Love this place and will return over and over again.   Went to a few place to eat “Espetada” the traditional Madeirense BBQ. This was by far the nicest place and definitely the nicest meat. We had chicken wing as a starter together with some poncha regional which was both delicious. The seasoning on the chicken was very good then we moved to meat on the bone espetada and that was so delicious!   Very tasty espatadas among the best I've have in Madeira. Can't really fault the food, limited menu but it does it so well that it doesn't really need anything else. Would be a 5/5 but I felt the salad and chips sides were a little bit too pricey for what they were. Stick to the espetada and milho Frito and you will have a good time!   Best estepada we had so far. Highly recommended. We went twice during our stay in Madeira. They also have a very nice selection of wines. Plenty of parking spaces in front and at the back of the resto. They don't take reservations but we did have any issues finding a free table around 7.30pm both times.   There was ample parking behind the restaurant. Truly a fantastic dining experience. It wasn't too casual or too formal. We ordered a skewered beef on a laurel branch (espetada em pau de louro), the fried maize cubes (milho frito), small French fries (banana frito), traditional loaf garlic bread (bolo de caco c/ manteiga de alho), and a small salad. Everything was fantastic, well seasoned, and flavorful. Steak was delicious and the perfect temp. The maize cubes were crispy on the outside and creamy and delicious on the inside, seemed similar to a fried polenta. The French fries were also perfectly cooked, crispy outside with just the right amount of pillows potatoes inside, and seasoned with garlic. The traditional loaf garlic bread had a nice crust. Even the salad was perfect with full slices of ripe tomatoes accompanied with cucumber and onion slices on a bed of leafy lettuce with just the right amount of vinegar and oil. Portions were large and we didn't finish the French fries or the maize cubes, but did finish our meal with an espresso and we shared a slice of the Romantico ice cream. Até a salada ficou perfeita com rodelas inteiras de tomate maduro acompanhadas de rodelas de pepino e cebola sobre uma cama de folhas de alface com a quantidade certa de vinagre e azeite. As porções eram grandes e não terminamos as batatas fritas nem os cubos de milho, mas terminamos a refeição com um expresso e dividimos uma fatia de sorvete Romantico.

The difference between the traditional and the regular is that the treditional has bay laurel and its on a wooden stick vs a stainless steel. We like the standard better.   Overall very good expirience. Food was very tasty and massvie portions! Sadly there were no vegetarian or fish options in mains but the restaurant's speciality is meet so it's understandable. I'm giving 4 stars just because once we enterend straight after trekking the waiter gave us very judging look and wasn't nice (probably because restaurant is trying so badly to be posh).   Beautiful location. The food was below expectations for sure. The chicken skewers were of whole chicken pieces instead of small bite size pieces like the beef. The beef was better but even that barley had any colour on it, it was almost greyish. The fries were delicious though.   A personal recommendation from a good friend who is a Madeiran native. We arrived at the end of lunch service. There was space for us as we hadn't booked. Restaurant was pretty full and busy with locals which is great to see. Menu is pretty focused on what they do well. The beef on skewers was delicious. If you wanting to try the traditional Madeira food with the Espetada “cube pieces of meat on the stick,” this is the number one spot on the island to go! Not to forget about all the amazing fresh dishes that comes alongside with it. Like your meat well done or maybe rare? Just let them know and you won’t be disappointed in the slightest with the flavors. Just the thought alone is making hungry already!! There are no bookings because of how busy they constantly are which surely says a lot!! Both the owners and their staff are super friendly and very welcoming. For myself, they already like family. Special mention to Amaro and Alvaro who have been there for many years and always go out their way to make sure we always well served and looked after.   This restaurant deserves the fantastic rating it already has. Our food was incredible. So far it’s been the best meal we have had on the island. The espetada with the bone in was some of the best and most juicy steak we have ever eaten and we also enjoyed the chicken espetada which was pieces of chicken on a skewer was also just incredible. Definitely a must visit restaurant. I also loved their fries that came with a bit of garlic. There was enough parking at the top of the restaurant and it was great that they did not take any bookings.   It is 5 out of 5 or 10 out of 10 place to eat. We have tried local espetada grilled on laurel twig and their authentic bread with garlic. We asked for medium rare and we received medium rare cooked beef. Bread was amazing and the main dish exceeded our expectations. Place has nice view as inside as outside. Only thing, that we were in February, they were not busy at all and we had to go the bar to make an order, there was only one table occupied so I guess at the season time they provide better service than we have experienced.   A friend suggested this place and we didn’t missed the chance to try it. After a long day exploring the island this was the best reward possible. Not that easy to reach but nothing in Madeira is easy to reach! The specialty here is espetada, beef skewer. Delicious soft meet covered with garlic (if you don’t like garlic don’t even come to Portugal!), amazing and tasty fried polenta (corn meal mushed) and lattice with tomatoes and onions as a side.   What a great, amazing discovery this restaurant represented in our stay in Madeira. After a mesmerizing trek, we found this restaurant while searching google maps for beef laurel skewer. In one word, their laurel skewer is the tastiest! The beef is incredibly soft and well seasoned, moreover it is grilled in a wood oven, that you can admire just behind the counter.   It is a place for locals with a fantastic price\value! It is getting really crowded on weekends. The food is exceptional.. We tried the beef and chicken with salad and fries.   Known by locals (recommended by many) for the best regional espetada (meat on a stick) - and it definitely was delicious!!! Restaurant is beautiful, a very tricky parking situation to get in and out of but does have it's own parking lot. We went for late lunch around 2pm and it was just us and a few locals. Must try!!   This would’ve been 5 stars but our service started off REALLY slow. We were not really welcomed by a host as they thought we were with the couple that walked in before us. Once the host came back, he seated us in his confusion. We then sat and waited for someone to wait on us for nearly 15 minutes while other tables around us were seated and served food. All that being said, once our order was taken, the food was as good as everyone else has commented. Flavors were delicious and the food was cooked to order. Note: because the food is cooked to order, if you choose to order chicken, expect to wait 20 minutes. Would we go back? Absolutely.
