  Walked in without a reservation and were seated right away which was great. I thought the duck meat was good but the sauce was too sweet and they cooked the asparagus into oblivion, had no structure to it at all was just a mushy mess of asparagus. My wifes cod dish was full of bones I don’t understand why they didnt debone the cod prior to cooking… I didnt like that their only by the glass wine options were house red or house white. They sat us upstairs which was just okay, sparsely decorated but with an interesting ceiling of hanging boxes and lightbulbs. I think the lighting should be dimmer up there for better ambiance… we tried the port tonic and the port negroni which were both good. Overall its a good spot and I think you should try to eat on the first floor if you can though as its a more interesting space. Eles nos sentaram no andar de cima, o que era bom, pouco decorado, mas com um teto interessante de caixas penduradas e lâmpadas. Acho que a iluminação deveria ser mais fraca lá em cima para melhorar o ambiente… experimentamos o porto tônico e o porto negroni que estavam ambos bons. No geral, é um bom local e acho que você deveria tentar comer no primeiro andar, se puder, pois é um espaço mais interessante.

  The grilled octopus just melts in your mouth, definetely recommended. The clams-simply great. The steak with cheese sauce was also really good. Overall good quality restaurant and great service. The cheesy flan-like dessert was unfortunately not our favorite as it felt dry. I wish we would taste the chocolate mousse instead which looked so fluffy!   Intimate restaurant with impressive seafood dishes. The shrimp starter was so good we had to order a side of rice to clean the sauce (if you know you know). Duck rissois was so unique.   Visited alone and was sadly disappointed. Ordered one drink and it took 25 minutes to arrive. After 20 minutes I asked where it was and was told that ‘it’s normal for cocktails to take so long’ which, I obviously expect but this time is excessively long. I had duck which was good, I also enjoyed the sauce, but the vegetables were extremely over cooked with the asparagus virtually mush on the plate.   Attentive staff. The asparagus was a bot too much fiber. The nice balance of sauce and saltiness of duck. I would prefer if there is salt flake on the potato. I had to ask for extra salt and it came with a tiny cute bottle with „P“ 😁the bathroom was small but clean. When someone is at the sink washing hands, you cannot open the door.   We came here on a previous visit to Porto (7 years ago!) and loved it, so wanted to come back. The menu is a bit different now but it was all so good! We had the cod fishcakes and duck – I've not had such good duck. The skin was crispy and had a slight salt rub, yet the meat was tender.   We've ordered a cod and it's so plain that no matter how many salt we add did not help to give any flavor. It was also chewy and obviously long frozen and overcooked. Also ordered a Duck for main course but the asparagus was boiled rather than grilled as stated in menu. No apology nor follow up after reflecting the problem. Will never recommend this restaurant.   Great Portuguese restaurant with different options on the menu. Fish and meat croquets were nice but we didn't like the Alheira. The prawns were super fresh and tasty. And the octopus salad was mouthwatering vino verse complemented the dishes well and we loved it. Almond pudding was tasty.   We went to that restaurant due to the “good” reviews but Octopus was awful also clams , my partner had the codfish plate and it came with all shrimps without got clean from the back side . Really don’t understand the prices with the quality of food, there are a lot of places much better than this .   There are not enough words to express the evening that we had at Encaixados. It was intimate, warm, and an inviting atmosphere which brought us the best food we had not just in Porto but in Portugal. The dessert was something we had never seen but were so happy we ordered--it had us leaving with a smile. But nothing could top the hardworking and kind Bernardo. He was our server and constantly checked in on us to see if we liked the dishes that he recommended. Suffice it to say, Bernardo suggested the exact best dishes that we loved, whether it was the patron peppers with burrata and iberian ham, the stuffed eggplant or the duck magret--it not only did not disappoint but was 5-star outstanding. Bernardo worked so hard going up and down the steps to our table but was so pleasant, kind and humble--I just had to write a review about how wonderful he was--he made our evening even more special! A sobremesa era algo que nunca tínhamos visto, mas ficamos tão felizes que pedimos - - nos fez sair com um sorriso. Mas nada poderia superar o trabalhador e gentil Bernardo. Ele era nosso servidor e constantemente nos verificava para ver se gostávamos dos pratos que ele recomendava. Basta dizer que Bernardo sugeriu exatamente os melhores pratos que adoramos, sejam os pimentões padroeiros com burrata e presunto ibérico, a berinjela recheada ou o magret de pato - - não só não decepcionou, mas foi 5 estrelas excelente. Had (all small plates to share) duck rissois (meh), smoked cod carpaccio (had potential but chewy), port mushrooms (ok but sorta over done), peppers with ham and cheese (no oomph), clams (a good size serving but basic flavor), and a house red (mid at best).   The starters looked so delicious so we decided to have a tapas inspired meal. We had the clams in a wonderful lemon/seafood broth. Tasty but very little meat and perhaps more work than they’re worth. The shrimp in a spiced red sauce was amazing! We should have ordered rice or bread to eat the delicious sauce with. The meat & cheese croquettes were the best croquettes we’ve ever had. The Padron pepper/prosciutto/burrata salad was an interesting combination of flavors that I would never have thought to combine but were wonderful. We had green wine with our meal which was good quality. For dessert we split the biscuit dessert and the lime meringue pie. Sensational! What a way to end a meal!   Really was a bit let down. The salted cod fish croquettes with lime mayo were the best I’ve had so far by the Portuguese shrimp were over cooked and had a very heavy sauce. The portobello mushrooms with port were pretty blah. The key lime merengue was also somewhat heavy and not as good as other restaurants.   We’ve just had a wonderful experience at Encaixados, worthy of shouting about. We sat upstairs and were looked after by Bruno, who despite covering possibly 10 other tables didn’t miss a beat - it was the 1 in 100 level of service which makes a meal. That said the food was so good (we shared five of the sharers rather than any mains) but that was more than enough and a great variety and quality. The wines were great and plentiful.   Porto has amazing food and this was one of the best meals we’ve had during our trip to Portugal. The duck was phenomenal. The skin was cooked crispy and they cooked it the perfect medium rare. My husband fealty enjoyed the beef cheeks he ordered. The clams were so good too. Our waiter, Bernardo, was absolutely wonderful. Bernardo made excellent recommendations including a white wine and red wine that perfectly paired with the clams and the main dishes.   Average across the board. I’m baffled by the large number of high rating/reviews here. Ordered every dish people raved about (clams, mushroom, burrata/ham/pepper, octopus, meat croquette, salted cod fritters). There were some dishes in the reviews (rump pastry, loin of cod, flaming sausage) that weren’t on the menu, maybe because they’re seasonal. The only redeeming dishes worth ordering were the burrata appetizer and the octopus main dish. I booked the last table available but when we got here at 7:30pm it was almost empty and they took in many walk ins. If you’re a foodie visiting for a few days, try one of the other establishments. Not surprisingly the highly rated google restaurants in Porto were not on the list recommended by our Airbnb host.   Came to Encaixados for a very late Friday night dinner. The codfish cold starter was laminated perfectly but was not as flavourful as I would have thought. We ordered the duck and stewed beef. Despite the restaurant being nearly empty, it took over 40 minutes to receive our food. We ordered a jug of red berry sangria whilst we waited. It was quite pulpy and slightly unpleasant. The duck was fantastic but the beef seemed to come from different batches as some was quite tough. The truffle mashed potatoes were incredible.   During our stay in Porto, we found this restaurant by chance. However, it was a great chance encounter. Our starters were great, as well as the red wine we ordered. My boyfriend was lyrical about the beef cheeks saying “they were better than his mom’s”, which really says something. Bernardo and the rest of the staff were very accomodating and overall we had one of the best dining experience in Porto so far. We highly recommend anyone to dine here (make a reservation beforehand because they fill up quickly we noticed).   One of our favorite meals in Portugal. We ordered crispy alheira, shrimp fitted, port mushrooms, duck magret, and cookie cake dessert last night. Everything was delicious. Our waiter took care of the entire main floor, and he did an excellent job serving everyone and making great recommendations on a busy night.   Such a great find in Porto! The restaurant is uniquely and beautifully decorated. The staff were very friendly and offered great suggestions.   We reserved an 8PM table on a Monday night. We really enjoyed our dining experience as Encaixados. Our party of two was offered the last 4 top on the cozy main floor dining space (there was also an upstairs dining room). The extra table space allowed us to spread out as we ordered soda water and bottle of red wine to begin our meal. I opted to start dining with meat and cheese croquettes while my partner opted for prawns. Both starters were delicious. For mains I went with beef cheeks which I had never had before. The tender meat and hearty flavor was delicious! The service was good and our server spoke english well. She helped my companion who needed gluten free options navigate the food menu. Each course of our meal was excellent! We did starters, mains, and dessert. I cannot think of anything that we did not love about the food. The main dishes only had seafood or one option was duck, ofcourse still a lot to choose from but having no red meat at all (also no snacks with meat to eat as tapas) was quite disappointing.   Unfortunately, the rave reviews didn’t live up to our expectations at all when we dined here this week. I ended up with food poisoning which ruined a whole night/day of our family trip. I was up all night severely unwell. The only thing I ate differently to everyone else was the cod/prawn dish. It was very salty, and I just wasn’t sure about it but ate it anyway. It left a horrible taste in my mouth the rest of the hours before I became unwell. I also asked for the dish to be served without prawns…and they served it with prawns. I originally asked for the aubergine dish to be made dairy free as I am intolerant, but they said they couldn’t make it without cheese for some reason. The whole meal was just chaotic to be honest. My brother ordered some croquettes which he didn’t enjoy. The waitress came over after my family had already eaten them and told us they actually served us the wrong dish - hence the reason he didn’t like them as it was a completely different thing to what he ordered! He also ordered some prawns to arrive with all of our mains which came ages after we’d finished everything. Not sure if we can on an off night…but food poisoning, chaotic service and wrong dishes being served is not my idea of a restaurant with such high ratings. A garçonete veio depois que minha família já os tinha comido e nos disse que eles realmente nos serviram o prato errado - daí a razão pela qual ele não gostou deles, pois era uma coisa completamente diferente do que ele pediu! Ele também ordenou que alguns camarões chegassem com toda a nossa alimentação, o que veio muito depois de terminarmos tudo.   The place is nice however the waitress either wasn't very good in English or wasn't having a good day. The appetizers were OK but nothing exceptional. We wanted to try the cod fish seeing that it's a local specialty, but it was tough quite fishy. We particularly didn't enjoy and another waiter told us that indeed the cod is a salted cod and remains quite tough. Had we known from the menu or waitress we would have opted for the meat plates. I am not sure as to why the place is ranked so high. Definitely not more than 4 stars.   Very disappointed experience after being recommended this restaurant. We tried the prawns, clams and mushrooms for starter and shared the duck main. All the dishes were mediocre, lacking in flavour and salt. We ordered the duck medium but it came very rare. The purée with the duck needs improvement. Besides that the staff was kind and attentive.   Very disappointed :( I had the Beef cheeks and my husband had the fish pie. Both dishes were not hot when they arrived. The chips were also hard, not cooked through. We asked if they could just cook it more so the dishes were cooked through. Very kind waiter agreed and they cooked it again for us - same thing again ! It took 5mins and the dishes were back !   A culinary experience. A must in Porto. Encaixados leaves nothing to be desired. The service was exceptional; rarely have I been served so well, so politely, and so kindly. And the food... The food. We had the Octopus Salad as an appetizer, and for the main course, we had the Duck and the Octopus Tentacles... Wow. We spent a week in Lisbon and Porto, and this was definitely our favorite. It was a wonderful evening that I wouldn't want to miss. Thank you again to Encaixados.   I asked for fully cooked duck but it turned out the staff told the kitchen medium rare. No staff asked me whether the food is ok only until I almost finished my meal. I thought people have different standards so tried to eat some parts as much as I could (but it wasn't enjoyable as many parts are just far too raw). Told another staff again when paying the bill and no apologies at all and the staff only blamed me for not speaking to them earlier (but no one paid attention to me earlier). Flavour wise is good as long as they can tell the kitchen correctly how you want your meat to be cooked. Won't be back due to the staff.   Encaixados is a nice little restaurant set in a cozy locale in Porto. Everything coming out of the kitchen looked and smelled wonderful, including what we ordered. Getting a reservation is recommended. (Note that if you dine late they may have run out of some of the items on the menu.)   My husband and I loved everything we ordered here! The staff was extremely helpful and accommodating when recommending suggestions. We ordered the clams, port mushrooms, garlic-chili prawns, duck, side salad and still had a little room for their amazing desserts. The drinks were great as well. The place is beautiful and romantic.   Dined here based on the very positive reviews. It was average at best. Duck rice felt like it was a side - quite dry when ordered as a meal. The cod dish was average in flavour. Difficult to get a table for 6 people even with a private room reserved for 22h and at the end we were placed in front of the entrance door which was not a good experience because of the cold and permanent door open.   I honestly expected more, especially when looking at their high ratings. The fried balls codfish was soggy and without much taste and bones in them. I do not know know why, but for the love of God this restaurant cannot make potato fries if their life depended on it, we had to send three portions of fries back, because they simply did not know how to make them. The meat was fine. However, both my wife and I ordered medium rare and got them practically raw. The goat cheese with walnuts and flaky pastry was good, so there were no complaints there.   A cosy, fun place for dinner. The decor is really calm and stylish, service was so friendly throughout and the prices were reasonable. However, similar to a couple of other experiences we’ve had at other Porto restaurants, there seems to be some sort of review manipulation going on. This place is patently average and is a straight-up tourist trap. Generous portions of under-seasoned, overpriced food. We had the meat croquettes, goat cheese balls and the baked eggplant as well as the bread service. Wine was solid, service was excellent. Buyers beware.   I really loved the vibe of this restaurant, I think it’s a great place for a nice dinner date. Waiters are very friendly and explain everything well. Just be careful portions are big, so with 2 starters we couldn’t finish the main courses at all, especially thinking they also come with sides. The food was ok, but maybe its about our taste, it wasn’t “amazing”. I especially don’t recommend the cod feijoada, also if you want to steak, seriously recommend to have the sauce on the side.   Had some excellent food in Porto but was a bit of a miss in my books. We were seated upstairs and ordered as per recommendations by the server. Clams were plentiful and delicious. Cod cakes were sadly bland and also under seasoned. Octopus + potato + veg was tender but again, honestly so under-seasoned.   Very underwhelmed. The food looks good but the taste leaves a lot to be desired. After 3 weeks of travelling Portugal these were the worst prawns and clams we had. No flavour. We ordered the cod which looks pretty, but did not taste good. We’ve never had salted cod before, so it could be that but we could not even finish it. Sangria was yummy!! Would not recommend.   What an awesome atmosphere and great service to boot. And of course what you're there for...the delicious meal! For sides, the rice, mushrooms in port sauce, and salad (with the steak) were solid. Chips were decent though salt would have been great to have with. For mains, the steak and the puff pastry were right on. Probably would skip the sausage side though the sauce it was served with is one of those sauces that could go with anything!   Amazing food. Cozy space. The waiter was attentive and friendly. Be sure to make a reservation as this place has limited seating and it fills up fast! They have online bookings which is clutch. We had the meat croquettes, beet and chicken rissois, and the fried goat cheese. All were super tasty, especially the croquettes. Perfectly fried and a buttery smooth texture inside. Highly recommend. Our mains were the steak with Serra cheese sauce and the roasted duck. Highly recommend the duck, perfectly cooked and the sweet potato mash was a rich complement. The steak was good, but the cheese sauce is quite rich so it is very filling. For dessert we had the biscuit cake and it was fantastic. Rich and buttery with crisp biscuit… a real highlight.   Compared to other Portuguese restaurants, we were somewhat disappointed: The cod just swam in oil, the bread crumbs were not really crispy, and so on. The Oreo cheesecake was good but not really a cheesecake. Service was okay, but we had far better. The ambience was nice, but you (and especially your clothes) smell a lot like food and grease. All in all, it was just mediocre - wouldn’t recommend for a Portuguese (or other) experience. The staff were very attentive and sweet, the food was great and the prices were fair.   Came here on our first night in Porto. Food was nice enough but nothing that blew up away. The portion of the cod fish was generous. Interesting take of the traditional salt fish and the combination of honey and thyme worked well. Great for a sort of date night but if on holiday I would recommend more authentic places which would also be much cheaper. Our server was nice but we felt a little neglected upstairs.   It is a shame that we left Porto because I would come back again to Encaixados. The service was great, very friendly and making sure that we were having a good dinner. We set near the bar as the place is very compact, but we could smell the toilet. N had a glimpse of the guy making the sangria. My God. He put so many syrups n coloring.
