  Although the location is great, the staff is rude and not professional. There were plenty of vacant tables outside, is was not busy at all. Asked for a table for a drink and was told that I could only stay inside. Clearly the outside tables are reserved to tourists/foreigns and "flashy" customers. They took ages to take my order and to bring it as well. Once inside the employees were constantly screaming as if they were alone with no customers. Can't rate the food as I didn't order. It is with disappointment that I share my recent encounter at Windsurf Cafe, a spot I've frequented as a local resident in Carcavelos for the past two years. Regrettably, the front-of-house staff's unfriendly and rude conduct, coupled with the impatient and patronising attitude of too many of the individual members of staff who take the orders, has consistently marred our visits. Despite our enjoyment of the location itself, the recurring negative experiences have finally pushed us to explore alternative options along the beach. (There are many). I trust this review will encourage other people to find alternative cafés, while encouraging some major professional development for the management and staff there. The place has potential, IF it has an overhaul of staff, or a massive training programme for those who work there. Customers deserve much better than this!!!   Manager refused to seat 4 of us because it was for meals only and we only wanted some drinks. There was 3 tables having drinks only when we got refused and all the other tables were empty 🤷🏻‍♂️🤔 poor management decision. I believe they getting too much money to care or provide a good service.   Have eaten here twice. Last night for tapas and then today for lunch. Food was excellent, voto in quality and quantity. Service was great both times, the lunch was served by Renato.   I live in Carcavelos and I’ve been to this place a lot of times and every time there is an issue. The owner wants to control customer entrance and behavior she said I could not leave the table to use the restroom and the beach showers because I took too long.   Unfortunately I have to say I came twice here and both times not happy. First time I ordered a sandwich and it was super dry. On top it was super expansive. Living here since a while the price was not in relation to the quality. Second time I came alone (!). They had 10 (!) Free tables outside and it was 5pm but they said they only want to seat me inside (!) Because they said the tables were for larger groups and they were sure it gets more busy.I told them I am happy to move inside when they need the table but they insisted I go inside. For me the attitude towards customer service isn't the customer is king more the restaurant because of the location and the footfall on tourism.   No wonder why there is no body when you treat people like that. I was going to the beach with my kids and waited a bit to go to the beds. I didn’t see anybody after 5 minutes I thought I can go, and installed my umbrella for the baby. A person came and he said I should go up to pay, I said yes of course very happily. When I finished installing everything another person came to me telling me I can’t put my umbrella and that it is her space and that I should have ask her (wonder why she wasn’t there and how should I know I was supposed to ask for her) and not install my thing before asking her the permission. So I said ok then she went again on and off that she came her running to tell me that and I should feel sorry. So I decided to left and finally going to have lunch somewhere else. It’s one thing to tell me that I can’t put my umbrella (which I can understand), another thing to make me feel really bad for putting one for my kid. There was no one on your beach and I don’t wonder why anymore. The boss of the place will be happy to know how he is loosing money because of bad customer service. Uma coisa é me dizer que não posso colocar meu guarda-chuva (o que posso entender), outra coisa é me fazer sentir muito mal por colocar um para meu filho. Não havia ninguém na sua praia e não me pergunto mais por quê. O chefe do local ficará feliz em saber como está perdendo dinheiro por causa do mau atendimento ao cliente.

  Very bad service. We love Lisbon and already 5th time here. I loved this cafe always, but it seams to change. Very unprofessional staff with really bad habits. We wanted some small snacks and one of the employees (very unfriendly person) told us to order more expensive food or go to another table (in the sun) if we don’t want to have a bigger lunch.   My partner and I visited this Cafe for lunch and we loved it. The Gin Sangria pitcher was light and refreshing with mango and passion fruit. 30€ for a pitcher seemed like a lot but it had us feeling very nice for our entire beach day so it was worth it! We shared an app of batata fritta and the spicy shrimp wrap. Both were just as delicious as they look in the photos online. The portions were enough for us to share and still feel full.   The rudest and most unprofessional staff I’ve encountered. It was not busy, there were vacant tables inside and there was a storm and it was raining heavily! They wouldn’t allow us to sit at a table inside as we only wanted drinks, we then said we would order some snacks and dessert but were still told NO we had to sit outside in the rain! We decided to leave and the bar tender then had the audacity to say it was their rules and ‘we should understand’ They then made some rude comments as we were ushered out!   Been coming to this place for years. Good food, nice vibes. Brought my wife's family on a Wednesday morning to introduce them, they are visiting Lisbon for the first time. I was "welcomed" by a grumpy Brazilian woman, who seemed to be in charge. She was very eager to present the house rules: EUR 30 per sunbed, max 2 people each, plus all the consumption must be from the house while you are on the beach (yes, standing on the sand). We could not even drink our own water. I was willing to pay for the sunbeds, of course, as it's the norm everywhere. But this woman seemed very interested in not having customers. When It came to paying the bill, I asked them to remove that carbonara from the bill since it came as it went back - plate Full. A manager appeared (blonde, female) and asked what was wrong and just spoke super rudely over me and my other guest, refused to believe it wasnt bland, saying that no one else complained about it and that the chefs always try every meal they send in, which was not true because it was lacking in the most basic of seasoning, salt. She refused to take constructive criticism even after I complimented all the other dishes I ordered, and just walked away. When the lovely waiter that had served us the entire evening, came back to collect the payment, she mentioned that it would come out of her pay if we didnt pay for it, which was unbelievable as I never experienced something like this before. “The customer is always right” apparently not in this establishment.   Probably the worst food and service in my 2 months in Portugal, which drove me to write a review. Basically zero service, cold food- had to leave 90% of our meals, no cutlery given until we asked the 3rd waiter and even that took 15 minutes. We gave up on asking for ketchup/mayonnaise and salt/pepper as our requests were acknowledged and ignored, there was no point wasting more of the day and no sauce could have improved the food.   This was our second time visiting Windsurf Cafe. We had been a few days earlier to grab a cappuccino (which was good). We were looking to grab dinner and watch the sunset on the ocean.   Loved this place, will go back for sure. The view is amazing, indoor and outdoor seating to enjoy at all hours, with all temperatures. Good menu of sandwiches, burgers, wraps, salads, but try the appetizers!!!!! The fries are so particularly crunchy and good, the mayo sauce as well. Service good, young environment, atmosphere magical especially when close to the sunset. A full set of interesting pies and cheesecakes as well, coffe is also good. Chill music on point.   One star for the breathtaking view, one star for the decent interior. I would give half a star for the "okayish" vegetarian wrap my friend had, but since my "windsurf cafè burger" truly wasnt the slightest bit good I have to stick with two *. The fries never came anywhere near salt (seriously, my face was more salty after a walk by the sea than this potato dish) and the burger bun was flatout horrible, I couldnt eat it- dry and tasteless. Tomato also had no taste. Lettuce dry (remarkable). I got most excited about a tiny bit of taste because of the cheese. The best thing about my meal was the ginger ale. Its a tourist spot and I of course didnt expect top noche cuisine but this was truly an unneccesary dissapointment. Overpriced and poor in taste. Sorry... but touristy doesnt neccesairily has to mean bad. If you re not starving or desperately have to feed a kid instantly: just walk by.   We booked a specific table for 13:00 for three people 1,5hours earlier because we knew it would be busy. We arrived at 13:03 and saw our table being given to two people in front of us. After some attitude on our table not having been given to someone else - that would never happen! - we were finally seated. We waited a good while to order, which is totally ok because by this time there was a queue, and finally we ordered our food and drinks. Only two dishes came so we asked where the 3rd was and got an offended "Relax!" comment. A moment later, the staff was back stating that it would take 2-3 more minutes. We waited at least 15 minutes for those "2-4 minutes" and me and one of my friends were finished by the time the 3rd dish arrived. The order for the 3rd dish obviously did not go through for whatever reason but they never assumed the mistake. There was a lot of staff walking back and forth but they seemed disorganised. While we sat and ate, there was constantly a huge queue but there were at least 3 empty tables during the whole time, which beats me... The food was ok, nothing fancy though, but I would not go back because of the service.   We were a group of 20 people and despite we booked in advance they forgot our reservation and offer us to take whatever we wanted on the menu. After the lunch, the manager came and told us that they had prepared a specific menu for us and that we were obliged to pay both lunches. The problem is that she yelled at us like an insane person, saying "you are such a liars" "it is only your fault" and denying to talk in English (only in Portuguese which we don't understand). I think it is not the way to deal with clients, they showed us how unprofessional they are. At they end, we had to pay everything, even the same things two times!! apparently they have also the water prepared because we had to pay it two times. The worst is that the food was tasteless and some things were "pre-cooked". Avoid this place!
