  Everything was absolutely amazing BUT I asked for salt for my chips and they didn't mention there was a fee. They brought out a bowl of salt (way too much for one person to consume with a standard portion of chips) and when the bill came they had charged us €4.50 for that bowl of salt. I assumed they would have a salt and pepper shaker handy like almost every restaurant ever.   The food was very nice, service was very good but to see €4.50 on the bill for salt is disappointing. I understand being charged separately for each sauce, but this is the first time I’ve ever seen salt on a bill.   Delicious food and cocktails. We had a gorgeous evening in Rare this week. The beef tagliatelle was one of the best pasta dishes I’ve ever eaten.   After a day on the beach we were peckish, as soon as we walk past Rare, the steak smells made us hungry. We checked the other places to eat but this place aesthetics was was incredible. We went in and the staff was incredibly polite. We ordered cocktails and they were delicious. The share platers, the fire chorizo and the oysters was so incredible I was in heaven. I would 100% definitely recommend to everyone and would definitely come back here again.   If you're looking for a place to have decent steak in Vilamoura this has to be one of the spots to chose from. This restaurant has a brilliant menu with options for everyone. We shared two starters and then shared the Rare Board for 2 which came with a Fillet, Rib Eye and Rump Cap at good value. The food was exceptional and really good portion sizes, you certainly won't leave hungry! The service was good although we felt a little rushed, we were gone within an hour! The restaurant is also quite noisy so maybe not the place for a romantic meal. We would definitely return though.   I was looking forward to dinner at this restaurant for my 60th birthday as I had eaten there many times before and found it to be fantastic.. We booked at table for 7 people indoors ..When we turned up we were told inside was full and had to sit outside it was a cold and windy evening so very disappointed we were questioned as if we we're not telling the truth which is not exceptable.. We asked how long a table would be inside bearing in mind we had pre booked .. We were told atleast 1 and a half-hours .. I found this to be unsatisfactory so we left and ate at another steak restaurant.. Very disappointed with the outcome the staff didn't really seem to try and resolve the problem. This spoilt my evening and can't return to a restaurant that treats its customers in this way ...   First time to Vilamoura and we decided to go with the restaurant with the best reviews. It was so busy, we had to come back an hour later, that was perfect for us, so I would recommend booking if you don’t want to wait an hour. Food was fantastic, oysters, steak and red wine. Good service, although check the bill when they bring it out on an iPad, the couple next to us had two things they didn’t order on theirs, and we had cheesecake and coffee that we didn’t order on ours. Sure is just a computer mistake, as was so busy, but just check. Great time, definitely recommend.   By far the best restaurant on the marina imo , and not too dear!.. Sublime Portuguese Sauvignon blanc at the perfect temperature to kick things off. Succulent steak and divine tagliatelle with beef in a creamy sauce was had… literally could not stop eating. The friendliest most helpful of staff as well as spectacular surrounds made for a wonderful atmosphere. We shall be returning promptly.   Amazing atmosphere & dining experience, with even better service! We were served by John who was incredible, he was on top of everything and made sure we had whatever we needed as soon as we asked/ordered. With drinks coming out moments after ordering. My partner and I both had the beef croquettes and fillet steak which were cooked to perfection!!   Went here for the first time over the weekend. Walked in and it was a nice atmosphere and it was busy which was a good sign. Service was spot on and the food was even better. Fried prawns to start was great and the fillet steak was even better. Dont usually eat out in Vilamoura but will defintely be coming back to Rare.   Staff here are super helpful and friendly. The food was DELICIOUS! I had the fillet steak, garlic mushrooms and my other half had the new york one, both were so good! The kitchen were also happy to change the cheesecake dessert a bit cater for to our preferences which was great. Definitely recommend!   Beautiful food but service and deception from one of the servers wasn’t good. Ordered 2x filet steaks and he said it’s an extra €10 for a flat iron with better flavours. When it came to pay it wasn’t just €10 it was €10 each extra so it was €56 for the flat iron and €27 for the filet. Don’t like being deceived so be careful when they pedal the extra stuff.   Absolutely amazing food! Amazing service and amazing drinks! Sat overlooking the marina whilst tucking into our steaks 😍 our waiter was very nice and polite, they even poured out water into our glasses and then when they seen it was empty they come and refill them!   Whenever we passed the restaurant it was always busy so thought we'd try it for ourselves. We were seated overlooking the kitchen area it was great to see the chefs work so well together all knew the job they had to do and did it well. The 2 girls(twins) on the starter courses were amazing We could have sat and watched them all night. The service staff were very attentive and again knew exactly what they were doing. The whole place ran like clockwork which was very pleasing to see. Would highly recommend this restaurant if you are in Vilamoura marina well worth a visit. Its a bit expensive but worth every penny.   Had dinner here twice. Both times they are extremely busy so probably best to book at peak times. The first time we came we didn't have a booking and as we wanted to sit inside they told us it would be about 30mins, we left our number and went for a walk.   Just had a great meal to celebrate my son’s birthday. I think this is the best meal I’ve had in Vilamoura in the 20 years I’ve been visiting. We had bread, tiger prawns and chorizo to start, followed by a rib-eye, a fillet and a picanha with a selection of sides and a great bottle of Portuguese Dao. Now I’ve read some pretty dodgy reviews on here and on TripAdvisor and all I can think is that they were very unlucky or maybe just confused. We went at 7pm on Saturday and had booked a table. They were busy. We were not rushed, the service was excellent and the food was top class. Perfectly cooked, well seasoned and we were all well satisfied. Fabulous evening. Highly recommended.   Nice location directly on the harbour. Very modern and staff speak English very well. However the food is rather below average. Especially the burger was tasteless and the bread as well as the meat very dry. Staff said, that they currently have a problem with their burgers?! Steak was ok, not great.   Went there with high expectations, enjoyed an octopus dish together with a platter of steak for two. The octopus was really good but as a steakhouse I expected way more from the meats. It was tender and juicy yet underseasoned and the fillet was quite chewy.   Friends of ours invited us here the night after eating steak at Pepper steak restaurant which we thought couldn’t be beaten. We were wrong. This is the best steak we have experienced in portugal. The restaurant doesn’t look much from the outside, however the interior, service, food quality and atmosphere really makes up for that. We had a bottle of white (quinta da pedra) and a bottle of red (can’t remember the name!) but both were superb. Thanks again, will be back.   It should've been called "medium" steakhouse, as the food and service wasn't rare (well, maybe in the way that it was nearly nonexistent), nor was it well-done. Visited for lunch, restaurant near empty, yet I had to go in myself to get a waiter (5 staff, all more busy with their phones than customers). After a while I finally got my food, which was slightly better than regular fast food, but should in no way be aligned with a steakhouse. Meat was dry, even though it looked medium/rare. Best part of the meal was actually the onion rings, which kind of says it all. Drinks were okay though (hence the second star, instead of just one). Then, of course, I had to go in myself to request the bill, and when presented, they tried to guilt trip me into giving a tip... First I paid the bill, then got the: " usually, there's 10% added towards it, would you like to pay this by card or cash?". I just feigned being a dumb tourist and not understanding what was meant, but for mediocre food and horrible service there's a snowball's chance in hell that I will ever pay anything more than the bill, actually I should've gotten a discount, as I did most of the "service" part myself. Don't believe the 5 star reviews here, it's probably from people who never actually ate here.   I just dont know where to start with this place the staff and service were just outstanding and despite being packed out to the max the whole place just ran like clock work. And literally the whole of our party of 6 agreed that this place provided the most incredible steaks any if us had ever had anywhere.   From the moment we were shown to our bar stool table it was an experience...I could have watched the chefs at work all night with their precision prepping of customers food, the passion they showed in cooking and how well they worked as a team. The waiters and waitresses were so attentive pouring our water and wine before we even realised they needed topping up. A little couvert of the traditional bread olives and chorizo was accepted and eaten followed by our chosen T-bone Angus steak, garlic mushrooms, peppercorn sauce and french fries. This was all washed down with a bottle of to die for Colinas Reserva Tinto...Oh and not forgetting the lemon meringue and original cheesecake we had to have as a dessert (wouldn’t normally have a dessert) A fabulous well ran, well oiled establishment that is well worth the visit and one we will be returning to at any given opportunity...   Visited this restaurant twice on our holiday, food and service are great Lovely starters followed by very nice steak. We had the 3 steak board for two people, there was loads. Only negative point which is valuable if like me you don't like goats cheese (food of the devil) Ordered the macaroni cheese, looked fantastic however on my first large mouthful discovered it had goats cheese in it.   Just had a week in Vilamoura, we dined 4 nights out of seven at the Rare Steakhouse. It got progressively better on each visit, starting from very good and then excellent. Been coming to Portugal for 32 years & without doubt the best steaks I have eaten here. A real quality service to go with it to.
