  One of the best meals I've had in Portugal. Delicious meal and drinks. Highly recommend the passion fruit sangria. The mozzarella and tomato appetizer was delicious and the onion steak sandwich was so yummy! The chips and guacamole was so fresh. Definitely want to go back again.   A most excellent steak sandwich. We were tempted here by the reviews and pictures. Pregar doesn't disappoint. The rolls are soft but have a bite. The steak is cook medium rare, tender and melts in your mouth. We shared 1 onion and 1 mustard, cutting them in half with a butter knife... Fries on the side with a horseradish, lime mayo, delicious!   We stopped by the place based on reviews. Staff is nice and the frech fries were good. Burgers are really, really bad. I did not finish my burger because it felt like eating stone. The bun is cold, and the meat is really heavy. Unfortunately, my husband was super hungry and ate his burger. He started to feel sick 3-4h hours later and spent this evening throwing up at the toilet. :( Maybe we got really unlucky here 😕 i dont know, but I definitely do not recommend burgers Edit. My husband got proper food poisoning and spent all night vomiting and having diarrhea. So I really do not recommend this place to eat meat.   This is a small place but BIG on service. Staff is so friendly. When we came in the evening they were full but they were quick to open up a cellar section for us! Must try the Carpaccio cod fish starter. It’s awesome. The fish is so well seasoned. Other outstanding dishes are their signature burger in the hot sauce and the lime pie. I personally would have asked for the burger to be medium rare. Well done wasn’t my style. But the presentation and the explanation from our awesome server - Diogo - on how to cut the burger in 2 was really appreciated. Also must try are the flight of 3 Porto wines - Ruby (young), LBV (5-ish years aged) and the 10 year aged wine. Too sweet for me but overall a great experience.   Wonderful place! I loved the Francesinha and my husband really enjoyed his garlic steak sandwich, so much that he’s made me promise we can go back for another before we leave Porto. The atmosphere might be a bit better if there wasn’t so much construction directly outside but that’s not anything they can control. We highly recommend if you’re in the mood for a great sandwich!   We were very lucky getting in with a reservation. They had the one table left at the front window which they were reluctant to give up. Thankfully, they did. Best spot in the house in our opinion.   A beautiful and very small restaurant with delicious food a wonderful service. We were afraid we may not get in but only had a short wait for a table without a reservation. The service was attentive and friendly. We ordered nachos- which is tortilla chips with guacamole, a francesinha, and a beef sandwich with fries. All were hot and fresh and very tasty. The beef sandwich was our favorite. For dessert we had the chocolate mousse and the passion fruit tart, both were very good but the crust on the tart was a little mushy. Still we would recommend this place for anyone. The seats are all high and only 18 total places in the restaurant make it a tight fit so may not be right if you have mobility issues.   We got to this place shortly after it opened and there were only a couple tables without reservations. Shortly after it was packed with a queue outside so I'd recommend you get a reservation in advance. The staff were very friendly and quick. I ate the francesinha and it was absolutely delicious. I would also highly recommend the lime cake for dessert. As far as atmosphere goes it feels very nice, cozy and modern on the inside, the only reason for my average review is that one of the walls is essencially a big mirror, and I personally hate that.   What happened to you Pregar??? I waited all year to return and continue my fun and eating great food. Wow! How the mighty have fallen! This is truly sad news!! The food is still amazing but the staff ruin any chance they have at being great. If you are a Foreigner or non local you get treated very badly now and they straight up lie to your face! One waiter that's been there a long time told us the tap water was not drinkable in porto and then refused to bring us water. He intentionally forgot our drinks and food for a long time and never returned to help. While other people that spoke Portuguese were helped flawlessly. I understand this is their country but where is the Portuguese pride? Where is the pride of being a good person? Where are the old management team? The place was so much better in the past. It makes me sad to say but you should avoid this place at all costs. There is better food in porto as the food scene has grown so much. Have you had the RIBS restaurant yet? If not you need to. Pregar should take classes from them to see what true customer service is like. As much as I like the food here the staff make everything sour. You can get a sparkling sangria anywhere in porto as well as their best sandwich. I will be spreading the word to all my people in the states that I have convinced to come eat here over the past 3 years that this place is now a waste of time. So sad!!!!   If there is a queue do not wait. We waited outside for an hour with just two couples in front of us. Either reserve a table or aim to get there at 3pm. There is no downstairs available so there is only one floor of tables (about 10). The steak sandwich was really yummy! The francesinha was interesting to try (maybe better to try somewhere else - we got this rather than a starter). I would stick with two steak sandwiches. The fries are good but nothing special compared to other restaurants. You could just get one to share as they are made in the kitchen and left to be served.   We stopped in Pregar for lunch and were very pleased with the food as well as the service. We had a steak sandwich(cheese & caramelized red onion) as well as a traditional Francesinha. The steaks was prepared perfectly; medium rare as I had asked. We also had fries with the mayo-horseradish-lime sauce, an interesting combination that just "works". The restaurant is small and with construction on the street at the time of this review there was no outside seating. Because of this it's important to wait *outside* and one of the lovely gentlemen working there will be sure to take care of you.   The prego steak sandwiches did not disappoint! We ate near closing time in the evening and even then the quality of both food and service were still great! We ordered a francesinha, and it was so great that we ordered an onion prego! Staff were really friendly and made sure we were happy, it was an overall great experience.   Maybe the best restaurant we visited in Porto. At dinner time you always have to wait in line to get one of the 16 seats. The waitress was very nice. The menu is simple and nice. Had some Starters, Main and Dessert and everything was spotless. The best was by far the Chicken Sandwich which was very juicy. One of the spots I would recommend as a "must have" in Porto.   Food was amazing! Had the chicken salad with their original steak sandwich and they were great. Although a little on the salty side, still one of the best food i had in Porto so far. Reason for the 3.5 star is because of the server,, we were given 4 euro worth of change in combinations of 5 cents and 10 cents… I saw the waiter using larger coins with the previous customer (who did not tip btw),, but got the feeling he wanted some tip from us, which we were going to give anyways, so he purposely gave small changes so we wouldn’t take it.   This place was one of the jewels found in Portugal. Their ingredient quality is impecable, with uninamously the best Pregos sandwich we have ever encountered, a nice selection of Portuguese wines like the “Vinho Verde” from the Minho region, and beautiful plating. The staff was friendly, effective. The music was great, and the prices amazing for the food quality offered. We were a group of travelers from the Netherlands, Colombia, Turkey, Germany and Portugal and had to force ourselves to not come back so often. Not to miss if you’re in Historical Porto.   Fantastic place, slightly hidden in the side alley by the construction site. They have wonderful reviews and not without a reason - the steak sandwich I had there was heavenly. I asked for medium rare and I got it, bloody but exceptionally soft piece of steak in great bun.   This little place is great! So much so that we are here twice while in Porto. It's tiny, with seating for only 18, possibly 20 in a pinch. But it doesn't feel cramped, however, due to the creative use of mirrors. The service is attentive, friendly and cheerful. The menu is not extensive with only a few starters, salads, steak sandwiches, and a few burger offerings. They also offer wines and beer (they look like a small wine bar). But the food coming out of the TINY! kitchen is well prepared and presented. I ordered two different steak sandwiches, both medium rare, that were perfectly cooked. My wife had a chicken salad one night and the chicken sandwich the second night, and said they were both good. On the first night my sandwich, a side of fries, her salad, water, and a glass of wine cost 30 euros. The second night, our sandwiches, two small salads, water, and a large beer totalled 35 euros.   Lovely little restaurant. Went in twice during my week in Porto, both times in a fairly big group so got seated downstairs. Had the francesinha both times and the 2nd was somehow even better than the first. The steak is perfectly cooked (rare) and there's a depth to the flavour in the sauce that really makes it something special. And that 2nd one just had another level to the sauce. It was richer, spicier & just better. Some friends had the 300 burger which went down well and certainly looked very good. I'd have had one if we'd ended up there again!   Great place to have steak sandwich. I have to wait for half an hour so better to reserve a spot since it seems to be always busy. The portions are a bit small but so the prices, therefore it is justified. I had a tuna tataki as a starter and asked for olives which didn’t disappoint at all. Then I went for garlic steak sandwich . The meat was done perfectly, one of the bests I have tried. But it was a bit salty and the bread was a bit too wet at some parts.   Had an incredible dinner here. Ordered the tuna tataki to start, the garlic steak sandwich, with fried, and the raspberry ice cream. It was all incredible.   Interesting someone posted a menu two weeks ago and today when I went, the prices already increased from 8,50 to 9,50€! I think the sandwiches are overpriced for what you get. It’s really small. Other sandwich places are selling it for much cheaper. But the steak sandwich was really good! Just not 9,50 good. Also had ice cream and you get really tiny scoops, not a full sized scoop for 4€.   Went there based on a recommendation by my Airbnb host - it is a small sandwich shop that is fantastic. Due to all the construction scaffolding (~Apr 2022) and the entrance to the place is obscured you might not find it easily. It is right behind Puro 4050, which is easily spotted. I was going to choose a particular sandwich but the manager recommended I try the Francesinha - boy am I glad I listened. I've not had too many of these, but it was the best I've had. A couple local folks who I talked also mentioned this was one of the best in Porto if not all of Portugal!! I really enjoyed it ... it comes with fries. All went down very smoothly. Also packed a few things to go for my wife and she too thought her stuff was also very good.   Spent few days in Porto and this was my favorite place. Just loved it. The service is 5 stars the people who work there are super friendly, the nicest ever!!!! I simply went with thier recommendations for my drinks and I did not regret it. They were very flexible for example in my order to remove ingredients that I didn't want. Unlike other places in Porto that puts amuse-bouche on your table that you didnt ask fir and without telling you that you'd be charged if touch it, in Pregar they brought us a set of all thier sauces that were on the menu just to try them for free. I had a “Prego” of Lombo with melted Serra da Estrela and I will eat the same sandwich again for sure. My friends had the Francesinha and it was the best with tried so far and the spicer too.   i was really excited to try the steak sandwiches here after looking at the photos. pros: perfectly cooked medium-rare sirloin steak. cons: too salty (also with the added bacon, didn’t really taste the garlic spread. this dandy would have been perfect if it wasn’t so salty and if i could taste the garlic more (i got the “garlic sandwich” bc of it). the cod carpaccio/ceviche salad was on the bland side, unfortunately. it could use a little like for a fresh citrus flavor. or any flavor, really. overall the food had potential except for the seasoning issues. but the beef was one of the most perfectly cooked steak i’ve had 👍🏻…most places are over cooked even when you asked for medium-rare.   I usually don't review restaurants, but this one 100% deserves it. They serve the best quality, the tastiest food you can get. We went there twice and were amazed how good everything was. We ordered raw tuna, tortillas with guacamole (as good as when I was in Mexico), mozzarella di bufala (perfectly seasoned, paired with good quality olive oil and soft cherry tomatoes), traditional sandwich (the meat was amazing in both texture and flavor), fries (which I don't know how they make it that good for €1) and paired it with great dry wine.
