  I have no words to describe Mr. Pedro's service. We were on the terrace and it started to rain, so I went inside where there were empty tables for 28 people, booked for an hour later. Mr. Pedro was adamant and wouldn't let us sit down to finish a beet hummus and two glasses of wine because "he had warned us that it might rain". Inside, the restaurant was completely empty and, even after we explained to him that we wouldn't be staying for more than 15 minutes because we were going to the cinema, he told us that "that's how it worked". I still can't believe I was treated this way in a place I've been going to eat for years. In addition to not finding a solution, Mr. Pedro treated us with scorn and haughtiness.   It has a Bohemian vibe with very good representations of classic Persian dishes. I had the Ash Reshteh and Doogh and for me they were both fantastic, despite the waiter telling me the food is not traditional. To the extent that the other dishes are not traditional, I applaud the owner and her team for their creativity and fusion of Persian cuisine and culture in interesting ways. I sincerely hope that other members of the Iranian diaspora take every opportunity to support the owner in this culinary adventure. To my fellow Iranians that complain about the lack of authenticity, I would humbly suggest they understand that freezing our cuisine, art, and culture in historic standards is the equivalent of a tree withering for lack of water. Perhaps it is much better to embrace our ancient tendencies towards the encouragement of blending, experimentation, and innovation.   We were lucky to get in on a Saturday as we hadn't booked. Everyone was extremely friendly. Food was amazing. Great beetroot hummus and even better aubergine dish.   Easily overlooked from the outside, but do yourself a favour and stop by for a delicious meal. On our last evening in Portugal we were exhausted and decided to eat close to our apartment. What we did not know was that such a wonderful restaurant was hidden right there at the Praça de Flores. The waitress was so helpful, letting us know that half a dish can be ordered so you can try even more and pointing us at the daily special (chicken in rice with a delicious yogurt sauce). And the food was great. From starters to the main. I arrived not hungry but it didn’t take long before the smell and taste made me dig in as if I was starving. Definitely a hidden gem in that part of Lisbon. And well worth going out of your way for, especially if you like or want to try middle eastern cuisine. The flavor combinations were very surprising and so good. The shredded carrot yogurt dip and the eggplant were two highlights for us. Apparently the main cook was out so our chicken came dry, the eggplant needed some salt, and the fritatta we needed to send back because it was very very salty and impossible to eat.   Amazing experience here! The staff was really helpful and friendly and good looking! The food was delicious and spiced/flavored very well, the Port and Tonic was very refreshing and even had a little slice of ginger in there too! Tomato soup was very tasty and flavorful as well as the focaccia. The Koofteh was phenomenal and I would highly recommend it! My girlfriend got a feature that the server had suggested which was a sort of fried eggplant lasagna which came with a salad and this made me full of envy as it was SO GOOD. Muito obrigado!! Seating inside is great bit would definitely recommend getting a tabke outside. Food was really taste and authentic, would always come back a second or third time.   We had an absolutely horrible experience borderline racist. We asked for a table and was told that there were no tables at the time. After waiting for a while for a couple to leave, we happily sat down and waited to be served. The table had no reserved sign on. She was very assertive that we could only sat outside next to the garden fence. No reservations on the tables. There are a very strong smell of dog excrements, coming from the garden. Then she comes over and says can she separate the tables and fiddles about moving the table and us to a wonkier piece of pavement. And doesn’t even ask to take an order.   Unfortunately we can’t review the food and whole experience around it. We’ve been around earlier today with all good intentions to book a table for 3 people tonight. However we’ve been assured by the waitress no reservation is necessary for a Sunday as it’s normally very quiet. Low and behold we arrived tonight around 20:30 and different waitress just to be told no table available inside. Also no effort made to even try and accommodate us a little bit later. It was like walking into a brick wall. I’m sure many people had good experiences here but make sure you book in advance.   Visited and was shocked to discover that while the name suggests you'll be dining at an Iranian restaurant - you won't. The dishes are barely Persian - there's not a zereshk, taftoon, ghormeh sabzi, koobideh etc in sight - while I was told saffron is only used in one dessert dish (not even on the rice). The dishes that are meant to be Iranian (unlike beetroot hummus which is definitely not) don't taste authentic at all, the kashke bademjan was barely blended, lacking in flavour and had far too little kashke. I can only imagine that the high ratings are down to the fact that people haven't actually eaten real Iranian food before. Over hyped, overpriced and an overall disappointment.   A concise gem of a menu, brilliantly executed with taste and presentation giving equal footing. Definitely order an assortment of dishes to share but keep in mind the portions will be satisfying! We split the aubergine and hummus plates, focaccia starter, and Persian love cake (a delightful confection of nuts, spices & whipped cream), and it made for a wonderful lunch. The setting is equally charming, surrounded by graceful buildings with the patio opening to the park. Cafe Tehran is an experience we hope to have again! The waiter was charming and attentive, and the food very good: great bread with a yougurt dip, a spicy tomato soup, chicken breast with rice, and an Iranian cake with a coffee. I’m an Iranian and if this is Persian food, it’s the worst I’ve ever had. I ordered kookoo sabzi which the menu described as aromatic herbs but was mainly chunks of zucchini, also ordered kashk-o-bademjan,which had a very soupy consistency; this dish is always served with bread but this came with none. I asked for some bread and later I noticed they changed an additional 2.5 Euros for the little bread soaked in oil.   We came here two days in a row. First day they said it was too busy and they won’t take more reservations. Was Easter. The day after Easter it was empty and we arrived at 9:30. They said the kitchen is closed and sent us away. Then I talked to the bartender and he said they close at 11:30 but the kitchen closes at 10. I think the owner should know that the employees close at least 30 minutes before the time and you should change on Google that it closes at 11:30. We were treated very rudely and we are Iranian. And have lived here for 45 years. Wasn’t expecting that. Mr Sajjad was much more friendly in the other Iranian restaurant. I’m sure if the owners were here, we would have been treated differently .   A hidden gem! Yes, the service won't blow your socks off but it shouldn't put you off as the food is delicious. We tried the foccacia, calamares, kooftah and roasted aubergine with caramelised onions. It was all so tasty and fresh.   I passed by this place and decided to eat here. The menu looked nice, was not too overloaded with food options. As I am a persian myself I asked about some of the dishes and the waiter told me that it was fusion food. And I think that is important to keep in mind when you eat here. It will not be traditional iranian food. I actually liked experiencing these persian dishes with a twist. Side note: when I asked for bread I got foccacia.   Why is it so hard to find a restaurant that has both good food and good service in Lisbon? The food here is good but the service leaves a lot to be desired. It wasn’t busy when we were there and no one ever checked to see if we needed anything else. The couple next to us waited 30 minutes before the sleepy waiter came by to take their order and they were on the verge of leaving. Eating out is supposed to be a different experience than eating at home. Restaurants would really benefit from training the staff in this thing called service.   Great iranian food, nice and friendly service, simple and cozy environment. I cannot judge on its authenticity (but I could if someone offered me a trip to Iran) but all dishes were very tasty! There are a few outdoor seats, which are particularly desired during lunch time and warm nights. Reservations are recommended for these, or getting there really early. The dining room accomodates more, but the restaurant isn't big, so it easily gets full. The restaurant is in the basement, with a middle level for toilets and a few seats, so there are many stairs and an issue for accessibility.   I got to this place by chance, in the end it turned out to be great. You can choose from a small selection of dishes, we took the marinated chicken and it was very very good.   We stumbled on this restaurant in this quaint little square next to a playground for our kids (always a bonus.) They have great Mediterranean food presented with style and creativity.   Great location, very sweet little square. Cafeh Tehran has about 8 savoury dishes to choose from, I would highly recommend sharing! All dishes compliment each other very well.   As an Iranian I went there with much expectations ,but "Cafeh Tenran" doesn't represent at all the kitchen of the country! "koofteh" ground meat balls in sauce, which is usually mouth watering and delicious, came here as "kooft" : six little hard dried meatballs oversalted on skewers carelessly drowned into a pool of white yogurt, wherein just some cucumbers were shredded! All together with a slim slice of lemon. Nooshejan!The second dish was a kind of Moussaka - originally a greek dish which came also over salted and oily all together with some withered lettuce leaves as the dish of the day for 11.50 euros.   It's really hard to find restaurants with varied veggie dishes in Lisbon, so we we're thrilled when we found this gem down the street from our apt. Got the chicken with cucumber salad and the beet hummus. Delish.
