  I agree with "Honest Opinion," whose review is below. The food is not the freshest. Many short cuts are used. The chicken was part tender and part dried out and "hard". The prawns were too firm, indicating frozen. The two desserts we ordered were diabolical. One small pre-cooked crepe with cheap ice cream €9!! One lemon merangue pie which had seen better days (too many we felt). Squirty cream substitute rounded off both. They brought the wrong dessert even though the bill showed the right one! This place is obviously trying to get back what it lost during covid at the current customers' expense. Haven and Salmora are both much, much better for similar money.   The staff is the best I’ve ever seen. They know how to serve and please the customers. The food was so delicious and mind-blowing tasty, we had bacalhao, beef steak and some salads, and they were absolutely tip-top. Actually the day I’ve visited the resto was my b-day and they really made my day. I recommend you to go and feel the hospitality of this top resto. Trust me, you will like it.   Would not recommend this restaurant. We had been here before and enjoyed it so had no doubts about returning. We ordered steak (medium, rare), fried prawns and stuffed mushrooms. The steak was well under cooked but had no juice(which was obviously odd). The taste was appalling as if the food was out of date or undercooked. When you bit into the prawns they were like mushy peas. We obviously were still hungry but didn't want the food. The customer service was appalling.   This is the worse meal we have ever had in Vilamoura marina. We ordered two fillet steaks which were so tough we could hardly get the knife through. We sent them back and the waiter agreed to charge us only for the drinks. Then another guy came over with the bill and said we had to pay for one . We refused and he said he would call the police !! Being in a foreign country we didn't want that so we paid and left. We will never eat there again If you want. steak MARE steakhouse will do it properly.   Service was shocking! Waiter got my meal completely wrong, I was ok with that mistakes happen. When he finally brought over my correct meal 25 mins later ( so now everyone else in my party has finished ) the Lamb was raw all the way through, sure it still had a heart beat!! I told them don’t worry about my meal, I don’t want to wait any longer just take it off the bill which they REFUSED to do as I had cut the meat open!? Was they going to re use that piece of meat for someone else? I explained I don’t want to eat now as I don’t want the rest of my family to sit and wait any longer. Totally un reasonable. No sorry nothing, they said if we gave everyone back their money because they don’t like the food they would be out of business.   Gorgeous food, gorgeous wine, gorgeous setting. We ordered Portuguese steak and the XL burger with truffle essence, both were absolutely delicious. The wine was so nice that we returned a few days later at lunch time to share a bottle in the shade. The service was fab, and the for the quality of meal we had the bill was very reasonable.   The restaurant is definitely one of the better ones around the marina and if you are there for a holiday then I definitely recommend that you stop here for dinner one night! The food here is pretty good food, i have always got the meatballs and although their pasta may not be the best on the marina it is still pretty good and the meatballs are good. My cocktail was pretty good too and well presented.   Okay now wasn’t this amazing. I had the fillet steak and it was cooked perfectly absolutely incredible. And the country potatoes were incredibly crispy and amazing. I would say a bit pricey but 100% worth it.   Avoid if you are a foodie.... It was nice to sit by the marina while the sun was setting, but we didn't rate the food at all. The prawns arrived before our drinks.. which was a red flag... they were ok but expensive for 6 prawns - I have had way better and I know that prawns don't take long to cook, but the restaurant was busy and their VERY prompt arrival indicated that perhaps they weren't so fresh. My main was just atrocious. I ordered the monkfish and was really disappointed, no taste to it at all really, served with what seemed like microwave rice and the two large prawns were so hard and overcooked. I mentioned this to our server, and they did bring 2 "fresh" prawns, but they were just as hard and seemed that they too had been microwaved.   I've been to the Mayflower on many occasions and have always had a lovely meal. Tonight however, was most disappointing. We were quickly seated and the service was good all evening. The food was the big let down. I had a prawn cocktail to start which was average at best. It was served in a hollowed out papaya which had a puddle of juice underneath the prawns leaving the lettuce soaked through. For my main course I ordered the Mayflower Fillet Steak. I have never seen a steak cooked like this before. I ordered Medium and it came in a variety of doneness ranging from Blue to Very Well Done and in strange places. It was horrible to eat. My wife's meal was only average also. There are many other options around I would not visit this place again.   Summary: avoid this place and go to news, bad service, overpriced and overcooked food. Very very poor service - I asked for a different sauce with my dish (the mayflower special sauce with the surf and turf) and they would not do this for some reason, which is a very very basic request when compared to NEWS and they constantly push the €3.50 three pepper sauce, steak ordered medium rare and it was way over cooked(well done) and when this was raised to staff they didn’t even flinch or apologies, we are here for months with family coming and going throughout our stay, 20+ people in total for the summer and this place will be avoided at all cost..!!   2pm, restaurant was empty inside and we wanted to be in the shade. We asked to sit inside which they were reluctant to do. Then they tried seating us on the end row(effectivly outside), then they were not happy when we requested a seat well inside. Not sure why this was such a problem. Anyway, I ordered Penne Carbonara which the menu stated was egg yolk and parmesan - the correct ingrediants - however, the plate was just a mush if cream and cheap bacon, unseasoned, and had tarracën through it. It tasted awful.2 hours later I'm in bed with terrible stomach pains and diaoriha. Its now 9am next morning and I sm still unwell. Awful service, awful food and awful hygene standards.   Food was atrociously bad. Was not fresh at all. Service was also very poor. Waiting half a hour for starters and our mains all came at different times. Forgot one of our side dishes too. They didn’t even clean our table in between courses. We had to ask for cutlery and napkins once our food came. Completely overpriced for the bad quality and service.   Great food. Service was a bit poor. I had beef stoganoff - great. Never got a wine menu which we asked for. Never got asked or approached to see if everything was ok after main food was served.   Came here for new years eve in group of 6 after a recommendation from a friend. Lovely setting in Marina, but what a mistake. We confirmed our reservation with a €150 deposit on Wednesday. A short menu was on offer, understandable for a fully booked restaurant on New Years eve. Also with set wines which was a bit odd. We ordered 2 beers and sent them back as they smelt off, amazing these days given all the additives. Two bottles of white wine at €55 each for the driest white. Food arrived promptly, carapaccio of beef tasted like water with zero seasoning. Sea Bass fillet for main, again no seasoning and a sauce of unknown origin. Disappointed, we only ordered desert for one and no coffee. Bill came up at €490. After checking we found the deposit hadn't been credited. Then we had to argue for our complimentary sparkling wine served at The Brewery because we hadn't had our receipt stamped....! Luckily a waiter recognized us and he spoke to his supervisor. Annoyingly, it was one bottle per booking so not sure how that went down for the table of 18 next to us. Staff were really helpful throughout to be fair. Then one of our group was ill, the only one who had prawns to start. Really disappointed. Worst New Years dining experience ever. The food was very good but each time we were very much over charged first time we noticed €60 and tonight over €95 when we ask to check the bill twice it still was not right with drinks that were not at our table.   AVOID AT ALL COSTS - MISLABELLED ALLERGENS! The worst experience in a restaurant I have ever had. I told the waiter about my severe nut allergy before ordering and he told me to check the symbols on the menu which I had (nothing I had ordered had nuts in according to the menu). The food arrived and whilst eating, I found cashew nuts in the dish. We called over the manager who couldn't care less about the fact I was having an allergic reaction, he simply laughed and took the plates away. We then rushed out to get to a hospital and the manager followed us out with a bill and tried to force us to pay despite the issue being their fault. The owner then came out and told us to get away from his restaurant. I have since emailed the Mayflower to resolve this issue and they're ignoring me. This Indian guy came over and typed in 259 euros in the machine while the other guy was distracting me with jokes. This was not a mistake but a planned scam.   Lovely location right in the harbour they have tables inside and outside. We wished we had gone for an indoor seat as it was quite breezy the night we were there. It would have been really lovely if they had been able to offer blankets to keep us warm we would have stayed a lot longer of that had been the case when we asked if they had any we were told to try the supermarket. I would say of all the places we ate whilst in villamoura this was our least favourite the food although sounded great from the description was a little underwelming.   I had octopus and my friend had a Portuguese steak. The steak was supposed to be medium rare but it came well done. My octopus was cooked very nicely, smooth and soft but unfortunately it was a little bit tasteless and it lacked character and quantity. Presentation and service was good, for that 3 stars but the chef needs to know how to properly cook a steak and maybe some knowledge of Portuguese cuisine as it shows a lack of it. Aspect 4, Content 3, Plate 2 (when you ask for a fish food, you expect your plate pre heated for the price involved), Palate 3 (chef makes an effort of churning out his food at adequate rhythm but each plate should be a work of art, he tried, but his staff did not live up to his standards).   The restaurant looks good and is in a prime location on the marina, the food and the service certainly don't match how the place looks. The food is very normal and was pretty much cold when it was served. I also witnessed customers leaving without eating as they had waited to be served for so long. Loads better restaurants to go to than this.   What a amazing restaurant, lovely views over the marina, staff are extremely friendly, you’ll pay a little more for the food but it is definitely worth it. It gets very busy from about 20.00 so I’d recommend getting their earlier as the staff become rushed off their feet. All round a fantastic meal and would highly recommend going.   Ordered lamb and prawns with rosti. When it came the rosti was stone cold. Sent the food back and when it came it was the same food reheated. Tried to explain how you should not reheat seafood and that fresh should have been served. Was just told 'what is the chef supposed to do throw it away we would loose money' .   Good food but not the best in vilamoura, the location overcomes this though, especially outside on the jetty. Great for large parties, I've spent many a golf trip in here, big round tables and you can be a little noisy as it is buzzing in the evening. As mentioned not the best resturant in the area, but worth going if you are visiting the marina more than once and certainly would recommend if a large golfing/stag/hen party. Ótimo para festas grandes, já passei muitas viagens de golfe aqui, grandes mesas redondas e você pode ser um pouco barulhento, pois é movimentado à noite.   Like other reviews have said, the restaurants location is lovely, really lovely in fact - especially if you are outside on a table at the edge of the marina. But the food is just OK for my liking. There's nothing amazing about what we had, and it just felt a little expensive for what it was. 2 starters, 2 mains and 2 drinks was nearly €80. I had prawn cocktail which was nice, and to be fair the bruschetta my wife had was also a good size and fresh. The beef stroganoff had nice pieces of shredded beef in it but seemed like there was far more mushroom than beef in it. The big let down was the grilled chicken and vegetables my wife had. It looked and tasted like 2 thin fillets of unseasoned chicken with broccoli and potatoes- really lacking in imagination and flavour. Nothing about the meal was bad but I think I would try other places along the Marina next time rather than going back.   Highly recommend the Mayflower, good food, great Portugese wine and excellant staff. Either indoors or out on the deck this restaurant is hard to beat.Also try, the My Thai next door and The Brewery (Irish Bar) as these are also owned by the same people, you won't need to eat anywhere else in Vilamoura (Traduzido pelo Google) Recomendo o Mayflower, boa comida, excelente vinho português e excelente equipe. Seja no interior ou no deck, este restaurante é difícil de bater.
