  We waited for a table with no acknowledgement from staff. Waiter did not speak one word until we declined adding service on card and he said “but it was fantastic service?”. We intended to leave cash as the food was good but this really did not sit right considering there was no good service. The food was tasty but service extremely poor.   This restaurant is situated in a gorgeous location, next to the river off the Caid de Ribeira. Unlike many of the other reviewers, the one thing I could not fault was the service. Staff were very friendly, accommodating, and charming. The speed of service was also good. We called in on 2 separate occasions. Once at lunchtime for drinks only. The second time on the evening for dinner, both times, the service was excellent. The food was good, but not fantastic, and more expensive than lots of other restaurants, but not excessively so, especially for such a picturesque, vibrant location. The biggest fault, though, was the toilets!. Accessible from the inner bar, up narrow stairs to probably the worst restaurant toilets I have seen. Smelly, unclean, and generally disgusting. There's no excuse for the state of these toilets. It reflects very badly on the restaurant and makes you question if the kitchen is hygienic.   Not usually negative but the service is so poor it made me write this review (as I keep giving my waiter eye contact to get his attention!) place is so packed. everyone looks fed up. Waiter was even throwing F-bombs as his machine to take my order kept crashing. Admittedly I do have allergies so it's hard to find something from the menu, but they do anything to work around it to hopefully get some a similar experience to the rest of the customers...ended up getting a plain salted steak. Onion soup wasn't great either. A customer sat the table next to me mid way through my meal, similar time as I was waiting for my bill. we both just kept looking at the waiter for his attention. The waiter thought talking to a customer for 10 minutes straight was more important. Anyway, that customer just decide to leave. wish I did the same lol Best try get my bill again before I just decide to walk off and see if they notice...   Absolutely awful place. Dine here for dinner. The food was very basic and expensive. Service was poor. Had to wait ages to be served. When our main course arrived we were left without cutlery for ages and had to go to asked for them. When we paid our bill the waiter had the cheek to ask if we were leaving him a tip with the rest of the cash change. I will not recommend this place.   It was so excellent. We came in and were warmly welomed at the first moment. We didn’t pick from the card and asked for Tapas. Andre recommendes mussles, chorizo (burning at the photo), olives and a nice Tuna paste, so wonderful, made by his wife, and a cheese plate.   The worst dining experience I had in Portugal. The great ambience drew us in, but we had too many negative experiences here. 1. We ordered the seafood pasta. It was the most tasteless pasta I had and the spaghetti did not taste fresh. It tasted like it had been reheated. 2. Grilled octopus & potatoes - the octopus was soggy..very different from the octopus I had in other restaurants in Portugal. 3. Our order took more than 30mins to arrive, likely due to a shortage of staff. There was only one waiter taking care of like 100 customers. Our waiter was nice and he was doing his best but there is a limit to how many customers one person can take care of. 4. Worst of all - we sat near the stone wall and there was a pidgeon perched right above us that pooed on our table & my friend! We had to get all plates changed. They should do something about the birds sitting right above the tables because I’m sure this is not the first time this happened to customers. 5. There were other customers around us complaining about some issues and asking to speak with the manager but the server didn’t accommodate to their request. Because the server was occupied with them for over 15mins we asked other waiters to help, but they said “no! I’m not in charge of these tables”. Wow. Nosso garçom foi simpático e estava fazendo o melhor que podia, mas há um limite para quantos clientes uma pessoa pode atender. 4 Pior de tudo - sentamos perto da parede de pedra e havia um pombo empoleirado logo acima de nós que fez cocô em nossa mesa e em meu amigo! Tivemos que trocar todas as placas. Eles deveriam fazer algo em relação aos pássaros sentados logo acima das mesas, porque tenho certeza de que não é a primeira vez que isso acontece com os clientes. 5 Havia outros clientes ao nosso redor reclamando de alguns problemas e pedindo para falar com o gerente, mas o servidor não atendeu à solicitação.   Got the garlic steak…. Just awful.. couldn’t even finish. Asked for medium rare, came out well done. But shouldnt really have expected any better given the meat was less than 1/2 inch thick. Felt like chewing on rubber. No sauce of any kind on the salad, and was just lettuce. For the quality of the food, INSANELY expensive. The food is a good representation of the Portuguese food but, you will pay far too much for the quality you get. If you are Portuguese, do not even try - this restaurant is not for us - they will ignore you as you are not their target consumer. The food was below average and overpriced but, the view is indeed amazing. I have ordered an orange juice which was 90% water. I do not mind paying expensive but I do not care for being tricked into tourist traps. After leaving my whole steak, the employee collected by plate and didn’t even bother to ask if everything was ok. I understand there are busy times but the service was indeed poor.   The food was mediocre at best and the price is high because of the location. We ordered the flaming chorizo as a starter to share. The waiter just left it on the edge of the table without explaining anything. The cod fritters were rather dry. When we were paying the bill the waited kindly “explained” the bill. He first explained that there are different tax rates for food and drinks (even if you just take water). Then he showed where the total sum is and the line where it said “total per person” was presented as the “tip” that we have to pay. We politely declined paying it. I’m sorry, but Portuguese is a Latin based language and it’s clear that that is not the tip. I guess they fish for those who cannot read or are too drunk to understand what they’re paying for.   This restaurant is phenomenal! All the food is extremely fresh and well-prepared. She staff is friendly and accommodating. This is perhaps our favorite meal while in Portugal! We will definitely be back. The beef and the grilled fish (both the seabass and salmon) were flavorful and well-seasoned. The seafood soup was top notch! I cannot say enough about this restaurant!   This a great spot along the water. The service was great. Bread with olives was served and it was delicious. Remember, here in Porto that nothing is served for free. Was disappointed in the mussels as they were over cooked. I wouldn’t recommend them.   I'll start by saying that I've been to this restaurant in 2016 and 2018, and have suggested it to many people. I carried their card around in my wallet for years so I would always have the location. I went today and had the absolute worst experience. Terrible service, double or triple the tables there used to be, not enough waitstaff to handle all the people. We had the same waiter that we had all those years ago, and the guy was running around like an absolute maniac, clearly in over his head. Food took an hour to come out ( which we were perfectly fine with ), except for the fact that it was so cold that It must have been sitting in the back for twenty minutes. I expressed this to the waiter and he let us know that the restaurant was way too packed for them to handle, and proceeded to ask if we were tipping still. I've never written a google review before, but wanted to express that I absolutely would NEVER go back to this place, as there is such an influx of tourists around that they no longer have any care as to the service they provide. I'm not one to complain, but I could go on and on about the list of things that were just utterly terrible about this experience. I hope this saves someone the frustration of what I went through today. Please stay away and enjoy one of the many other fine restaurants in this beautiful city. Sardines starter were cold, from a can and lumped together with a massive pile of lettuce? One guest ordered sirloin steak with garlic. Arrived cold…sent back. Second arrival, flat chewy piece of cheap steak with an overload of garlic taste presumably to disguise the poor steak quality. Water was delivered in a plastic bottle which appeared as though it had come straight from the supermarket. And what is really off-putting are the additional hidden costs (7€) of the 'free' starters which consists of dry buns some olives and a tuna paste and 1,40€ for the tablecloths.   Can't really recommend this place. They are basically just a tourist spot. They place appetizers on your table without ordering them and want to charge you for them later and compared to some other restaurants that are further from the river the prices are pretty high. Food is just okay. The only good thing is the location which is not worth it to me. What really annoyed me was that they straight up lied about giving a 10% discount to porto card owners.   Really bad service. We tried for more than 5 minutes to get attention from any waitress. The toilets are totally disgraceful. It was stinky and the floor was flooded.   Absolute scam. This restaurant is running only because of it's good location. They serve bread and olives to every table as if it's free but they charge 4.5 euros in the final bill!! They charged me 18 euros for some bolhinos, a gin and tonic and those "free" starters. Also overcharged me for the drink which I had to show them to get it corrected. The waiter did a good job of acting surprised. The food and drinks are not bad to be honest. It's sad they have to scam customers and leave a bad taste in their mouth.   Avoid this place in Porto!!! The first star you have to give on google is for the location, this one was great. Unfortunately not much went well at this restaurant… First we were ignored by the staff and got the wrong food form the tabel next to us. After that the lights went out up to five times in the entire restaurant (see the picture below). My food was ok, but not special, but my girlfriend got a piece of meat with more fat than meat (see the tasteful photo below). When asking for the bill were ignored first as usual in this restaurant. After that we got the bill from another table up to 2 times. When we finally had the right bill, we found out that they had add an extra 2 euros for some drinks. When we asked for this, we got our money back nicely, with the necessary unfriendly words from the staff behind it. Porto is a great city with very good restaurants which have been hit hard by the pandemic. Support these restaurants and cafes and don't go to Chez Lapin.   Great place for some drinks and food. We were helped bij Lis, she was very kind and helpful. The ambience was really nice, the staff really helped making the night. Every night there is live music by street artists. Definitely recommend coming here for some food and drinks, enjoying the music and the view.   Really disappointed and this review is based on my experiences of the staff and service and not of the food or drink, which we didn’t get to try. We looked at the menu and decided to try Chez Latin, it had a few people sat at the tables and tourists were taking photos of the quirky internals. We waited to be served at the front, staff acknowledged us but didn’t come over to seat us. We decided to take a seat at the made up table, still no service. I went and got menus to make it look like we were staying for food, still no service. After a good 8 minutes of sitting, looked at by staff and customers, we decided to leave. It’s disappointing as the food did look good.   Looks a pretty place and draws you in, but sadly very average food which lacks what other local restaurants can offer, and lacked attention to detail. Expensive for what you get. Service very mediocre. We were not even asked if the food was OK, which I find is a polite gesture to do. Our waiter even pointed out as I paid that tips were not included on the bill and appeared to hover around. I have never ever been prompted to leave a tip before like this !   Food had no taste and the prices were quite high. A terrible experience, I took my girlfriend here for her first visit to Porto and as a local I regretted it. Honestly just a tourist trap with little resemblance to what this city has to offer. Staff were attentive and respectful, just the food was substabdard and the prices too high for what was delivered, river view or no river view. The service took for ever, after we complained about the lemonade when paying (in which I had to put my own sugar in; this needs to be told beforehand because this is unusual that you mix your own lemonade) we received rude comments.   I would say the service in this restaurant is quite bad. The servant always ignored us while stayed aside with the guests who ordered lots of wines (the service goes with the money you spent). No paper napkins or napkin cloth. The heating in the room is bad and we felt cold sitting inside in January. Besides, the cod fish is very salty and not fresh.   The fish soup is very nice, but the roasted cod in the oven and the roasted cod with shrimps are very salty. Difficult to finish them all. The worst thing is the service. The waiter was chatting with two guests on a table next to us all the time and consequently ignoring the requests from us. We had to walk out of the room to ask for some drinks.   Food was very tasteful, really! Unfortunately service was incredibly slow! Staff arguing in between themselves regarding given tasks while customers were awaiting for some one else to be welcomed! There has been no staff cleaning up the tables to seat customers as they were serving other tables, which makes the waiting time in queue extende for several minutes ahead! Obviously short of staff at the moment, which makes no sense because management certainly knows the busiest days! Mid-management should pay attention how tasks are given to avoid staff’s overload work! Despite all this, I would recommend the food! Also the outside view is great!   Two stars might be too much! Sadly, I came from NYC with high expectations for this place and I got dissatisfied with the service and food. First off, there are not enough servers to fulfill the high demand of customers. Second, it took me about 10 min to find a table and another 10 to order. Once the food came( cod fish with shrimp, potatoes and melted cheese & salmon with roasted potatoes ) - not hot. More like getting cold. Salmon too salty. I was there for about 1-1/2 hours and I saw few people getting up and leaving because no one came to take their food orders. I wonder if this happens all the time. Os tomates eram grandes como o inferno. Sem amor. O serviço foi horrível. Eu disse à garçonete que minhas batatas estavam velhas e pedi batatas frescas. Ela pegou e nunca mais voltou. Nossa recomendação: não coma lá. Duas estrelas pela localização e pelas entradas.
