  Wanted to make a reservation for New Years, tried to call their number and got no reply. Went there on the 30th to make a reservation in person, and the waiter told me they make no reservations and to show up on the next day. And so I did. On the 31st, at 7pm, I was told by another waiter that in fact they take reservations and was told to wait for a table. I'm writing this review mainly for the poor customer service towards this matter or better saying the lack of communication between employees.   I ate there 2 nights. 1st night i had €9 spaghetti..smallish plate of spaghetti..with thin gravy type and tomatoes sliced from a tin, as it seemed. Be honest, it was about edible..tasteless..watery..definitely not Italian..Portugal version i assume. 2nd night i thought i would go upmarket..studied the menus..try different..Taggittelle..errr..that's all it was with some sort of salty thin gravy..i couldn't eat it..a pig would have second thoughts.. attrocious..sent it back..just give me spaghetti..with finely chopped chills thats it..a plate of spaghetti..i looked at it and oh! Another of errr!. Managed to eat 1/3 and left it.. Ive eaten Italian in Italy (Napoli) uk and throughout the world..sorry but this is, what i had, not Italian i know. Not being insulting, but i can honestly say maybe, no definitely, the worse meals ive eaten..the taggittelle atrocious, horrible..the spaghetti just about edible if your starving. I hate to report on this type of thing as i have, but..i am a top Google guide and report on my travels throughout many countries and have eaten worldwide including, Tahiti, Figi, Australia, New Zealand etc etc. I like to give an objective appraisal.   We ate at this restaurant this evening and Roberto recommended the ‘special’ which consisted of steak & spaghetti for 2 people . Our error to trust this recommendation. It was spaghetti aglio/olio which has a price of €7.50! He also recommended a bottle of wine that cost €60, again our error for trusting he had our best interest at heart. I ordered a pizza as I couldn’t eat that meal the beef was as tough as old boots! We had a small bowl of cherry tomatoes supposedly our antipasto that cost €10.50. Worst meal ever! He didn’t show his face again as he knew we were disappointed. He sent another waiter who was very nice. I do not recommend this place Roberto just lost them a customer. It cost €131!!! I’m going to get a decent meal somewhere! Absolutely disgusted. Do not trust Roberto!   I am Italian in heritage so I generally do not like Italian restaurant food outside of Italy. Therefor, I ordered the grilled polvo that came with cabbage and potatoes. It was delicious. My husband who is anglo ate the pizza and he was satisfied. What made it for us was the super charming server who spoke Italian. I would recommend this place for North American or UK tourists/families who want something familiar.   Very disappointing. We came to the restaurant because the reviews were 4 stars, but honestly, the food is worth 2 stars. The pasta with truffle was swimming in oil and the carbonara had no seasoning and covered in cream. Even the starter, which was a plate of cheese, was quite disappointing. It was supposed to be a sharing plate but we only got a teaspoon of cheese. The service was ok, but when we told the server we didn’t like the food he did not react at all. I would not go again.   Really enjoyed a visit here. Six of us are here and all enjoyed the food. Our party of six included two vegans and one vegetarian. All were happy with their meals. They had outdoor seating and it was nice and sunny so we sat outside. They have a decent selection of wines - ordered a red bottle. For appetizers got a salad and the bruschetta - both were a welcome break from the heavy meats and seafoods the previous few days. We also got a vegetarian pizza that the two of us shared.   I have to admit when I am wrong. My first experience with Il Tartufo was disappointing. However, I went back in November 2021 and since then became better at knowing what to order. The favorite pizza is Il Diavola - pepperoni pizza 11,00 euros. Tiramisu is worth the 5 euros even though its a high price. NEW Years Eve I ordered Straccetti all Rucola which is Steak (bife da vazia) cut up on a bed of arugula with roasted potatoes and cabbage in a LARGE tray. its great for reheating and its enough food for 2 meals. Spaghetti Pomodoro is comforting and reliable. I did not like the ravioli or the lasagna. This is a common problem when you grow up in an Italian home and know how it tastes from scratch.   Sorry but the diner was just bad. I had Bella vista, pasta with lobster. But the lobster was really dry and tasted like bleach. So after 2 bites I just left it in tact.   The pasta are fresh made providing really good taste. The risotto is well made. The sauce with Mussel is way to salty if the chef can taste it before serving that would be great. The waiter was not professional at all. The waiter turned the others to engage another conversation right after asked me a question.   I came to a little town with a city feel. Coimbra. I have eaten food around the world. Hands down the best food in I have ever had. The pasta was soft and flavourful. Order the fresh pasta.   It's a nice Italian restaurant that, I think, is owned and run by the same people that run Italia, the restaurant by the river. The menu is pretty much identical in any case. Strong range of pizza, pasta, meat and fish dishes - all cooked perfectly competently. Very flavourful and enjoyable. The house red was a little thin to start, but improved with food. Prices are decent enough, expect to pay 15-20€ a head depending on wine and desserts. Given the choice, I would probably take Italia over Il Tartufo - the location is nicer and for me, the side dishes with my Saltimbocca alla Romana are nicer and slightly higher quality at Italia.   Italian restaurant with excellent service. If you are a lover of Italian food, you should give this resturant a try. The service is outstanding, the make their own gelato and offer pizza, fresh made pasta, and traditional pasta dishes. The menu is in Portuguse and English. My friend raves they make the best lasagna, but I had the shrimp pasta. The total cost of my meal was 18 euros. I had a caneta of beer (3 euros), the pasta with 4 or 5 large shrimp (13.50 euros) and a small scoop of gelato (1.50) euros. The serving size was appropriate, not large. The food was very good, the service excellent, and the price acceptable, but a bit more than you will pay at other restaurants. if you are in the mood for Italian, this restaurant is a good choice.   Me and my wife came in for dinner, and we wanted to sit at a table with sofa (which is supposedly big enough for four person). The restaurant was about half full, so we thought that might be ok. A staff told us we can’t sit there as there were only two of us and that seat was meant for four. Totally understand their consideration and we gladly moved to a small table, a bit cramp but acceptable. Minutes later they allowed a Caucasian couple sitting at the same place we wanted to sit. We, an Asian couple felt totally discriminated and mistreated. We love your food, and we have been here three times, but this is no way to treat your customer. So, if you guys want a good Italian food in Coimbra, this is probably the place to be. But if you expect a restaurant which treat their customers equally and fairly, this is probably not the place to visit. Anyway, there are many good places to go in Coimbra for dinner.   Came across this restaurant as the kitchen didn’t close at out of meal hours. Very surprise as they serve very delicious pasta with very reasonable price. I have to say it’s one of the best meal I have in Portugal, non Portuguese meal per say. I came back more than once, and also tried fish soup which is very nice.   It’s Portugal so we wanted Portuguese food, but being Sunday evening a couple of places we tried were closed so we went to this Italian restaurant instead. Italian owner or manager was kind of pushy which was a bit annoying, but we had a good meal there. Good Insalata Mista (mixed salad €5) , vegetarian pizza (€9) was tasty and had plenty of vegetables, pasta with vegetables- Tagliatella Vegetariana (€9.50) was a bit oily but good. For dessert we had the “Misto Della Casa Dolce” (€6.50) which was a huge plate with four different desserts: a choice of gelato flavors-we picked chocolate; panna cotta; Tiramisu; kiwi slices with whipped cream. They were very good. Don’t get it though unless you are sharing as it’s big. Enough for 2-4 people. They have a big wine list both Portuguese and Italian. We just had a half bottle (.375 liters) of the house wine which was an Italian red (€6) which tasted fine. The service was good and we had a good meal. Acabamos de tomar meia garrafa (0,375 litros) do vinho da casa, que era um tinto italiano (€ 6) que tinha um gosto bom. O serviço foi bom e tivemos uma boa refeição.
