  Excelente, em uma palavra. Menu único, com três petiscos e quatro pratos. Nos petiscos, uma memorável pele de lúcio torrada com nêspera, um caldo de cogumelos e alguns picles. Os principais, yacon e morangos, surpreendem; um delicioso lúcio, acabado de cozer, com espargos brancos e verdes; acelga e ervilha com queijo da serra, saboroso e delicado, e um lombo ibérico com nêspera e bolota, muito delicioso. De sobremesa, um chocolate com sal e sorvete, diferente e pedindo mais. É alta gastronomia, ou “fine dining”, mas com diferenças significativas. Abandone as 12, 14 ou 16 passagens, cheias de sabores, explosões na boca, mas não o suficiente para uma segunda colherada. Aqui não. Os pratos, sem serem excessivos, são suficientes para serem saboreados. Parabéns ao Chef @george.a.mcleod sócio fundador. A sala, gerida pela outra sócia @lara.espiritosanto, funciona perfeitamente, com uma equipa profissional e simpática, e destaco a María e o sommelier Baptiste que, além de saber, indica o preço das garrafas, "rara avis" .

  We had a wonderful night at SEM. Everyone was so nice and the service was excellent. Even from the reservation the staff was very attentive to detail. We were dining for more than two hours which was not ideal. The dining was great, we enjoyed all the dishes and couldn’t complain about the food. A very unique food experience. The only reason I haven’t rated 5 stars is the bar. We chose to have cocktails that night and we tried each one from the menu. You can tell the bar is just not run by a very experienced bartender. My first drink was weak in flavor and very light on the alcohol. The second was stronger but again, not a balanced cocktail - it just wasn’t complex or interesting. I even asked for an old-fashioned and they could not make one. That’s a basic bar drink. We did love the experience and the food and service was the best! Você pode dizer que o bar não é administrado por um barman muito experiente. Minha primeira bebida tinha sabor fraco e muito pouco álcool. O segundo foi mais forte, mas, novamente, não foi um coquetel equilibrado - simplesmente não era complexo ou interessante. Até pedi um antiquado e não conseguiram fazer. Essa é uma bebida básica de bar. Adoramos a experiência e a comida e o serviço foram os melhores!

  One of the best meals we had in Portugal! The dishes were creative, the vibe was cozy and relaxed, and the wine pairings were perfect.   Not to my taste at all. I liked two dishes out of the taster menu which is a pretty low hit rate. Two delicious dishes but the rest were very unremarkable. Also very draughty in the place, certainly where I sat. If there wasn’t a big lump of bread included I would have been quite hungry at the end.   Whilst this restaurant may appeal from its seasonal and local choices as well as great sommelier, the set menu is not shown on their website and some dishes and flavours were not to our taste (shitake, mix of sweet and sour) and we indicated it at the start that the website is not fully transparent. We were pressed to a counter space by the bar near the entrance which was very uncomfortable. The staff substituted the dishes we didn't like but it shouldn't be the case that we have to force a restaurant to change their dishes simply because of taste, it should be clear from before booking what the chef is putting on the plate otherwise it makes for a bad experience when half the menu is not appealing. One set menu (vegetarian vs meat) without a la carte is not flexible too, especially for a restaurant that hasn't been awarded any Michelin stars. Overall it was a bad experience, which doesn't give credit to the chefs talent and the potential of the place.   Lovely experience. This location only has a set tasting menu. For the price I believe it’s worth it. The dishes are more tasting portions but by the end I left satisfied. Everything was thoughtful and delicious, what i appreciated was they care more for the experience of how the food is eaten/tastes vs. presentation (even though everything was beautiful.) there was one dish in particular that had a blanket of potato cheese which hid the beautiful ingredients that were underneath. we were sat near the open kitchen and got to see the chefs at work. (1000% opposite of the bear) staff was meticulous at work and it was like watching a ballet. my favorite part was watching the pork get cooked. made my mouth water the whole time. entire meal took around 2 hours. highly recommend if you have some extra money and time to enjoy a meal like this.   Daria 10 estrelas se possível; fomos no dia do meu aniversário, completamente sem plano e sem saber o que esperar porque não conhecemos a cena de restaurantes em Setúbal. Fomos recebidos calorosamente, atendidos com toda a atenção e cuidado, e ainda tive direito a uma velinha de aniversário na minha sobremesa, e um cartão manuscrito da equipa.   Superb eatery. Very professional introduction and welcome from Chris. Menu fully explained. Had the pleasure of watching George(head chef) employing his art in food preparation and presentation.   This place took us by surprise. I’ve been to 3, 2, and 1 star Michelin restaurants all around the world, and though this place didn’t spend 10 days turning our dessert into a chocolate statue of David, I’ve got to say the food was amazing. The service was easily 1 Michelin star, and the food even more. The Mini Bar had more technically difficult dishes, but this tasted way better. The star of the show, the sommelier.   Underrated gem of a restaurant. Really cute location and the atmosphere was so vibrant and welcoming when we walked in -- as was the staff. Tasting menu experience, but not for a crazy price - and all the food was creative, interesting, and delicious. Special shoutout to our waitress, Kris (not sure on spelling, sorry!!) who was a treat the whole evening, both in telling us about the food, guiding us through the drinks, and giving us recommendations in Lisbon!   We had a fantastic experience at Sem. The tasting menu was different, exciting and so tasty. The menu challenges your tastes with uncommon flavours which are a delight in the somewhat dull cuisine landscape in Portugal. The staff are well trained, knowledge and on top of their game. We had a combination of vegetarian and gluten free people in our party and it was a pleasure to be served correctly every time with tasty alternatives to the main menu. Well done the Sem team.   Nice sultry environment, perfect for a date night, the service was very good and attentive, but the food, although beautifully presented was lacking in taste and substance - especially at the hefty (by local standards at least) price tag that goes with the price fixe tasting menu. The retired beef was probably the highlight taste wise, but whilst my table mates got 3 small slices of perfectly cooked meat - they decided it was appropriate to serve me what was clearly the last piece they had - a very dried out end piece that was almost inedible. For a restaurant with ambitions to charge at this price point, I found that pretty unforgivable. And when that was pointed out to the team, the feedback was summarily ignored - very disappointing - especially with our expectations high from having read so many good reviews on them. The wine selection likewise lacked any real quality - again, in a country like Portugal that has so many top quality wines all around - there should be more effort taken to select truly outstanding wines for the price point at which they want to sell these bottles at. All in all not a place I would come back to - there are simply much better meals in Lisbon easily available.   The whole experience was superb. Each course brought a provocative and delicious organoleptic experience that we can still remember. The restaurant’s reductive philosophy, where the chefs and collaborators adhere to clean and highly sustainable processes, is always evident in the purity of the flavours. Whilst we didn’t go with wine pairings for each dish, we were helped to choose some excellent bottles off the wine list from different parts of Portugal.   Unfortunately we were too late to eat here during our stay in Lisbon, but the food looked amazing. We did enjoy some difference wines here which were superb. We could convince them to give us only the desserts which were really good. Hope to have the full experience the next time I visit Lisbon.   We were recommended this place by a friend. So it’s a very nice, cozy space. They only have fixed course menu so be warned. For 60euro it’s not bad. My gripe is that the dishes were minimalist to the extreme. Many dishes at the beginning were small and though they may be a lot of work to prepare they just didn’t have a unique or interesting flavor that makes you want to eat more of it. Some dishes were just interesting take on root vegetables which doesn’t seem to stand on their own as a single dish. The best dish was probably the fish—I wish there was just more of it. The beef was tender but was on the sweet side. The whole experience purposely took 2 hours and I think it should have completed in 1.5 hours or less given how small the dishes were. Most of the time we were just waiting for our next dish to arrive. The last thing that rubbed me the wrong way was the suggested tip on the card reader from 10-20% when we were paying. They’re bringing the bad American culture here. In summary, space wise it was great, dishes need more refinement to stand on their own especially when served in such small portions, service was acceptable.   I cannot say enough wonderful things about Sem. It was by far the best food I’ve ever had in my entire life, complied with the most wonderful experience and incredible drinks. Each person that works there is kind, passionate and extremely knowledgeable. Their view on food, the craft of cooking and the pairings of drinks is unmatched. When doing the tasting definitely opt in for the drinks too, you won’t get the full experience without that. I certainly suggest reading their website and following their instagram to get a full idea as to how they eliminate food waste, use no single use plastic and create the epitome of the farm to table experience.   Loved our meal here last night. Each course was seasonal, refined, fresh, and perfectly paired with wine. The service was attentive, the staff were knowledgeable, and ambience was very special with the open kitchen.   I had dinner here with a friend on a Sunday. We had no reservation, but they gave us a table straight away. We chose the seasonal tasting menu and since my friend is vegetarian, they were able to change some of the dishes. The food was really amazing. Very nicely balanced flavours, unusual ingredients.   COSTLY DISAPPOINTMENT! We made a reservation on Monday for the tasting menu dinner on Friday with a specific note that one guest is allergic to shell fish and doesn't eat pork. The confirmation email states they will accommodate guests as well as possible or contact us. As we didn't receive an email or phone call we arrived on Friday for an experience. First the server announced she understood the dietary restrictions but would replace the 2 dishes with other vegetables. I am not a vegetarian but was only offered a fairly vegan meal with no protein option at the same price. The server apologized and said she would bring me a glass of bubbles. To add insult to injury she served me an unfiltered white wine that fizzed when she poured it but it was NOT bubbly. There was one course that was lovely with some mushrooms but it was over shadowed by this restaurants poor delivery of a dining experience for anyone who can't eat shell fish or pork. To say you focus on sustainability but don't have options available for a guest who provides you with ample preparation time is in fact the opposite.   SEM é antes de mais um conceito (agricultura regenerativa, redução máxima de todos os resíduos e utilização de plástico, etc.) que representa um enorme desafio para a gastronomia. Para começar pela parte simples: o atendimento foi simples, ultra profissional e eficiente, e caloroso também. Música perfeita (pelo menos para o meu gosto). O ambiente super agradável: os quartos são pequenos e por isso ajudam no convívio. Quanto ao menu único de 7 pratos: 1/3 foram excelentes, 1/3 interessantes e bons (agradáveis ​​surpresas no sorvete de bétula, por exemplo), 1/3 um pouco decepcionante (faltando um pouco de complexidade para o meu gosto). Todo o menu é uma experiência que vale a pena ter. Levei também a harmonização de comida e vinho o que me decepcionou um pouco: os vinhos naturais eram interessantes por si só, mas não entendi a harmonização com os pratos.   Fomos recebidos em inglês e apesar de não ser muito importante para mim, achei estranho estar em Lisboa e quase ninguém falar português. Felizmente a sommelier francesa, falava português e fez o esforço de falar sempre em português connosco, só isso valeu uma estrela. Em relação ao menu e ao wine pairing, achei que as porções eram demasiado pequenas e apenas um dos pratos tinha carne sendo que os demais eram vegetais, o que faz com que o preço seja excessivo, na minha humilde opinião. Os melhores pratos resultaram ser o prato de cogumelos colhidos em Sintra, a salada de dióspiros e a sobremesa, muito boa mesmo. Em relação aos vinhos, todos experimentais, sem grande corpo, mas interessantes e bem selecionados. Staff muito simpático e atencioso, mas falta algo na comida para me deixar com vontade de voltar.

  Amazing set menu experience! We had specific allergy and dietary requirements and they were very accommodating, adjusting every dish if needed or providing alternative (let them know in advance so they can plan).   Honestly I got really disappointed… Staff is really nice, the place is cool, but the food was really average. Each dish was missing a real connection between ingredients. The philosophy of zero waste , sustainability, fair trade , organic working with local producers , ethics about allowing animals to grow old and still making great dishes using an older animal who has been well cared for ( the night we were there we ate steak from a 14 year old cow who had led a good life on an organic farm in Portugal working with the seasonal products only , making great use of fermented food ( their kombuchas are amazing not like the commercial products one can buy ) the fermented drinks vegetables line the walls of the restaurant . Great natural organic wines all add up to an exciting and very special dining experience The atmosphere is relaxed yet the team are highly professional and knowledgeable, their is an open kitchen , so no secrets . Lisbon you are lucky to have such a restaurant. It’s a tasting menu and it is I think really incredible value 45 euros without wine and 65 with wine to accompany each course .   This is an absolute gem in Lisbon. It's worth the trek (we walked it) if you're not in the Alfama area. George and Lara (and the rest of the team) are really doing great things here. From the fantastic natural wine selection, to how far they are pushing fermentation and no waste food they are incorporating into their dishes, this is definitely pretty unique to the Lisbon area. The menu changes, but the consistent theme is exceptional and unexpected combinations, with a specialty in fermentation. As an example, one of our favorite dishes was a kogee rice and squid dish with a spruce sauce. It worked wonderfully, the rice and squid cooked to such perfection you could hardly tell where one ended and the other began. The spruce was off the map of the acid-base binary, plumbing new depths of flavor hitherto unknown. Their wines are equal to the food, we had a chance to speak with their resident expert and it's obvious he puts tremendous time and care into his work, picking excellent local, environmentally friendly pairings. I particularly liked the Domino Foxtrot, a "rose" so dark it would make most reds blush.   Had a pleasant evening at SEM tonight with my beautiful date (although they stuck us in the wine room with the other peasants). The food was delicious and extremely creative. The homemade sourdough's soft and light interior was complimented perfectly by its crunchy and hard exterior. The bread was also too kind and decided to invite their friend "Miso Butter" to join the party. My absolute favorite part of the meal however was the lamb, potato and blackberry combination. Could not have asked for a better way to tie a knot on my Lisbon experience.   SEM brings two ideas to mind. Firstly, a restaurant where the story sells the food, and not a restaurant where the food sells the story. Basically, the storytelling around their mission and the way they present it is meant to sell the food despite the food not being worth telling a story about. Secondly, they prioritize "innovative" food over food that actually tastes good. They experiment with flavors that are meant to feel avant-garde but end up just tasting "off." Most of the food was extremely forgettable and the only things that stuck with me were the dishes that were truly train wrecks. There was a lamb dish that basically was 90% fat/gristle and a sad carrot puree. A corvina dish that I felt was basically mayonnaise that was mixed with chewy fish.   Pretentious. This may be some of the worst food I’ve had on a tasting menu. Typically, at least one dish redeems the menu, here not a single dish was above average. The staff explained the different flavours and elements beautifully but the flavours themselves lacked balance or let’s be honest, flavour. The fish tasted like mayonnaise with fish, the beans were supposed to be al dente but were inedible, the lamb smelled delicious but was tough and fatty, the butter that was cured for 6 months just tasted like sour butter.   I really wanted to love this place. Atmosphere was nice and cozy and the staff was very nice. It was also cool to have a direct view of the chefs and the kitchen. I found the food to be a bit underwhelming taste wise (maybe it was just the menu for the specific night I went?). The explanation of the way each dish was prepared sounded very intricate but the flavors didn't exactly come through for me. The white wine that was recommended for the menu that night was also a miss for me. Portion wise, I think the dishes were a bit on the small side (I acknowledge it was a "tasting" menu, but during my trip I had been to other restaurants and had their tasting menus and left quite full), I still felt a bit hungry at the end of the dinner.   It was ok for tourists not for Portuguese people, I found it very pricey for what u get, Quality, the food made from scratch it was cold in one side of the dish and wait for ages just for a sausage roll, it’s was good but small amount of food, environment dark, no glamour for the price, not even one candle on the table to make it nice.   I will try to be professional even I much liked the team and the atmosphere. That's 100% sure that these guys have built a cosy place with really friendly service. I can note that they are searching their way, experiencing new ingredients like Latin American products, creating some new tastes like blending white chocolate with extra virgin olive oil. Unfortunately, they are still on the way. Most of the courses look unaccomplished, the idea is good but the realization is raw. The wine pairing is awful. I don't know why guys have focused on bio and biodynamic wines but at the beginning of 2022 the matra telling about sustainable approach, magic manual grape picking process, bio maturation and bla-bla-bla, doesn't explain the unbalanced tannins in Georgian wine or the absence of taste depth in the range of white wines proposed to guests. I hope my note will push guys to redesign some things as the Lisbon restaurant market looks quite competitive and doesn't give a chance to have many mistakes.   Fui com muita expectativa ao restaurante SEM. A proposta é incrível, o ambiente super descontraído, carta de vinhos naturais EXCEPCIONAL, mas definitivamente os pratos não corresponderam a nada disso. Estivemos em 4 pessoas e em momento algum do nosso jantar tivemos aquele "hmmmm que gostoso". Foi tudo ok. Achamos as porções demasiadamente pequenas e não ficamos satisfeitos, comemos em outro lugar após sair do SEM. Ao entregarem os pratos na mesa, as explicações eram demoradíssimas, algo bastante inconveniente. Compreendo que é um restaurante que acabou de abrir, e tem uma proposta bastante ousada e inovadora para Portugal, e que há muito o que crescer. Mas se fosse julgar só por essa experiência, eu não recomendaria. A carta de vinhos é absolutamente superior a estrutura do sabor de tudo que comemos lá.. inclusive, as sobremesas foram a pior parte. Gostaria de futuramente retornar ao SEM e ser surpreendida com pratos realmente saborosos.

  Acontece que quando você espia um lugar pela rua você percebe uma “vibração”, um sinal de que há algo interessante ali. E sem saber por quê, às vezes se faz uma grande descoberta. Entramos neste pequeno restaurante por acaso e saímos com ótimas recordações, e com a sensação de que iremos ouvir mais sobre este restaurante e o seu jovem chef. Uma cozinha corajosa, inteligente, capaz de surpreender pela sua substância, sem nunca exagerar, reunindo ingredientes e técnica originais. We were sent here by another restaurant in the Michelin guide after a mix up with bookings and it was easily the best food we’ve had in years. 7 course tasting menu with every dish being a sustainable use of local, interesting ingredients. They clearly spend a good amount of time researching the menu and explain why each dish is made the way it is. The service was great too - overall a great experience and we would wholly recommend to others!!! My only minor quibble is that they only have natural wines, I would have preferred wines with sulphites. Very good port though as well as aguadente which tasted like a peaty whiskey. O serviço também foi ótimo - no geral, uma ótima experiência e recomendamos totalmente a outras pessoas! Minha única reclamação é que eles só têm vinhos naturais, eu teria preferido vinhos com sulfitos. Porto muito bom, bem como aguadente que tinha gosto de whisky turfoso.

  Foi incrível! O restaurante é aconchegante, a recepção é calorosa. Fomos ao menu degustação e saímos tão felizes. Lara tem um cuidado de explicar cada prato que será servido contando sobre cocção, origem, ideia que é incrível, é possível ficar horas a conversar com ela. É um menu com múltiplos sabores, texturas , com ingredientes nacionais e sazonais. O conceito sustentável está por todo lado, não utilizam plástico em nada. Os potes de fermentados decorando a sala é lindo. Tomamos o vinho verde da quinta da Palmirinha, tem conceito de biodinâmica, com mininas intervenções, sem sulfitos adicionados, é saboroso, com acidez equilibrada, seco na medida e refrescante. Recomendamos muitooo que todos se permitam viver uma experiência tão rica como foi para nós! Estão mesmo de parabéns Equipe SEM!

  This evening felt like in a different space and time. Maybe a combination of the lovely wine pairing (mainly biodynamic wines) with delicious dishes. Local ingredients, composed in a special way. Playing with "modern" things like fermentation, misos,... but not posh at all. You can also feel that the entire space was lovingly renovated by the restaurant owners Lara and George.   A "not fancy restaurant" for the price of a fine-dinning experience, didn't meet our expectations. Restaurante with potential but still not developed yet. Having tried different 0 waste concept restaurants in Finland, this was by far the more disappointing and overpriced for what was offered - some plates were original in the visual appearance but the flavours didn't meet visual expectations or long descriptions done by the staff. The physical place is very small and since it was crowded there was lot of noise - we couldnt communicate to each others. Even staff had to shout. We didn't feel safe to eat there since Lisbon is in red alert for Covid-19 and there was no 2mts between tables or enough air circulating in the restaurant area. To finish off this not so positive dinning experience when we were given the card machine to pay, a 10 or 15% added gratuity was added by default to the final price, this felt very wrong to us - this is not how things work in Portugal, you don't need to pay gratuity in restaurants, you leave it if you like too - and of course with the staff staring there we feel the social pressure to go ahead with it - NOT COOL. Anyway this restaurant just opened, so we wish you very good luck for the future - in Portugal there aren't many like it - so do it well. :) (Traduzido pelo Google) Um "restaurante não chique" pelo preço de uma experiência gastronômica requintada não atendeu às nossas expectativas. Restaurante com potencial mas ainda não desenvolvido. Tendo experimentado diferentes restaurantes com conceito de desperdício na Finlândia, este foi de longe o mais decepcionante e caro para o que foi oferecido - alguns pratos eram originais na aparência visual, mas os sabores não atendiam às expectativas visuais ou longas descrições feitas pela equipe. O local físico é muito pequeno e como estava lotado havia muito barulho - não conseguíamos nos comunicar. Até os funcionários tiveram que gritar. Não nos sentíamos seguros para comer ali uma vez que Lisboa está em alerta vermelho para a Covid-19 e não havia 2mts entre mesas nem ar suficiente a circular na zona do restaurante. Para terminar esta experiência gastronómica não tão positiva quando nos foi dada a máquina de cartão para pagar, uma gorjeta adicional de 10 ou 15% foi adicionada por defeito ao preço final, isto pareceu-nos muito errado - não é assim que as coisas funcionam em Portugal , você não precisa pagar gorjeta em restaurantes, você deixa se quiser também - e claro que com o pessoal olhando para lá sentimos a pressão social para seguir em frente - NÃO LEGAL. De qualquer forma este restaurante acabou de abrir, por isso desejamos-lhe muita sorte para o futuro - em Portugal não há muitos como este - por isso faça-o bem. :)
