  Our first taste of Porto. Went for dinner on a recommendation from a friend. The place was bustling and had a great atmosphere. It is decorated in a retro music themed style. The staff were friendly and gave great service. Food was delivered to the table promptly, impressive as the place was so busy. There was plenty to choose from on the menu, but nearly everyone was eating Francesinha. Many people seem to say this is the best Francesinha in Porto, and it is good, but others I tasted elsewhere were better, I felt. The other meals we had, including chicken, were also good but lacking a bit of flavour. The chocolate cake was more of a mouse than a solid cake, but it was OK. Overall, it was a good place to visit, reasonably priced with a great atmosphere, but for me, the food was just not quite as good as some of the other cafes I tried.   Oh my god!!! It was amazing! There are two different rooms, and one looks like cheap fast food but the other one, not visible initially, is like a secret load school jazz club. That's where we sat. The decor is super atmospheric! And of course, francesihna was amazing, super tasty. We took a classic and vegetarian one (it had tofu, seitan (?) sausage and seitan bacon). Fries not worthy.   Absolutely garbage restaurant. We got there at 2pm, ordered at 230, waited till 3:30 and questioned the waiter of how long the food will be, told “5 mins”, waited another 20 mins, and the waiter refused to even look in our direction. Confronted another person, asking what’s going on as all other tables after us had gotten their food…he says give me 5 mins. After another 10 mins, we gave up and left at 4pm without getting our food…2 full hours wasted. Ruined our entire experience of porto in one meal!   Our first meal in Porto and we weren't disappointed at all. There is a wait time during the lunch rush but it is worth the 15 minute wait time we had. The francesinha from this place is definitely a must whenever you visit. There is ample amount of meat, cheese and gravy that is worth every penny.   The best Franceschina ever!!! This is a typical delicasy in Porto and it is a must try if you there. This restaurant is of the main road and opens at 12pm They do not accept reservations and trust me you better be there for 12pm as other wise you will be waiting for the table. We got there just after 12pm and still had to wait. Luckily not long, food came put super fast and definitely hit the spot. I had the original Franceschina and I have not been disappointed!! Everything about this dish was perfect from meets bread, melted cheese and beer sauce, you cannot go wrong. Perfect hangover food if you ask me however not for light hearted!!   Tried Francesinha first time. There's some choice to adjust the amount(half size, w/wo chips). The taste was very nice, I imagined more like junk food taste, but actually not fully.I could finish full size without getting tired. Spicy sause and herb flavor(I guess from sausage..) helped that. Remarkably there's many craft beer choice(not very common in Porto), IPA(letra f) was very nice. Only one thing to be improved, no explanation for those beer in the menu(even the type!), it's very difficult to choose. I googled "letra""craft beer" and checked in brewery's site. It was different than anything I had before, the mix of taste goes good down your mouth! I recommend to try it.   We visited Lado B Cafe to enjoy the Francesinha (with egg) which had been recommended to us by Ricardo at Lordien. We would never have discovered this fantastic cafe without his help and would definitely recommend you visit here. We believe the Francesinha here to be the finest example of this traditional dish in Porto, it was delicious and incredibly filling, we visited at lunch time and did not need anything else to eat all day! We opted for the Sangria which was excellent and perfectly made and a good pairing, it was not too sweet. Our waiter advised that we order some chips to go with our Francesinha, which was a good call as the spicy and beer sauce definitely needed something to dip in! The cafe is a real gem and the meals diners who were eating other choices from the menu looked great, we would definitely return here, and recommend a visit when in Porto. I entered the place and spotted a spare table, I did not know that there is a queue/ no ppl waiting outside and I did not know that I had to wait for someone to sit me down/ there was no one waiting at the entrance.   The francesinhas are delicious, one of the best in town and the staff is super friendly! The waiting times are appropriate and I’m just not giving 5 stars because the space isn’t great. It’s usually a crowded place so you better be prepared to lunch/dinner in a super noisy restaurant/café. The free space between the tables is very tight which means no privacy and hard to walk by.   We arrived exactly at 12pm (opening time) and within 30 minutes the place was very busy! We specifically chose this place to try the francesinha because they offer a veggie version.   It was one of the recommended places to try a Francesinha and it was absolutely delicious. My mom and I we shared one and that was no problem even though they offer a half in the menu as well. The sauce was not good at least i didn’t like it, there was way to much cheese and it wasn’t properly melted either. Staff was good tho i see bad reviews about them but they seemed nice to me.   Contrary to what is said on the facebook page, the restaurant doesn't answer to any facebook messages. So don't try to book a tablet using it. You can only book tables by phone which can be difficult for non portuguese speakers. Fellow Vegans beware! There is a vegan "francesinha" although If you ask for more sauce be careful! I went with non vegan friends who said the extra sauce flavour did taste equal to the non-vegan sauce. And that the taste was different from the vegan sauce that came with the "francesinha"...   We had to wait about 10 minutes to get in, it was busy but there were also 2 big tables that just needed to be cleared, I think they were just understaffed. We went for the francesinah on a recommendation from a tour guide, I got the normal one and my girlfriend got the vegetarian version. Both were really good, although it was my first and only one, it was delicious. There were a decent amount of locals as well as tourists. We did have to wait about 10 minutes for our bill and seemed to be ignored by our waitress until a manager finally saw us waiting and sent over the waiter.   Wow where do I start. I had been here from London, with no idea what is served as my Portuguese friend took me here.... She knew what she was doing and I am glad she did. After knowing a lot about francissinia the infamous sandwich a lot, I was intrigued to try one. I must say I am glad I tried it from here first. The whole experience is excellent. Bit of crammy side. But brightly decorated. Three of my friends and I ordered different dishes. I must say you everyone was so happy that the food was delicious. I spent a lot of time there as it was a bit warm outside. After couple of beers which was great indeed, we left from there with great satisfaction. I'm very positive to say whenever I am back to Porto I will definitely visit this place once again.   We wanted to try the famous Francesinhas and people had mentioned the Santiago restaurant next door. When we got there, Santiago's had a long queue but there were tables in Lado B so we went straight in. The food was excellent and great value so would recommend it 100%. It wasn't the fastest service in the world but nothing to complain about as I've seen in a couple of other reviews. The restaurant is tastefully decorated and clean. As far as a gut busting meal goes, Lado B’s take on a francesinha with fries will leave you curled up in a ball - there’s 5 meats here, remember - plus a slathering of cheese. And a piri-piri/ ketchup sauce that leaves you a little sweaty (on top of the meat sweats you’re gonna encounter too) - for under 12 € with a beer you can’t go far wrong here - and the egg is optional on top - and free too if you choose to hasten your proximity to artery clogging death (Traduzido pelo Google) Melhor? The simple salad had no dressing, and for the one vegetarian in our group, there was exactly one main dish. Not very big given its popularity so I may recommend setting up a reservation unless you're planning on spending some time waiting outside for your turn to eat. Other than that, the waiters are really nice, they have a good selection of national and imported beers and the place is cosier than it may seem.   The name of the game on this space is Francesinhas and for my experience tasting the famous sandwich from Porto this is not one of the best ones. It's just ok but no more than that...the sauce was a litle bit more tick than I enjoy and the sandwich it self lacked of more heath in order for the cheese to be completely melted. I can recomend this place as a good first aproach to the world of Francesinha but some other places in the city will definitely serve an upgraded version of the plate for sure. The service is fine. Friendly and available staff. The space is ok. With space and a nice decoration. The best surprise was a local beer that I tasted, Nortada. A must order and taste when you visit this place. The menu is short and is more like a Bar than a Restaurant, but the quality of the hamburguers and Alheiras is also good. If you go to have your dinner then you can finnish the night with a wine in Maus Hábitos on the next building, also infront of Coliseum.
