  We decided to come here on vacation after reading about it online and seeing the decent reviews. Sadly, we missed the more recent reviews. The food here is mediocre and overpriced for the portion size, comparable to what you would pay in NYC. The best dish was probably the carrots, which were sweet and savory. Everything else was over salted/seasoned, though the individual components were good (eg the croquette themselves were delicious but the sauce on top literally tasted like a block of salt, and the sea bass was well cooked but again, had salt flakes on top for some reason). The food portions were pretty small. There was a charge for tap water as well.. Not sure if the food has gotten worse or the kitchens were having an off day. The table next to us actually told the servers to stop serving the rest of their order after 2 dishes, so I don’t think it was just us. Of note, service was great and the servers were very friendly. They didn’t charge us for the croquettes after we asked if it should be that salty, and they said it was slightly saltier than regular.   We ordered for starters the beetroot, the cured duck and the beef fried balls, the cured duck was very good, not chewy at all. The octopus dish was really tender with some vegetable tempura and salad vinaigrette. The beef tartare came with little puff toastadas, it had a bit too much mustard. The steak was pretty tender and the side of fries was amazing! For dessert we had the chocolate mousse with ice cream vanilla and the other fruity dessert with persimmons. Both were really good. We had the mojito tropical and the new fashion both pretty sweet.   The dishes are very tasty and the platability is very nice but yet dishes very small relative to the price. You need to order at least 2 main courses for each person. Our disappointment was when we find that they charged for the tap water and for the bread.   What a treat. We were given exquisite service to match the exquisite food (our server helped us find a bottle of wine and it was perfect; the service was warm, friendly but dazzlingly efficient). We had the cured duck to start which was lovely. Then the real stars of the show were the fish dishes we ordered- the amberjack, smoked watermelon and jalapeño dish was sublime. My partner loves gnocchi but I sometimes find it too dense and filling. Here though, was the perfect serving, small cubes of gorgeousness to complement the catch of the day (croaker, or corvina, deliciously crispy on top) and served with a sauce that made it almost like a thick bouillabaisse. Every mouthful felt like a gift. We also had the sea bass which was, again, beautiful. I’m tempted to go back here whilst we are in Porto, to try more things! Anyway I’d heartily recommend it - caveated with the fact that the plates are shared, which is my favourite way to eat (that or tasting menu! I just want to try everything and not be too full). But I know sharing plates aren’t for everyone, so if your dining partner doesn’t share your tastes, or is too greedy, then Mito might not be right for you. (Though you could come alone and hungry!) If, however, you’re ready to share absolutely sublime food and service, then Mito is a must. Muito obrigada por nos receber (Traduzido pelo Google) Que mimo.   Second visit to Mito, 2 years apart. We didn’t have a reservation but luckily got a table outside. It met all our expectations. The experience was top notch from start to finish. The service was nice and timing was great. The concept is to share which allows you to share plates. We ordered the salty Bola de Berlim which is one of my favourite starters ever. I could just have that for dinner but we also tried several other plates like sea bass (our favourite from the mains) and octopus. Desserts kept the level and didn’t disappoint. I truly believe this restaurant is on the road to a Michelin star. It is one of my favorite restaurants in Porto. We will be making a visit again, soon!   This was among the best meals I’ve had in my life. Started with the beef croquettes, followed by an excellent amberjack cevice, and a cabbage/ shimeji mushroom dish that was so delicious, we promptly ordered a second one. The BBQ sea bass was perfectly cooked with a savoury, crispy crust. The Piglet served alongside a green apple tarte tatin was singularly perfect, and the grilled octopus was so tasty, it made me forget that I don’t eat octopus on account of how smart they are.   Had a great time! 8pm reservation on a Monday in August, only one other couple was inside at the time (others outside). My wife and I had bread, croquettes, the savory donut, cabbage, fish/watermelon ceviche, sea bass, piglet, and chocolate dessert.. all were excellent. We also had a nice bottle of vino verde.   A little unreliable. Starters could have more flavour, though the beef croquettes were good. The gnocchi and fish were well made but the sauce didn't really add anything.   Disappointing Saturday night dinner. Although it was told that the idea is to share, the portions were really small. The food was tasty. We had a reservation for 10 PM and before 11PM we were out since the service was really fast. If the idea was to close doors early please don’t make reservations for 10 PM!   One star for the service just because I felt betrayed. They brought bread and butter before we have checked the menu and nobody informed us that we have to pay them. We saw it in the menu later but we already ate from the bread. The food was great, but the price were exaggerated for Porto.   Decided to come here after reading a positive article on a website, and our expectations were surpassed! If you come as a couple, we recomend sharing dishes to experience as much of the menu as possible! The Croquettes and the Octopus were our favourites, and the sea bass just melts in the mouth.   Although small portions that aren’t particularly shareable, most everything tasted great. This was the best restaurant I went to after a week in Portugal. Favorite dish was the curry.   Had a nice dinner here on a Thursday evening at 7:30pm. We were able to make an online reservation earlier that day. The waitresses were very attentive and made suggestions on what to order for food and wine. The croquettes were crispy and savory. The beet salad was fresh and had a pleasant acidity. The smoked cod tortilla could have been more set and hotter. And the beef tartar was very tasty and smooth, love the crisps to dip with. Also had a lovely white wine.   Definitely worth it but with room for improvement. We were a couple that ordered 6 dishes between us, tho 5 probably would have been enough. Good stuff: beef croquettes, pork doughnut, and sea bass with potato gratin were all interesting with the sea bass the best of the lot. The deconstructed coconut mochi dessert was tasty though difficult to eat. Not so good stuff: the dishes were under seasoned for our tastes (except the sea bass) and lacked a last dash of flavour. The cocktails were amateur, avoid them and stick with the very affordable wine list. All in all a nice experience with pleasant service, decent food, and ok prices.   After three days eating my way through Porto, Mito wins for "best lunch." Usually a hard-to-get-a-reservation dinner spot, go for their lunch menu. Usually, there are two tables saved for walk-ins. The lunch menu is small with a soup, a few main dishes, a few desserts and a drink menu. For 12 Euros I ordered the sweet potato soup (the "soup of the day"), risotto and pavlova. Before my food came out, three warm slices of bread with salted butter on a black plate came out. Every dish was well presented, tasty, and made me want more. So good! They also have two kinds of infused water (I ordered four glasses of passion fruit) and a wine list. For an extra 4 Euros, I got the table white. Local, it was very crisp and refreshing. The space itself is beautiful and the service is kind and efficient despite being under staffed and busy.   Their fixed price lunch menu was a good value. My wife and I were pleasantly surprised with the quality of food being served for such a low price. We both opted for the €12 per person lunch menu that comes with a starter, main, dessert and beverage. For starters we ordered the sweet potato tempura and the zucchini & parsley soup. Both were outstanding. I especially loved the soup. Great way to start off the meal. For the main dishes, we ordered fish mousse and the mushroom gnocchi. The fish mousse was just okay in my opinion, but the gnocchi were very tasty. Dessert was a bit of a letdown. We ordered the pistachio cheesecake and a scoop of lemon gelato. The cheesecake was more like bread pudding...just extremely soggy. And the gelato was more like sorbet. The meal started off on a high note but slowly dropped from there which was a shame.   It's not hard to find good food in Porto, but this place was a highlight. Their prix fixe lunch options range from 10€ to 15€, which is a steal for the quality they offer.   Let’s start with the positives, the restaurant is beautiful, most of the staff are helpful and attentive and the quality of the food is amazing. The negatives, the portion sizes for what you pay aren’t great and the flavour combinations in the dishes isn’t really anything I would shout home about. Most of the night I felt our table was overlooked, with the staff and chef visiting tables around us and not bothering to check in on how our food was. I enjoyed the meal but wouldn’t come back for a second visit.   This was very big disappointment for us. Unfortunately, I wish i could choose different spot if i knew how bad it will be. And it was only because of the mediocre and careless service. We came to the restaurant, had a reservation and told them the name. We were sat at the table and after 10 minutes, when they were ignoring us, we had to wave on them to get a drink. They started to look at us and whisper something, it was kind of weird. After that, they told us they mixed up our reservation and have to give us different table - ok, this was not a problem for us at all. We sat at different table and we ordered like 4 starters but we were asked that we have to order everything now. Ok, we chose something more…every time i wanted to get something to drink, i had to catch someone, because they couldn’t care less. We literally didn’t get any service. When we were served food on the table, anybody explained us what we are getting, or said bon appetit. Just silence. I didn’t expected such a careless staff at restaurant like this. We left some of the meals almost untouched, we tasted but for example we don’t like uncleaned shrimps and we had them in our risotto, so we didn’t eat it. The shrimp intestines shouldn’t be in the risotto, but ok. Anybody cared about the customer. 1 star for interior, 1 star for the starters. Bad experience, we left unhappy, anybody cared.   Mito changed us. We were absolutely blown away by the mushroom dish, but everything we tasted was on a level of excellence we have not experienced before. We are incredibly grateful to have eaten here. We arrived a few minutes after 7p and we’re able to be seated without a reservation (but everyone after us was turned away, so I wouldn’t risk that next time.)   Every plate we had was a new wonderful discovery of tastes and flavours! Me and my girlfriend shared the meat tartare, eggs with Siberian caviar and the croquettes everything was amazing!   Yum! Came across this place as it was around the corner from our accommodation and we had no reservation for any other restaurant. The food was all perfectly cooked and so tasty.   Had a pleasant time there. It was already late for lunch so we and another couple were the only ones there, which allowed us to enjoy the space and the ambient music and have quite a peaceful meal 😁. The service was good. What I really liked was the "light" nature of the dishes but yet bursting with flavour. I was specially pleased with the "Beatroot" one. I thought the prices were a bit high though.   Our meal was absolutely incredible throughout. We enjoyed the beef tartare, shrimp bao, carrots, and the monkfish and shrimp rice. All of these were fantastic, but you absolutely MUST order the monkfish and shrimp rice, it was such a complex dish. A mix between a risotto and paella with a bit of East Indian fusion in the spices. We finished our meal with the sponge toffee cake which was also great. The staff were very attentive and offered their suggestions throughout when asked. I remember coming here for the first time during the summer of 2017 and instantly loving the place. The staff is super nice, the food is great and there is a varied selection of good drinks. The lunch deal has insane value (honestly the best I've ever seen), with plenty of choices and combinations, so be sure to try having a lunch during the week. The dinner menu is great both for trying small dishes or having a big meal, such as one of their amazing steaks.   Incredible value for money and really good / innovative cooking. Great Portuguese ingredients with some Asian and Spanish influences (kimchi, sriracha, chorizo). The menu is best shared, we ordered pretty much all the small items which worked out perfectly. Ox croquettes with chorizo mayo were delicious. Soft shell crab bao could have been a bit spicier but were excellent all the same. I think they were like €6 for two! Gems like this are what makes eating out in Portugal so good.
