The rooftop was beautiful with a great view, the burger was the best one we've had in a long time with a big portion of fries included and the price was more than fair for it.   Really amazing service, views and food. Definitely worth coming straight here if visiting Porto Moniz. Food isn’t necessarily mind blowing or super unique but it’s still really delicious, cooked really well, and reliable. Also more of a humble, romantic atmosphere which we loved. We got tuna, catch of the day, and baked mussels + a liter of sangria. We left super satisfied and absolutely loved our waitress and the amazing lunch view of the ocean.   Looked great so made a reservation for same evening. Arrived and reservation had not been recorded correctly - but we got a table anyway. Were given menus but waited 40 minutes before they came to take our order and another 30 minutes for food to arrive. The food was OK but not better than average.   Most of the dishes we ordered were nice, fish and veggies were nice and fresh. Very nice view if you do manage to get a seat at one of the few balcony tables. However, service was slow and didn’t feel welcoming. The risotto was severely undercooked (not even « al dente » as advertised), as in, the rice was raw in the middle, and the cooking liquid was not absorbed, resulting in a soupy, watery, crunchy, unseasoned rice soup.   Pretty much the only positive thing about this restaurant is the ambiance. Provided that the weather is nice, you have a great view of the sunset here. Absolutely every single bit of our meal was prepared poorly and while going out for dinner is always hit or miss, this is the only place in Madeira where we can genuinely say we disliked our food. Service was also very slow and poor apart from a single kind waiter who desperately tried to pull the place together. Just don't go here.   The entrance to the restaurant was not looking promising but the place has a nice view. We had fish soup and arancini for starters and it was great. But the disappointing part was tuna and cod which just had some weird combinations that don't work and they did not seem fresh, also very pricy, 20+ € for fish dish. Service was great.   We were disappointed with our meal, I had the cod and it was overcooked, didn’t feel fresh and the vegetables were bland. Some strange neon coloured sauces in all the dishes and some questionable flavour mixes. The service was lacking, we had to ask several times for the drinks, the menu, the bill. The view is great and the atmosphere was quite nice but it didn’t make up for the rest. Definitely not value for money, it was expensive too.   Went here based on the good reviews, but were disappointed. Started off with garlic bread, which was great. However, we ordered Cod and Chicken. The Cod was overcooked and the filling of the chicken (sausage) was still raw. Both dishes had the same vegetables ( carrot, zuchini, tomato and bokchoi), which were just bland. The chicken dish also had some mushrooms which tasted like they were forgotten on a bbq. Waiting times were more on the long end and staff barely said anything.   Very good and a little bit hidden restaurant in Porto Moniz. When you come around the corner don't take the first entrance but go to the left and follow the path/stairs up to the Sea View terrace. The food was very good. I have had the chicken gyoza and the typical garlic bread (which was excellent). The service was very good and you have a very good view to the sea and the waves.   Rating the Roof top Restaurant. The Food is dellicous and modern vs. All the Standard Portugiese 1980 Restaurants and Tourist Naps in Moniz. Compliment. The view for a sundowner, priceless.   Had an absolutely delicious lunch here while spending the day in Porto Moniz. The restaurant is part of the Aqua Natura hotel and they have both a sea view restaurant and a rooftop restaurant. We ate on the rooftop patio and the views are incredible. The Madeira cocktail was delicious (Madeiran wine + sprite + fruit) and the Salmon burger was TO DIE FOR, so good I'll be dreaming about it. The fries (crisps) were fresh and hot. Then we lingered and got dessert too and the passion fruit cheesecake and creme brule did not disappoint. Very creative plating as well. Yes it's more expensive than other places but I'm from Canada so I found all restaurants really affordable on the island. Service was fine. I find everwhere on the island they take their time (compared to North America) but guess what, I'm on vacation so I'm not in a rush :) Would definitely come back!!   Food and views are both exceptional! The restaurant is slightly on the expensive side but it’s amongst a tourist attraction and the patio comes with beautiful scenery. Would have rated five stars, however our server Raquel was more interested in chatting with her coworkers than serving her tables - our party had to go seek her out anytime we wanted service (we were the only patrons for the first half of our meal). Secondly, their card pay machine is a bit of a scam. If you’re paying with an international card, it will ask whether you’d like to pay in your home currency or Euros (it’s always cheaper to pay in local currency FYI). After you’ve selected Euros, it still prompts two additional times in Portuguese to have you pay in your home currency in which they mark up 4% on top of an already terrible exchange rate. I’ll give the service the benefit of a doubt since the food was very prompt and delicious, and we were somewhat distracted by the view, but very unimpressed by their price gouge at checkout and our server being less than helpful sorting it out.   TL;DR: Don't come here. The only good thing about this place is the view. The service was incredibly slow (like, 20/30 mins between courses, and the espressos didn't even arrive). The food was nothing special, for sure not much local. In fact, I'd say it's more of a touristic place.   I can honestly say this was one of the worst meals we have ever been served. Arrived at 7.40pm for our 8pm reservation hoping to have a pre dinner drink. Nope. Taken to our table and left there without drinks until 8pm. Every course we had was awful!! Starters of veal tartare and foie gras - tartare was ok but served with an excess of salad. Foie gras again served with an excess of salad, apple and pear!! Main of scabbard just awful, duck was raw not rare, fat not rendered and meat not rested. Served with 10 vegetables(and fruit)! Yes 10!! Asparagus, broccoli, mushroom, tomato, courgette, beetroot, carrot, sweet potato, apple, and ? with madeira sauce, fruit compote and Marie rose dressing!! Considered leaving half way through mains. Dessert did not get any better with creme brulee that was not burnt and sugar not bruléed!! With all sorts of different fruits and a green mint cream/ganache!! Had to ask for more drinks. Service was functional but this seems to be quite typical for hospitality staff on Madeira - no conversation and the customer is an inconvenience!! Complimemtary cherry liqueur after dinner was a nice touch. Paid the bill and left - all within an hour!! O serviço foi funcional, mas isto parece ser bastante típico do pessoal de hospitalidade na Madeira - sem conversa e o cliente é um inconveniente!   First time in my life I couldn’t even eat my starter, nor finish my main dish because of how bad the food was. I ordered foie gras as a starter, which first was not foie gras but foie, and looked like it had been cooked during hours when it should be slightly fried. It was impossible to eat, disgusting. Then my partner ordered a risotto with Portuguese sausage, Spanish Iberian ham and foie gras. The rice was under cooked, didn’t look like a creamy risotto but rice in a lot of sauce, and included chorizo instead of Spanish Iberian ham and no foie gras as mentioned on the menu. On my side I had meat with vegetables, the meat was okay even though not tasty, and the vegetables were clearly frozen ones. To sum up, a very disappointing dinner, with dishes not including what they are supposed to and poorly cooked. On top of that, no better experience with the service, as the only answer we got when mentioning that the food was way below expectations was “okay, sorry, do you want some dessert ?” and no discount on the bill to apologize. Clients are clearly not taken into consideration, go somewhere else.   I eat always at local restaurants where locals eat and i avoid touristic places. At this restaurant, I must agree, i stopped just because the storm started. I ordered Sashimi and a maracuja cheescake. With the sashimi I couldn’t go wrong, place by sea, ordered raw fish…the plating was beautiful, just perfect for a sashimi plate. The cheesecake was delicious. Also the plates of the people around me were actually looking amazing. The chef P. Pestana you can tell is an experienced chef in fine dining and plating.   Great view if you’re by a window or sitting outside near the balcony. Located in a hotel. The staff is friendly, but very relaxed and we did not have the best experience service wise. The food at this restaurant is a 15/10, but I rated it 3 star because although the staff was friendly, our appetizers (the Arancini) was a bit cold at the center, the main course was awesome for my wife and I, and so was the desert! Would be a 5 star but the Arancini left a bad taste in my mouth, and we ordered an espresso that we paid for and asked 2 staff members about for 20 minutes before it came out. I’m big on service so this bumps it down to a 3 star for me, especially since we weren’t even acknowledged after our espresso order was made, as they were moving around the restaurant and then took 30 seconds in the end to make our espresso.   We had dinner here on the first night of our stay. I started with the miso soup which was amazing.. great flavor, big pieces of seaweed and mushrooms, and some noodles, which is interesting for miso soup. I got the sushi (8 pieces) and my husband got the pepper steak. My sushi rice was very undercooked and there really wasn't much in the roll - it was fine. You can't pick out the roll, it's just whatever you get is what you get. They didn't ask how my husband wanted his steak, so that was a bit of a red flag and it came pretty well done and a bit tough. He said the flavor was nice though and it paired well with the peppers and sweet potatoes. I can definitely say the sweet potatoes were very, very good. We ended the meal with the brownie served with green tea ice cream and it was super good. Kind of a gooey type of brownie that had some crunchy topping. It was leaning more toward a 3.5 versus a 4, but the miso soup and brownie were so good and the staff was also so very friendly.   Have been twice in a week. Once with a group, they gave an excellent menu and rate. Lots of clean plates and happy faces. Visited again with my mother on her short visit to Madeira. The plating was stepped up when dining off the full menu rather than a preordered group menu. Everything just had a little extra flare. Even the view and the ocean conformed and offered a little more when we came just as a pair to dine. Would recommend to anyone visiting the area.   Presentation is great which is probably why people love this restaurant so much! Otherwise, the food is really not great, especially considering the prices and the immaculate description on their website. For example, I got a veal tartar and the tartar was basically tendons and what seemed to be leftovers.. the meat was grey and just impossible to chew on. The main course linguine was overcooked with not so fresh seafood.   Beautiful view, but the food was mediocre. The kind of place that charges you 8 euros for 7 spring rolls, the kind you can buy in Iceland (frozen), laid out pretentiously on a slate with sauce drizzled artistically over it. For two starters, two “entrées” and two desserts we spent 52 euros and were still quite hungry afterwards.   Three years ago I gave this place a five star review. Unfortunately, today my experience was the opposite. The cod was by far the worst I have eaten at a restaurant - wrapped in wet breading and with bones - amateur level cooking. The vegetables were overcooked. The polenta was tasteless. When complaining, the waiter literally laughed at my face. Then, it still took him well over 30 minutes to clean my plates and get me the bill.   Nice place with great views. We had a great lunch at the restaurant downstairs (at the hotel’s restaurant) as well as upstairs on the terrace. Be aware that the menu’s are different: traditional at the restaurant, and sushi/ Japanese upstairs. Food was delicious at both places.   We went to the Rooftop restaurant after enjoying the pools as it had vegetarian options. The location is great but food could be improved. The angus burger was the best value for money as it was much cheaper than the vegan burger and had two patties. The vegan burger (while the patty itself was nice as I presume it was a Beyond Meat burger) was dry and the onion rings were probably the best part of it. The vegetable spring rolls tasted as if they were the ready made frozen ones. Vegan bowl was OK but there should be more bread with it as it is essentially a bowl of topped hummus. French fries were good. It is very expensive for what it is, from the menu it isn’t clear how large (or small) the dishes are, the presentation is over the top for what it all is.   It was awful!!! Food are not tasty, just nice pictures. We took 2 menu. It should be a plate with different bread and 3 kinds of butter. But they gave 1 typical bread with nothing.   We were visiting Madeira for a week and the only restaurant we came back twice was Seaview! The food was outstanding - perfect portions (not too big, not too small), amazingly delicious and the presentations of the dishes were beautiful and an aesthetic pleasure for the eyes! Everything was perfect, plus the service! The personnel was friendly, very nice and helped us decide what to choose from the menu. Needless to say that the view from the restaurant is also breathtaking! Kudos to the chef who is really looking for giving an experience with the food he/she prepares. Highly recommend it.   We chose to have lunch here based on the fact that they offered some vegan options since one of my friends is vegan. The service was very welcoming and spoke perfect English. The view is absolutely breathtaking. The food itself was very good (we chose the nachos, miso soup, tacos 3 ways, vegan bowl, spring rolls and shared a bottle of water) but we thought it was quite expensive given the size of each dish. Its safe to say we left hungry and paid around 40€ for everything. Taste wise I highly recommend it but it is not as budget friendly as we had hoped. But we both didn't like seafood trilogy - the whole dish tasted with vinegar.   Disappointing Although the food was nicely arranged and looked great, the tuna was dry and kinda „fibred“ even tough it was served medium. I prefer a simple, but good fish, instead of mixing 20 random ingredients and pretending a good quality. The view is great, but sitting next to the kitchen it was loud and not comfortable - nothing to really enjoy the view.   The experience has been so so. Very good location, on the sea. Dishes are nice to see, but there are too much things inside. Mussels au graten are good. The fish as main course was strange: too much things and type of fish, but all of them were with weak flavour. I hoped better. Service has been good and pleasant.   The atmosphere, service and price is good, however the food is not really good. The chef has tried to make the dish complicated by using exotic ingredients (pansy flower, fig sauce), but has totally forgot the first and most important aspect of cooking, the taste! We ate in two occasions in the restaurant, and ordered 4 dishes. Wrass fillet, cod, rack of lamb and fish duo (scabbard and tuna). Only the wrass fillet with linguine was the best one, the rest were not so specific. The Cod was badly cooked, stiff and dry , I can make a cod dish better than that!! Again, too much complication and not so great taste. The staff were nice and kind and always offered us regional liquors after the meal. Novamente, muita complicação e gosto não tão bom. A equipe foi simpática e gentil e sempre nos ofereceu licores regionais após a refeição.

  A restaurant with a view. We visited this place for our first evening in Porto Moniz and we were not disappointed. Firstly the service was great which together with the amazing view directly onto the wild Atlantic made for a great setting.   Fancy! We sat outside and the staff brought us blankets because it was a bit cold.   From the reviews read I was expecting more. We just had two starters, one bottle of wine and one dessert. The starters were fine. Even if I was expecting more taste in the octopus carpaccio. The dessert was a disappointment: the crumble of pear and raspberry turned out to a jelly of raspberry and pear with some musli on top of it.   The view alone makes this restaurant a must visit, especially if you get a seat at the balcony! The food i ordered was delicious, as a starter I had the fresh salmon, paired really well with some bread since it can be a bit fatty by itself. As main dish I had the seafood cannelloni, it was so tasty and well prepared, loved it. The way they presented their food really showed how much care they put in to the dishes.
