  Staff not very attentive. They being Indians, didn't serve us well ( though we belong to same country!!). Preference given to foreigners. Bill details not given well, items consumed was written,but price was not mentioned!!. Overly priced. Same gravy in both veg and non veg. Basically making a fool out of foreigners in the name of "Indian food". Food served without plates. When asked , we were given starter plates. When re ordered dishes, we were commented on . Basically a BIG NO for this place. Even if they serve meal for free...!!( Which they won't,as they are there to cut pockets of tourists in the name of "Indian food" (Traduzido pelo Google) Pessoal não muito atencioso.   I ordered daal soup, vegetable soup, palak paneer and garlic naan. It was a cold day so this was a perfect lunch option! I absolutely loved the daal soup, but the vegetable soup was a little too runny for my liking, but just my preference. I loved their palak paneer and the garlic naan which was super fresh! I highly recommend anyone to stop by for a warm meal (I love spicy, so asked for very spicy). I think it's a family business, and everyone working there was super friendly and helpful.   The service was wonderful, so friendly and they make sure to get your order exactly how you order it. It is a clean establishment and updated. I had to rate it 3 stars because of the food, the creamy dishes that we ordered (chicken tikka masala and butter chicken) were so creamy you couldn’t really eat it, it tasted like flavorless cream and chicken. Was a bummer because I really wanted to like it! The naan was also hard and not fresh. The chicken vindaloo and chicken chilli with no cream in either dish were amazing!   I wish I could have leftovers for days. The restaurant proposes either a ‘a la carte’ menu or combos which are filling and de li cious. Individual dishes cost around 9-10€ whilst the combos cost between 12-14€ in December 2023. I had the vegan combo of samosa + rice + tarka dal + beverage but switched out the rice for vegan naan bread for a little extra cost. Insane. I will dream with those lentils. Consider that this is indian food, spice is spice, so if you’re a no-go for spice, be very clear on the no spicey food. The team is very kind, polite, proper, know their menus well.   This place has a mix of good things and bad things. I ordered a combo which included Naan Bread, Dal Makhni, Rice and a drink so I had ordered a coke zero. The meal costed 13 Euros and I ordered a veg Samosa as well The good things : 1. The Dal Makhani was really tasty. I had very less expectations but it did exceed my expectations. 2. The service was really good. The staff was courteous and the food was served pretty fast. 3. It is located well, a couple of minutes from the centre. 4. The quantity is really good. So much food for 13 Euros was worth it. Bad things : 1. There was constant drilling going on right besides the restaurant. It was really disturbing. 2. The quality of rice was not great. It was not Basmati but a low quality rice. 3. The samosa was the biggest disappointment. It seemed to be one of those frozen ones available in the market and not something they make on their one.   Ordered some chicken korma. The chicken wasnt fresh at all. It was hard to chew and really dry. The sauce not great. Felt like a frozen ikea version of what it should be.   What a hidden gem!! We arrived in Sintra late with limited dinner options. We absolutely love Indian food and were so happy Bengal Tandoori was open and eager to serve us. The food was phenomenal and plentiful. We ordered vegetable samosa, cheese and garlic naan, peas pulao special, paneer karahi,and vegetable kurma. Certainly way too much food for two but our bellies were so happy with all of the delightful flavors. Everything was delicious but our favorite was the cheese and garlic naan and paneer karahi 😋. The service was great. The staff was very friendly and attentive. I highly recommend this place!! You will not be disappointed. ETA: we came back our second night in Sintra! We basically ordered the same except we swapped the vegetable kurma for paneer tikka masala.   We arrived in Sintra after dark with only vague directions to our apartment. The manager of the restaurant saw us lost and confused and came out to walk us to our door. After we settled in we went back to the restaurant for a late dinner and I am so glad we did! We walked in behind a couple from Cheng Du, China who spoke no Portuguese and very limited English but had specific dietary requests. The staff maneuvered the language barrier well and we all became friends over Google Translate, broken English and a tiny bit of Spanish. Both our server and the manager were delightful and funny and we were very happy with their entree recommendations. We had the chicken tikka masala, a lamb dish they recommended (I don’t remember what it was called), rice and garlic naan and a mango lassi. The food was plentiful and delicious and came out hot and exactly the spice level we had requested. Our new friends at the next table were also clearly happy with their food as this was the third time they’d eaten here this week! We plan to have lunch here before we leave Sintra because their lunch specials are a bargain and we would like to check out the outdoor patio. A comida era farta e deliciosa e saiu quente e exatamente no nível de tempero que havíamos solicitado.   Good and bad.. the tikka masala was nice, the korma was terrible! The naans were ok and the onion bhajis were very good! The meal deals were a good price but I felt like they try and trick you. You can't even check your bill because it doesn't have each price so check with the menu. We ordered takeaway but the restaurant looked nice. The staff were ok.   My husband and I went to Bengal restaurant today around lunch time. We asked to sit on the patio and were told very curtly that no place. So, we sat inside and orders some soup and snacks.   We needed a good meal after walking around the palace and hiking the Moorish Castle. The Sintra downtown restaurants were all jam packed so we walked further away and followed the sign to Bengal Tandoori. We were so glad we did that! The service was excellent, the lunch menu was reasonably priced which included an appetizer, main dish, and a drink. We had the chicken tandoori and chicken tikka masala. Both were excellent! Their naan bread was particularly good. They have a lovely outside seating area and it was definitely worth walking a few extra steps to eat at Bengal Tandoori.   An unassuming looking restaurant, but the terrace setting, we sat under plane trees and the view of the narrow street below with ancient surrounding buildings was charming. Excellent food, the waiter was really friendly and interesting to speak to. Good choice of dishes and as I am vegetarian and my son loves very hot and spicy curries we were asked how spicy/hot we would like our food. I would highly recommend this restaurant.   More than 70 or so currys on the menu, always a red flag, but surprisingly it was much worse than we expected. Had chicken tikka, seikh kabab and samosas. It was arguably the worst south asian food I have ever tried. There was also nothing Bangla about the flavours. Seemed like no effort was put in food prep. Everything thing was clearly frozen, not fresh at all. The business model is to clearly sell to tourists who will never come back or know much about south asian food.   Need a halal fix while visiting Sintra? Check out Bengal Tandoori Sintra, they serve Indian and Italian food. They showed us the halal certificate. 🙌🏽 We had: ▪️Chicken Samosa - this was crispy and fresh tasting but it was lacking flavour. The sauces helped a bit. ▪️Onion Bhaji - these were crunchy and flavoursome. ▪️Chicken Tikka - this was alright but chicken wasn't juicy. The bed of onions and cabbage weren't cooked enough. ▪️Garlic naan - this wasn't very garlicky and it was a bit too thin in the middle, hence it was crispy rather than fluffy. ▪️Green salad - basic salad, thankfully it wasn't just onions. However there was no dressing, a wedge of lemon wouldn't go a miss. ▪️Beef Vindaloo - my friend had this and loved it. The beef was delicious, tender and full of flavour.   I took the palak paneer menu set, which came with rice and naan for around 10 euro. I asked to make it spicy enough and they respected that, but the palak tasted quite weird and was far from satisfying. The nan also had quite a "filthy" taste, for the lack of a better word to describe that I really didn't want to take another bite. The mango lassi however was tasty, although the portion was very small for the price paid. I also took a glass of red wine and got a bigger serving than the lassi, so that part was satisfying. While the service wasn't bad, it didn't really give me a friendly and happy feeling. Regardless of that, I think there are more dishes to be tasted and I would want to give this restaurant another chance next time.   This is my favourite place to have a meal in Sintra. Curry is just awesome, the rice is always fresh and crumbly, the size of the portion is just enough for a grown up person.   Fantastic restaurant! Only a 15 minute downhill walk from Quinta de Regaleira, near the Sintra National Palace and bus stations. The food was delicious and affordable (55€ for 3 people, with coffee and drinks). We were here around 2pm and it was not too busy as the reataurant is a bit hidden away.   We went to this restaurant as we love Indian cuisine and we found this place on Maps. It is hard to find but fortunately someone at the square showed us the way. We had Dahl Makani and Aloo Mutter (potatoes with peas) and asked for medium spicy. we also ordered two garlic naans. The two curries were excellent with a great flavour and spiciness. We thought the naan was too much like pizza dough rather than a traditional naan from a tandoori oven. We chose vegetarian as the meat dishes were a little pricey.   We arrived in Sintra late on our first day of the trip - and were pretty much dropped off right in front of this establishment with our luggage. Being later in the evening we decided to eat here first before going to the hotel. What a great decision. THe staff was incredibly friendly and helpful and the menu was extensive. We had a good beer (and white wine) and the Butter Chicken was excellent. We came back at least 2 more times during our 5 days in Sintra - I definitely recommend this restaurant.   Indian is a favorite cuisine for us so we find a spot or two in any city we visit and Bengal Tandoori was fantastic. Service was really great, Hardeep was a pleasure to chat with, and the food was excellent. A bit hard to find the restaurant but totally worth it. The prices were great too. Highly recommend!   Hidden gem of Sintra. We were thrilled to find this restaurant down an alley off the main square with a nice shaded outdoor porch to take a break from the sun. Food was delicious, menu was extensive with both South Asian and other cuisines, and portion sizes and prices were good. Servers were attentive and knowledgeable and offered incredibly helpful suggestions, and they were able to cater to our allergy needs. We got the butter chicken, prawn jalfrezi, chicken madras, and mango lassi- all of which were phenomenal. The prawn jalfrezi was a fan favorite, but all three dishes were great. A very nice gentleman handed us a flyer on this restaurant, we looked at it and decided to try it. He actually escorted us to the restaurant.   We were in Sintra with some picky eaters. So far, they were generally unimpressed with Portuguese food (not me... them) -- and are even more reluctant to spent much money on food -- so it was proving difficult to find something everyone would love. This came up as a good vegetarian option. It's a bit dark inside, and feels slightly like going into a dark alley, but once there, they have a great and varied selection at really really inexpensive prices. It was absolutely perfect for our needs! All the curries we got were tasty- Paneer tikka I would totally recommend, the palak paneer was great. The kids got a pizza and really liked it. If you have people who are nervous travelers, go here: they speak English great, food is super accessible, and prices are great.   Staff was not nice. They didn't talk to us. We ordered pasta with salmon and spinach lamb. Pasta was horrible and my partner didn't eat it. Spinach lamb was so so and meat was not cooked properly. In all Indian restaurants that I was so far, rice is included together with any lamb stew but here they charged me without even telling me in advance.   It blows my mind that this restaurant has a rating of over 4. And yet not I suppose, since there's a lot of tourism in the area. They serve some of the laziest Indian food, I've ever had. The staff gave me a bad impression from the get go. They don't really talk to you, but instead mumble at best. I couldn't really decide if they were rude or if it was just 'their way'. I did however not care too much about this, as long as the food was going to be good. I'd say that It's not really Indian food. They seem to take a bunch of shortcuts, like frozen or canned vegetables (peas for an example), which made the whole experience feel cheap. The good thing about the place?   Restaurant was great. The place its kind of ugly but it has an outdoor terrace thats fresh and has shadow. The pizza was good but nothing special, but indian food was awesome, top of the line.   Excellent Indian food which actually tastes Indian. We had a horrible experience at another Indian restaurant here in Sintra so we were worried maybe all indian restaurants in Portugal serve some weird tasting so called Indian food. But this place was excellent. Chicken Kadhai was our favorite and even Naan and chicken biryani were excellent. When in Sintra and you want Indian food, this is the place to eat!   Great Indian food!! Quite the gem of a find here in Sintra. Absolutely delicious and full of flavor. Home is Seattle for me and we have a lot of good Indian food but this was right there at the top with one of my favorite Indian restaurants back home. If you’re looking for something a little different than the amazing Portuguese food, definitely give Bengal Tandoori a shot! It will be an excellent chance of pace with DELICIOUS Indian food!   What a gem! After a long day of exploring Pena and the Moorish palace all we wanted was a lovely hot meal! It was close to 5pm and we tried getting into two Portuguese restaurants only to be turned away (rather rudely as well!). It was a relief to finally be greeted here with a smile! And the food is one of the best Indian I’ve had in a long long time! Being an Indian myself I can say that the food is as authentic as it gets! We ordered the butter chicken and the chicken jalfrezi (both spicy) with garlic naan, and it was one of our best meals in Portugal! Please do not think twice about going here, the food is sublime!   Don’t let the location fool you, or the menu for that matter. Good, fast Indian food after a long day touring the Sintra palaces. Also kid friendly because they have an Italian menu also that includes pizza. Not special but a good solid change of pace option in a town full of tourist traps.   Take it from an Indian, the food here is very good and is genuinely Indian. It is also reasonably priced at 8-12 euros for a meal.   Okay so this place looks dodgy but it was fantastic! Just what we needed on a lazy Sunday evening. I always think you should never order a different cuisine from the restaurant’s chosen speciality but in this case we had 2 great pizzas from an Indian to take away. We had some drinks in the restaurant while we waited and chatted to the staff. Very friendly although a little overworked. Don’t be put off by the exterior it’s great quality and SO much better than the tourist trap square.   Tandoori is a small sit-down restaurant tucked off of an unassuming alley, out of sight from the crowds of tourists in the center of Sintra. The food was served fresh in generous portions and was quite flavorful. The service was adequate - pleasant but not overly friendly; our server spoke perfect English and was happy to offer suggestions for the table of vegetarians and vegans next to us. Recommendation: try the chicken samosa... it was a delight.   If you find yourself in this place by accident do avoid the samosas. Worst ones I ever tasted (and I had a lot of them!) . Service is uninspired and waiter looked grumpy and intoxicated. Chicken madras was below average. If you consider this good Indian food you haven't tasted Indian food before.   Wow what a find. Didn't expect to come to Sintra and eat Indian but so happy I did. The food was just simply amazing. The place is very unassuming and is hidden down one of the little side streets that can easily be missed amongst all the tourist traps. Butter chicken was great. And very well priced.   Was craving some curry while in Sinatra and came across this gem. The food was outstanding. It's only a one minute walk from the main square. Skip all the mediocre restaurants that are tourist traps and come here to eat. Prices are fair and the food will NOT disappoint at all. I grew up in India so consider this a legit validation of Indian food. They also have pasta pizza etc which I did not try but saw someone at the next table order of and it looked good.
