  We tried out Ashoka in Lagos, Portugal during our holiday and it was amazing! The dal makhni was creamy and flavorful, and the sag paneer was deliciously spiced. The naan bread was soft and the pilau rice was fragrant, the only concern for onion bhaji is that i feel its much salty for me, other dishes are just wow…The restaurant had a nice vibe and the staff was friendly. If you're in Lagos and craving some Indian food, Ashoka is definitely worth a visit!   The service was good but the food was disappointing. I had a prawn curry and there was a lot of water on the plate and the curry fell off the prawns as it was thin and watery.   Went here for Sunday lunch with my daughter, it was around 1PM, this is a very nice restaurant with a cozy atmosphere. Only another couple was there having lunch. The service was very nice and so is the restaurant. As for the food, I think they could do better. The Samosa seemed to have been freshly made, however it did not have the flavor profile typical to samosas that I am accustomed to. Also the biryani wasn't typical to what I am accustomed. For those who are familiar with Lipton's packaged rice / pasta with flavorings, the biryani closer to Lipton's Spanish Rice with chicken. As for the Butter Chicken, this was delicious. No complaints.   We didn’t have good experience. Parathas were too hard..didn’t expect that. Do not buy any lassi here. We tried both mango lassi and sweet lassi and turned out to be very bad. Waiter scared me a little by telling me the lamb Vindaloo was super spicy, which it was, but a Vindaloo level spicy and not something more crazy than normal. I am glad I had the mango lassi and sparkling water on standby. I loved it. My wife, who is newer to Indian cuisine, had the butter chicken and she said it was creamy and very good.   This is honestly the best tasting Indian food I've ever had! I haven't been to India, so can't speak to authenticity, but from everywhere I've been in North America and Europe, this was the tastiest I've ever had... so much so that I'll be there turning the very next day to try more! Extensive vegetarian options available too - even moreso than most places! Although I wish the outdoor setting was a little more scenic, the indoor atmosphere is lovely, and the service warm and friendly. This is a minor thing that has a huge impact on the whole experience. This is not to say that the food was not to our liking - it was great.   Nice place, good quality food but little bit overpriced for drinks, side dishes and starters. Staff was nice but I guess they had some staff problem as there were only 2 waiters for everything including drinks prep and it wasnt enough for 3/4 full restaurant. But they tried their best.   Worst dinner I have ever eaten and not worth the price at all. The chicken tikka masala tasted nothing like an authentic one and was way too creamy. The rice was flavourless and chewy and the garlic naan was definitely not naan, it was more like a garlic pizza bread that had been cooked to a crisp. Also the poppadoms didn’t come with the sauce that they were supposed to come with. Stay well clear of this place. I’d recommend the restaurant next door (Alma Lusa) as we had a delicious meal there.   Didn’t love it. The butter chicken was oddly sweet. The mango lassie was super thin. Tasted like it was made with powdered milk instead of yogurt. Had virtually no mango in it. The prawn bhuna was good. Got basmati rice and a multicolored variation of basmati rice that didn’t really add any flavor. I wouldn’t bother with it again. The veggie samosas were also not great.   This restaurant doesnt even deserve 1 star. I ordered Dahl Tarka and my husband ordered Lamb Tikka Masala. Both dishes had no flavor, the lamb bits were hard and overcooked, the sauce tasted like they added ketchup to it. The Dahl Tarka was tasteless, I could have opened a can of lentils at home and poured them over rice and they would have tasted better. The Naan bread had no flavor either, just greasy flat bread.   This has been the best Indian food I have ever had. We have all really enjoyed eating here and the staff are lovely and accommodating. With two vegans, a vegetarian and two meat eaters we aren't the easiest group to feed. But this restaurant made sure our meals were perfect.   Hands down the worst Indian food ive ever eaten. Reviews made it seem alright, i tried it twice considering I was staying close and both times was absolutely disgusting. Chefs have no idea how to cook Indian food, literally just making it up. Don’t usually write bad reviews but can’t help myself with this one.   Wow. A hidden gem under the apparency of a maybe a little outdated restaurant. Don't let it fool you, it's one of the best Indian tandooris I've ever tasted, period. And curries were spectacular as well, served with aromatized rice and very well done paratha bread. Try it, is the kind of food you expect from much more pricy restaurants at main cities.   Brilliant food. Absolutely amazing. Portions(quantity) was quite good and prices were also decent. The taste was as authentic as a restaurant in India. We were skeptical to try at first, but ended up going everyday there, till i was in Lagos. Really liked the dishes, and ofcourse, mango lassi. Biryani, even though, was good in taste, contained almonds, raisins etc (which I don't prefer). Our one of top 3 choices for authentic INDIAN food in Europe. As porções (quantidade) eram muito boas e os preços também eram decentes. O sabor era tão autêntico quanto um restaurante na Índia. No começo estávamos céticos em tentar, mas acabamos indo todos os dias para lá, até chegar a Lagos. Gostei muito dos pratos e, claro, manga lassi. O Biryani, porém, tinha bom gosto, continha amêndoas, passas etc. (o que eu não prefiro). Nossa uma das 3 melhores opções de comida indiana autêntica na Europa.
