  There's no way we would normally have gone there. An Austrian Composer themed restaurant in Madeira? We'd had a recommendation from an acquaintance so we gave it a try, superb in so many ways. The execution of their menu was exquisite, we had the 49 Euro inclusive per head menu and the value was exceptional, the wine was well tailored and from the amuse bouche to the Chocolate Fondant everything was a point.   This was an extraordinary experience and a very good one. Don't be confused about the look from outside and the man in the mozart costume. Excellent good diner. We started early in an empty restaurant but we experienced that many regular guest visited this place. We will be back.   Great restaurant, a true find that I didn't expect in the most touristy part of town. First of all the atmosphere is unique with live classic music and staff attire. Secondly are the dishes that were all as incredible to taste and well presented. Welcome glass of sparkling wine easily makes it #1 choice for me in Funchal.   We booked quite late and got a table through The Fork (which gave us 30 per cent off the bill). We ordered the steak (juicy and delicious) and the noir linguine (succulent, delicious, creamy). The staff were lovely. They have great recommendations, arranged a taxi home and we’re generally lovely. If you’re in Madeira - check it out!   Had a brilliant meal last night. We ordered then sat with a wine waiting for our meal. We realised we had parked at La Vie and it was due to close. Discussed with the waiter who served the food and he rang the mall to checked closing time. We enjoyed the delicious food then a member of staff took one of our party in the Mozart car to collect our car. He returned and we all enjoyed desert and coffee.   Nice menu system. You pay a certain amount like 11.90 and you get a full course with starter and coffee at the end with a whole bottle of water of your choice (fizzy or still). The restaurant and its name was kind of drawing us in since we are living in Austria. Eventhough the system is nice and the restaurant looks great the food was kind of plain. Risotto was lacking the butter and the parmezan cheese. The filled ravioli was made with frozen spinach to make the sauce. Price was surprisingly good and i guess because of the quality. Another thing to mention that they didn’t have asparagus for the risotto and suggested courgette instead. I went only with mushrooms. Waiter was super nice and we had a nice chat with him.   Our appetizer took 40 minutes. We waited over 2 hours for our food, and the restaurant wasn’t even busy. At least 3 parties that arrived over a half hour after us were eating dessert before we got our meal. After 2 hours I asked to pay for our appetizer so we could leave and they refused because our food was “on the way”. Still took an additional 15 minutes. My wife started crying because she felt our last evening was ruined. It was our last night in Funchal and we just wanted to have a nice dinner. We left upset and felt like they wasted our entire evening. They did apologize and offer us a free lemon ice tea. Saímos chateados e sentimos que eles desperdiçaram a noite inteira. Eles pediram desculpas e nos ofereceram um chá gelado de limão grátis. Foi de longe a nossa refeição mais cara em 2 semanas na Madeira e a pior também.

  The restaurant was under staffed so the service was poor. The waitress was argumentative, the woman received main course before men had completed their starters and then had to wait almost an hour for their main course. The men’s main courses had been sitting on the side waiting to be served and consequently were cold and inedible.We we’re told they only serve food on demand!!!! Not a good experience BUT the sister restaurant Martucci which we ate in two nights earlier was excellent.   Had a great lunch here for €11.90 garlic bread, choice of main course, a drink and coffee. Same excellent cuisine that we have experienced here for dinner. Be sure to come back and have their formula menu in the evening which is probably some of the best food in Funchal.   Sadly, when we arrived at Mozarts, the man who greeted us was a little abrupt to my partner, who commented, "he must be the owner with that attitude"! It turns out he wasn't, and on reading other reviews, it wasn't just us who had that welcome! He did warm up a little throughout the evening, and the restaurant did redeemed themselves somewhat with the food to be fair. All the food was beautifully presented. My starter, the crispy prawns was delicious, my main wasn't particularly nice though, some fish I hadn't tried before. The Snickers fondant dessert was one of the highlights of the evening; if you love delicious "showcase" desserts, you will love it! It also came with ice cream, fruit and a small amount of sweet sauce. It looked like it would be really sickly sweet, but somehow they managed to create a dessert that didn't make your teeth rattle. They had an offer on, which was very good value, 45 Euros (if I remember correctly) for three courses, unlimited wine and coffee. There was music playing from surprise, surprise Mozart, and the décor was dotted with things from that kind of music style. All in all, it was a pleasant evening.   Very disappointed with this place. I ordered a fish soup as a starter and I was very excited to eat it but unfortunately found a huge long black hair in it which put me off completely. Only had one person apologise and they didn’t even as a gesture remove the bill for the soup. They only gave a glass of red wine on the house.   Unobtrusive restaurant in old city with very friendly and pleasent staff. Absolutely delicious food with perfect and beautiful serving. We got fish soup like a starter, main course grilled white grouper and baked dourada with prawns. In the end we had incredible chocolate fondant (best we ever had).   Sadly this review isn't what is was going to be. My main was a very solid 4, good tasty wholesome food. The wine we were recommended was bland but drinkable. The 2 star finish comes from dessert. A crème brûlée where the cream split and was then replaced with another that was split. We were then told we just didn't know enough about the dessert to judge it properly. Oh dear. We went on a Sunday evening and had their 3 course option; in actual fact, this was 5 courses as both an amuse bouche and a pallet cleanser were offered, all paired with wines and all in all, could not have been more perfect. I had the quail symphony; absolutely devine - the richness of the quail and the smoothness of the foie gras offset against the complexity of the pear and dark chocolate. I took the Marx as a main; succulent scabbard fish butterflied and sandwiching a tomato sauce; a non traditional take on the local favourite that really gave a new dimension to the fish. Desert was also spectacular; a fondant on a peanut and crumb base; the chocolate filling perfectly melted yet not overpoweringly rich. A lovely restaurant with amazing staff who truly care about you enjoying your meal and put their hearts and souls into their service and food.   Unfortunately I have to disagree with most reviews. They have a vegan option in the menu, which I was very happy about as it was a tofu dish, and not the usual “mushroom risotto”. The dish, however, is not only unimaginative but tastes only of vegetable stock. The accompanying vegetables taste exactly the same, making the dish completely lacking of any real flavour. The texture is also not good, soggy all around. The vegan amouse bouche was 3 pieces of fruit and it tasted like fish (for a vegan)!!!!! I assume it was stored near fish... My parents had fish, and, although they said the fish itself wasn’t bad, they didn’t like the garnish. The violin was too loud and no Mozart was played.   Music to my Ears: A Great Meal at a Great Price - Funchal is the capital of Madeira; an autonomous region of Portugal known for its wine, warm tropical climate, and soccer player Cristiano Ronaldo. After a day in the city, we happened upon Restaurante Mozart. Simon, the maitre de, lead us to our table with a warm welcome and provided us with an extensive menu. We picked the multi-course prix fixe meal (I think there were five courses) with wine and we could not have been happier about our choice. Based on the quality of the food and the service the 39€ per person was a reasonable price. I do recommend a visit when you are in Funchal.   This place is deservedly holding one of the top restaurant slots if you speak to anyone who has previously visited the island. Their food is better than any meal you’ll find at the “Cris” restaurants and because at least here the reception is warm and genuine. I cannot rate this highly enough.   YUM. Couldn't get enough of this place. It's has a different theme but it really works. Went to a few of the michelin star restaurants on the island but this definitely topped it.   We made a reservation for dinner at this restaurant during our holiday in Madeira, to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The nice young lady who took our reservation (please see uploaded photo), together with other staff, went to a lot of trouble to decorate our table with rose petals, special table cloths, cutlery, and glassware, and, in short, made this occasion a very unique dinner out for us both. The 8 course meal we had was very reasonably priced, and was of excellent quality! The staff was very professional and friendly... my compliments to Miguel our waiter, (please see uploaded photo), and certainly the cook and kitchen staff!
