  Best meals I had in Madeira! This carefully curated family restaurant offers a limited menu of fish and meat dishes (no vegetarian or vegan options). It truly feels that each dish is made with care and love - from the rich taste to appealing presentation and friendly service. I had shrimp cream soup in bread, coffee and a generous piece of apple pie for lunch, and came back for dinner. A shame I won't be able to try all of their dishes!   Absolutely loved my experience at this beautiful family owned restaurant. My mother and I were made to feel very welcomed by Inácio and his family during our whole dinning experience. Food was excellent, but portions were a bit bigger than we expected (fully our fault, he made us aware before we ordered to be clear lol), but would maybe advise to order one dish for two people. At the end of our meal he took the time to provide us with amazing recommendations of things to do in our last day. Wish we had come here sooner !!   Our best meal in Madeira so far! I had tuna belly and my husband had the slow cooked pork. Everything was delicious and perfectly cooked, even the slaw. The meal felt homie and authentic as well.   Our experience at Lilinha unfortunately wasn't as good as we had expected based on the reviews. The grilled cod in a mashed form was delightful, but as a main course, it was quite monotonous. It would have been a great dish if it were served with some salad or fries. We asked for some bread, but it took a long time to arrive, by which point our food was already finished. The male service staff was incredibly nice, but the same cannot be said for the lady who brought our food. Additionally, we found the food to be quite expensive for the overall experience. We paid just over 40 euros for two relatively simple main courses, some bread, water, and an apple juice.   What an amazing dining experience. You cannot beat the food, the flavour and service. Martha was amazing and recommended which menu items to taste. The food was delicious. We had the octupus followed by the prawns accompanied by chips, rice and salad. Don’t forget to order bread to lap up the sauce!!! This is the family run restaurant that used to be called Las Caraibas in Seixal , they have moved to Sao Vicente. Find it and make a stop, you won’t regret it.   The restaurant is slightly more expensive than the usual prices in Madeira. The location is okay, but the lack of a sea view, with a view of a road instead, is a downside. The service was quick and attentive. While the menu is small, it offers quality dishes; we tried seafood spaghetti and Azorean-style meat, both delicious and in satisfying portions. The bathroom is clean, although having the sink outside is a hygiene concern in my opinion. The decor is pleasant, and the chairs are acceptable. I recommend this place.   First of all, the location you see on the photos here is not true. The restaurant is not on the beach or even not with a sea view. Despite that we decided to have dinner there cause of the good recommendations here on google. But it was a mistake. The Shrimps were tough and hard to get out of their peel, which means cooked too long and not really fresh. The seafood pasta was just not good, it’s wasn’t „Pasta“ or Spaghetti… it was just mashed tender noodles. We stopped eating after few bites. No Taste. Service was engaged. But honestly, we can not understand this good reviews. Maybe it was long time ago, different location and chef or whatever. Prices are way too high for what you get. Sorry, never again!   Nice restaurant specialized in meats and seafood. They have a real huge lava stone/fire grill. They also offer a pasta/rice vegetarian dish on request which tastes really delicious. As dessert they have pies and cakes also very tasty. The atmosphere was a little bit weird, maybe turn on some music but it was really quiet. They went into such detail to explain the ingredients and also the effort they go into to flavour the meat. Also not the mention the service was impeccable, such a clean service and very lovely/ attentive waiters. Would most definitely go back!   I never write reviews but this is a must. The food was outstanding, the place was lovely and the service was just the best. Super friendly staff, they didn't have poncha but they said that they have all the ingredients and they made me one. So you can imagine how friendly, wonderful they were. We ate Caçiola which was 15 Euros which already comes with 3 sides. Their Potato chips is a homemade recipe which is really tasty.   the problem was that when the waiter presented the menu they didn’t tell us the octopus with rice has coriander and it’s spicy. As I have intolerance at coriander, I told them I cannot eat it, so they said I can order something else instead. I chose the bacalhau verde, which was excelent! However, we were charged the full price for the order even though there was a miscommunication from their side.   We stopped here after visiting the Fanal Forest today. Much like the other reviewers, we were greeted by a gentleman who explained what was on the menu (it changes based on the fresh ingredients available). We ordered the house dish (a kind of cod pie), a slow roasted pork dish, and a chicken dish. When everything was served we also got a side of pickled vegetables and a house made semi spicy sauce for the cod dish. Everything was delicious. We sampled one another's food and we all agreed everything we ordered was excellent. We've been on Madeira for 4 days so far-- this was the best food we've had since getting here. The waiter who works here is the nicest person ever, he explained us the menu so well and was extremely kind and attentive – we were so impressed! We waited about an hour for the dish to be prepared ( waiter explained us that the pork meat was prepared earlier on ). Way too oily, tasteless and way overpriced.   As many other people have said, this place does amazing bacalhau. They also prepare vegetarian dishes… We were sceptical at first when they said it was a vegetable pasta, but it was seriously the most flavour some vegetable pasta we have had on this island! There were also some cute cats hanging around, although this may not be your cup of tea if you’re allergic to them as the small kittens tend to try jumping on your knee!   Fantastically different! Was greeted with an extremely knowledgable waiter ‘Inacio’ who explained the entire menu in details along with stories of where the dish originated from. We had to try 4 dishes because it all sounded so good. Each dish was perfectly executed and the flavours were so different from the traditional menus you find all over the island. The produce is mostly grown in their garden next door. If you want an experience worthy of Michelin star without the price tag you have to try… We will be back.   We arrived here by chance as we were looking for a place to eat in Seixal. They have a limited but good quality local food. We ordered the king prawns and the baked cod dish. This tasted amazing! The host also offered to drop us to our hotel in Porto Moniz as were having trouble getting hold of a taxi. Really helpful and kind people and family.   There were 3 empty tables with a sea view - we asked for one and the waitress said that all tables were reserved. However the tables did not have a reserved sign. At the end she gave us a table by the kitchen. Some people came right after us without a reservation and the same waitress offered them a table with sea view. Might be because with sport clothes because we came from a Levada. It was rude and we decided to leave. The service was bad even though the reviews in google maps were good.   We wnet here on the way to the north part of the island. The menu is not as big as other places but its worth it. Its kindda home made recipes. .. simple but v tasty and juicy. Its realy wort it.   After our hike on the 19th Dec. 2020 we have chosen this restaurant. However I cannot believe how this place has 4.7 as rating. The only thing that is good at this place is the view. We ordered chicken with fries and pasta with seafood. The portions are really big, but quality is very poor. The food is eatable, but it does not feel like having fillies you stomach with good food. The seafood pasta tested like warmed up twice, small shrimp, mussels and prawns tasted all the same. THE noodles were cooked far to long. They were aldente a century ago. All in all it was more noodle soup than pasta. When you are hungry and do natcare about quality do it, otherwise not.   After 7 days trying out several Restaurants, this was our highlight! We had Scampi Soup in a bread as starter and it was huge and tasty. Afterwards Spaghetti with seafood and a homemade Piri Pirii Made by a recipe from grandpa. We were full but we also had to taste the homemade peanut ice cream... Soo delicious! So if you are nearby don't hesitate and join this place under the palm trees with the sound of the ocean as background. After we finished our meal, it took 15-20minutes for waitress to come. Nothing to drink, really obvious, that we finished, guests at 4 tables, 3 waitresses. They were avoiding us even with look.   My family and I enjoyed a thoroughly pleasant lunch at this family run venue, that is perfectly placed on the coast; allowing close up views of the waves crashing on shore. The service was friendly and helpful, with the staff member making recommendations and sharing some recipe tips to recreate some of these fine dishes back home. I had the bacalhau verde, which is a cod and spinach based fish pie, topped with cheese. Both I and my family all agreed that it was excellent. Other main course dishes we ordered included the lamb stew and chicken with homemade chips; all of which was delicious. Lastly, the homemade peanut butter ice cream was exceptionally tasty and had a lovely texture too. We have two more days in Madeira and we're already thinking about how we can fit in another visit to Las Caraibas.   This is one of the *best* places to eat on the whole island. Why is that. Here's our experience: First we were welcomed by the owner of the place (a nice lady, who runs this place together with her mother, who is the excellent cook of the meals). She introduced herself and walked us through the rather small (portuguese) menu. The reason for the small menu, she explained, is that everything is really fresh and local. Upon our question about the size of the dishes, she recommended that if we wanted to try a starter (soup in bread loaf) and a main course (fish), we should rather order just one of each and split. As it turned out, this was just the right recommendation. She (as well as her mom) just like us do not like to throw away food. The food itself was just great - really great. The place is nicely decorated, giving a great "beach" atmosphere. The music in the background is not too loud and there are no noisy streets around - perfect! It is a family restaurant where there is something else cooked every day - that is why not all the menu is available every day. We ate at many restraurants on the island and in Funchal. The prices here are a bit higher, but the dishes had the best taste of them all! Highly recommend.
