  Nothing I would like to recommend. Everything tastes normal. While the restaurant boasts fresh ingredients, it unfortunately does not live up to its high price point or its glowing reviews. The menu, ranging from tapas to soups to grilled octopus, is reasonably expected at a price level of around 30 Euros per person, yet it lacks any distinct or unique flavors that set it apart. I find myself puzzled by the abundance of high ratings, as my experience suggests it merits a more modest score of 4.0 not the higher rating it currently holds.   Absolutely delicious food. We liked everything from cheeses and olives for starter through soup of the day ending with main courses cod with potatoes and sea food.   Found this gem online, decided to try it and was happy. Food was good, and the wine recommendation was great. I went for a late lunch and waited 10 min for the wait staff to give me their attention. (There were empty tables but they were too frazzled to clean it up and serve the guests queueing.) That aside, everything was good. I had a deep fried squid ink for appetizer, and grilled squid for main. Add a glass of wine and water, and the bill was Eur33.   Overall I can recommend the place. Though it’s located in touristy area, prices are decent and food is good. We had vegetable soup, black risotto with shrimp and clams, and codfish with eggs. All was nice, maybe risotto is slightly overpriced in my opinion, but tastes nice. The place itself is cosy, design fit in with the vibe of Sintra.   We went to the restaurant consecutively 2 nights . Both nights we ordered the shrimp soup . The 2nd night my soup was rather salty which was rather disappointing. The fried shrimp with olive oil and garlic were simply delicious. So fresh and full of prawn sweetness. As for the steak and pork both are above average. We had the cod with sweet potatoes, spinach, and corn bread, which was different than we expected, but oh so good. We also had the zucchini canoe which was as vegetable-y and cheesy as one could wish.   Only restaurant we went to during our Sintra visit. It is a relatively small restaurant but luckily there was one table available for us when we arrived. The appetisers and main dishes were great but i felt the dessert (pumpkin cake) was too sweet for my taste. Would definitely recommend eating here when visiting Sintra. Had a puff pastry with cheese and ham, and a turkey/potato/cheese casserole. Both were good but heavy. The wine pours are kind of light, but a glass ranges from €4-6.   We spent a day in Sintra and our local driver named Bruno, recommended this place. The food was AMAZING. We’ve been in Portugal a few days and so far I think this place will not get topped. I had pork belly with mashed potatoes and sautéed veggies. The mashed potatoes had such magical flavor, it reminded me of home, somehow they managed to make them as tasty as a mofongo, which is a latin plantain smash with garlic and pork rinds. The pork belly was well seasoned and the veggies were tasteful and tender. My husband had fried red meat smothered in a porto red wine sauce alongside almond rice. He couldn’t stop eating while raving about his delicious food. Wishing I would have ordered seafood, as Im assuming it would have been amazingly tasteful.   The food I cannot fault. The service was not great. We ordered 4 dishes from the tapas menu. Two were delivered within five minutes of each other, the other two delivered to the table in front of us. My partner noticed this and when the waiter who delivered the food noticed, he laughed.   We had a nice dinner at Romaria de Baco. It’s traditional Portuguese cuisine and very small inside. The tables are so close you become friends with the people next to you. The servers are friendly and want to give their patrons a nice meal. The food was delicious. We shared meat croquettes which were smoky but delicious for anyone liking smoked meat. The garlic shrimp were delicious but be warned no restaurant we’ve encountered in Portugal clean the “vein” from the shrimp. My husband had the pork with black sausage sauce which was falling apart tender. He really enjoyed the dish. I had the turkey/ham with potatoes and cheese. Decadent and comforting on a rainy day. For dessert we shared the ice cream cake with chocolate ganache on top. Wow was it excellent! The portions are large and the prices are reasonable.   In my opinion this is the best restaurant in Sintra and surrounding areas. Everytime i came from the UK on holiday this was my first stop. Now that i moved back to Portugal i am still to find a place where they make me feel more at home than here. I love it, i recommend it and i promise you won't be disapointed!   Very slow service and more expensive than nearby places for similar food. We went when it just opened and it was fairly empty. Food was nothing spectacular. Had the traditional cod dish with sweet potatoes and spinach and it was super tasty. Also had the sausage in pastry which was also very good. We’ve ordered the shrimp and squid with olive oil and garlic, made with sautéed red peppers, which was insane. Remember to ger bread as you’ll want to dip all of it in the oil.   This place was surprisingly bad. We arrived at about 1pm. There were tables for 2, 4, and 6 available. We loved everything we ate but must put a highlight on the excellent desserts. The chocolate cake and strawberries in wine were absolutely to die for!   Was a disappointing experience for us. Our main dishes took an hour to arrive and apparently it was because they thought we were still having our appetisers (which only some of us had ordered and it had already been eaten a long time ago). If we didn’t ask about our food, it never would’ve arrived. Other customers who came after us were served before us. No compensation was offered which other restaurants usually do. Food-wise, the only thing that stood out to us was their grilled octopus, it was pretty good. Everything else was okay or not very flavourful. I ordered the seafood black rice (19 euros), it was not very flavourful and the portion was not very big for the price. You can imagine 19 euros in portugal is very expensive. Overall price to value ratio is not worth it. Service was good when there weren’t many people, but when it got busy, the service dropped a lot. I’d go elsewhere for better food and service.   A great recommendation from our Guruwalk tour guide. The meal has been the best during our trip to Lisbon/Sintra! We order a shrimp soup, bread basket and grilled pork belly as starters. Soup was flavourful and creamy. Pork belly was crispy yet melts on the tongue. Then the octopus and grilled squid for the main course - even grilled vegetables on the plate were delicious, just the potatoes were a bit too salty. We also ordered wine and a dessert - ice cream cake with hot chocolate and almonds. All good too but if I had to spend more money on something, it would be their starters.   We read a lot of mixed reviews. Many people said it was the best, I even read how good it was on someone’s blog. Take my word for it and don’t waste your time. Service was poor, food was ok and it was all pricey. We got the grilled octopus and jt was a bit overcooked and really not worth it. It came with very salty potatoes and a odd mix of veggies and soggy olive oil bread. We had the aged Iberian ham and it was good but overpriced. The first one was tasty, the second only ok. Each around 19€. The wine was Quinta do Rosa 2020, low body and very high on tanines, not worth the 6€ each cup. Also, the menu is pretty limited to countless dishes with Pork and Cod Fish, in many types.   Eventhough just couple of tables are in the restaurant, the servers were extremely slow and careless. We ordered tenderloin steak and it was impossible to cut and eat. Most of it wasted. It took literally 10min to give us a basket of bread when there were just 6-7 people in the restaurant. At the end they charged us 20€ more, and we realized it just after pay with card. It took 15min to solve and they paid back in cash. So definitely not recommended.   Decent traditional Portuguese fare, had some very nice cured ham and the octopus dish. Staff were polite but not as attentive, table settings were done with proper screens but very closely placed to one another. The Carrot cake with chocolate was very yummy.   Perfect place to eat lunch while visiting Sintra. It's enough off the beaten path that it isn't "touristy." The service was excellent but don't plan on a quick bite. Instead plan on having a comfortable, relaxed time in a quaint established restaurant. It's small but it seats a good crowd. Very cute.   This was our first 5 star experience food wise. The seafood mixed platter (hake fish with mussels, shrimp) was phenomenal. My family had pork and steak and loved every bite of it.   My partner and I ate here twice on our visit to Sintra. The Beef in Porto sauce, pork loin and the cod were our favourites and the mushroom risotto is a delicious vegetarian option, full of flavour and the prices are reasonable. It’s a cute little place with a cosy atmosphere, outdoor seating, excellent wine selection and lovely staff. Bruno and Cecilia were particularly attentive and friendly, always making us feel welcome.   Honestly, the food was okay. Nothing really memorable. The peppers were probably the best thing we had sadly. I don’t know if the fried beef ‘steak’ we had was actually beef? But the sauce was nice. The sides of that weren’t really good. The rice tasted like minute rice to be honest, very dry. The mussels were nice. The bread is very good. The stuffed mushrooms were okay, the mushroom itself was very dry. We were one of the first people in this small restaurant yet we were served quite slowly.   We ended up going with the tapas and the options were all good and well seasoned. Service was satisfactory but I think we may have caught one of the staff towards the tail end of their shift. The food generally was filling but nothing special. If you’re in the area and want something that is Portuguese and well seasoned//not extortionately overpriced in Sintra - this isn’t a bad choice. Better choices in central Lisbon however. Probably a great spot if you love wine as they had a pretty great selection. Another note, we tried to order the tasting menu which is essentially all the tapas dishes but as it’s subject to kitchen discretion, we weren’t able to get it.   Amazing restaurant at the heart of Sintra. Can’t recommend this one enough. At lunch we had the bread with tomato to start. It goes to show how quality ingredients and seasoning can turn a seemingly common dish into a brilliant one. Pork tenderloin was divine. For dinner, we actually went there again. The stuffed mushrooms are perfect. If the outside is available, they have good wine on tap. Price is mid-high, but justified by the quality (around 20€ per person).   We were hopeful because of the many great reviews, but food was extremely slow to come out. We were the first guests to arrive during lunch time, and the restaurant quickly filled up a bit after we had ordered our food. There seems to be a random time interval for the arrival of food as some people who arrived later than us received their food first. We got our appetizer first, but two main dishes didn’t come out at the same time. Managed to finish one before the second one came. The fried baby squid was good, the rice dishes including the black ink rice wasn’t something I’d order again for the price of it (it was 17 euros).   Don't be fooled by the rating, check the lowest star review! There were tons of tourists who had a same experience as us. Don't waste your time! Use the time to enjoy Sintra! Awful service and not a great food. We had to wait for the meal for one hour without any explanation or apologies. We asked why it is taking so much time, but the staff was very rude by saying "our food is not pre-cooked, we need average of one hour to cook for every dish". It does not make sense at all, as those dishes which takes longer to cook has estimated cooking time remarks on the menu, such as "requires 25mins". The menu we ordered did not have such remarks and it were only a simple (but too oily) grilled cod fish, a steak (which turned out to be very rare without asking how we like it to be cooked) and a thin pork belly.   What a lovely ending to our trip to Portugal. The mushroom and meat starters stood out. I had the shrimp curry. It was nice (a bit too salty) but also don't expect amazing curry as bot Portuguese cuisine. One of my friends had the black rice... it was very good. And my other friend had the Octupus which was also very good. We enjoyed the flavours and variety and place is quaint and so charming. Leandro was so hospitable and kind. I enjoyed the various wine recommendations. The dessert was so lovely. Thank you for a personal and unique experience that we will never forget.   The food is a bit expensive (but still cheaper than in Belgium). The wine price is good and wide selection (from cheap to bottles that cost €240+ so be careful). The soup of the day was vegetarian with real zucchini chunks - served hot! The squid was delicious however the potato was a bit too salty (maybe it’s how locals like it - I don’t know. For me it was a bit salty). The bonus is that during these funny COVID-19 times each table in the restaurant is equipped with a glass/plastic wall separating your dining experience from others “coughs” and “caughs”. Again, it was Sunday and many other good places were closed. The alternative restaurants nearby have bad reviews in google maps and have ads “a l’a kebab” so this place is a much better choice.   Amazing food with nice ambient and friendly staff. The sangria was prepared freshly and the olives were super tasty. We had the seafood and fish stew with roasted potatoes which was awesome. The prices were also fair for such portions and the waiters were speaking English fluently. I am so happy they were open on Jan 1st and would definitely get back to this place next time in Sintra.   Awesome experience. Service was appropriately paced and everyone spoke excellent English which I didn't expect but certainly was a bonus. Nice wine selection but our primary choice was out, however the backup selection by the server was great. All the food was good, and the recommendation for cheese plate as dessert was very enjoyable. Only minor thing to complain about was the sausage croquettes could use more flavor from the sausage and the I thought the Madeira reduction could be a bit stronger in flavor, but not enough to take a star off. We had many items and liked them all - cheese plate, calamari, puff pastries filled with sausage, and also puff pastries filled with ham and cheese, scrambled eggs with sausage (although the English menu claims they were “scrumbled” eggs, they looked scrambled to us!), a zucchini vegetarian dish, and some wine and water.   Not too many tables, but great food! Our waiter was multilingual and reminded me of Joe Pesci a bit. My wife and I had a couple appetizers, which we rate about a 8 out of 10. As for the mains we ordered the “tender slow cooked black pork” & the “duck magret” which we were definitely a 10 out of 10. When the duck magret arrived the waiter informed us right away that there will be a few more pieces added (assuming the portion was incorrect a bit).   Delicious Food! Wished we stayed in Portugal longer to try some of the dishes we saw near us and on the menu. We had the Bacalau à Bras. Shredded dried, unsalted cod and shredded fried potatoes scrambled in eggs. It is Terrific! We also had a side dish of the Black Pork Belly. This was a great accomplishment with our Bacalau dish and the local white wine. I'm saving this restaurant as a Favorite for when we return. (Traduzido pelo Google) Comida deliciosa!   This is a lovely, small restaurant in the old town centre of Sintra. The food is delicious and the staff are very welcoming. The only reason I’ve rated it 4 stars is because I think it’s quite cheeky of them to put out cheese, bread and olives on your table without you asking them to, and then you get charged for it at the end as they are not complimentary. It’s something that happens a lot in Portugal though. Of course you can tell them you don’t want it but it’s always a bit awkward. Also my mum asked for a house white wine, and the waiter insisted on her having another type of wine, which was nice but of course more expensive. Also they insisted on us having bottled water, when we’ve been having two water in Lisbon this whole time. Minha mãe também pediu um vinho branco da casa, e o garçom insistiu para que ela tomasse outro tipo de vinho, que era bom, mas claro, mais caro. Também insistiram para que tivéssemos água engarrafada, quando este tempo todo temos tomado duas águas em Lisboa.

  Amazing restaurant. The staff is really friendly and they speak a lot of languages. The plates are big and very tasty and they suggest the best wine to go with everything.   We were very lucky to get a table, as a walk in on a Saturday night. We were very happy to be squeezed in, for what was very very good food, wine and service - we were not disappointed. We let the staff choose our wine, and ate a few tapas dishes (cod with egg and asparagus, shrimp with garlic, and croquettes) and shared a main course of octopus. The dishes were all tasty and we devoured them. The octopus was very tender and we loved it. Wine selection and dessert were also great. Highly recommend this place and we were nicely surprised when the bill came. The staff are excellent and greet everyone like regulars.   My wife had the octopus and it was melting in her mouth. Delicious. I had the tenderloin steak. Very good. Pedro, the owner, Took the time to tell us about the Portuguese cuisine and the local sourcing of the ingredients. He also brought us sheep cheese samples to try. We enjoyed it very much. The sheep butter is very good. Margarida, our waitress was pleasant and friendly. We highly recommend this establishment that was within walking distance of our hotel.   The staff's passion for the food is evident. And they love to share their joy at what the kitchen produces. We mostly let them pick. Leek soup was awesome and also the octopus tempura. Also enjoyed the strawberries in port for dessert. Easy to hear the tasteful jazz and also easy to talk. Perfect acoustics. Reasonably priced by U.S. standards.   This place is adorable!!! Probably only fits around 20-ish guests. The food was amazing and the staff was very nice (fluent in English, Spanish, Portuguese, and French). We ordered the grilled cheese (which is literally just a pile of fried cheese, no bread or sandwich like the American grilled cheese) but was SO delicious, the mixed cheese and smoked ham plate (also amazing - everything local), pork belly (visually not appetizing, because it literally just a bowl of the most delicious, fatty meat), green peppers and fried baby squid (super fresh). We ordered a bottle of their recommended red wine and ended up getting another bottle and took it to go. Highly recommend this place if you are staying in town!
