  Tasty octopus, lettuce salad was good too. Octopus is filling enough for two. Very slow service, every server seemed to ignore you! But since sitting on a sharing table was able to chat to those around. If unreserved then high chance of sharing a high table with up to 8 seats.   Atmosphere was nice. Staff were alright. Their couvert was good, especially banana butter was lovely. A squid and prawn main dish was very enjoyable, but the soaking bread seemed unnecessary, nothing really special about it. The, supposed be a highlight, octopus main dish was a disappointment as it was chewy and there was not much flavour to it. Even though its caramelised onion and grilled tomatoes were lovely, grilled sweet potatoes were undercooked and dull. I felt the ingredients were not really singing well together. I do get it’s a whole (smaller size) octopus, but felt it well over priced at €42, especially considering its boringness of the dish. (Even the same selections of) wine were more expensive than other places. Overall, it was an alright experience, but wouldn’t go back after spending almost €100 for just about nice food for 2 people.   Oh my, what a waste of a perfectly good appetite! The food, with the exception of just one dish, was (nicely put) mediocre. The service was ranging from very poor to simply unprofessional. Although the restaurant is nicely decorated, the atmosphere was very unwelcoming, mostly due to the staff and to the audio system malfunctioning while we were there.   Tried to book here in advance but no response so we were lucky as a party of 6 to drop in for lunch and get a table. Really cool place, great decor and playlist/atmosphere, service was great; menu is a little different/expensive from the ocean of other 'local' restaurants in the city but the cooking & presentation was excellent. Good choice of small, sharing plates as well as generous main courses and great local wine list.   A great little spot with very trendy decor just a stones throw from our hotel, on one of the main streets in the historical town. We were recommended to book by our hotel and friends who had been to the city previously. Overall the food was fantastic, but service was pretty slow. I don’t know if it’s because we were a later table int he evening but there didn’t seem to be any control over who was looking after who. Food was good although worth avoiding the chickpea curry as it was bland, but everything else was delicious. Loved the little touch of the plant pot cheesecake which was delicious!   Wow this is an amazing place. We had a place for 2 at a group table which worked fine, no pressure to chat to others but you could if you wanted to. We had garlic sautéed prawns, croquettes and the rib eye to share. It was faultless. Will be thinking about this food for a long time 🤤 the atmosphere was fun and casual. The service was excellent.   We wandered the streets of Porto and joined various queues before finally taking a chance here after seeing an earlier queue. We were very lucky to only wait 5 minutes but if you can, make a reservation. The food was fantastic and in my opinion very good value for the portion size which I couldn’t finish. The drinks were very reasonable and great quality. The server was very helpful in giving wine recommendations. I would say service let it down a little bit. It took a long while before somebody came to take our drinks order but overall we enjoyed the atmosphere and staff were very polite. The prawn and squid stew was delicious. I ordered a side of fries but didn’t need them, it was a massive portion and suitable for 2 people. Would definitely recommend. Our whole meal came to around €63 which I thought was excellent value. Pretty big for one person, would recommend to share (although I consumed it all).   This establishment should be on your 'to do' list when visiting Porto. The staff were kindness personified and were happy to speak English very well and were tolerant of my awful attempts at Portuguese. The décor inside is 'Grand Designs' industrial chic but as it has very high ceilings this is in no way oppressive. The service was prompt and the staff were keen to advise us on the menu; we had over-ordered and they kindly pointed this out. The food was excellent, especially the fish dishes and there was even a goat cheese starter that I enjoyed (and I normally can't tolerate goat cheese!). The pudding course was great, fun presentation and delicious. The wine list was excellent and incredibly inexpensive, in fact four courses for two people and a bottle of good wine was about €85.   We went in a bit after 6 and it was surprisingly empty but as time goes on it gets packed fast. The grilled octopus was the best thing! The was soft, tender and delicious. The pork ribs were ok, it was slide off the bone type of rib but it was a bit dry on the inside, and the coleslaw wasn’t my favorite. The octopus carpaccio was also really good. Thinly sliced octopus with their oil was so good. I don’t know what they put in that oil but it went really well with the octopus.   Awesome place. so much so that we got there 2 days in a row. The staff were friendly, efficient, out of the way and frankly vibrating positive energy.   Managed to get a table to share with others which we didn't mind. It was a large table at the back of the restaurant. As others have said, the place is very cold and I was shivering with the cold. The menu is simple but strange and slightly confusing. Our waiter wasn't great and the staff didn't look happy at all. Not a great atmosphere. I ordered the boar pork neck with tripe & bean stew on the side. My wife ordered beef steak medium. The steak arrived cut into pieces and greasy , cooked medium rare. I had a large portion of pork which was very tender but no vegetables and the tripe was inedible. So I munched away on a large chunk of meat. The waiter never came back to us so we went up to the counter to pay the bill, poor service so no tip for this fella. We wouldn't return here , it's not for us.   We were a small party of 3 with two adults and one child. First thing I’d like to mention is the food portion was very generous, luckily the dishes - the squid and seafood stew, the cod and the steak, were delicious so we didn’t have to waste too much food. Saw some people here complaining about the service, i wouldn’t say it’s bad, but inexperienced for sure about the waitress who waited our table.   Extremely cold atmosphere, both temperature- and service-wise. I had to have dinner with my skiing jacket on, and so did the couple eating in front of us. Food-wise, we were served very spicy peppers: nowhere in the menu did it say how spicy they were, nor our waitress bothered to mention. Saving quality: after we mentioned they were too spicy (and didn't eat any of them), we did not pay for the dish. The pork was very good, but we had to wait 50 very cold minutes between the inedible peppers and the main course.   We went here as a friend recommended this place to us. First of all, the place is very cold, meaning we (and other people around our table) had to wear our jacket the entire time. They were blasting the AC or something. Second, the food we ordered (the peppers) were way too spicy. There was no indication on the menu, nor did the waitress indicate it. We did not eat it, and we observed atleast one other group of people also nearly vomiting of the heat. Even if the peppers were not spicy, they would not have been edible anyway, cause half of them were burned. Thirdly, in the main course (which took them 50 minutes to make) the rice was severely overcooked. Finally, the service was subpar for the money you pay. There was no hospitality, no smiles and a severy disinterest in answering simple questions. Overall, the place is very overrated, there are 100 restaurants in the same neigbourhood that are better in teams of atmosphere, food and service. DONT GO HERE!   Had a reservation for a romantic dinner, we were expecting a lot from this restaurant from reviews and and word to mouth. We got there and the ambience is amazing, really well decorated, candle lit and cozy. We got our appetizers (pimhentos pepper, caprese salad, and celery soup) and it was absolutely amazing. So, we had high hopes for our main courses (the tuna steak and shrimp/octopus stew), but were immediately disappointed before even tasting them. The tuna was not seasoned, not the temperature tuna steak should be, only had small pieces of pineapple on top of it (the potatoes were the best part of the dish). The stew was not what was expected as it just looked like dried out seafood, with a piece of soggy bread in the middle, and looked to be topped with a water - looked and tasted unappetizing. Service was fine, just seemed very uninterested and a “thank you” or “enjoy” was never heard. If you go here, just get a few of the appetizers as your dinner as that was very good and well worth the price. Overall, spent over €100 just to enjoy the wine and a few appetizers. O ensopado não era o que se esperava, pois parecia apenas frutos do mar secos, com um pedaço de pão encharcado no meio, e parecia coberto com água - parecia e tinha um sabor pouco apetitoso. O serviço foi bom, parecia muito desinteressado e um “obrigado” ou “aproveite” nunca foi ouvido. Se você for aqui, compre alguns aperitivos no jantar, pois foi muito bom e vale a pena o preço.   Got lucky and got a seat outside without a reservation around 7pm. Food was disappointing for the price as we saw multiple good reviews from Youtube/Google. Steak was chewy, meat quality was meh and wasn't seasoned the best. The cod/egg/potato dish was nothing memorable. White sangria was ok, again not the most flavorful, but I think it was $26 for 2 liters. Best part of the meal was being able to eat outside along Rua das Flores.   We visited Cantina 32 during a recent trip to Porto. The food was good, not out of this world, but good. The service though? Whew. We arrived for our reservation and the staff was taken aback and said they weren’t sure if our table was ready. Very chaotic vibe. People running around. Dropping things. We sit and throughout the meal, service was inattentive, unfriendly and everyone generally had a put upon attitude. And at the end of this meal, as we were paying, our server says “now you realize my gratuity isn’t included”. Excuse me? The worst service we received in our entire trip and the only place to press for a tip. There are much better places in Porto to eat, both in service, food and general vibes.   We arrived at 18:30 and were told we had the table till 20:00. We ordered at 18:40 but the food arrived at 19:45. The food overall is okay, we had the steak, the cod and a salad. It steak was really good, the salad was fine and the fish itself was fine as well, but the potatos were burned. The lady at the front was extremely condescending, when we told her the food was "only" okay but the potatos were burned but the fish was fine (she asked us and we let her know).   The squid and tiger prawns are a must. Very well seasoned. We liked the squid so much we ordered it a second time for “desert.” Really unique sauces. My dad liked his tuna steak as well. We were lucky to have got a walk in table outside after only about 30 minutes wait, but inside looked better (and warmer) so I’d reserve in advance next time to ensure an inside table.   Incredible experience! Except for the service, which was a bit slow at the end, staff was pretty friendly and attentious. Menu had options with fish and meat, multiple types of wine, drinks and non alcoholic beverages. Aside from that, the environment was super cozy and cute (and big!). We had to share a table with other tourists and it was nice as well!   I was recommended to visit this restaurant. It’s close to the centre and located on the street with plenty of other good and not so good restaurants. It’s always your choice but I wanted to try the whole octopus that everyone was so excited about. Unfortunately, my partner was not into eating this so we picked the following: small cheese plate (wonderful selection with perfectly accompanied pumpkin chutney), squid and shrimp stew (great presentation and full of flavour but it’s simply too much for one person - perfect for two), pork ribs (very tender but also too much just for one person) and Fries 32 (great size for 3,5 so I’d also recommend to share it). We could not finish everything but it was very very tasty - would love to come back one day! Together with wine and the tip it came to €85. Make sure to reserve a table because it’s always full!   Objectively this place is nice but overpriced. The portions are small in comparison with other restaurant in Porto so do not expect to share only one plate, because it might not be enough.   The place is nice, meaning the ambiance and design. Food was tasty, but objectively overpriced. The quantity of food is less than expected for the dishes with the given taste and imagination. We were 2 people. Had the starter with olives+bread and butter, also the squid starter and the octopus tartar. As a main we had the “Legendary prawns’ and a bottle of wine. Well we went out slightly hungry still. The waitresses didn’t do anything wrong, but they were not smiling or welcoming. All in all looks like all touristic places. Not coming back again for sure.   Was excited to stop by for dinner but the food was just okay. Definitely prefer the appetizers to the actual entrees. Enjoyed the salad and squid appetizers. Entrees were underwhelming with the octopus being more gummy than we would have liked and the tuna lacking much taste. We did enjoy the the beef steak entree. Service was not the greatest, having to chase down our waitress multiple times. If you decide to stop in I’d recommend opting for just apps and maybe drinks.   OMG this is the place to eat!! We walked past one evening by chance as there was a queue forming to go inside. It was fully booked for 2 days straight by the receptionist said they take walk ins if you come 6.30pm. Well I was there at 6pm I was determined to eat in this restaurant and it will not dissapoint!   I had an extremely unpleasant experience at this restaurant. Firstly, the odor was off-putting and left a negative impression from the moment I entered. Secondly, the food was not only unappetizing but also left me feeling nauseous. The taste was terrible, and I couldn't even bring myself to eat it. It was a regrettable waste of money. The service, although passable from a few attentive staff members, was overshadowed by others who seemed confused and disinterested. They not only got our orders wrong but also ignored us for a significant amount of time, which was frustrating. Furthermore, the so-called "special" fries were a huge disappointment. They were nothing more than regular French fries with a minuscule amount of cheese sprinkled on top. This was misleading and not at all worth the extra cost.   This restaurant is the waist of your time and money. Stuff of the restaurant is not interested in serving guests well, they were chatting all the time while we‘re waiting for our order, it was 1,5 hour! We came already hungry and it was a disaster, as stuff hadn’t payed any attention to us even after asking them about the time of the food readiness. As the readily they we’re sitting separately and drinking wine, including the manager, really? The waitress herself was really mean and other people that came after us, got the food much earlier, why? I’m glad that I haven’t decided to celebrate my birthday there. The food itself wasn’t good at all, steak was half dry, half fresh, lettuce salad and basic salad had half of the salad itself and almost no souse and anything elapse, are we in the supermarket? We haven’t ate almost anything and left the restaurant.   We waited for our food for more than an hour. When it came - we were quite surprised. The meat was dry, the tuna steak was tasteless, the salad was just half of the lettuce with sauce and cheese on top. Overall, we were very disappointed.   Nice aesthetic but the food we ordered did not taste very good. My friend ordered a grilled cod and francesinha which was quite salty. The fries felt dry.   Ordered their prawn and squid stew, “legendary” tiger prawn and basic salad (without knowing and wasn’t told that the stew included a couscous salad). What stood out for me was the stew and the basic salad. The broth of the stew was superb, I didn’t waste a single drop. Super umami! But I think the bread in it should have been served separately. Now, although there were many complaints about their basic salad, it was very good. The dressing and cheese amplified the simple lettuce head. Not kidding. As for the legendary tiger prawn? Average. Nothing to shout about. Maybe carabinero prawn would have made a difference. Cheese cake dessert was a let down although presentation (looked like a sapling in a flower pot) was unique.   Food and ambiance were amazing. The server was pretty bad. Zero personality or charm. Made you feel like she was doing you a favor by waiting on you. Claimed the main dish was delayed 40min after app because “this is the way the restaurant operates”. Just felt like she forgot to put my order. As a professional barman from a tourism town outside of New York City (the Hamptons) I was kind of insulted by her demeanor. All the dishes are extremely salty and drown in shop-bought sauces which completely ruin the taste of the sea food. The staff member who served us forgot and mixed up half of our order.   Living abroad, there is always one restaurant I recommend my friends and colleagues to try out when visiting Porto: Cantina 32. It has it all: location, decor, service, outstanding food & drinks. In a time when so many good restaurants come and go, it's so reassuring to return to my hometown and see how Cantina 32 stands the test of popularity. My favourites include: started of bread with banana butter, marinated olives, sautée squid, tuna tataki, cod 'brás' style, tiger prawns with garlic sauce, and (of course) the caramelised banana cheesecake with chocolate. Also worth mentioning that they have one of the best sparkling sangrias in town!   We recommend to book in advance because the place has always a queue (~1h wait). We reserved in advance a table, and they offer us a place on a sharing table. Fantastic experience. We had a whole octopus and squid and prawn stew, both great. The french fries weren't the best, actually they were similar to McDonald's fries (the only bad thing about this place). The chocolate cake the final touch, really good. The wine and the Porto wine were good. The service was service (they gave us great recomendations) and the prices were reasonable. A special thanks to the wonderful person who recieved us and gave us the right suggestion. Well done. We really recommend it!   Wow ! Incredible fine food, very original, up to the aesthetic (see picture of the cheese cake, so fun). Not so expensive considering the (high) quality of the recipes. Portions are quite little (but I do not eat that much) so that you really enjoy flavours. So if you’re searching to eat over satiety I’m not sure it’s the perfect place for you.   This place came really highly recommended from some friends and food wise it did not disappoint. The whole octopus is definitely enough to feed two people. It was so delicious. That said, the service wasn’t the greatest. The staff forgot about us for the first 45 minutes we were there and for another 45 minutes after we asked for a check.   MUST TRY! So half the restaurant is for reservations and half is walk-ins. So even if you don’t reserve, you can find a place but be prepared to wait up to 1 hour. I would highly recommend reserving at least 1 day in advance. OR stand in front of it for lunch right before they open to secure a table like I did :) The squid starter is a MUST (you might want to get two portions, trust me). The pork sandwich (only served at lunch) was tasty but the squid stole the show for me. The smoked sausage croquettes were good, but not my cup of tea. The fries with cheese (fries 32) were delicious too. Wine was fantastic. Would definitely come back here and try more dishes (and get the squid again). Also, they have BANANA butter.   Great place with fantastic service. A tourist restaurant that isn’t a tourist trap. Can’t go wrong with the octopus here. It’s cooked to perfection and is very tender and tasty. The full octopus is accompanied with sweet potatoes and tomatoes which complements the octopus perfectly. We ordered the basic salad side with it and it’s great for a very simple salad. Lettuce, cheese, with a lovely mustard dressing - tasty. The sangrias were great and the dessert I ordered was the “ice cream” cake. It’s a great way to finish the meal.   We visited this restaurant twice in 3 days although there are lots of great restaurants available. Service, food and atmosphere all are key ingredients in a good night out and I totally recommend Cantina. From the host to the serving staff all are friendly and eager to please. Food is plentiful and extremely tasty. I tried the spare ribs (amazing) and the cod , equally as good. Dessert has to be cookie dough ice cream cake every time. Reservation definitely recommend.   The staff were very friendly and nice it was the food that let us down here. After a long day we were looking for food but nothing too big or pricey so we chose the vegetarian burger and the francesinha. The vegetarian burger came with 5 cassava chips. The burger base was quinoa and just fell apart when I tried to eat it there was no structure at all to it and I didn't like the taste. The cassava chips weren't to my taste but maybe if you like cassava they were nice. The francesinha bun was very hard making it hard to eat and cut. The wine we got was nice and the atmosphere in the place was good but just unfortunate about the food.   Just eat here and you will not be disappointed. We had a port with olives, bread and an very tasty salty banana butter as an appetizer. The menu has meat and seafood which we choose. We took the squid with mustard as a starter and a whole octopus as the main course. All accompanied with nice vino verde. To finish it we had a ingenious cheesecake.   Was able to get in without reservation right at 6:30 when they reopened for dinner. Just had to be out by 8pm which was plenty of time.   A disappointing dining experience, we ordered padron peppers which were raw but also burned at the same time. The octopus although it was a very large portion it was badly cooked, the ends of it burned. The most disappointing thing of all was the 'salad' which should not even be called that since it was half a head of lettuce with some sauce on it which was not good by the way. The quality of food needs a big improvement as the setting of the restaurant was quite nice.   This is a fantastic restaurant!! The octopus was tender and delicious. Everything from the steak to the squid appetizer were delicious and the dessert was charming and wonderful.   It took me sometime to write this review - but this is one of the best restaurant I had the pleasure to e eat in Porto. From the service being very attentive and super friendly to the delicious food and wine. Don’t remember exactly the name of the plates, but you can see them from the pictures and they were as tasty as they look, even better (must get the calamari for starters!). The interiors are just as I love them, cosy with a great eye for design. I visited in September, and followed the suggestions of the friendly Joanna (I hope I am writing this right) as everything looked great in the menu. It was the best meal I could have wished for before heading to the airport. Will definitely go back! Super interesting combinations made in modern ways, like grated hard boiled egg with the cured salmon and orange, that gave a perfect texture and combination of salty, sweet and acidity.   Was an interesting experience here. Came here for early dinner. If you’re from London and I said to you ‘pretentious Shoreditch vibes’ you may understand what that means.   My girlfriend and I came in without a reservation right when it opened on a Thursday night. We were able to sit so long as we were out by 8p, which was nice. This spot was recommended to me and I thought it was okay. Perhaps it would have been better with better meal choices; I’ll take the blame on that for going with steak instead of octopus (my girlfriend wanted the octopus; my bad). We were seated next to a nice couple and had friendly conversation. They sold chocolate cake by the centimeter, which was different. I had better gelato in town.   We went there because of the line up and wanted to see what the hype was all about. The line moved fairly quick but unlike other (western) guests, once in we were asked to wait 10min even though the table we were eventually brought to has been ready for a while. Some guests were immediately given bread while others, like us, were not. Maybe they think Asians only eat rice? We shared a table with others and for some reason, we were served our main meal last. I hate to think it could be a racist thing but seeing the other comments here, that could certainly be. Food was ok. Pork ribs were tender but a tad salty. The squid was interesting with the mustard sauce but otherwise average. The portobello mushroom was nice. Really, its the service is the deal-breaker. Beware the door b*tch.   A truly delightful restaurant with amazing staff with a great sense of humour. We sat on a long bench table amongst other diners, however there was plenty of room. The octopus was huge but then all the dishes we ordered were of very generous portions. I am pretty sure the cod egg dish is the best on Porto.   Great place with amazing octopus. I had been wanting to try octopus since I got to Portugal and I’m glad I found this place. Be warned, the portion is big and with the small cheese plate appetizer it was a lot of food for two.   Delicious food and similar experience as their sister restaurant Puro 4050 but not quite as dialled or intimate experience. We had the whole octopus which was delicious and the kids shared the ribs. Portions are quite large so we definitely didn’t need the starters we ordered. The banana butter. To die for and so unique.   It looks trendy but that's it. Fries are McDonald's grade and they serve it with emmental on top. It's just bad. Prawns we're good though overcooked. Tataki was dry too.   This place was great. They have a good menu but in the words of our very awesome waiter, stick to the items that are more unique to Cantina. The squid was as good as the menu made it seem and the tiger prawns...wow. Excellent. The wine our waiter recommended was great too. Some reviews don’t like the video idea playing but I actually thought it was kinda fun. They were playing an Amy Winehouse show so...what’s not to love? Decor and atmosphere are really great.
