prawns (£49) which came with rice and salad. The Seabass was tasty and flaky, however, while the prawns were tasty, they were also quite rubbery which was disappointing.   Had a really great afternoon here, party of ten celebrating a birthday. Food was fresh, tasty and what a great atmosphere. Live music while you dine and a great location right in the beach...   We've been to BJ's many times over the years and always loved it. Amazing location, great food and fabulous atmosphere. The live music with the excellent Ricardo is always great fun too (although they don't have music every day). Definitely a must-visit if in the Quarteira vicinity.   We absolutely loved BJ’s! Had lunch there twice during our holiday and it was fab both times. Delicious food and super friendly staff. We had our young children with us and they were incredibly accommodating. The dressing up box was a big hit! We’ll definitely be back when we’re next in Portugal.   I was here yesterday with my dad and we had the most pleasant experience it made the day worth it. The food was delicious, freshly cooked and the staff were great, couldn’t have been more attentive. The live music was a plus and was really lovely to have in the background, it wasn’t loud just perfect. All the staff spoke English and Portuguese. The food didn’t take long and the location is just perfect. They also brought a bucket of water with ice for our dog and we didn’t have to ask. Thank you for a lovely lunch!   This is one of the best restaurants I have visited in the algarve. The literal beach front location is incredible. The live music which is sometimes there was lots of fun - it got a little rowdy towards the end with people joining in on the anthems but it was enjoyable. The staff are all incredibly friendly and seem to legitimately enjoy working there. Food is also great - predominantly sea food but a few other dishes (such as thai green curry). Really couldnt fault the food I had which was a squid starter and prawn main. A good wine selection too. If you are looking for great, fresh seafood dining on the beach this place is a must try.   A great place to get fish and seafood. They've an amazing starter plate with hummus and tuna mayonnaise which I'd highly recommend. We had the sea beam for 2 people and it was very delicious. There's live music on every Sunday and Wednesday, and apparently this is when the place and the beach are full of people partying. If you can I would recommend visiting the place on one of these days as then you'll get to enjoy the buzz of the place.   Extremely overpriced place with unbelievably rude service. The local staff were friendly and nice, however they only occupy support jobs while waiters are British nationals.   So glad to have finally made it to BJ's Oceanside after hearing so much about it over the years. It certainly stood up to all the hype and I wish I'd taken photos of the food as the fish was as stunning as the views were to die for. The sole I had was probably the best I'd ever had! All the food was delicious, the squid was perfect and the burgers were so juicy. All set in a perfect beach side "shack" with sun shaded decking, such hospitable staff and great live music to top it off. Best place to go in the south of Portugal for some Oceanside dining. Massive thanks to Bex, J and their amazing staff for a lovely lunch. Can't wait to return!   The atmosphere, with live music, top notch cuisine and right on Almargem beach, with its golden sands and bluest ocean. Fresh fish daily and a host of catch of the day, dishes all around the €25 euro mark, not the cheapest, but the quality and presentation was great. Fresh veg and salads completed the meal. Al fresco dining but a choice of sun and shade and sun screens to keep you shaded as the sun moves round. The waiting staff, young and eager to please. Spoke several languages. Fast efficient service. Good for couples parties and families. A dressing up chest for the children( and some adults to use). As I say mid priced. Many drinks, starters, mains and desserts was around€70 a couple, the table was ours from lunch til 5 , when they prep for evening. One of my favourites to take guests.   We stopped here for shelter from the rain and wind while walking along the beach today. The place is very well done out, all the little quotes on the wall are lovely. The decor is great, staff all very friendly and accommodating. Food looked good on other tables, we only had some nibbles - which were very good too.   Food was brilliant. The fish dishes seem to change daily as the fish and the meat dishes are always on top form. Great views of the beach. The beach is massive and has perfect golden sand. Possible a nice walk from Quartaria. One thing you need to know is to book in advance, I mean two weeks in advance, this place is very popular at lunchtimes. Would highly recommend.   My favourite place for lunch in the whole of Portugal. I always eat too much and drink too much. Then shake it all off with a swim in the sea after a great afternoon. BJ's have great staff who are very attentive and friendly - been the chef is a laugh when he shows his face. You must must book in the summer though. Also ask to sit by the sea for the best view.   We had lunch there. Great setting. Asked our waiter what he would recommend on the lighter side as all the food looked fabulous but did not want a big meal. He recommended the chicken livers. was superb. Wish I could remember his name as he was outstanding. in fact so was all the staff. they are not open in the evenings as yet or we would have returned for dinner one night.   Great location. Pricing on the menus was high, due it's the location probably. Staff were slow to serve or even bring menus even though it wasn't busy, so we left after a drink and didn't eat due to the slow service. Live music as well.   Disappointed after visiting BJ’s with the family this evening. The restaurant enjoys an enviably idyllic position on the beach with views over the ocean and the food was fairly good: the pitta came with tasty hummus and tuna, the fish cakes were nice, the sea bream was moist (but pretty small) and the burger was impressive. However, the service was very poor and spoiled the overall experience. I had to chase up my first drink and our starters after waiting for more than half an hour (we weren't charged for the €6 pitta). Our daughter's sausage and chips arrived very quickly after the starters but had to wait a further 15 minutes for the other mains. I asked for a second drink but it never arrived - but, to be honest, I'd given up by that time. Desserts did come out pretty quickly….and the bill appeared instantly!
