  Excellent food, views and service, highly recommend to all, only gave 3 stars for atmosphere as behind us 2 ladies were heavily smoking on the terrace which is all we could smell during our entire meal, otherwise all was excellent.   Nice cosy restaurant with good views on the balcony. I would recommend booking ahead if you are a group of 5 or more. Extensive wine selection in their menu but they did not seem to stock the first 3 wines we selected so we just let them choose. The market fish was a bit disappointing as they propped it up on a stone and it did not look appealing but the taste was good. The vegetarian skewers were large blocks of impossible burger and came with an incredibly sweet fruit sauce. The vegetarian steak was impossible burger wrapped in pastry with blue cheese and was a good hearty meal. The apple pie is highly recommended!   Where to begin with my review? Let’s start with the facts-we were guests of the hotel so we decided to try out the renowned restaurant. Unfortunately our expectations were opposite of ‘exceed expectations’, moreover of a restaurant in a four star hotel. We had a reservation for 7:30 and were there on time and seated straight away, that’s when the positive impressions end. We ordered straight away, with soups as a starter. The soups arrived only at 8:30 after we asked about them. In the meantime the wine was served by a waiter who couldn’t find his bottle opener and was sneezing the whole time. The terrace door was always left open by the waiters and the guests had to get up to close it. When the soups finally arrived, an hour after our order was taken, I was not so surprised to find out that the tomato soup, instead of poached egg, had a hard boiled egg inside and was not seasoned. All we were offered for our wait was some bread, a couple of minutes before the soups finally arrived-no complementary dessert or discount from the bill. Quando as sopas finalmente chegaram, uma hora depois de nosso pedido ter sido feito, não fiquei tão surpreso ao descobrir que a sopa de tomate, em vez de ovo escalfado, tinha um ovo cozido dentro e não estava temperada.   We tried the restaurant during our first evening at the hotel. Unfortunately, the restaurant disappointed and we don‘t plan trying it again during the remaining nights. The atmosphere and service were very nice, however the quality of food just mediocre. The meat was overdone: my medium duck breast was overdone to the point it became chewy and my husband fillet in pastry was medium to well done instead of medium rare. The meat lacked any juice. The only good thing was the madeira wine sauce that accompanied the duck. The price was also high compared to other local restaurants. p.s: the hotel is great, pity it does not have a restaurant at the same standard.   We arrived without reservation and they gave us table dispite seeming like they are overbooked. View is amazing, food was delicious, they do have vegan food and dessert!!!   I thought food was better than some of the Michelin recommended places in Funchal we tried and the view is too die for. I really liked the sauteed scabbard fish with passion fruit and banana, the grilled duck and the Portuguese half chicken.   We are here every night for dinner during our week long stay at the hotel. The service by Rita was excellent, and you can tell she truly loves her job. The food was delicious and it was nice to have a rotating specials menu with a vegetarian option each day.   I was dining in here at my birthday with two friends of mine and we all were delighted with the food quality! I went for the dry aged beef which was excellent!   Food was very disappointing, way to big servings, boiled and unseasoned vegetables. Fried fish served in a bath of soup souce = everything is wet and not delicious. For the prices they ask, the food presentation is not raising....   It was tasty lucnh with a view. But was ir worth all the money? Probably not. Food was average but we had better dishes at range 10-15 euros per dish. Service was good but nothing extraordinary.   The restaurant at the hotel. Great views from the veranda. The prices are a bit overpriced. We were with friends on their own recommendation. This time the service was with minor disadvantages - my son was ordered chicken soup, second course and lemonade. In the beginning they brought the second one, it turned out they forgot about the soup..... if it's still 30 minutes.... lemonade was also forgotten....brought after a reminder. Maybe there was a shift change or just a hard Monday :).... There are no complaints about food - everything is delicious, but fish soup could be better.   Outstanding food! Had some espetadas which were amazing with some delicious sides to it. As starter we had some goat and sheep cheese mix with nuts and wine sauce which were tasting wonderful together.   Nice restaurant but food was just ok, comparing to other Madeira restaurants we tasted. Especially seeing difference in prices, where you expect better quality food and service. We ordered fish soup, starter with fish and scabbard fish as main course. Food was fresh and tasty but we found fish bones in all 3 dishes (what never happened in standard quality restaurant). The waiter apologised but did nothing more with that. Plus: We enjoyed passion fruit saus (added to scabbard fish). In general restaurant is not recommended by us.   We were on a day tour with TUI. They booked us into this restaurant. I ordered a omelette & when it came it was uncooked inside just runny egg. I informed the waitress & she took it away. She returned the same meal about 10mins later with the whole thing so hot. I touched the plate & it was also very hot. The meal had probably been either been put in an oven & baked or put in a microwave for too long. The omelette was hard & rubbery & the potatoes were rock hard. I couldn't eat any of it. I spoke to another person in our group who had also ordered the omelette & he said his was runny too, so he left it as it wasn't cooked properly at all. I would not recommend this resturante because they had a chance to replace my meal & didn't. They made it worse & sent it back to me.   This restaurant is a hard to describe experience. First and foremost it is expensive and depending on what you choose, it might be a great experience. The inside of the restaurant is classic looking good, however it is dark. If you go outside you are graced with an amazing view of the north of the island. The staff is very nice and polite but the delay in serving is not nice nor expected for such a high price tag. We believe the restaurant has some specialities like the beef, tuna ou scabbard fish, however everything else will feel underserved for the value. Some dishes will make you feel they are made of cheap ingredients, and feel unflavoured, like without salt. The lapas, usually a speciality all around the island was served with burnt flavour and without any bread accompanying.   One of the best spots on the island! I saw some good and some not so good reviews, so we weren’t sure what to expect…. Let me break it down: The view: sitting outside is definitely worth it, the view was fabulous. The waves, the scent of the grill, and the sunset colors: made our decision to sit outside worth it even if it was a bit cold. The food: my friend had the tuna skewer, I had the tortellini. I think I could have just lived off the garnishing options. The French fries with their local herbs was delicious and the potatoes were soft, fresh, and not oily at all. Their lock vegetables, were soft but not too soft. Delicious. Dessert (I considered to make that a separate review): The pumpkin tatin with sage ice cream - was amazing. The sage alone might be too rich and unusual, but amazing together and so unique! My friend had the apple with ice cream - more sweet and so not my type, but also very good. Service: I think all of Madeira is a bit in island time 😂. However, they were kind, helpful, more appeasing than we even needed! … the bill took a bit, but that’s not something to complain about as we are on holiday. Attentive staff that were around.   Durfing our 14 days stay it was the worst experience. We ordered a beef medium done 1. The meet was well well well done. It was do hard we have problems to cut it. 2. The sweet potato puree was cold. 3. In such high graded restaurant the stuff bring to our table someone else's order. It happened two times during our 1 hour visit. 4. No one asked us if everything was ok with the food. For that price we expected much much more, even that the dish we ordered was recommended by the stuff (we asked for some recommendation).   I have been going to Quinta do Furão for years, since it opened. Was even a guest for a night. The view is breathtaking but service has seriously been going down. This time, when we asked about having lunch and the different menus, we were greeted by a negative attitude as if our question was bothering them. Then we decided to proceed to the restaurant, were a scene ensued to find us a table for 2, after which we were sat but no service came for 15 minutes. We informed this was unacceptable and left. For an average of 25€ the plate, for Portugal averages, this is very very poor service, showing lack of training and adequate supervision. They forgot to bring our appetizer and we waited for the food for about 40 minutes.   The Chef de Service is very attendand but the rest of the staff seems very unorganized. Many tables weren't cleared for a long time. The food is alright, freshly made with good quality ingridients but not very special. The prices are quite steep for what you are getting. I guess you pay for the absolutely stunning view.   This restaurant is clearly living of a reputation earned quite some time ago, otherwise it would not have any good reviews. The employees try their best and they’re nice, but the restaurant is clearly understaffed for the volume of clientele they get. We waited 2 hours and basically for nothing, since the food is definitely way below the standard in Madeira, let alone for what you’re paying… Really hope the travelling booklets update their information and stop recommending this place.   Have dined here several times in a row as part of our stay at the hotel, and so have tried a big section of the menu. The choice is limited, but what is there is very good and well prepared. It includes what I think are some typical and interesting Madeira dishes. We enjoyed all of them very much. Service was also very good, prompt and helpful. We came with a baby, which is always tricky, but they handled that very well.   This was honestly my best food experience on Madeira and one of my best food experience in my life. The food quality combined with breathtaking view cannot be compared to anything. At the time tabes inside were reservation only. Outside was a bit chilly, but we've got blankets from the service. I've ordered grain mushroom risotto, which was delicious, the best I have ever had. My friends ordered espada with banana, and beef wellington with inside layer of cheese. Both were mouthwatering. We finished with three different deserts, which included chocolate fondant with raspberry ice cream, cheesecake, and apple crumble. Fondant was by far the best, the rest while delicious, too sweet for us. This is the place I am coming back to when I return to Madeira. Unforgettable experience.   The restaurant is located in an old barn that has been renovated. The service is friendly and efficient. They know the courses and wines are looking to help you with the questions you have. On my side, I had the wheat soup composed of wheat, vegetables and meet. Then, i have a gloatling with a red wine sauce. Both disques were excellent. The portion itself was huge as it came with 2 sides serving (rice ans vegetables). My wife took fish with agrumes and it looked very nice as well. So far, this has been one of my best food experience in Madeira for this kind of price (~30€/pp). I would recommend it.   Nice decor restaurant in an amazing location. The view from the balcony is breathtaking but unfortunately you don't eat the view...Food is really average!!! We asked octopus with rice with squid ink. We specify asked without parsley or coriander. The octopus was very overcooked, super chewy, impossible to cut with the fish knife or to bite. The rice was tasteless and full of parsley ( left it all there).we also have to change the wine because the bottle we chose was not good, not a restaurant fault very disappointed, we came here with a lot of expectations but we have been left down.   Food was on point from begging to end. Really nice staff and the overall ambience is perfect for a memory lasting evening. The view over the North Coast facing the Atlantic Ocean just makes the whole experience come together. Definitely worth a visit even if staying in Madeira for a short period of time.   Had lunch here on a tui excursion. Food was nice but could have been hotter. Wine came as part of the meal and was not bad at all.   Let's start with the reason one will come here...the view. The balcony tables have one of the best views you can wish for a dinner, that is for sure. However, the food was a disappointment.. We asked for a ravioli and got a half backed pasta.. Worse when remarked about it the staff just said sorry but did nothing to compensate for the mistake... If you consider the ranking and pricing of the place one would expect some more consideration.. The deserts were also so-so. Overall we thought the restaurant was trying hard to be like a bistro but failing. Surely not a place we can recommend.
