  Super good Portuguese food. Traditional but elegant. What to expect: - Good service. The waiters are really attentive and will try to satisfy your every need. I found the service better than in other restaurants. - Calm atmosphere. You can have a talk without having to elevate the voice. The music selection is pleasant. - Food quality. Since it is a Portuguese restaurant they know what they are talking about (I recommend the Portuguese 3-course menu, but they do have other options for different countries). - Reasonable prices.   We found this on our last night in Porto and it was terrific. From walking in the door the service was first class. Our waiter was lovely, perfect English, friendly, and excellent food and wine recommendations. Highlights were the cod fishcakes, oxtail croquettes, and fried Brie. Would love to go back.   Excellent choice for a meal in Porto. The Menu offers an ample choice of small tasting dishes, some inspired by local food, others more related to international trends. It also offers a smaller choice of main dishes with generous portions, mostly related to local cuisine. The ingredients are excellent and so is the way they are cooked and presented.   We had a very nice lunch here. On New Year’s Day no less, when many places were closed. We had the the bread selection, vegetable soup, and the roast beef for two. Each dish was prepared with care. Each was tasty on its own and combined well with the others. The roast beef itself was outstanding. The kitchen here really cares about what they put out. Service was also excellent. We had some special requests, wanting to take some of the food to our room for another person, and the waiter was most accommodating. Deserts were simple but very good. Overall, highly recommended.   My partner who has a gluten allergy and I sat at the restaurant and were amazed by their attitude towards food restrictions, as they vigorously claimed that everything in the menu is with gluten although this was clearly not the case. When we explained that we understand the kitchen is not sterile and we can live with that as long as there’s no gluten in the ingredients- they said that since there’s gluten in the kitchen they would prefer that we don’t order anything. Basically they sent us away. Very intolerant behaviour towards people who already have a harder time in life with food and eating out.   Went here to try some Portuguese cuisine. The place is neat and has a good interior. The service is outstanding. The tables are a bit small, which is hard to serve those who order a lot. Food: Francesina - something interesting, but it's basically a burger with ingredients being put in another order. Cheese lovers might love the amount of cheese, but for me it was too much. Overall francesina was good. The meat with sweet potatoes (batatas) was amazing. A bit too oily in the bottom. Probably would benefit from more sausage. The meat was very soft and was very delicate to eat. Octopus was good, but everything else served with it wasn't to our taste. The sides help the octopus look great, but they don't add taste to the dish. Finally, the dessert. Wasn't bad, the chocolate cake itself was good. The ice cream is nothing special. I would highly recommend visiting this place.   Sadly a very well diguised tourist trap. The dishes arrived either lukewarm and/or cold. Even though the menu makes a bold statement that untouched dishes will not be charged, in reality this is not the case. You will be forced to pay the full amount even though your food was cold and delivered late. They did offer us a bag to bring our freshly served cold dinner to take home with us, which I politely refused. The service was quick and polite. Their wine menu seemed fine as well. The restaurant fills up very quickly, so seemingly it is a very popular spot with tourists. I hope for the sake of other people I just had a bad shift, who knows. Food wise, we tried the cod fish cakes which were quite good, the crispy Brie (with onion jam) which is outstanding, vegetable spring rolls which were not bad but a little oily, and finally the francisinia (which am sure I am misspelling) which is quite recommended, and finally the crispy cod , while not my favorite, it was good. Our daughter enjoyed the kids meal comprised of chicken breast, fries, rice, cherry tomatoes, soup, and ice cream. Drinks: their sangria is a must!   Great little restaurant in a small alley right next to the Rua das Flores shopping street. The interior is really beautiful but the best experience is sitting outside in front of the restaurant in a little courtyard, enjoying the atmosphere and watching people pass by in the evening hours when everything is beautifully lit.   Food = One goes to a restaurant based on their entrees (protein is the star of the show), I order the octopus tentacle. The appearance of the dish was well composed and did really look amazing. Sadly the protein was over cooked, chewy, and though to eat. I know the difference because I ate the same dish at another restaurant 2 nights ago and the difference was night and day. My wife and I had the vegetable soup and green pea soup, and they were up to par. But you don’t go to a restaurant for soup… Service = I could tell the server was new because he had some trouble opening the bottle of wine and spilled a bit of wine on the table as well as some olive oil while pouring. Other than that, he was friendly and attentive. Restaurant Ambience = restaurant looks nice and it seems well maintained. My wife and I did not have a good time because there was a constant bad human bowel odor from time to time. My concern is that the manager was present and did not offer any type of remedy to the situation. For that reason, I will never eat there again when I am in Porto. All other restaurant experiences were positively trending. I hope this helps.   The food was hit and miss. Good was the guacamole, the hummus, the fried Brie, kids menu steak and fries. But the soups were tasteless, the tuna tataki was inedible (fish was not fresh, we sent it back). The pork cheek was tasty but cold meat on warm mashed potatoes with gravy. Quesadillas and eggplant parmigiana were too cheesy and lacking taste. So, the food was not stellar. But the worst part of this experience was that -- after waiting more than an hour for our first starter to show up --- the dishes basically came out one at a time every 10 min or so. So everyone ate their food individually as the others watched. We didn't get our guacamole and chips yet by the 1.5 hour mark. I have never experienced anything like it. The Brie starter was amazing, with caramelized onions reduced with port. We also had the burrata with tomatoes a classic and very good. The salads are very fresh, dressing is light and homemade. The best part was the sangria. I’m not usually a fan of white sangria - but the passion fruit white sangria was out of this world good.   Lovely service and ambiance. In the heart of the touristy district but nestled just out of the way. I was able to get a table without any issues on a busy Saturday night when there were lines out the door at nearby restaurants. Lucky me!   I ate here tonight. I had the ox tail croquettes, which were sadly lacking ox tail and flavour and had a strange texture that made them hard to swallow. The breaded octopus came out and it was so tough and chewy that I gave up after only a few bites. The bed of greens and beans were cold and very dry. Everything was bland, which is ironic for a restaurant with the tag line "flavour with passion". The only half decent thing was the wine. There were only a few tables, so the kitchen was not busy. Despite sitting directly opposite the bar where several staff were chatting away, I was largely ignored. When I was finally asked how everything was and I told them it wasn't good, the only response was an impolite shrug of shoulders. I don't usually go on so much in a review but this place is useless.   The food is delicious for the price more the fair BUT we booked a table with the app the Fork with the discount and there was no discount. Then we wanted the table outside and instead of telling us that everything was booked for tonight they told us to take a table inside just for the drinks and appetizer and for the main course we can have the table outside. It was fine for us, then they told us that we should order the main course right away because the kitchen will be closed soon and until is the meal prepared we will have out table outside.   Great location in a back alley of a very busy street. With the Portuguese menu you can get a quick all-in-one experience of the local quisine. Their alcohol drinks are very poor though.   Very friendly staff serving tasty food. Highly recommend the porto meal for two. My advice is to not eat for the entire day until you get there though, the portions are beyond generous. The cocktails were a bit of a downer though, either too sour or lacking in alcohol. Especially the daiquiri. Besides those minor flaws, definitely worth a visit!   Delicious food on a nice side street in Porto. The jamon iberico and guacamole appetizers were delicious. The stars of the meal were the jamon and the beefsteak entree.   Nice little gem, hidden in an small alley next to Rua das Flores. Food was good, but the fried sweet potato was too oily. Also the sangria was way too expensive for the quality.   I usually don’t post reviews, but after spending a few days in Porto, we went to Em Canto for our last dinner and were not disappointed. This is by far the best meal we’ve had in Porto. The service was great and the food was simply amazing. We shared the hummus as a appetizer, and took a shrimp salad and beef steak as a main course, and it was delicious. The plate size are also very generous. We would recommend every person in Porto to go there for an enjoyable meal! The service was comfortable - no pressure but informative and with appropriate suggestions. We sampled all courses and nothing disappointed.
