  We ordered the prawns and the fish of the day, but they were pretty overcooked, nothing better than average. It looks better than it tastes. Bread with mayonnaise as a starter, seriously? Sorry, but it didn't impress us either. Although the staff is friendly and the atmosphere is great, the food makes the restaurant and should be better.   Scammers and tourist trap. Friendly when luring you in but try and rip you off when the bill comes and they become hostile. Classical tourist scam behaviour. Their prices are not on the menu but instead listed per pound/kg. This means that they will create a fake price at the bill, even if you agreed on the grams beforehand. Worst thing is that they only rip-off outsiders and not local Portugese people. It’s places like this that give a town a bad name. I’m not visiting Silves again because of this.   Loved the medium grilled prawns! Everyone was loud, but it didn't bother us. It felt like good ambiance and everyone having a good time :D there was a queue but definitely worth the wait. Friendly service as well - it was super busy but they still answered all our questions and were very nice. Would definitely recommend this place.   Amazing place with see food, not many tourists know about this place. During peak hours you have to wait for a free table, we waited 1.5 hours but it was really worth it because the food is delicious, shrimp, crabs, shells all tasty and fresh.   Came here as a group of 10. Obviously extremely popular as there were locals queuing outside for hours, but I just didn’t find it especially good at all. The seafood platter was filled with tiny and cheap clams and the seafood rice was much more like a soup than a drier dish which I had expected. The waiting staff were very friendly, but unfortunately they had to be reminded multiple times of requests for drinks, bowls, cutlery etc etc. Possibly they’re a victim of their own success and can’t cope with the custom.   Based on the reviews we had very high expectations but we left a bit disappointed. The seafood is undoubtedly fresh, the service is quick, polite and attentive. The value for money is ok. We ordered the seafood rice, which is a typical Portuguese dish we've had millions of times in the time we've lived in Portugal and which is supposed to be a specialty here (hence why we ordered it). First, the portion was supposed to be for 2 but it was more for 4 people, way too much. Second, it didn't include much variety of seafood as we expected (mostly clams and prawns, a bit poor). Last but not least, it was so incredibly salty that it was barely edible. We had to pour some water in the pan as we were trying to fix it but unfortunately we didn't manage. We had some of it, took away the rest. Reheated it at home the next day, adding more water to it. Our second attempt wasn't successful either. The cost of this dish was 38€ which felt like a rip off because we couldn't properly enjoy it considering how salty it was. There are definitely better restaurants and marisqueiras in the area that cook way better for the same value. Reaqueça em casa no dia seguinte, acrescentando mais água. Nossa segunda tentativa também não teve sucesso. O custo deste prato foi de 38 €, o que pareceu um roubo porque não conseguimos apreciá-lo adequadamente, considerando o quão salgado era. Definitivamente existem restaurantes e marisqueiras melhores na região que cozinham muito melhor pelo mesmo valor.

  I was highly skeptical of the quality here given some of the negative experiences, but I was thoroughly impressed with my dinner here. The atmosphere was quiet and relaxed, not too crowded at 7pm.   Lunch at 1245. Not busy then but later. Cataplanas a peixe for two. Small Ottke chino verte and a coffee and melon for afters. Just under 50 EUR. Waiter was very efficient and friendly. One small pain was the card machine refused to take the payment and kept declining. Worked fine on the cash point opposite. Oh and never got the change back out of my 50.   The food was exqusite! My partner and I had a portion of salmon, grilled cod, the monkfish kebab, a few beers and the usual bread.. which all came in at just over €40. Best meal I've had out here so far and this isn't my first trip to the Algarve.   If you think that spending 32 Euros (yes!) on two medium sized lagostins is a good price (because the kg price is 75 euros). Standard Portuguese charcoal grill, very popular, small portions (I know this because the grilled grouper from another restaurant the night before, Buganvila in Alvor, was literally twice the size. In any case, this restaurant is trendy with the Brits and gets crazy busy. In my opinion, spending my evening in a crowded, noisy, cramped restaurant is not a good dinner experience.   Booked earlier today. Fairly full when we arrived at 8 pm on. Sunday. Clams for starter were excellent The fish Cataplana was also great and our friends who had the monkfish kebab were raving about it. All very good. Had some great wine with it Euphoria white wine...very good and a Herdade Grous red. Both from Alantejo and both very good. Staff were very good although when we arrived they were very busy and under pressure. Price for the 4 of us 180 euros including the wine. When we left at 11 it was still busy with locals arriving.   We came accross this restaurant while visiting the small charming town of Silves. This restaurant is very popular and you quickly understand why: very good service from the waiters speaking French and English, which makes ordering easier. Maybe they speak other languages too, but you get around with these 2 at least. They have an extensive list of fresh sea food and local specialities. I recommand the Cataplana de Ameijoas. The wine list will suit all tastes and budgets. Contrarilly to what I could read, the waiters were friendly and making sure we had all we needed. Overall, cataplana is 28€ for 2, if you top it up with a nice wine and iced orange or lemon as dessert, the bill will be around 50€ for 2, which I found good value for money. Do not come up too late after 8:00 pm or you might have to queue for quite some time, especially in the high season. Este restaurante é muito frequentado e você logo entende o porquê: atendimento muito bom por parte dos garçons que falam francês e inglês, o que facilita o pedido. Talvez eles falem outras línguas também, mas você consegue conviver com essas duas pelo menos. Eles têm uma extensa lista de frutos do mar frescos e especialidades locais. Recomendo a Cataplana de Ameijoas. A carta de vinhos irá agradar a todos os gostos e bolsos. Ao contrário do que pude ler, os garçons foram simpáticos e garantiram que tínhamos tudo o que precisávamos. No geral, a cataplana custa 28€ por 2 pessoas, se completar com um bom vinho e laranja ou limão gelado como sobremesa, a conta rondará os 50€ por 2 pessoas, o que achei uma boa relação qualidade/preço. Não chegue muito tarde depois das 20h ou poderá ter que ficar na fila por algum tempo, principalmente na alta temporada.
