  What we liked best: the food. Madrid or Lisbon prices but everything we had was extremely tasty including the risotto with vieras (scallops). Some of the staff a tad aloof but professional.   We had a fabulous time at this little gem. The food was so well delivered, with flavors distinct to the region. We ordered the pork cheeks, which were delectably tender, slightly on the smaller side portion wise. We also enjoyed the black ink risotto. The servers were such a blast, they were full of fun and giggles. We’re from Canada, and having them speak to us fluently in English was a bonus.   We enjoyed an excellent meal. The menu offers something a little different from other restaurants in Tavira so we were pleased to enjoy the well cooked food in such pleasant surroundings. Overall we could not fault the evening and will certainly visit again. The Algarvian Board was an excellent choice to start and this was followed by Tuna Tachos and for my wife a succulent braised meat and vegetables. We loved the sweet potato fries.   Fantastic food. We came back after 3 years and it did not disappoint. We had the famous tuna tacos, the octopus tempura and the creamy mushroom soup. Thank you for the experience!   This place came highly recommended from most of google so I decided to make a reservation and check it out. Based on all of the positive reviews, I must have come on an off night for the kitchen. We ordered the scallops, portegees beef, burrata with asparagus and a cream of vegetable soup. Unfortunately all of the items were way over salted and by the end of the meal the food was hard to stomach. The staff was very friendly but the food wasn’t what the other reviews made it out to be. This place plays to an American crowd with the music and salt content but at some point us Yankees have to wave the white flag.   Fabulous. We luckily came across this restaurant while walking around and were delighted. It’s about 5 minutes from the main square and so worth it, the service was impeccable and the waiters were really friendly while the food was delicious.   This was such a lovely experience. We were warmly greeted by the staff on arrival, who were also very helpful when choosing menu options. I went for the tuna sandwich which was honestly so delicious it made me want to come back and try out the other dishes. The presentation was great and clearly cooked with love and care.   Nice atmosphere, the team made lots of effort to decorate the place, present the food and talk to customers. Unfortunately the food is standard. The soup was missing salt, the abanicos were grilled too much and dry tiny pieces. The Cheeseburger & fries as well as the prawns were good and tasty. Wine menu is decent and good wines by the glass, the mojito I had was very good and nicely presented. I was a bit disappointed and expected overall much more in regard to the quality of the food. As in the end it is about the food when going for dinner the rest cannot make up for it - only 3*.   Overrated restaurant. Food was mediocre, service was very poor, incorrect order, some part of order was forgotten, no sauces with the steak, overcooked stir fried vegetables.   The first visit to this restaurant in Tavira though I had heard good things about it. The food is exceptional, fresh, high quality and cooked to perfection. The scallops and prawns were particularly good though all the food I would expect to be at a good standard. For the quality the price is highly affordable.   The food was delicious. I had the sardines and a Portuguese dish. Service was overall good. They normally only allotted two hours per table. Luckily, they were not busy, so I was able to stay longer. I arrived in Tavira that day from the US and wanted to relax. Reservations are highly encouraged.   The staff seemed friendly, the food seemed nice, unfortunately they placed us (party of 4) in two large circular tables, in front of a large window, getting hit directly by the sun. After 15 minutes it was unbearably hot, my leg was hurting because of the sun and we left. I’m giving two stars because the staff was really nice. I had made this reservation over a month ago and there’s no excuse to have been seated at this place. If they want to place customers by the window, they should install blinds and have better room temperature control.   Nice cosy place and friendly waiters. In my opinion this restaurant is slightly overhyped for what it offers. The menu was quite limited and a bit misunderstood compared to other places. We tried looking up the menu online before going, but some of the items weren’t listed and the same menu was being changed soon after our visit, so we didn’t take any photos of it. The grilled vegetables were bland and didn’t have a very good look. The polenta with bacon didn’t really need seafood in it, as it felt more like combining leftovers of two separate meals. The batter of the tempura octopus was quite heavy and doughy, while it also had no crisp at all. The only thing I can wholeheartedly recommend is their allioli, as it had a an inspiring twist to it - slightly curry-like flavour and a bit of a zing. The sweet potato fries were also prepared just right and not burned like in some of the other places we tried. Given the other wonderful places we found on our way, we decided to give the new menu a miss and not dine a second time here. I’ve lowered another star, because we were seated inside and they allowed a family with two children, all clearly poorly, which made the surrounding tables very uncomfortable. Once you’re inside, there is only one opening and it’s the front door, so not really a good flow of air and you may feel a bit trapped if another table coughs and sneezes around you. Dados os outros lugares maravilhosos que encontramos no caminho, decidimos deixar de lado o novo menu e não jantar aqui uma segunda vez. Baixei outra estrela, porque estávamos sentados no interior e permitiam uma família com dois filhos, todos claramente debilitados, o que tornava as mesas circundantes muito desconfortáveis. Uma vez dentro, há apenas uma abertura e é a porta da frente, então não há um bom fluxo de ar e você pode se sentir um pouco preso se outra mesa tossir e espirrar ao seu redor.   You'll probably need a reservation as this restaurant is as popular with locals as it is with well-informed tourists. The anchovies-on-the-line are a favorite, but not for everyone as they are wonderfully fresh. Tuna and beef are excellent, but the star of the show are probably the tuna and wasabi tacos.   We had no reservation, but still got a place for lunch and it was absolutely worth it. We had the tuna taco, Iberian plate and the countryside salad and all of these were just delicious. The service was great and forthcoming therefore the perfect lunch for us and a great finish to our stay in Tavira. The food is definitely worth the visit for this restaurant and absolutely to recommend.   Today I ate in an overrated restaurant. We tried a number of things: vegetable creamy soup, cheese board, scallops, tempura octopus, tuna tacos, cod fish, sweet potato fries, chicken wings and Tangerine cheese cake. I will give 5 stars to scallops, tempura octopus and tuna tacos. I am giving it a 3 star because everything came to the table at very slow pace and the taste of other things was just okay, not equivalent to the rating they have got. For me tangerine cheesecake was more of a mousse not a cheesecake. I must say I liked the people of the restaurant more than the food. It is tapas style restaurant and not completely authentic Portuguese. Why as a tourist shall one eat here, as I am always looking into local and traditional foods? Yesterday I ate in Avenida, the little not so posh looking restaurant located few meters from it, and their seafood rice is worth dying for!   unfortunately, we got our time messed up and we called to let them know… they were nice enough to let us change it. on the phone we were told that we will only have the table for an hour. when we arrived, the short guy at the reception, reminded us in a very rude way, that we were able to be there for 60min and that we should have been there at 7oclock. we wanted to celebrate our anniversary and actually planned on having drinks and food. While we were eating our meal, they were very fast to clear the table (before we were fully done and still had 20 more minutes left) which made us feel very uncomfortable. 2 years ago it was way more charming and personal.   If I could give this place 10 stars I would. The best dinner we have had in Tavira. The staff were AMAZING, so friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. The food was absolutely perfect. We had the prawns, pork cheeks, cheese burger, hazelnut mouse and creme brûlée- all divine! The cocktails are unbelievable too. Just a wonderful evening all in all, can’t recommend enough!! The quality of the ingredients are just perfect, but they're out of the cooks league. The execution in some of the dishes could be better. However, I'll come back every chance I get.
