  Had a reservation for 8:00 and we were seating at a tiny table practically in the entrance of the restaurant. Cigarette smoke coming in and non stop take out orders. Asked the server to be moved to a different table but they said they were for bigger parties. Watched 3 separate parties of 2 walk in and always get the bigger tables in the back without reservations. Food was good though!   Thamel was a bit empty and to be honest we initially thought it wouldn't be a very pleasant experience. But soon, since the starters got to the table, we realized that the food was gorgeous. The staff is very friendly and the food is really good. I'll return there for sure!   Really good restaurant, Food was tasty and there are a lot of interesting options to take there if you like to diverse.   We had a long day traveling from Manchester to Porto. The food here at Thamel were very warming and comforting. We had four dishes and all of them were very tasty.   Wonderful food, lovely bright and shiny restaurant, modern with excellent facilities. Staff super friendly and great central location in Porto. Didn't have a desert but was recommended the four port wine tasting selection for 11 Euros instead of a pudding. Great to share with a friend and lovely port. They also have a restaurant overlooking the beach in Matosinhos. Reasonable price for such good quality food and drink.   One of the best green curries i've ever had, and my partner had the Momo Thukar, vegetarian dumpling soup, and she was overwhelmingly delighted. Both dishes 9-10/10. Not overly expensive, but not cheap, but i would recommend this to friends and return myself.   Fabulous waitress helped us work through the menu choices by pausing by our table with other patrons dinners to let us see and smell some of the great choices. We wound up having Momo and Vegetable Samosas with mango chutney for appetizers and Chicken Pad Thai and Sweet and Sour Pork with Passionfruit. A great place to visit while in Porto.   Without a doubt one of the best Asian restaurants in Porto. Located in a very central area, a few steps from Aliados, Thamel stands out for the quality of its food and the attention of its service. During the week they have a menu for €15 that has a great quality/price ratio. Rogerio is a room manager, and deserves a special mention. He loves his work and really makes you feel very very comfortable. Thanks to Rogerio and the rest of the team. We will return for sure!   Took a chance on a New Year's Day dinner at Thamel - so happy we did! We shared 3 main courses between 2 adults and a child - all very different but equally delicious. Fresh, tasty and great portions. Thamel's own beer was lovely and the cocktails being made looked amazing (we didn't try them). Casual place with super friendly and busy staff. Definitely recommend!   If you're Indian or Nepali this place is so worth it! I tried the reccommended Chicken Thukpa which is a traditional Tibetan Broth Noodle Soup, so filling, comforting and super delicious!! In the chilly weather of winter in Porto, this steaming hot decadent and delicately spiced, nuanced flavour-ful soup was food for the soul! Thank you Sofia and João!   The flavours aren't too overpowering so if this is your first time trying something different coming here would be a nice option! I had 2 starters: the momo and the spring rolls. Both were good and what you expect of it. Definitely a decent portion, having too starters was too much for just me! The Pad Kra Pao is indeed really spicy like it says but I enjoyed! The only dowside was that the egg was a bit too fried on the bottom and the egg white a bit raw on top. The staff is nice and eventhough they aren't portuguese they make a noticeable effort to try and speak portuguese which is pretty cool to see! Overall it was a pleasant experience!   It was my first experience in Porto and I was looking for Nepalese food and I only found this restaurant called thamel but I think better to change the name ,I returned back at the first day because there was no more Nepali menu and every menu was Thai but next day morning I again went there to try what exactly they have belongs to Nepali dishes and I tried food looks good and delicious but wasn’t, taste was missing 75 percent.   Overall, a nice experience. The service was excellent. Efficient and very friendly. We had the chicken fingers to start. We got just as described. Nothing wrong with the dish I just had an expectation for a Nepalese twist to seperate it. For our main we order the Meet and Eat (2 Pax) which was very good. The thighs and ribs were delicious as was the rice and other accompaniments. We will visit again but this time I think we will try the noodle / rice dishes Thank you.   Unfortunately, I really wanted to like this place but felt very uncomfortable. My friend made the waiter aware that she has a seafood allergy and was told that the dish she wanted would be fine. The waiter later placed her meal in front of her, telling her that the small bowl of sauce on her plate was fish sauce. I don't understand why you would put something someone is allergic to on their plate. I also ordered the vegan pad Thai, but my meal had egg all throughout it. We left feeling unwell and uncomfortable. Won't be returning sadly and won't be recommending.   Thamel is one of Portugal s only but certainly the best Nepalese restaurant in Porto. The restaurant is modern and the menu is extensive and well priced. Do try the momos and the local beers too. Everything on the menu is pretty good..vegetarian friendly as well. The service was very friendly. Add on: The restaurant does not update it's timings on Google. We went there twice and found it shut. A bit shoddy for a restaurant like this. They were also delivering uberEats. But we're not flexible to do a take away for us, even though we had come from far.   Wow. The food was just incredible! I had lunch here today with my husband, and everything was amazing!! Highly recommend the sweet and sour pork with passion fruit, selection of curries, and the homemade lemonade. All of it was so delicious, and the portion sizes are very generous!   They got us seated right away even though we didn't have a reservation. The momo dumplings were on point and the sauce they came with was awesome. The Asian spicy ribs fell off the bone and had a nice heat to them. The sweet and sour pork was not the normal red sauce I'm used to but still just as delicious. The only small downside to the meal was my pineapple rice... This is a personal dislike of warm pineapple and has nothing to do with the restaurant.   In a city that (surprisingly) does not seem to have too many asian /fusion restaurants, Thamel is a great location. The food is a range of Asian/South Asian -Nepali, Thai and Chinese.   I just went to the restaurant without a reservation with a big appetite after surfing and a lot of curiosity regarding food from Nepal. I got a seat in the very back of the restaurant in a busy corridor next to the restroom but since I didn't book a table or anything it was just fine :) but if u want to be sure you get a nice table (which there are plenty of) you should book one in advance. The waitress was really nice, sweet, polite and helpful. I had a Nepalese lager beer which was fantastic! As starter I had dumplings with mango chutney, which were delicious. As main I had Momos which were cooked in three different ways. I especially liked the sauces a lot! Also the spiciness was just right :) also the food was really hot so no half-warm dumplings or the like which was really nice.   We were looking for something other than the Portuguese menu. We had lunch at Thamel. It was by far the best meal we had in Porto! We had the glass noodle salad and Arroz Frito. Both were supreme.   Best asian I have ever tried outiside asia. Especially surprising as they propose multiple countries cuisine (thai, indian, chinese,...). Best phad thai I have ever eaten outside thailand. Everything was excellent and in large enough portions. The only weird thing was the sangria without wine (it was more a punch) but it was excellent anyways! The green curry tasted quite okay but preferrbly more veggies. It was just full off small pieces of chicken. Mango&sticky rice was disappointing and costly (€7). The mango was sour and not soft.   Nice Nepalese fusion restaurant. We visited during low season and it was very quiet. The food was nice but I've definitely had better authentic Nepalese food at other restaurants.   Amazing service and food... A neighbouring restaurant (Boa-Bao...very poor service and their loss!) did not honour our reservation so we tried to find an alternative in the locality and so glad we did. We arrived on a Saturday evening at 7.30pm with a group of 12 without a booking. The manager took a couple of moments to ensure we could have a table for a reasonable amount of time as 6 adults + 6 kids and promptly organised a table for us to dine together. The food was amazing, 11 of us are vegetarian and there was ample variety with unique flavours...every dish we ordered was delicious! Our waiter Joe went above and beyond to ensure we had an amazing time albeit arriving unannounced, he is very knowledgeable and took the time and effort to explain dishes in detail. One member of our group is dairy intolerant so he liaised with the kitchen to ensure he was suitably catered for, and he was!   We went to Thamel because I saw on their menu they had momos! The momos were super tasty, silky on the outside with a good flavoursome filling inside. We also had the vegan pad Thai which was nice but a little too sweet. It could’ve been improved with more veggies or protein - now they were a loooot of noodles.   Okay, this 5 star reviews are all bought for sure. We stumbled upon this place and it was full, we checked the reviews and with 4.4 average we thought we were in good hands. After 1h20 waiting the food arrived (since it was packed up we forgave the delay) but the food was so bland that we knew we got scammed instantly. The momo soup (supposedly one of the specialities) was basically vegetable and tiny pieces of chicken blandly boiled with zero flavour. 12.50 euros each.   I was a little disappointed with the limited menu but the food was very tasty. Appetizers were ok and nothing special but the entrees very good. Desert menu was also limited and not appealing to me personally. The portion size was a bit small for the price and the place tends to be crowded. Service was very good although there was a wait to be seated and served food. Menu seems to be different in some parts than what Google has posted.   We ordered a meal set for two which included Momos, chicken thighs, ribs, etc. at first we thought it was not much—but we were so full after! The food tasted soo good and every flavour is on point. They curated the set very well, a mix of Indian, Thai, and Nepalese flavours that all work together. I also got their homemade berries iced tea and it was the best match for a hearty meal! And the staff too were all very polite and seems to be happy even tho it’s almost closing time. Definitely recommend Thamel for a good meal!   We arrived without a booking but they made place for us in the bar where we were actually very comfortable. Thhe best were the wonderful waiters who paid attention to what we liked and recommended great dishes for us with much kindness and friendliness. All the dishes were super tasty, with fresh veggies and great desserts (loved the one with tapioca!).   It's a tiny bit expensive and you should be prepared to stay for at least an hour. They're very busy with a lot of to go orders so you do really get your turn in line in that respect. These two reasons are why it's a four star for me. We had pad Thai, sweet and sour pork, and another semi spicy dish (two chilis on the menu) that I can't remember the name of. All three were really good and taste like real food prepared by a real cook. That's fairly normal in Europe, but I still like to mention it for tourists from the US. The fried rice on the side of the pulled pork might have been the best I've ever had. It would be worth ordering a meal of just that!   The food was great, outstanding service. We had momos, cauliflower pakora and thali and liked them all. We asked for "just water" and got it self-bottled (so I assume it was tap water), then asked for more of it and got charged 3.50 eur twice - once for each bottle. Not sure about the Portugal norm but back in my country, tap water is never charged. I would expect to be notified in advance that they charge for it, and wouldn't expect the price to be that high.   Visiting Portugal for the weekend and this place was one of the highlights. Delicious food and really friendly staff who clearly cared about what they were doing.   We had a GREAT experience at Thamel Restaurant. First of all: the staff is very friendly and helpful. They give you the right information about the food and do it all with a smile. They adviced us the cocktail of the month (see picture), it was so tasty and full of flavour! My partner had a mocktail which was also really nice. Second, the food was very tasty and we had a good portion. We both got Momo as a starter, Pad Thai as our main dish and shared the tapioca dessert. We definitely recommend these.   This was the only restaurant we found at 11 PM (it happened to eat this late due to tourism activities) to close at 12 AM and to accept us inside to eat! We will be forever grateful for this! I usually go for a more spicy curry, but the subtle blend of spices that the chef used in my dish was excellent and I thoroughly enjoyed the meal. The only small downside is that they don't have photos in the menu and for me it was a little bit confusing, but you can always search photos of the product on google.   Unfortunately the food wasn’t great. I’m a huge Pad Thai fan and this Pad Thai wasn’t good, it was near to okay. We also got chicken fried rice and the starters Momo. Everything was just okay. And plus: the Pad Thai and fried rice both had a very small portion of chicken. In my opinion, it’s not worth the price. Positive points: the sauce that comes with the momo is really good, the staff was very very nice, very friendly and kind and the place has many cocktails you could try.   Really enjoy our meal at Thamel. We received a warm welcome and the staff were friendly and helpful. We ordered from the Asian menu, the food was tasty and well presented. The Nepalese Beer was a nice accompaniment. From what we could see from the food other customers had chosen, the American menu was equally as good.   Awesome place right in city center. It's a unique combination of Asian inspired food. They are known for their momos should you try them out - we did and it was very delicious. For entrees, I got the ARROZ FRITO COM CAMARÃO (spicy chicken + rice) and my wife got THAMEL THALI VEGETARIANO. We both enjoyed our food. They have a variety of different cocktails, I tried the DÍA DE LOS MUERTOS and it was pretty good. Also, the service was excellent. Highly recommend.   Awful quality food. Ordered take out and had the beef chow mein, chicken curry, rice and dumplings. Whilst the delivery was fast and the rider friendly, the curry was too salty to the point of it being inedible, had to abandon it 1/4 of the way through. The chow mein had no taste to it, even with the addition of red sauce that was in the box. dumplings were dry and rubbery - again couldn’t eat them. The portion sizes were tiny for the price.   Visited here last night and the service and food was amazing. Authentic Thai food cooked and tasting fantastic. We had gyoza dumplings and Pad Thai and the flavours was just like you would get in Thailand. The portion sizes were great value for money and it was nice to have a slightly different cuisine than Portuguese food during our stay. I highly recommend visiting here on your travels in Porto.   Stopped in for lunch and booked using the website. We were very exited to have some flavoursome curry in Porto and Thamel did not disappoint. We ordered the mix of Nepalese lamb and chicken curry, this also included rice, greens, cauliflower pakora and a potato dish. All the above were punchy and full of flavour. Great to be able to try a mixture also. Dropped one point as it was slightly cold and draughty inside however it was a brisk march day.   Unfortunately…. Our experience is not of a good one. Although our waiter was 5 star, and the restaurant itself was nice ambiance, the kitchen failed to deliver…. Example: Smelly ( in a bad way) scallops! Over sauced chicken wings/ over cooked dry meat on the wing! Momo we’re a bit uncooked…. Best part of our meal was the “ wild monsoon” cocktail, pretty good!! When we addressed the scallop to 2 staff members, they acknowledged what we said, but did nothing - not a complaint, just a experience we dare not duplicate!! Shame that according to facts, the staff in the kitchen are Nepalese!! Our taste of Nepal was not that of our month long trip in Kathmandu and Pokhara, Nepal.
