  Quite a nice place for breakfast, but with some comments to add. Food was ok, but I would recommended to work a little bit on the presentation on the plate, add sauces, small salad for toast for example. It would look more nice. Tables are not very big, place is limited for you, it is not very comfortable to sit for a while. You just want to have your breakfast and go further. I haven’t enjoyed the atmosphere and comfort.   American style restaurant with great breakfast food, do not come here if looking for portuguese food! The food was good and satisfying. The service was a little weird one server was really nice and kind and the other was super rushed. Our food came out quickly.   Touristy trap. The service is poor, the portions are tiny. Ordered pancakes and laughed when they arrived. They’re 3-4 times smaller than they’re supposed to be. All their fruit juices are excellent with fresh fruits every day. I expecially loved the eggs benedict and the greek pancakes, and we liked it so much that on a stay of 6 days in Porto we went there 4 times to have a brunch. So one of the several waiters came and delivered a menu - once I said I knew what I wanted, he asked me to kindly wait. So I waited for 7 minutes and watched as none of the many waiters would come (it wasn’t even that busy) and finally take my “complex” order - so I just had to walk out. I was going to give them one star but the ambiance is nice enough they get an extra one.   Not recommended Since the place is being hyped on several apps (among the top 5 of the breakfast locations?!) and we thought we’d give it a try. It was crowded with tourists, which doesn’t necessarily has to be a bad thing. But if locals go somewhere too, it’s usually a proof of quality and good value. Well, we left pretty unhappy. Okay: We’ll organized waiting even completely packed. Short waiting to get a table. Once we ordered, fast preparation of the food. Not okay: Waitperson inattentive. Had to wave to order and to ask a couple of times for same things. Surprisingly eggs benedict which I love and have ordered many times on different continents came fast but were served not more than luke warm. Hollandaise sauce is a difficult thing. That’s why you go out and have somebody prepare it for you. This one was definitely NOT made from scratch. (Could detect a floury consistency which is a hint for starch, flour or some other stabilization product which is definitely not the recipe). There were more small things we didn’t like very much, like small portions and watery tea. So this is not a recommendation. There are other places which are much better.   There is a really big brunch culture in Porto and just like with other Cafés, go to Mercador Cafe early (ideally when they open at 9am or later after the first bunch of people left). Nestled in the center of Porto, the historic building and interior design catches your eye. They have a large indoor seating area (great for groups) as well as a few tables outside (in winter months, there is no sun shining into the street in the morning). Menu is the equal to what is offered in other places (eggs, pancakes etc) but I came to try out their Cacao bowl. It comes with frozen banana, cacao, peanut butter and almond milk topped with house granola and fruit (7,90€). The best thing of the bowl was the food design however the mix of ingredients and taste didn’t satisfy my taste. (….says the health Coach and Breakfast Bowl specialist ;-) ) The flat white coffee was okay but nothing compared to other speciality coffee shops in town (I share more in my Google reviews). Are you vegan? Overall there are very little options for vegans and Avo Toast for 8.90€ is pricey. so I would recommend other places nearby. What I liked about this cafe is that they sell nice mugs, bowls and cups and they offer yummy croissants and pastries.   This place is pretty packed! I was able to snag a seat with a short wait and really enjoyed the egg royale breakfast. The yolk was deep orange and perfectly cooked. Not runny but not hard. Almost like caramel! Smoked salmon was pretty good too. You won’t be looking for lunch after this hearty meal. I would give the 4.5 mainly because the dish could’ve used a bit of greens on the side.   Really doesn’t need any more reviews cuz it’s so popular, but after eating a zillion wonderful breakfasts/brunches at this family owned and run place, I recently discovered their weekly lunch menu. Wow. The specials. So great. By the way, this is pretty much a “quinta to table“ kind of place - a lot of what is served and cooked here is from the family farm.   Absolutely loved it. From the second we got in we felt trully welcomed. The atmosphere is chilled, relaxing, chic and modern, simple menu, very few options but they are fresh and extremely tasty. They seated our large group at a couple neighboring tables, and service was super fast.   Today we came here and we had a very nice breakfast. It gets busy very quickly so try to come early in the morning or book a table. Otherwise you might need to wait a little bit.
