  We absolutely loved our honeymoon experience here. It was everything we were looking for - excellent food (I would highly recommend their interpretation of a brás), great, unique, warm environment, and excellent service. Their sommelier recommended a great pairing for the a brás, and our main server offered and allowed me to see their kitchen (!!). They do A LOT with the space they have and crank out very good that's highly refined. Cool place with top-notch cuisine and great cocktails. Very accommodating with our dietary restrictions on short notice, and that's no small fear with how busy they were. They have to be very, very close to obtaining a Michelin star, and deservedly so. Locals love this place and it came recommended many times when we mentioned it to folks during our time in Porto. We'd love to go back.   WE started with the 2 Michelin star restaurant for lunch and then went here for dinner. the chef came over to our table both time which was a very nice touch. However, the dinner was made special by one gentlemen name Phillip at DOP. He went ahead and put together a 4 course dinner and chose the entrees and apps to give us the best experience. the attention to detail at this place is immaculate. definitely became one of my top reasons to visit Porto again!   It's my surprise birthday dinner and they have made some impression. It's not like the standard Michelin star restaurant, it has the night club's feeling as the music is loud (but sounds nice) and we can order dishes to share. It's a kind of new experience. The dessert is impressive, normally I don't really like dessert with chocolate that much but this 'blue moon" style dessert is just a"wow ". A great Portuguese wine list and excellent sommelier - prices very reasonable too. Rui Paula was around but not overly present. A great experience and I would recommend highly when in Porto.   The venue itself is fine, we loved the lady at the reception though, she’s a total vibe. The service is extremely slow despite the waiters being lovely and absolutely professional. We (a couple) were set at a tiny table and waited for at least 10 minutes before even being offered a menu - later on, we had only 2 starters by the time we’ve sat there for 1h 20 min. The food was delicious but the dishes are tiny and expensive. You can expect to pay 32€ for 5 cubes of tuna or 22€ for a tentacle of octopus. We were glad to receive our bowl of (overcooked) Asian rice because that helped us fill our stomachs. Honestly, it was so tiring to wait for our food, once it arrived it was done in seconds anyway because there was barely anything to eat on the plates.   A COMPLETE DISASTER!!!! After returning a raw and undercooked chicken satay starter the very same half portion of semi eaten pieces of satay were brought back to our table. The restaurant staff were rude and inhospitable and ruined our dining experience. Apparently Chef Rui Paula has a “take it or leave it attitude” and couldn’t care less about his customer’s experience. I WILL NEVER RETURN TO DOP AGAIN! It was my partner’s birthday and they brought a small cake with a candle, which was nice. The bathrooms are very beautiful. Definitely recommended!   I spent a while researching somewhere special to eat for my partner's birthday and eventually settled for DOP. The location is central and convenient, I wasn't a huge fan of the decor and lighting (but this is personal preference) My issue, unfortunately, was with the food. I ordered the tacos to start, which were fine - nothing to call home about. My main (a fish dish) was very bizarrely served with a fried mushroom (which was completely inedible, very greasy and cooked in seemingly old oil) alongside a plate of mushroom pasta(?!). The three components of the fish made little sense together unfortunately.   It recently got a makeover. It went downhill very fast. Waiting times for the table were very long, despite having a reservation. Waited in the bar, where it took them 10 min to even acknowledge us and another 10 to bring our drinks. Same at the table. Very slow service. Table not emptied before new course arrived. We got a starter and a main. The pasta was overcooked and sticky, the fish was also overcooked and dry. Didn’t eat my main, sent it back, told the waiter it gave me nausea, and got so sick that it came back out. They insisting nothing was wrong. I was home and ate a cheese sandwich, so I’m sure it food from the restaurant that caused it. No apologies, no “can we get you some water?”, charged full price anyway.   My experience was not enjoyable. I arrived 10 min early (7:50pm) for my reservation on a Saturday evening at 8pm. I was seated right away upstairs. I was not provided with a dinner napkin. The hostess then came and removed a chair from my table when the whole upstairs only had two other seated tables. Five minutes later, the server brought the chair back. The server did not offer any water. I finally got water when I asked for it 1 hour into my dinner. The hostess came back and removed the chair a second time. Five min later the server brought the chair back again. I waited 45 min for a dessert and then another 25 min to get the check. When I spoke with the manager, I was informed that the restaurant just opened two days ago and she doesn't know what happened to the service. In my opinion, this isn't an acceptable explanation. If the restaurant isn't ready to provide service to patrons, then they shouldn't open. How is this a Michelin Guide restaurant? Very busy as it was a Saturday evening but nothing seemed too difficult for them. Highly recommended.   Amazing, authentic Portuguese fusion dishes which went beyond our expectations with brilliant service. The tasting menus were exceptional and catered to our dietary needs. My husband and I both ordered tasting menus the memory which was adapted as my husband does not eat beef and my vegetarian menu also allowed for substitutes with other dishes. The sommelier advised and enabled us to choose a wine which was local and also went best with our dishes. The overall experience was exceptional and would recommend this to anyone visiting Porto.   Look, I knew this was expensive and we’ve eaten an the French Laundry and several other 3 star Michelin restaurants. This to me was expensive without reason. We had several orders than were 20€ and just very small portions of food that wasn’t harmonious or generous. Wines were good, maybe I’m just not into pretentious food like this anymore. My instincts knew from the outset that this establishment is about making money from tourists and definitely not about customer service.   I've ordered the soft boiled egg in appetizer (16€), it was very basic without any particular seasonings, very disappointed then I went on with a rice with fish and lobster (88€) for two people, it is a big pot of rice in a very salty sauce with a few pieces of fish and 3-4 pieces of "lobster".   I dined here last night and would give this 2 1/2 points because one aspect that was excellent was the service. Otherwise, it was a rather lacking experience for a restaurant in Porto with these kind of prices. It has a mention in the Michelin guide as one of the top tables in the city and the chef also has a 2 star Michelin restaurant outside of the city on the coast. When I inquired about it, the staff told me the menus were nearly the same. Well, I hope not because the chef would loose his stars next time his restaurant is checked upon. There were six of us and we sampled probably 65-70% of the dishes on the menu. While the ingredients are probably quite good, there doesn't seem to be a chef in the kitchen with any creative vision to make sure there are exciting flavors on the plates that go out. It seems like the boss set the menu and hasn't been in the kitchen for quite some time after he showed his team how to actually turn out memorable dishes. But the prices certainly reflect the "Michelin-starred chef" association. So, it looks like a blatant strategy to cash in on his achievements in his other restaurant. We sat upstairs and the lighting was horrible. Entirely over-lit without a way to dim the lights. The chef is certainly not attempting to achieve a star with this restaurant and it never will unless it entirely revises the approach. Very disappointing overall.   I had the sea menu, while my partner had a custom sea menu, since she is mainly a veggie that eats fish. On that angle, the restaurant and staff happily allowed my partner to change dishes from the set, without any issue. In places like Ledbury in London, I am not convinced they would allow such customisation. Beyond that the food was really good and I can’t point anything negative in terms of taste. My only “issue” is the quantity. I think they are over generous on the quantities and by end I couldn’t appreciate the food, since I was way too full. The wine suggestions from the staff were also spot on, and they allowed us to go with a mini-set for the drinks (2 x glasses for each). Definitely would recommend this place.   The food was good, the space had a nice atmosphere and feeling, however the service made the experience unpleasant. Some of the staff were kind and informed, however my primary waitress was rude, dismissive and seemed to genuinely not want me there. It made me want to finish my meal as soon as possible so that I didn't have to be in her presence anymore. I assume she was having a bad day and felt the need to take it out on customers, however it's not acceptable. I understand giving 1 star may not feel appropriate, however the entire experience (and the money I paid for it) feels wasted. I would not go back to this restaurant, and would recommend friends and family not visit it either. Speaking and acting disrespectfully towards your customers is not appropriate, and management should do a better job to ensure that customers always feel welcome and respected by their staff. I ordered an appetizer, the shrimp linguine, as my entree because I’m not a big eater. It comes and it looks pretty. I eat the shrimp and it tastes mushy and undercooked. I try the pasta and it was flavorless. This is €26 euros. Yes, €26 for unseasoned pasta and undercooked shrimp. I send it back and I get something simple and cheap because I’m scared to order anything else. I get the spinach ravioli (€14) and the spinach tastes gritty like it hasn’t been washed.   Having visited Porto yesterday, 29th May 2021 for the Champions League Final between Manchester City and Chelsea, my friend and I came upon DOP Restraunt whilst walking around the town in search of somewhere relatively quiet to eat and relax. Made to feel extremely welcome, we were seated quickly without booking, and attended to by very efficient staff. Our chosen dishes were absolutely fabulous, cooked to perfection, wonderfully presented and served, and thoroughly enjoyable. We were made extremely comfortable, and would highly recommend.   We finally got to enjoy an amazing dining experience at DOP. I see why chef Rui Paula has Michelin stars. My man (a retired 5 star chef) loves seafood (but never eats any at restaurants) and he loved the Chef's seafood Prix Fix meal with wine paring. I don't like seafood so ordered from the ala carte menu. I had the burrata, tomato and basil starter followed with the black pork neck, a celery and cider sauce entree with wine pairing as well. The food is beyond wonderful. This is truly dining...not eating a meal. If you love and appreciate amazing food then you MUST dine here. We will go back every time we are in Porto!   Reading some harsh reviews about DOP while we have probably one of the best meals here in all of portugal. I understand chefs have bad days and taste is absolutely subjective so, at the end of the day, you form your own opinion based on experiences, exposures and luck, whether we you like it or not. From start to end we are very pleased with the serving pace, knowledge of the servers, taste and presentation. Price is up there but compares to where we come from, NYC, our pocketbook is extremely happy! The starters were average, the main dish (fish) was badly cooked and the desert ok. We also had the wine pairing and only one wine (picture below) was memorable.   Really pleased that we picked to eat at DOP, we had a lovely evening in a relaxed environment with fabulous food and wine. We choose the sea menu and all 3 of us loved every bite. The sommelier picked us an incredible bottle of wine, asking the right questions of what we liked seeing as we had no knowledge of Portuguese wines. The dining area was quite special, we felt like no one else was around us and loved the set up for a table of 3, with no one sitting on that odd chair out of a table for 4 - very thoughtful. One of us is a chef and all of dine regularly high end places so I am surprised at the recent reviews. I would go back to Porto and eat here again without question.   So you go to a beautiful city, try to make a reservation at a Michelin star restaurant and then to your surprise, and come out eating really ordinary and on occasion salty food. Between the two of us, we ordered the spinach ravioli ( served over cooked), cauliflower ( burnt with curry flavor), chestnut and mushrooms ( pre made patties), and vegetable and coconut lasagna (with no taste of coconut but a large amount of salt). Do the chefs here have really tasted this food themselves? Have the folks at Michelin ever bothered to eat these dishes? With so many great options in Porto, we just feel bad about wasting our time here and planning our evening around this dinner.   Super disappointed after eating here. I chose it because it was a Fodor's choice (which also happened to mention that it had a great value lunch menu and vegetarian options). Since being vegetarian in Porto was harder than I anticipated, I took the plunge. I ordered the cauliflower with hazelnut and the soft boiled egg with asparagus. The 14 € cauliflower was less than ONE FLORET of cauliflower (not joking) sliced thin on some hazelnut foam. My husband and I actually laughed when we looked at it. The painful part was that it was bland to boot. The egg was plain but alright. Those 2 dishes together cost 30€, which I have to say hurt. It would get 0 stars if just for me, but my husband did actually like his veal. For the price, however, he wished we would have gone elsewhere.   First things first I wouldn't go here if you're vegetarian. I guess it's the case of they specialise in certain things and vegetarian food is very much an afterthought. We emailed them in advance to ask whether they could cater for vegetarians and they said yes. They probably should have said not really. The starters were actually quite good but the mains were appalling. When I say that I mean things I could easily cook myself at home and with very little thought at all. We mentioned this at the time and the staff simply said 'ok' rather than trying to rectify the situation. The desserts were nice as they were the standard desserts. The meal didn't represent value for money. I guess the only thing I can say is the wine was good and the sommelier was very friendly but other than that definitely no intention at all of coming back.   We went to DOP. Based on reviews from other websites, it was rated the most expensive restaurant in Porto. The restaurant was half full (we couldn’t go to other restaurants in the area as they were booked a week in advance). We know in Portugal they charge for bread and that’s fine. I was with my wife and 5 years old daughter…they charged 10.50 Euro (3 × 3.50) for 5 pieces of bread!!! Food was good but service was incredibly slow. I had to chase the wine menu and get water on a counter myself (they charged 7 Euro for Stillwater or maybe tapwater as they were not from a bottle). We went for the la carte menu at dinner and while the food was good it lacked the inventiveness expected at these prices.   I had a great meal at DOP. The service was absolutely perfect - which I think is just as important as the quality of the food. I wasn't expecting the amuse bouches, so when they arrived at my table it was a nice surprise. My starter - prawns in garlic - was delicious, by far the best course of the night. For my main I ordered the duck. The accompanying risotto had all the right ingredients: mushroom, truffle, parsley(?); but unfortunately both the duck and the risotto were very salty, almost unenjoyable (Almost!). Dessert was nice, I loved the secret hazelnut and the choice of chocolates with my coffee. I would give 3.5 stars if I could - but definitely closer to 4 stars than 3! I will probably come back if I ever return to Porto, and I would definitely recommend.(also, Rui Paula himself was walking around the restaurant, I'm assuming he does this fairly often. Loved the octopus carpaccio, the beef tartar, the risottos, all the seafood dishes and the duck leg. Came home with Chef's latest cookbook and a happy heart.
