  This place is a gem. We were directed here by a waiter in Lisbon who knew that we were going to Porto. Superb food and service. Sadly only here for 2 nights but we went on each of them and would happily go back. My partner had Monkfish, Prawns and Rice on both nights. I had grilled squid on night one and then Goat/Kid the next night. All food was truly delicious. Cannot recommend this place highly enough.   Very disappointing. The shrimp was over cooked and tough. The fish was ok but somewhat plain. The vegetables on the side was a strange coleslaw, not steamed vegetables.   The Abadia do Porto restaurant is very big, inside the have tables on the first floor and in the baseman. Place looks very clean and organized. The service it was good but our waiter was a bit pushy and want us to order what he wanted. Other than that it was ok. We has the tomahawk that it came with salad and fries, the seasoning it was different on the tomahawk but it was really good.   We actually already had our first round of food while walking around so this second round we didnt order much. The bacalhau fritters are great, it smells n taste soooo good so I finished it all by myself, mom like grilled fish n her friend tried octopus.   Abadia was one of the nearby dining suggestions from our hotel, and I'm glad we visited. It was a linen tablecloth, exquisitely professional dinner presentation that was both a meal and an experience. My wife elected to go with the local specialty - tripe stew with beans and meat. If something has a long history, regardless of how appealing it may sound from the name alone, there's a good chance that it will be really good if you are brave enough to give it a try. That was certainly the case with the tripe. We were both glad we got to taste it. I chose a delightful roast pork for my dinner, and was equally happy. Every table at Abadia had something interesting - a smaller table next to it, that the black aproned wait staff used as individualized serving stations. Large portions arrived at the table, and an ample amount of food was plated while we watched, and abundant amounts of additional servings sat waiting for us to get to them. Service was of the old school, professional kind, making our evening at Abadia an exceptional one.   Great atmosphere, great food, kind people. It’s a bit expensive for backpackers like myself, but it’s totally worth it as far as I am concerned. Having wild boar chop steak was great experience for me - note that in Korea it’s not a common thing to eat. The texture was a chewy, but it never is overcooked nor awful. Rather, it was very fine, great dish. A dish of octopus in olive oil was also great, very soft and well cooked. Our server knew the dishes very well, and this was a ‘plus’ for this restaurant.   A really good restaurant for Portuguese food . They have the specific recipes and at a large quantity , which explains the prices. The personal was really nice and attentive with us. They explained everything from the menu or answered our questions . The cheese were really tasty and the octupus really well done.   Everything here was excellent. The waiter was fun, funny, and interacted extremely well with us. He had a great sense of humor, engaged with the kids, gave us recommendations, helped us with pronunciation (we all speak some amount of Spanish, but almost no Portuguese!) He was generally just a fantastic person. The food was also amazing. For starters, we got the bolhinas de bacalau, which were just amazing. Then, I got the traditional kale soup (caldo verde) and the pork belly. The pork belly came with shoestring fries. All of it was amazing. Everything had garlic and olive oil on it, providing a delightful flavor. I made sure to push my fries around in it to soak up everything after I consumed my pork belly with vigor. The pork belly itself was perfectly cooked and had garlic all over it, which I LOVED. My family had other dishes as well, all of which were confirmed delicious. Then we all shared dessert, each getting something different. I got the Tocinhou da Céu (I think it was called), which was delightful in flavor and light in texture. I was told it was made with pumpkin, eggs, and almonds. There was powdered sugar on top, and I ate every bite with gusto. Highly recommend this restaurant. Everything here is fantastic.   We had an absolutely delightful evening here for a dinner with our family including young kids (8,6,4,2). We found the staff to be understanding and accommodating and engaging with the kids.   This was a recommendation from our hotel. But oh my this is such a great place. It large enough that I don’t need reservations for our group of 6. The waiters look like they’ve worked there since they were young men but they are so efficient and such great service. We came back a second time before we left Porto and we’re so happy we were served again by Luis. He gives honest recommendations and we loved everything he suggested. I’d come back here again anytime over that if any trendy restaurants by the waterfront or to watch the sunset over the Duoro. I mean you have to do that as a tourist but this place is so authentic.   It was a busy Saturday evening so we had to wait a bit to be seated. It's a spacious restaurant, and we were seated near the stairs, so it was a bit cold. The food was ok, not all of it was amazing. The caldo verde was really good and the veal had a perfect cuisson. The cod fritters however were not as good as the previous restaurant I reviewed. Although the octopus was perfectly cooked, the rest of the dish lacked seasoning. I also didn't like how I was rushed to finish my fritters, where the waiter took away my plate while I was having my last bite. The dessert was awesome.   Went there twice in the matter of 3 days, great place lots of space big portions and the seafood is wonderful, the octopus is very delicious both as an entree and main dish, the salmon is a huge portion, they have a great variety of wine selections the service is great they both speak in Spanish Portuguese and French a little bit of English as well I also tried the Tomahawk Steak and that was wonderful but heads up it will take 40 minutes to for them to prepare it.   I just tried the tripas and I must say I loved them. The plate costs 11€ but I would say that for the quality and the quantity (it was hard to finish it for me) it is totally worth it. The atmosphere is very classic, the service was very attentive and respectful, the food came fast, bathrooms were clean. All and all a very good experience.   This place wants to be upscale, but the food is very low scale. Why ruining the fish like this? Breading and deep frying - this is cheap bistro style. Also the menu said it comes with rice and fries, but it was served with rice and beans - the left over from the dish with the sardines!? Because they were out. All in all, not a place to recommend.   Very elegant and fine dining restaurant. Local speciality dishes perfectly cooked. Liked it so much, we went twice. Had octopus, sardines, monkfish rice with prawns, steak and grilled cod fish in olive oil. For desserts there was a coffee and wafer cake, something like creme brulé, and one with an egg combination, cannot remember the name but very good.   We were told the baccalau takes 20 mins when we placed the order, we ended up waited one hour! We also had the veal which was really tender. The traditional food is good quality ( I rate 9 out of 10) but the service needs to improve (I rate 4 out of 10) the least they could do is to inform the customer it takes longer.   We found this restaurant during a one day stay in Porto and went there for dinner. The service was excellent and fast. We both had fish (salmon and seabream) which were both excellently cooked and really tasty. The portions were big and we left the place well fed. Prices are also very reasonable.   We make sure to stop at Porto just to eat there! The food is delicious...the portions are huge and the price seems like a joke! The restaurant is huge and has many different rooms, it is gorgeous inside. So cheap and so delicious. The staff is super friendly. On our last visit, we were served by Manuel, which made the night even better. We had as entrée Salgadinhos (fryed specialties) and the most delicious Octopus Salad we've ever had. Then our kid had the Peru empanado with rice and beans (half a portion is enough for two!!!!) and we had the amazing Bacalhau de Broa, Cod fish with a corn bread crust with potatoes.... fricking amazing! Delicious, and again, the portion for 1 is enough for two. If you're at Porto, don't fall on the many tourist traps and head to Abadia do Porto, as it is a local's favorite.   Should be somewhere between 2/3 stars for the food, but I’ll bump it to 3 ONLY because of the service. We ordered the traditional sausage platter as an appetizer and it was phenomenal. The selections were smoky and delicious, however it is a LOT of meat for just 2 people. Perhaps they can offer a 1/2 size portion for 2, as the full serving can easily feed 4. The main course lost us completely. We ordered the fried cod noodles dish as well as the monkfish rice, and in both dishes the fish was VERY OVERCOOKED. It was a disappointment seeing this from such a well regarded traditional restaurant. We were pressed for time so we didn’t have it redone, but we were not confident in how it would’ve come out again considering how overdone it was to begin with. Also, entree portion sizes are HUGE, you only need 1 dish to easily finish between 2 people! The desserts we ordered were good, nothing to rave about but nothing to complain about either. The service is where they shine, however. The waiters were attentive, kind, and very thorough. They didn’t linger at the table in a creepy way, but they were definitely present in case we needed something. Assuming they can fix their main courses and figure out portions for their apps, this place is a complete winner. Not the best meal you can get for ~$60 between 2 people, but definitely not the worst.   We visited with recommendation of our Gate 1 tour guide and were happy we did. The staff brought us an English menu and our waiter spoke English making ordering much easier for us tourists. We were delighted our shared dish of cod and potatoes. It was delicious and filling. We ordered a dark beer which was fine and cold. The restaurant space was relaxing and everything was orderly.   Deceptively huge. From the outside it looks no more than a modest sized place but it's huge inside. I loved the decor and the staff, it was all from a more gentle time. The food was fantastic, freshly cooked to perfection and the waiters were all very friendly. I would love to go back, give them a try you won't be disappointed.   Ordered the Portuguese sausages as starters which were very good. The main dishes we took were not typical Portuguese dishes. The steak with peppered sauce was ordinary but good. The fries and rice that come with it were good too. I didn't like the fact that there were a lot of families and it was quite a noisy restaurant.   We were recommended this place by a couple of locals for traditional Portuguese food that is for the locals as well as tourists. It didn’t disappoint. We started with the local cheese plate and it was great but maybe too much for 2 of us. We took some back to our Airbnb for later. We loved the grilled Octopus it was amazing and tender. Being our first experience with Fried cod we weren’t expected all the bones but quickly adapted and enjoyed the dish. Another reviewer said it was a tour bus restaurant; we happened to notice there is a bus garage across the street so maybe they were confused. It was busy and we were happy to have made reservations.   Great place, very friendly staff, very good food. It was our last night in the city and we stopped by this place without any prior planning. Even though they were very busy, they were able to find us a table. However, I suggest you make a reservation to avoid the wait. We ordered some starters, soup for the kids and a steak for two. They brought the states and the soup very fast, which we really appreciated, since kids were hungry. A little bit later they brought the steak which not only tasted great, but was also accompanied by various sides - chips, rice, and more which all were great. Even though we were full at this point, we decided to get some desserts and I'm happy we did. The desserts with a glass of great porto wine were a great ending for the dinner and our vacation in general. We will definitely come back next time we are in Porto!   Excellent traditional porto restaurant. My sea bass was one of the best fish I have ever had in Europe. This is the sixth visit of Europe. I also had a glass of Amos Pintos 20 year Tawny Port wine which cost 10 euros. Personally I am not a big fan of sweet wine, but I loved this one.
