  I was really looking forward to eating at this place, but overall experience was not very good, despite very kind and professional service. Waiting in a line to get a table for 1/2hour. Food was not great as expected (possibly I didn’t make the best choice of fish) and I walked out hungry and quite disappointed. I am truly sorry and would be willing to give it a second chance if I came to Sagres again. Service was very professional and that was the best part of the experience.   If I have to sum up my experience in A Sereia it would be Phenomenal. The service was top notch with attentive wait staff that spoke a plethora of languages. The menus are also in the most spoken languages letting you choose a dish without worry. The atmosphere is wonderful with a nice view of the fishing port, adding a certain je ne sais quoi to the whole experience. The food itself was top notch. The shrimp of the house had a standout sauce that I could not get enough of. The fish was fresh and well made. Finally, although we were absolutely stuffed the dessert looked delicious.   Service was really rude & unpleasant. They didn't put customers interest first because they wanted us to continue to eat outside without protecting the 5 of us plus a baby from the RAIN. I was not expecting to be blamed for the bad decision of choosing their venue to eat, and WAS expecting when it started to rain for them make arrangements to protect us from the rain.   The fish was good but nothing exceptional, and the prices are extremely high. We had better fish elsewhere for much cheaper in other cities on the southern coast. For reference, we buy 1kg of dorade at the market for 16€ maximum, they serve it for 60€/kg. That’s excessive. The service isn’t great in the sense that they don’t warn you that some things are out of stock. Regardless of this high price, we didn’t really have a choice as to the fish we could pick. Then the salad was also finished and they brought us some boiled vegetables without asking or warning. The prices don’t match the service nor the environment.   If I only had to reccomend one restaurant in Portugal it would be this restaurant. The kindest, most helpful most passionate staff. The food was amazing, very fresh right on top of the market.   The chips were really dry and they just had ketchup bags out of fast food restarants. The Burger was small and not very tasty. The fish was quite expensive and the service were in a rush to get us out.   The prices do not match the experience. 60 EUR/kg fish can be ok (it tasted fine), but then you expect better service and setting. The current (low cost) setup needs lower prices to match a fair price to value. We did like the food, but not so different as other local restaurants we visited (which were cheaper) in Lagos or Tavira.   Restaurants like this are the reasons we are visiting Portugal!! Incredible fresh seafood, grilled on open fire right in front of you, no complex seasoning needed! We had a sole fish and two tiger prawns for 2 adults and a toddler for lunch and it was just the right amount of food. We came around 1230 and got seated almost right away. But we see people starting to line up shortly after and when we left at 2pm there were almost 10 groups waiting to be seated. So definitely come on the early side for the treat! "Fish of the day" can be inspected by yourself and then chosen to be grilled for you on charcoal outside - delicious.   This place is a real gem, the fish was so fresh and delicious. My husband had the sardines (8 chunky fishes!) and I had the Dorado. You pick your fish from the counter, they weigh it and bring it to you to check the size and price before putting on the grill. It's a really interesting setting, right in the harbour over looking the fish market. They were really busy and short staffed but the service was still great.   You would not expect that much from this place if you only look at the outside. But all the seafood come straight out of the sea and therefore super fresh. You can pick your own ‘fish of the day’ and they weigh it in front of you (we had the sea bass) so you know what to expect and get. The mussels were also incredibly delicious… everything was just great, even the crunchy french fries! You can definitely tell that these were fried in ‘fresh’ oil.   By far the best experience in the region!You choose your fresh fish from the counter which they fished in the morning, and they grill it on the terrace. The octopus salad was also incredibly tasty!   We came 40 minutes by car from our location to eat here and we weren't disappointed. It's a very busy place so be prepared to wait around an hour. But I can assure you that you won't regret it. You can have a walk around while your table is ready.   Amazing authentic seafood restaurant, forget about the other spots in town, this is good value and they BBQ the fish over a fire and serve it to you. Its quite interesting as the restaurant is overlooking a warehouse where fresh catches are brought in. Try the squid or the fresh dishes they have. The desserts are also worth a try.   I was so enamoured by my lunch today I am concerned about eating at any other restaurant as it will not be able to match this.   This restaurant is right above the fish market so the seafood here is as fresh as it gets. Appearance is deceiving and this place is much better than it looks. Portions are big and grilled fish is so fresh. They have daily specials which are usually worth a try. Waiters speak good english so no chance of otdering the wrong fish.   Wow. I like seafood but didn't realise fresh fish could be this good. Make sure to get everything fresh from the window as they will prep it spectacularly.   Fantastic fishing port restaurant. This is a typical fishermen's café, on top of the fish auction, where they also serve meals cooking fish from the harbour for you, on demand. I found this place a very cosy local place where to enjoy a meal at the same time you enjoy the harbour's lifestyle around you. The bar is on top of the harbour's fish trade market. They have windows over the auction area from where you can enjoy all the action below at the same time you enjoy a meal or a drink. The service was also superb. Most staff are 100% bilingual English & Portuguese and they are very kind at all times. The fish and squid was fantastic and also the local deserts (egg pudim or regular one) were incredibly good.   This place is amazing. It is run by three brothers and their parents. They speak perfect English and German and are the friendliest staff we have met. You will get the freshest fish here.   Visited the restaurant on July 17 for a light lunch and tried the goose barnacles and grilled Mackerel. The owner and staff were extremely nice and the food excellent. Decided today to book a lobster cataplana for tomorrow and found out they were closed for the weekend but was willing to accommodate us today for a meal at 5pm. We came back for our 5pm seating and was blown away by the fresh lobster cataplana. Absolutely delicious finished off with a wonderful fig tart.
