  Food is okay but nothing exceptional compared to other restaurants on the island, find it very expensive for the quality. Takes a long time to be served ( around 30 minutes), we have had a small bottle of wine but were charged as a large one. I won't come back there again.   While fresh fish is good and service is friendly, some dishes are low in quality and totally overpriced - such as Prawns in Garlic Sauce, a starter for 15€, small frozen prawns are used. 👎🏼 Especially comparing to other seafood restaurants on the island a major disappointment. Sides are always boiled potatoes, oven baked sweet potatoes and steamed frozen vegetable mix - mostly overcooked and soggy.   It was great. We went there twice and everything we ate was delicious! The service was extremely accommodating. We were offered little things to accompany various dishes (e.g. cinnamon to ice cream). And all the food was more than worth its price. We had the most expensive starter twice, three main courses, three desserts and plenty to drink for less than 40 euros per person. We still recommend making a reservation to get a quiet spot.   My family and I had just gotten to our rental. After settling in, we were starving. We took a 5-10 min walk straight down the street to O Silva’s. It’s beautiful inside. White interior with warm wood. We all started with the cheese plate app. I believe there was 3 cheeses. It was a good app. I got the bacalhau dish (1st photo doesn’t do it justice because there’s a ton of caramelized onions on top of the cod). It was THE BEST cod dish I’ve ever had and I’m from New England. No kidding. It was cooked perfectly. Seared perfectly. The skin was perfectly seared. Crispy skin. The meat was flaky. Cooked in a garlicky butter. The potatoes weren’t quite sweet potatoes but they were sweet, but not too sweet. I ate them like locals - a bit of vinegar and piri piri sauce. It enhanced the flavor of the potatoes. It was so good that we back 2 other times. I ordered the bacalhau again. Other members of my family ordered it too. It was just as good as the first time I had it. The 3rd time we went I tried another dish, but wasn’t as memorable as the cod dish. It was the boca negra fish dish (2nd photo). It was good, but the cod gripped my heart. The only word of caution I have is to double check your receipt. Only happened the 1st time. A carne estava escamosa. Cozido em manteiga com alho. As batatas não eram exatamente batatas doces, mas eram doces, mas não muito doces. Comi-os como os locais - um pouco de vinagre e molho piri piri. Melhorou o sabor das batatas. Foi tão bom que voltamos outras 2 vezes. Pedi novamente o bacalhau. Outros membros da minha família também encomendaram. Foi tão bom quanto da primeira vez que o tive. Na terceira vez que fomos experimentei outro prato, mas não foi tão memorável quanto o prato de bacalhau. Era o prato de peixe boca negra (2ª foto). Foi bom, mas o bacalhau tomou conta do meu coração. A única palavra de cautela que tenho é verificar novamente o seu recibo. Só aconteceu a 1ª vez.

  I went with my wife and daughter. We were greeted as if we were longtime customers, Mr. Silva made sure we felt at home. We had limpets and barnacles for starters, the barnacles were very fresh, of the day, the limpets very tasty. After the starters, we had grouper rice, a specialty of the house and i can understand why, was divine!!! To accompany we drank a white wine from the region, Barrocas do mar, recommended by the guy who served us, so good! Finally we ordered bean pudding, chocolate pudding and molotov for dessert, as it couldn't be otherwise, they were divine, I didn't ask but I'm sure they were homemade. Note the pride in the restaurant, the fish showcase was impeccable, the aquarium as well and the highly helpful and extremely friendly staff. What an experience! Whenever i come to São Miguel, O Silva will be a mandatory stop. Lots of love to all the staff, thank you!!   Good food, good priced! I had the grilled squid and it exceeded my expectations both in flavour and in texture. It is chewy but not in a bad way. Bonus that it came with some greens!! My partner had the grilled octopus and the sauce was delicious. I found the octopus to be a bit too soft for my liking (soft as in almost mushy, not tender), but I think this may be my personal preference. Because it was soft, i felt it was slightly dry as well, but the sauce made up for this. For dessert we had their home made ice cream. It looked very underwhelming to be honest, but the taste was surprisingly good! It was thick, creamy, milky and just the right amount of sweetness. It seems like a neighbourhood favourite as there it was getting busy as we were leaving (we booked a reservation for 7pm on a saturday). They have a very spacious dining area, however I would recommend booking a table just in case. They do not have online booking abilities and I emailed the restaurant owner to secure my table (response time ~24h). Parking was along the street (public parking, no designated lot or spaces) but you should be able to find parking around (free). (Traduzido pelo Google) Boa comida, bom preço! Parece um favorito do bairro, pois estava ficando ocupado quando estávamos saindo (reservamos uma reserva para as 19h de um sábado). Eles têm uma área de jantar muito espaçosa, mas eu recomendaria reservar uma mesa para garantir. Eles não têm capacidade de reserva on-line e enviei um e-mail ao proprietário do restaurante para garantir minha mesa (tempo de resposta ~ 24 horas). O estacionamento ficava ao longo da rua (estacionamento público, sem estacionamento ou vagas designadas), mas você deveria conseguir encontrar estacionamento ao redor (gratuito).

  Probably the largest local restaurant. Service is slow (due to the size of the place) but very friendly. Really good food made from local fish, meat and produce.   This is a really good restaurant on the north coast of the island. The food was delicious and the waiters really friendly. We started with the grilles mussels and soup fo the day. The mussels were good and really big and meaty. For main we tried the beef fillet steak with the Silva sauce; it came with fries (and loaaads of garlic). It was amazing! I don't know what that sauce contains but at the end of my meal there was none left. One of the best traditional steaks that I had while being here. In the end we had some dessert. The bean pudding (pudim de feijao) was quite interesting. I definitely recommend this restaurant! A bit further away from the city centre but really good food.   One of my favorite restaurants in the island. I come here every year to eat their Arroz de Cherne and it never disappoints. Always ask to have it with limão galego and your taste buds will thank you :) Desserts are correct and adapted to local flavours and traditions.   First when I saw this restaurant with good reviews, I thought I made the right choice, but it’s really disappointed decision to come here for dinner. I ordered fish soup as starter and fried shrimp as main dish but they brought the fried shrimp first, the fish soup was brought to me when I reminded them after the shrimp was finished. The fried shrimp costs 14.5 euro for really small portion (as you can see in the picture) and it didn’t taste good with full of oil. I have been to few restaurants on the island and this is the worst restaurant I have visited in this island.   We went there for lunch today because we saw that they had vegetarian and vegan lunch options. We had feijoada (bean stew) which was vegan and vegetables à bras (Portuguese dish of cooked veggies) which normally has eggs but we got a vegan version. We werent expecting much given that we were in a small town and Azores isnt particularly vegetarian-friendly, but both dishes, especially the legumes à bras, were exceptional! The staff were all so nice and service was fast. Restaurant was trendy but affordable. Good selection of local wines! Will go again :).   Food and service outstanding. Very fresh and tasty flavours on each of our plates. I had the bean stew which arrived in its own pot with rice - I had to take some home, there was so much. Chorizo on fire was fun and had just enough char flavour. The regional nice was very tender and delicious. The sides were just as tasty as the mains, which to me, is a true sign that the kitchen knows what they are doing, rather than throwing overcooked frozen vegetables on the plate as a lazy attempt at a balanced meal (a la Restaurante da Associacao Agricola de Sao Miguel). Our server did not speak English but we managed very well (thanks Google Translate) but his young co-worker spoke excellent English and our overall experience was of the utmost professionalism, kindness and fun.   Newly refurbished restaurant now with contemporary style. They have been around since 1979 and have a good reputation locally. My experience was ok, the food was average, nothing special. For a less than half empty place the several waiters present took a lot of time to respond and have for two times mistaken our orders. In summary it was an average experience.   Restaurante O Silva! This place was recommended by family that live on the island and it sure did impress! It is a bit more pricey than a few of the other restaurants around but you do get what you pay for here! I had Lulas as my main in the picture. They were cooked to perfection and just melted in my mouth. They do bring soft azorian cheese, a pepper sauce dip and bread out at the start, they go so well together. And to wash it all down we had Red wine or Superbock. There is plenty to choose from on the menu and the staff are really good and funny. Great experience all round.   Really good food and not too expensive. Still more expensive than most restaurants. The first thing they do is bring soft cheese and fresh bread, which they charge you whether you eat it or not, €1.50 each. The seafood is really expensive but it's as fresh as you can get.   We tried a lot of restaurant in Sao Miguel. Restaurant O Silva, was definitely our favorite! From the time our group of 8 stepped into the restaurant we were greeted with 5 star service. It's one of those places where you can tell the management has taken the time to train their staff to make sure the customers leave happy and satisfied. We had the soup and the chorico as starters and all of it was delicious. The tuna was amazing, the bacalao was incredible and the steak according to my 13 year old was the best he had on the island. The portions are enough and come out nicely presented. The desserts were great as well.   Excellent restaurant! Especially enjoyed the seafood rice, cow tongue, and the Azorean cavaco lobster! The fish is also done right here, and we got to try barnacles which was an interesting experience. There are tanks of seafood so you know it is fresh. This is a place where the locals go.   This place has recently renovated. The Lighting is unpleasant. It reminds of a chain restaurant like McDonalds. The service was adequate but lacked attention. The steak was tasteless and there was a lack of follow up. Too bad, this used to be a local restaurant with good everyday food. The high prices don't justify it.   Silva has typical Azorean dishes and fresh fish. They have the best bread on the island! No one knows where it comes from. They recently renovated and unfortunately they covered all the original painted tiles depicting scenes from history with plaster boards, something which really characterised the place. Thumbs down. The food is enjoyable but is not consistently good. One week it's good, the next week it's microwaved chicken, disastrous molotof pudding, and rubber limpets.   I love my seafood, and this place does it right! When we came to Sao Miguel I thought there would be excellent seafood on the island, but I had been disappointed by previous meals at other restaurants highly rated by trip advisor. That is until we came to o silva. Their seafood is actually fresh and incredibly well made. The fish is grilled over an actual fire, (not pan fried like other places claiming grilled fish), yet still tender and flavourful. Along the way to the dining area, you'll see the fresh local fish that they'll be serving in short order. Everything we tried was delicious.   Tucked away down a quiet back street, this restaurant was a real find. This was a Sunday afternoon and it proved very popular with locals and well deservedly so. The staff were lovely and made us feel at home, setting up a table especially for us. It was difficult to choose for the extensive menu of local meat and fresh fish. We opted for Tuna and Grouper both served grilled with potatoes and vegetables and a prawn with bean stew, served with rice ( which we really didn't need). First though they brought fresh bread and local cheese with pimento sauce. So delicious. We washed it down with a local white wine, perhaps not the best but interesting to try. We were offered ice cream desserts from a card at the end but you could opt for home made puddings - that would be my recommendation.
