  We had Walter make this experience wonderful. Highly recommend for great Italian food in Lisbon. We went during lunch hours. Must be reserved if you wish to get a spot as it gets super busy. We got prawn linguine and tagliatelle tartufo e funghi with a glass of red wine. Tiramisu for dessert. Everything was delicious.Some of the staff spoke English/ Portuguese. You were able to taste the wines before selection. The place is on the pricier side for Lisbon with pasta dishes around €17, but is well worth it for the experience.   We were craving some pasta and we found this cute Italian restaurant called Il Mercato. The food was AMAZING and the service was even better, especially our server Valentín who was very attentive and kind, giving us great recommendations. I cannot stress enough how delicious the food tasted and how beautiful the atmosphere is. Some of the dishes we ate include the Bucatini All’ Amatriciana, Spaghetti Al Pomodoro Con Stracciatella, and the Ravioli Di Carne Con Stracciatella.   Even on a week day, I would advise to reserve a table as this is a very popular place. The food was incredible, I had the macaroni with asparagus, panchetta and cherry tomatoes and it was delicious. The dessert, pannacotta was also homemade and everything I had hoped for.   A celebration and worth the trouble getting here as we went to the wrong ‘Mercato’ a few kilometers away that was still figuring on Google though permanently closed (Google update please). One we arrived we were put at ease with good waiters who were very attentive and cordial. The lunch special today @ 14.95 included a starter with a parka style ham and main dish that was 3 samplers : a mix of pastas and a very tender veal that had been slowly cooked for a day. Our tastebuds were awakened. Other persons’ dishes were the pasta seafood that soaked up the flavor of the shrimp and was rich in flavor. A nice sangria for celebration and we were on the road again. So far the best Italian eatery - imo - in Lisbon. We will return. Next time on the patio.   We were heading to a different restaurant when we came across IL MERCATO. The pleasant smell of herbs and cheeses made us stop, and we decided to eat here, and oh, we glad we did. The service was very good and the location is also nice, despite being in the center of Lisbon.   Ingredients in the food were good quality, however that's about it - nothing special, and it had unbalanced textures and tastes. The pasta may have been fresh however the bite and flavour were not special. The carbonara was too heavy and the guanciale not cooked properly. The buratta was great quality however it only came with 3 sliced cherry tomatoes. The dessert Oro Nero was something bought from a shop that reminds me of the early 2000s. The service was good, can't fault the staff, however all the high reviews are likely due to tourists that may not know what great Italian food tastes like, as well as the staff providing a card at the end to offer them a review (so you are primed to leave one). The decor is kind of outdated and the music choice does not create a nice atmosphere. Would say skip this one.   Myself and my partner first visited Lisbon a month ago, and Il Mercato was the first restaurant we visited. We are both usually very opposed to revisiting a restaurant on holidays, both wanting to trial everything in the area - but Il Mercato was so good we dined here three times within the week, trying new dishes each night which never disappointed. Our highlights were the prawn pasta dishes, as well as the five cheese pasta. The Nutella cheesecake was also incredibly tasty. What was more than the delicious food, was the fantastic servers we had each night - particularly Leo and Walter. Following our visit to Lisbon, we decided to move here temporarily - and we will be visiting Il Mercato tonight as our first meal back. We could not recommend more highly. We ordered two plates of pasta and amazing desserts.   I want to start off by saying this is my first time in Portugal and the one thing I love to do while traveling is eat. And when I say this place did not disappoint I mean it. The pictures of the food online looked yummy but in no way did it compare to the presentation and amazing service of the restaurant. Our main server was Valentime (a fellow Cape Verdean we have a running bet we are probably cousins lol) and he along with several others made sure we had a once in a life time experience. Fransico was another server who was very mischievous and made sure our shot glasses were never empty and was a complete joy. We had a bottle of Chardonnay Toscana for the night and enjoyed the five cheese pasta and linguine con Lagosta for dinner as well as the tiramisu and mousse di cioccolato for desert . From beginning to end everything was perfection ! The pasta was made in house and so were there desserts we had. So friendly and welcoming I would recommend this place even to the pickiest eater you will not be disappointed. The prices are also very reasonable.   The menu is a bit limited, there's not much more than cold cuts and pasta, the food is very tasty although the portions are not very generous. There are tables outdoors covered with parasols under the sun but it gets very hot in the afternoon, besides some tables are not totally shaded and it gets even hotter, I had to leave before finishing my meal.   I have been following this restaurant since @lisboalive posted a few meals here. It is as delicious as the pictures! We were there at 7:10 for our 7:30 reservation and they were packed within 30 minutes on the patio. It was a lovely night to eat alfresco. We were given the couvert, bruschetta, and we ordered water and a bottle of prosecco and our meals...I could not decide between the spaghetti carbonara and the funghi pizza with tartufa...so I had both! It has been SO long since I have eaten pasta that I had to ask my dining partner if it was really as unbelievably good as I thought it was...it was! I haven't eaten such a decadent dish in years but it was one of the best I have eaten. Both the cheese pizza and the mushroom with truffles were outstanding. I would highly recommend this restaurant. Prices for pasta and pizza were very reasonable...most were $9-12 EU and a bottle of wine could be had for $10 EU. Dessert: Chocolate mousse $4 EU and Pannacotta with currents and berries were delicious as well. What I loved was neither was too sweet...the berries were tart and delicious.   Wow... What can I say about il Mercato... Simply delicious!! We were visiting from Canada but we are from Italian descent...so we know real Italian food. The restaurant is located in a small alley... You can't notice it from the street. First we had the homemade focaccia bread which was amazing, we had sliced curred meats and a burrata as an appetizer, followed by 2 homemade pasta dishes (gnocchi and pumpkin ravioli). It was a busy time and the woman said that it will take about an hour and she couldn't even guarantee that it will be ready and suggested not to keep my friends waiting... Só tive o menu de degustação mas se os outros pratos gostarem certamente voltarei (preciso também experimentar a pannacota), também o menu foi de apenas 20€ com 3 pratos e sobremesa (fantástica relação qualidade/preço). É uma empresa familiar, o filho administra a frente da casa e a cozinha e a mãe administra o balcão da delicatessen que vende todos os tipos de produtos bons, além de massas frescas.
